    Good review. I just ordered these for my 2020 Tundra. I’m just over 65k miles and this will be my 3rd set of tires. The OEM tires were cheap and didn’t last, no surprise. Bought some Yokohama from my buddies dealership where I bought the truck after his recommendation. Lasted just over 35k miles they were ok but not impressed with the wear. I did some research and found a lot of good reviews like this one on these tires. I contacted him and said I wanted these especially with all the good snow performance I’ve heard and I deal with in the upper Midwest. Will cost me $1100 installed with tax after rebate which I was more than happy with. I also get free rotation with this dealership. I will test them out on my trip on an ice fishing to Winnipeg in about a month.

    I've had good luck with Falken tires in the past and those tires look great but they are HEAVY!! I think so many truck guys don't realize how much their big, burly high-load-rated tires hurt their acceleration and braking (among other things) when they increase rotational mass so much. Granted, if you just drive slow all the time it might not be a big deal, but I love the acceleration of my 2018 F150 5.0 running the stock 275/55/20 Hankook ATM's which are only 41lbs each. Your tires, by comparison are 68lbs. That's a huge difference...27lbs more of rotational mass at each corner, and can turn a relatively quick truck into a slug. Braking, handling, gas mileage and wear & tear is all significantly affected too.

    • @TrophyTimeAdventures
      @TrophyTimeAdventures  Год назад +5

      I agree they are much heavier that’s for sure, having gotten 2 flat tires in the past with p-metric stock tires on my previous f150s running gravel roads I prefer to stick to the LT tires going forward. Thanks for watching!

    I bought Falken AT/3W's for my 1992 GMC Yukon a little over two years ago (33x12.50R15). I have maybe 5K miles on them so far. I need to rotate them, even though I see now 'wear' on them so far (I had the front end rebuilt & aligned at the same time). Due to crappy gas mileage of my Yukon, I don't drive it much (7-9 mpg really suck!). Per the video above, I basically drive highway 90% of the time, along with the occasional 'off road' trip. The little bit of off roading I've done (muddier than heck), I had no problem! They also work really well in heavy rain and a lot of sn*w! I'll die before these are wore out but, if I ever buy another 4WD, you can bet your boots, that they'll be Falken Wildpeak AT3W's!

    I heard that the newer versions of these tires have change the tread compounds and they’re not as good as the older ones, does anyone have any experience with this? I’d kind of like to know if the new ones are going to be just as good as the other ones before I pull the trigger on a new set.

      I have seen some conversations on the forums regarding that but no proof yet from folks confirming it’s true. Perhaps reach out to falken technical support to confirm. I’ve had mine for 4 years now so can’t attest to that, let us know if you find out.Thanks for watching!

      If I had to guess they may have changed the compound to be slightly softer, they are definitely a harder compound compared to other brands, at least for the ones I had run going on 4+ years with them. If that the case you would expect better traction and probably less tread life.

    • @TrophyTimeAdventures
      @TrophyTimeAdventures  7 месяцев назад

      The a/t4w from falken looks like a great tire I’ve only ran the at3/w though. Are you going P metric or LT size? Take a look at the weight of the tires in the size you want, I’d recommend the lightest one as that affects your handling, mileage etc. I’m currently running the cooper at3 xlt for that reason. Over 7 pounds lighter than the falkens were. Hope that helps!

      Hey so far with over 55k miles on these tires now they have held balance really well. I rotate mine every 5-7k miles and get them balanced if needed at discount tire with rotations. I haven’t had an issue with that all, I have seen folks having out of round tires from numerous manufacturers and the store you bought them from should honor replacements if they’ve failed to get them balance after several attempts.

      Yes I have ran both tires. New the wildpeaks in 295/70/18 have 18/32” and the k02 have 15/32”. These wildpeaks at least in the 10 ply rating are wearing very minimal on my half ton truck. My last set of tires were the 275/70/18 10 ply k02 and after ~40k miles I was at 6/32” tread on those for comparison. They both performed great off road, wildpeaks had slight advantage with deeper tread I feel, however the k02 had slight advantage with staggered shoulder lugs for off camber muddy/wet hills. Man the LT must be a much harder compound. My P rated at3w's on my Zr2 Colorado have burned off over 5/32nds in 8k miles. At that rate for me they'll be done at 20k miles. Tire pressure checks every couple weeks and I've rotated them 3 times in that 8k miles and the wear pattern is fine. I do off road and drive moderately aggressive but still. Im disappointed. You basically take regular sidewalk chalk and apply across your whole tire tread in a small area and on dry pavement you go back and forward briefly and check the chalk to be evenly wore off from driving back and forth a short distance such as your driveway. Based on the chalk wear you can tell if you’re overinflated or under inflated for tire pressure and you can adjust accordingly. Perhaps I will do a video on that next to explain in better detail for folks!
