@@thongtran9784 so been using this laptop for a few hours and I like it a lot! The Far Cry 5 bechmark runs on it almost at the same frame rate as the Razer blade advanced with 2070 super max-q (around 70 fps on ultra). The thing that's worse than the Razer is that the screen is not as bright. At the max brightness is ok though (maybe I'm used to very bright monitors). But for the rest, I like it more than the razer. Here are some points: 1. Razer I returned had a high pitched sound from the GPU fan that was driving me crazy.. Turns out this is a common issue with the Razers. This one doesn't have this problem. The fans are loud when under load, but no whistling/high pitched sounds come from them. 2. Razer was using the fans when both my external monitors were connected to it and I was merely browsing some stuff on the net. The G14 is silent when I have the same setup and do browsing or youtube watching. 3. You can see the fingerprints on Razer more than on the G14. The cool thing is that the palmrest doesn't leave any fingerprints at all (it's covered with some kind of hard rubbery stuff) 4. The G14 has a fingerprint sensor that I use, while Razer has the windows hello that I don't use. 5. The Razer's keyboard has a better lighting. The G14's keyboard is easier to type on. I'll keep the G14. It's gonna be the computer I use for the next few years. Fyi, my configuration is the one with the 2060 max-q.

speaking of battery longevity, they also let you set the maximum charge to 60 or 80% to put less wear on the battery when having it plugged in all the time
@@mikemijora2358 first it bypasses charging completely even on max load, that's just due to having a big PSU, but on certain laptops with weak chargers, you can see battery drain even with the charger plugged in, which means you're wasting battery charge cycles even with the charger plugged in, it happens on macbooks quite a lot, this feature guarantees that no charging happens beyond your target %, batteries also get trickle charged at 100%, having the battery fully charged for a prolonged period of time decreases the life of the battery, higher potential energy increases the chemical stress in the electrodes which speeds up degradation, keeping it at 60-80% is the best way to store batteries
@@mikemijora2358 Batteries work by the cells getting “excited”. When the laptop is constantly at 100%, that will constantly keep the battery in the excited state, and it will heavily the longevity of the battery. Normally the battery life I can get in real-life use is only approx 3 hours (office work, web browsing, no gaming). I guess if you turn the computer on and set screen brightness to low, and leave the computer alone (no task running at all), you could get 8 hours battery life then.
Happy you enjoyed the video! I was playing DOOM Eternal and A Story About My Uncle. DOOM is just pure gameplay, very nice to sit down and relax to once you get the hang of quick weapon swapping.
Using one with Ryzen 7 / 16gb / RTX 2060 It gets warm, it gets noisy a bit, but running Flight Sim with high specs, for instance.. Nothing to complain about, great machine.
Don't know if you know this but Bob of all trades has a video on how to make the G14 run cooler. You also check out the reddit sub for the 14 for more information on this.
I have the exact same configuration, and I’m finding even with simple/light games like fall guys and planet coaster on the lowest possible settings the CPU&GPU are hitting 65-70 Celsius, which is after the thermal fix, and the chassis is hot to the touch especially at the very top of the keyboard and around the WASD keys. Not hot enough to cause concern but hot enough to warm enough to make me check anxiously what my temps are mid game 😂
@@joshuawells4842 noticed exactly the same with the chassis burning at the very top. You can't leave your fingers on it. I ran flight Sim and Forza Horizon 4, both run quite well but it gets me anxious about the lifespan of the laptop when I see it getting so hot.
I use it on my lap or bed for general browsing/word processing, but it impacts sound quality during content consumption, really need a hard surface to make the most of those speakers! As for gaming I’m too much of a chicken to try it on my lap or bed because of restricted airflow to an already rather warm chassis.
Appreciate all you guys giving your answer. Been looking to get this laptop, and I've been worrying whether it's a good laptop to carry around when lockdowns end.
Does anybody know if you can play games liker nier: automata ad devil may cry 5 on this? Or does anybody know game laptops under 900 to 1000 can run those games?
You should already be at a million right now, if not more! One question tho, do the surface temps get really high, like uncomfortably high? Please do tell for both cases , doing simple productivity and while gaming
Never uncomfortably hot, even on the performance fan profile. There's Windows > Performance > Turbo > Manual (max fans). Performance is pretty quiet, not very loud IMO but the surface near the top of the keyboard gets hot like a hot tub. With fans at full speed, it's warm at most (while gaming). Light use, I don't think it really warms up. Part of that might be because the surface uses a material that's thermally insulating. Like how silicone is used for oven mitts because they insulate heat very well. Soft feeling and thermally insulating, but don't quote me on that. I would first need to confirm the material used for the surface finish.

