The fact that MG is a British brand (or used to be a British brand, depending on who you ask) is a big selling point for them here in China. Chinese consumers generally value foreign brands more than Chinese ones, though that is slowly changing.
@@wheelsboychat and they use there British origen to face the general miss trust lack of feedback and reputation that Chinese brands usually suffer from
So, in Paksitan Chinese launched 2 car brands, one was MG and the second one is Proton. So, right now MG is selling like hot cakes because it has British name attached to it and Proton is doin just good to survive even though they've better range of cars. It seems like SAIC's strategy to cash out British name is working.
same here in Indonesia MG is selling thanks to it's British badging even though it's probably made and designed in China outsold India brand like Tata, Mahindra and Chinese DFSK not sure they outsold Wuling though. Proton a Malaysian brand is already long gone here. this is nothing new though, Keeway a chinese motorcycle brand is selling their bikes like hot cakes just because they rebadge their products as Benelli formerly Italian brand....badges sell
To save everyone 15 minutes, MG is a Chinese company, end of story. 😂 Just like Jaguar Land Rover is a India company. British no longer owns MG or Jaguar Land Rover anymore.
Glad you guys continued this topic in this video, although it would've been nicer to have Elliott here as well. BTW the audio setup sounds muffled and picks up way to much background noise.
We had some serious problems with audio on this recording session, and it was only saved thanks to a herculean effort from our editor. We recorded three episodes during this session, and the audio on one was so bad that we had to scrap it entirely. We salvaged the other two, but they both have minor audio issues. We've since purchased higher quality mics, so it won't be problem in future episodes. Thank you for your feedback and support!
maybe you can keep mentioning new uploads of this channel in old wheelsboy channel, so that you can let those people who wants to watch this know it’s here, while don’t have to upload actual video there.
They've created many automobile brands like Leyland Enfield motorcycles (Now Royal Enfield ) Land rover Triumph Jaguar McLaren MG Maxus Aston Martin Rolls Royce Bentley Mini etc..... But they can't able to keep their brand properly.
TLDW. It’s a British brand bought by a Chinese company. It’s a global economy and branding doesn’t mean very much any more. Branding used to evoke emotion in people but most people in this case understand that the vehicles have very little to nothing to do with British made MG’s from back in the day. It’s not something that you can have nationalistic fervour about wether you are British or Chinese.
It's a Chinese plastic creation with a once-proud badge on it. Is it still an MG ? NOT BLUDDI LIKELY. Even if I could afford one I'd look around for a real one. These travesties will never trespass on my property. I'll take a 1955 MG TF thank you very much........
Very informative, didn't think I'd need to research the MG brand but this was enlightening when I did!
The MG is still putting the British flag all over their commercials, was it just to attract more markets oversea?

Quite interisting
MG is Chinese. British automakers are stuck in the stone age.
They've created many automobile brands like
Leyland
Enfield motorcycles (Now Royal Enfield )
Land rover
Triumph
Jaguar
McLaren
MG
Maxus
Aston Martin
Rolls Royce
Bentley
Mini etc..... But they can't able to keep their brand properly.
