great review ! how is the road noise ? are they quiet ?
Hi, thanks for the vid. Oddly enough this is the exact size I'm looking at getting. I have a 2018 F150. I put 275 70 R18 on which is 33.2". They say 295 70 R18 is 34.26". I just had a 3" suspension lift installed. My question is do you have a lift on your truck and if so what size? I'm not 100% sure if I could go to 35's without rubbing. Thank you!
Hey you bet! I originally had 275/70/18 with 2” level. I switched to 295/70/18 and 2.7” lift from eibach! With my 0 offset at full lock on reverse I rub ever so slightly but only at that instance with the 295s. If you went 35x12.5 you most likely have rubbing issues depending on wheel offset you have
@@TrophyTimeAdventures Thank you...great info! I also have 0 offset wheels. Maybe w my 3" lift I won't have any trouble w the 295s. Best of luck!
@@TrophyTimeAdventures Oh yeah, I put the RC Vertex suspension lift on mine and I'm very happy w it...just fyi
I think you’ll be happy with the 295/70/18 they fill the wheel well nicely on the f150s. 35x12.5 is a great look as well just a little more hit on gas mileage and likely rubbing and/or trimming needed!
@@TrophyTimeAdventures I don't think I want or need 35x12.5. 295 70 R18 is my final answer! Haaa...thanks again bro!
Beautiful truck reminds me of my 16 I had. On my 23 5.0 I’m considering either corsa sport or borla s type. I can’t really gauge which I would rather want because the corsa by what I’ve read is slightly quieter with less drone than the borla but the borla seems to have a deeper tone. Also you brought up a good point on the style of exhaust tips I would love the look of duals but if they make a more hollow sound than side exit I would rather have the better sound quality. Any input would be appreciated with the price of these systems.
I don’t think you could go wrong with either corsa or borla! I prefer the tone you get from the borla paired with the 5.0 coyote. For me I went back to the side exit style as it’s a better option for towing and not resonating of the camper trailer and boat that I tow frequently. I think the S type is a perfect tone from borla. Loved the ATAK as well but got to be too loud when towing for me.
I have the s type and there is zero drone. The main difference is the corsa is more raspy, where the borla is more of a rumble. Depending on the tone you want. After the cold start, the s type idles about as quiet as stock. Can’t even tell you have an exhaust on it until you rev it
@@ParabellumMotivation the more I hear the s type the more I like it. The tone is definitely deeper which the 5.0 needs. On my 16 I had a magnaflow muffler which had a deep tone but wasn’t loud at all just above stock honestly. My 23 I want to have more volume while keeping that tone which seems like the s type for me.
I would agree with you cold starts are mean sounding but tones down at idle and is rather quiet until you get on the Gas!
S-type is the perfect balance! I had and loved the ATAK as well from Borla but it got to be too much especially while towing!
Love it. Sounds mean bro 👍
Hey thanks! Coming from the ATAK it’s slightly quieter which is what I was looking for can’t go wrong with borla either way!
Really nice comparison
Hey thanks!
@@TrophyTimeAdventures you are welcome!
brother has 5100 on 2013 4runner and I have pro truck 2R Eibach on my 2021 4Runner. Eibach is smooth and good, bilstein is rough.
I had the same experience between the two as well! Comes to personal preference really and what you use your rig for, I prefer the smoother ride of the eibachs!
How good does it work in murky Waters
During daylight or sunny timeframe it isn’t bad, visibility is greatly reduced as far as distance but image quality isn’t too bad actually. Tough to use for fishing video purposes in that type of water clarity but for verifying structure or bottom it works well in those conditions!
I got some 285/75/16r about a month ago for a f250, they're great and look pretty good with my bullet hole rims
They have a nice aggressive all terrain sidewall!
Is the transducer the same as the regular (non-ice) unit?
Hey no the transducer with this one is the same you’d get with a ICE 35-55 series. The all-season kit includes a boat transducer as well as ice transducer I believe
@@TrophyTimeAdventures Thanks for the reply. Their models are very confusing to figure out.
You bet! Yeah the regular g4 ice kit just has the traditional humminbird ice transducer, if you’re looking for the boat and ice transducer combo that’s the all season. It should come with each transducers so you’d only have to swap your helix unit (plug and play from boat to ice)
I’m getting my 2nd set of Cooper AT3/XLT tires 275/70/18 next week. I have around 58,000 on my current tires. Great tires, quiet and good traction in rain.
They’re great tires, this is my first summer with them and they do excellent in the rain!
Where did you buy this?