Thing is most laptop manufacturers do not design their own displays, they buy displays from other companies. For example, all the 15" OLED screens you see on laptops like the Blade 15, XPS 15, Aero 15, those are all made by Samsung and are designed by Samsung too. It would cost a tremendous amount of money for a factory to create machines only to manufacture LCD panels to ASUS' exact specs. Most windows laptop manufacturers are at the mercy of whatever panel is available on the market because that's the cheapest option. Since 14" gaming laptops aren't mature yet, display manufacturers probably won't be rushing to invest lots of money into making better 14" screens for a while. Not until there's big demand for them. Bit unfortunate, but there's not much ASUS can do. If they design their own custom screen, the tooling would cost so much that the laptop would have to jump a couple hundred bucks in price to pay that off. At that point, it loses its value proposition and fewer people will buy this, making the investment a massive loss.
Both displays have poor colour accuracy, only about 65% sRGB for both the 60Hz and the 144Hz panels. Aside from that, I have a feeling the battery life would be terrible even by gaming laptop standards, since it's only a 48Whr battery.
@@ashmitsharma9096 the more the colours the panel can see, the more vibrant and rich the whole experience of gaming (or even just watching a movie) will be. And the panels on the F15 also have a maximum brightness of only about 250 nits, which is not ideal. This is a actually a pretty dim display. You should have atleast 300nits or above in your displays. This will both make the whole experience of gaming more enjoyable, while also allowing you to perform better since you can see smaller details and stuff
Considering response time, for someone who hasn’t used a low pixel response time monitor or screen, would there be a noticeable difference from like a regular 20-30ms screen to a sub 5ms?
So here's the thing right. I don't doubt that some people can subconsciously tell the difference between response times because I have trained my ears to tell small differences between different headphones and different keyboards, but only because I have extensive experience with both category of products. I'm not trained in response times so I can't tell, and I also focus too much on the gameplay to even tell 144hz from 60hz (for example, it takes a lot of concentration to rapidly switch between 10 different weapons in DOOM Eternal). If you take the time to compare a good monitor against a bad monitor side by side, you can learn what to look out for and be able to subconsciously tell what response times you're looking at. To answer your question, someone with little to no experience will likely not be able to tell if their response times are good or bad without concentrating hard and actively looking out for it. And even then, unless you've seen what good response times look like, you probably won't be able to tell since you don't have a point of reference.
If it's just a desktop replacement then sure, go for the Omen. I own the g14 and I love it because it's really portable, performant and has decent battery. If you don't need the portability or the battery or you want it to run cooler, a bigger laptop will probably serve you better.
@@TheThonanth Thank you so much! Yes, I will actually be using the laptop as my primary device. Ultra portability is not a requirement for me, but at the same time no portability (i.e desktop) is also not an option. I've been stuck with the g14 vs omen 15 dilemma for a long while now, so thank you so much for your input! 😄
Why is it so hard to find a 120Hz G14 in the black finish? Also is it possible to get the black finish with the RTX 2060 Max-Q and 120Hz display? Thanks for the awesome videos! Keep it up!
Varies from country to country what configuration is available unfortunately. I tried to get the Ryzen 74800HS with RTX2060 Max-Q 120Hz and was told I’d have to wait until January for it in black, so I had to get the white instead, safe to say I’m very happy with my purchase.
Probably this because the main issues here are the heat and loud fans which is a tradeoff for the portability and size of this laptop. I guess the questions you should be asking yourself is if you want the battery life? the portability? which price points? camera no camera? Comparing the cons of each will help you decide on one :).