Hey I ordered this intake through stage3motorsports!
Nice looking truck!
Hey thank you!
Might have better ride quality if you flip those shocks around bud.
Bilstein and Eibach are installed this way on F-150s
I have n 18’ f150, I’m confused with these flag nuts and how I’m supposed to use them with the included bolts
Hey they’re meant to go into your main truck chassis frame and the flags in them keep them from spinning freely when you go to fasten the included bolts. Hope that helps!
I thought about doing the same thing due to my mileage (109k) but my engine is quiet. If it starts getting noisy, I’ll probably make the swap to 5w-30. I am running pennzoil ultra platinum and it’s the quietest my engine has been. Switched from the regular platinum. I am interested in the new oil from valvoline called restore & protect. Supposed to clean really well. They showed lake speed how well it cleaned piston after 4k miles and it was impressive. I’m interested because of phasers and vct solenoids that the coyotes have problems with. I haven’t had any issues but I bought my truck used and previous owner didn’t change oil as often as I would like.
Yeah I’m very interested in the restore and protect from Valvoline I may give it a try as well, seen some very good results in other videos and from Valvoline analysis as well. PZ ultra platinum is a good oil as well!
Did you notice an improvement in mpg compared to the Falken wildpeaks?
Hey it’s tough to tell I’m sure a slight increase in mileage with less rotational mass, I do notice improved ride quality over the wildpeaks and more responsive suspension for sure.
Would these work to use in loud noise environment like a flightline ? Would it lower the high frequency noises and amplify the voices of people so you could hear a person better during high pitch noises ?
I don’t it would do that, they are meant to reduce a loud noise like trap shooting or hunting, air nailer, etc. and unfortunately it will reduce everything at the same time. They do enhance normal sound however kind of like. Hearing aid but not simultaneously with excessively loud noise
Great review! I currently have the 5100's set at clip #5 on my Ram 1500. Between the amount of compression I had to do to fit the spring on the shock, plus the valving of the 1500's, I just don't like how stiff the ride is. Mine is my daily driver as well. It actually feels borderline dangerous sometimes, especially bridge transitions on the highway. It will damn near kick my truck sideways to the point that it feels like I might lose control. Honestly, the only thing I like about the 5100's is that there's basically zero body roll. I'm definitely considering this setup as well and hoping it will fix my issues that I've been having on road. It's frustrating spending time and money on a setup that you don't end up liking.
Hey thanks! I feel I was in same situation you’re currently experiencing, the preload to get the lift on the spring will make it stiffer ride, the eibach lifted spring/shock combo is a perfect remedy to the stiff ride. Don’t get me wrong it’s still a firmer ride over stock with the eibachs but it’s in between stock and bilstein I would say. Hope that helps!
@@TrophyTimeAdventures Yeah I don’t mind a little bit of a stiffer ride, as long as I’m not fish tailing or that my truck sounds like it’s about to fall apart after going over potholes and bridges, I’ll be happy lol
Do you have the link to the air line T connector that you used?
Hey I got the air lift brand tee fitting from Amazon linked below: Air Lift 21838 Union Tee www.amazon.com/dp/B001F532PY?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Excellent information, thanks much. I had the exact same Bilstein setup on my ’14 Silverado 1500 w/exception to the tire brand (I had Toyo AT3’s ‘E’ rated). After 25k miles of this I couldn’t take the extra stiff ride. I’ve been scouring the net to get an honest review of the Eibach setup you installed, compared to the Bilstein’s. I recently replaced the Toyo’s and installed the new Falken WIldpeak AT4’s. I went with ‘D’ rated instead of an ‘E’ this time, to help soften the ride on the street. Anyway, the ride with the ‘D’ rated tires is slightly better but not quite enough when I air them up to haul my boat. With that said, I think I’ll pull the trigger and swap out the Bilstein’s (digressive valving) w/the Eibach’s (progressive valving) when I get back from an upcoming fishing trip next week. Thanks again for posting this video and sharing your real-world experience. Much appreciated.
Yeah definitely you’ll find a slightly more comfortable ride with the eibach’s is what I’ve experienced, I’ve switched to a lighter AT tire with different sidewall design as well for more ride comfort
ive got a few ? on this
Hey drop me a comment with your questions I’d be happy to answer if I can!
I love the cedar interior, I don't see a refrigerator though.
That’s correct this one does not have a refrigerator or microwave. Some of the 2017 models did have a microwave on the 165rd models, I think the explorer series it’s standard I believe with microwave and refrigerator
Worth it or no?
It’s an awesome sounding exhaust very deep and aggressive. The cold starts are very loud in the mornings ha. I’m considering going with an s-type actually as it’s a little quieter and I find myself towing more. But just cruising around town the ATAK isn’t terribly loud, only when you want it to be.
I’ve got a 19 Tacoma with 5100s on all 4s. Rides like a lifted go cart which works for my driving style but isn’t very forgiving when it comes to feel. Looking hard at the Eibachs for a little more comfort. Thank you for posting this. It’s big help!
Hey you bet! The eibachs are definitely a softer riding shock I would say when comparing to 5100 shocks. I think the fox 2.0s are a good option too for a softer ride but have heard those don’t last as long for mileage.
@@TrophyTimeAdventures thanks for the info. I really appreciate it.
How about grounding the generator when using? Do you run a cable and stake it into the ground? I've seen a few of these generators that some say you should. What are your thoughts? Thanks.
So far I haven’t had any issues running mine while ice fishing and camping without grounding. I’m also running relatively lower power with it like electronics and a camper furnace, maybe for higher amperage you’d want to ground like a RV air conditioner
good review my guy, i am going for a quiet, snow focused all terrain tire for my land cruiser. you definitely helped me narrow down my choice
Thanks for watching!
Will this fit in my garage??? My garage is 20ft.
My garage is 21.5ft and with motor down and at full turn with swing tongue collapsed I can fit it straight in garage with it slight diagonal in garage. 20 foot garage you’d probably have to be more diagonal to fit that’s all
Only run ethanol free gas in small engines.
I would agree ethanol is not a friend to small engines usually haha
Great review, thank you. You may have gotten many more miles with that much tread left. I understand the rational to replace them just before the next winter season. My personal experience: This will sound like one of the many hyper inflated reviews from people who need to justify their brand loyalty, but I assure you this is real. I have a 2012 Tundra and live in MN. I used 185/55R20 LR-E (127/124R) because I would (infrequently) tow up to 9.5K and preferred the sidewall stability to prevent sway. Most of my driving is paved county roads and highway. Very little off-road like most drivers out there. My last set were installed at 96k miles and replaced at 221,097 miles. That's 125k miles! I'd rotate front to back and check pressure (50# unless towing heavy) every 5k with the oil changes. When they were replaced (just before a winter season), they still had between 4-7 32nds of tread. They got a little louder at around 75k, but nothing like the Wranglers did at 20k. At the time I purchased, they were $40-50/each less that the comparable BFG or GY but now they are significantly more expensive. I now have 46k on the second set and I see nothing that would indicate these won't last just as long. I saw another comment here suggesting there may have been a manufacturing difference between locations. Mine were Thai (2018). I have no other info to compare.
They are a great long lasting tire, I can easily see these going 100k on many trucks. Yeah I’m not sure about the tread compound changes as some have suggested I got these in 2019. The ones I had were a fairly stiff tread compound comparing to the K02s and cooper at3 XLT I’m currently running.
Can the eibach front lift be adjusted like the bilstein? I know bilstein you can arrange the lift by moving the coil spring retainer up or down. Im wondering if with the eibach, you could adjust? What upper control arms do you have? Any link you can share for the upper control arms? Thanks!
Hey yes they can be adjusted with the retaining snap ring for height with the same settings as bilstein 5100. I went with the rancho upper control arms to help with alignment and articulation.
Here’s the link to the upper control arms: www.stage3motorsports.com/rs64501-04-20-f150-rancho-tubular-ball-joint-upper-control-arms.html
Considering this for my my 2010 XLT Triton... should sound good. I need a new exhaust so why not BORLA Atak 🤟🇨🇦
Good choice! The S type is a good option as well!
@@TrophyTimeAdventures It's not as "Aggressive" of a sound though isn't it?
No the ATAK is definitely more aggressive than s-type with more volume, crackles and pops on deceleration. Think s type is just below ATAK in volume and slightly less aggressive tone on the 5.0s. They are both surprisingly quiet at normal cruising with a nice cruising rumble
Do you like the filter cover not having screws?
So far it’s been good and staying put, with the rubber gasket around the polycarbonate it’s a pretty snug fit and don’t think it’s going to fall off.
@@TrophyTimeAdventures cool. I’m fixing to get one. Couldn’t decide between the cover with screws or without. Can you tell a difference in throttle response vs the stock intake
Yeah I ordered from stage3motorsports and website image pictured had the screw style cover however I received the one without screws, perhaps they changed their design maybe. Throttle response is probably slightly improved it’s hard to tell with the 5star tune already loaded which gives really good throttle response.