Sir, can you please help that, ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 has 8gb Soldered and 1 slot is remaining for RAM. Can we add 16gb DDR4 3200 mhz stick to there, means it'll become (8+16). Is this safe..❓ perform well..❓Many people says that it isn't safe and (8+16) Performs same like (8+8)..❓ Company is saying that it is expandable upto 24gb..❓ Please Reply. I'm in Dilemma 🙄🤔
Yes, you can. What people mean by 8+8 is the first 8GB of your 8GB stick will run in dual channel, meaning double the bandwidth because your CPU reads and writes from the 8GB soldered RAM and the first 8GB of your 16GB stick. The remaining 8GB of your 16GB stick runs in single channel, so half the maximum possible bandwidth. This is inevitable because ASUS chose to solder on the other 8GB DIMM. Your total RAM will be 8+16 = 24GB, the first 16GB of RAM used will be double bandwidth (better performance, basically) and the last 8GB will have the bandwidth of only one stick. There is nothing unsafe about it, it's just not ideal. If you had two sticks of 16GB, it means all your RAM will run in dual channel, meaning maximum performance.

Hey! AMAZING WORK ON THESE VIDEOS! I had one question. Is the Ryzen 5 4600HS, 1650ti varient of this laptop good for multitasking, designing and casual gaming? Please reply!
Design is a broad term. Graphics design , yeah it'll do. CAD design in something like Fusion 360, eh depends on the complexity of your models but should be acceptable. Web and UI design in something like Figma should be fine on a potato. 1650 Ti should be fine for casual gaming, which I would define as 1080p medium. Again, what you mean by design and the complexity of your projects will dictate how fast of a computer you need. But I don't believe that configuration will fail to meet minimum requirements for any big programs.

Just returned my Razer Blade 15 advanced, and bought the Zephyrus G14. Let's see if I made a good choice...
How is it?
@@thongtran9784 it will be delivered today. Will reply after using it fot a bit
Here are some points:
The cool thing is that the palmrest doesn't leave any fingerprints at all (it's covered with some kind of hard rubbery stuff)
@@FrequencyModulator wise choice. Have fun with your new beast!
@@FrequencyModulator Just the info i need.. thanks man! I was stuck between these 2 laptops but now im pretty sure about the G14.

Do you think you're missing out by opting for the smaller screen or is it barely noticeable once you get used to it?
Been on the fence about getting it because there are thinner machines and machines with better specs. But there isnt one that is as well rounded as the g14 for its price point. Ordered mine today with the 2060 max q for the extra power, thanks for the review keep up the good work 👌🏻
FYI it does run word at 120 fps solid.

Got the G14 with the 4900HS and 2060 MaxQ. Love every bit of it, especially the keyboard, gets a lot of attention when I pull it out in public, too for better or worse.
I just got one as well. It's a very well rounded machine. I got it thinking I'll probably just end up returning it because of some major flaw, but I really am having trouble finding that, so it looks like I'll probably be keeping it.

speaking of battery longevity, they also let you set the maximum charge to 60 or 80% to put less wear on the battery when having it plugged in all the time
how does charging your battery to 60 or 80 percent put less wear on it?
@@mikemijora2358
Batteries work by the cells getting “excited”. When the laptop is constantly at 100%, that will constantly keep the battery in the excited state, and it will heavily the longevity of the battery. That is why most lithium batteries are about 50% when they are being shipped, so that they last in storage as long as possible. Over discharging to 0% also heavily impacts the battery.