@@TrophyTimeAdventures nice. Mine isn’t tuned. Hoping to still feel a little difference
I think you will, I feel mid range has a little more snap than with my previous intake. Some guys are claiming better gas mileage as well, time will tell for they if I can stay off the skinny peddle ha
You should clean them to get a better view.
Next video of them I’ll have them nice and clean haha
Thanks from South Australia
You bet thanks for watching!
Nice video! How are your new tires doing in this sloppy snow?
They’ve been great, finally getting some snowy and slushy weather to put them to good use!
Good looking truck man.I love the lift it looks really nice you did a great job on everything.
Thanks! It’s a good setup without going 4 inch lift or bigger and having to cut any metal on your truck while still giving a good lift and stance I think!
@@TrophyTimeAdventures I have a 2015 f150 platinum 4×4 long bed red you gave me some good ideas thank you 😊
Glad to hear love the 2015-2017 body styles on these trucks!
When all else fails read the Mr Heater instructions! You must use the FUEL FILTER when not using tiny bottles.
You betcha!
How are these holding up and your opinion of them 4 months later?
They’ve held up great so far. They are a little softer riding than the bilstein 5100 were but still conforming and controlled. I notice slightly more body roll on corners at highway speed than 5100 but the benefit to me is a smoother more comfortable ride than 5100. They are both great upgrades over stock with the eibachs being slightly more plush riding overall. Hope that helps!
On the 2020 f150 can you have the factory rear wheel fender liners?
You should be able to I have the Husky brand wheel well liners and the kit fits in just fine 👍
Hi there brother, I full time in my camper that I pull with my 2016 f150. Did you have a noticeable difference while towing your camper with these on? Thanks in advance, great video!
Yeah depending on what you have for lift/level, I usually put enough air in to level ride and with my tongue weight that amounts to about 30-35psi with my fish house camper. It definitely stabilizes the ride compared to previously not having them especially over harsher bumps or sweeping turns at highway speed. Coupled with E load tires and stiffer shocks it helps even more, hope that helps!
Seems like a lot of labor and money for such a small leak. I have a 2015 5.0 which may or may not be leaking the same. Could be oil spill by mechanic. I’m just going to monitor it for now. Not adding oil between changes and 119,000 miles.
Yeah I’m debating on replacing it now or just keeping an eye on it. At first I thought it was just spillover from oil change fill up a few changes ago. But now it’s leaking noticeably more compared to then, still not horrible but keep an eye on it if it gets worse!
Thanks for the heads up though, I will definitely keep a close eye on it. Informative video.
I bought some permatex ultra grey gasket maker and sealant we’ll see if I can re-seal them from the outside that way before tearing off valve covers and replacing seals 👍
How does it drive? Whats the ride like?
When towing around 5-6000lb it depends on the amount of air pressure you put in but I’m around 30-35 psi and it’s still comfortable while providing more stability and leveling the truck. When unloaded and daily driving I ride with the recommended 5psi and notice no difference from the way it rode before without the airbag system installed.
Why don't you wash the car?
It was definitely due for one
Why don’t you watch a different video?
Bluetooth music any?
These ones do not have Bluetooth connectivity however some of their other models do from Walkers
@@TrophyTimeAdventures thank you for the reply appreciate ya!
You bet!
How often do u rotate em?
I’d usually shoot for around 6k miles give or take to rotate.
whats the set up,is it only the catback
That's correct it's just the cat-back ATAK system from Borla with dual rear exit tips. The Y-pipe and headers are stock.
Roses a red, violets are blue. This video starts, at 1:22.
I like the rhyme
very nice!!
Thanks for watching!
Do you have any drone on the high way?
Hello there’s no drone with this setup, just a nice rumble when cruising at speed. I came from mbrp system and that’s why I upgraded was the drone got to be too much. Hope that helps!
For a daily driver, I might agree. But if doing any off-roading (other than a gravel drive) the Bilstein's would be my pick for sure. I've tried Eibach's on some serious off-roading (Moab UT/Ouray CO) and big let down, went back to Bilstein. But each their own.
Yeah I think if I was running some serious off roading regularly that is probably where the bilstein shines. For my mild off road and service roads with primary daily drive the eibachs were better suited for the ride I was looking for. It really comes down to personal preference, which bilstein setup are you running? 5100 or 6112?
Does it pop when it doesn’t shifts to like 5th gear? Coming to a stop
Yeah it does making pop noises when decelerating or coasting down a hill or coming to a stop typically. It’s a pretty aggressive exhaust!