A reviewer beeing good at a game is kinda rare.
Were there any software issues like some people are reporting?
I have a g14 and one minor thing I wish was better is the keyboard lighting. It is pretty bad and I never even have them turned on.
When running Premiere Pro, I encountered this message "Your screen resolution is below the minimum requirement 1024 x 768..." with the current text scaling of 200% so i have to lower it down to 125%. For content creation, what is the best text scaling you are using?
I use 125% regardless of the task I'm doing. Default scaling is too big, barely fits any content on my screen.
Great! At least i got someone that can affirm my settings 😊, will stick with 125% then. Thanks
How is it with video and photo editing, would you recommend?
Normally the battery life I can get in real-life use is only approx 3 hours (office work, web browsing, no gaming). I guess if you turn the computer on and set screen brightness to low, and leave the computer alone (no task running at all), you could get 8 hours battery life then.
Best G14 review on RUclips hands down!
Question:
Would you pick this over the Razer Blade Base?
Do you have any idea on the dell g7 7500 with i7 and gtx 1660ti about its thermals and performance?
Came for the review, stayed for the game. Brilliant review. Love the colour of this laptop. What game are you playing?

It gets warm, it gets noisy a bit, but running Flight Sim with high specs, for instance..
@@snarkybynature Thanks for the info, I took a look, didn't get to apply changes yet and verify how it goes.
@@joshuawells4842 noticed exactly the same with the chassis burning at the very top. You can't leave your fingers on it. I ran flight Sim and Forza Horizon 4, both run quite well but it gets me anxious about the lifespan of the laptop when I see it getting so hot.
Would you advise against using this laptop on your lap, or is it cool enough during light productivity to do so?
I use it on my lap or bed for general browsing/word processing, but it impacts sound quality during content consumption, really need a hard surface to make the most of those speakers!
As for gaming I’m too much of a chicken to try it on my lap or bed because of restricted airflow to an already rather warm chassis.

@@danielhernandez892 im getting a gtx 1660 Tı with 144hz is that good? İm getting the hp omen 15

Hi! At 10:47 you mention that if one is able to get 10 hours of battery life, three years down the line they'd get around 8 hours. Is this true for every laptop in general or only particular to this one? (I didn't get the reason)
It's true for anything that has a battery. It's due to the fact that batteries tend to degrade over time.

What game are you playing at 2:55 ?
Hey I have not seen a single review of ASUS TUF Gaming F15 laptop. Can you tell any con of the laptop ?
Both displays have poor colour accuracy, only about 65% sRGB for both the 60Hz and the 144Hz panels.
Aside from that, I have a feeling the battery life would be terrible even by gaming laptop standards, since it's only a 48Whr battery.
@@siddarthramachandran8938 How is colour accuracy related to gaming experience?
@@ashmitsharma9096 the more the colours the panel can see, the more vibrant and rich the whole experience of gaming (or even just watching a movie) will be.
And the panels on the F15 also have a maximum brightness of only about 250 nits, which is not ideal. This is a actually a pretty dim display. You should have atleast 300nits or above in your displays. This will both make the whole experience of gaming more enjoyable, while also allowing you to perform better since you can see smaller details and stuff
And, almost 30ms lag on the screen. Plus it has some cooling problems as well.
@Siddarth Ramachandran
Can you please recommend any better laptop in same price range ?
Considering response time, for someone who hasn’t used a low pixel response time monitor or screen, would there be a noticeable difference from like a regular 20-30ms screen to a sub 5ms?
You'd probably notice the reverse direction. It's a bit like going back to 30fps once you've used 60/75/90.
Should I go for this or the Omen 15 2020 version given my main usage is deep learning?
If it's just a desktop replacement then sure, go for the Omen. I own the g14 and I love it because it's really portable, performant and has decent battery. If you don't need the portability or the battery or you want it to run cooler, a bigger laptop will probably serve you better.
@@TheThonanth Thank you so much! Yes, I will actually be using the laptop as my primary device. Between this and the omen 15, which would be better for casual gaming but more light tasks such as writing documents and browsing the web?
Probably this because the main issues here are the heat and loud fans which is a tradeoff for the portability and size of this laptop. I guess the questions you should be asking yourself is if you want the battery life? the portability? which price points? camera no camera? Comparing the cons of each will help you decide on one :).

ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 has 8gb Soldered and 1 slot is remaining for RAM.
Can we add 16gb DDR4 3200 mhz stick to there, means it'll become (8+16).
Is this safe..❓ perform well..❓Many people says that it isn't safe and (8+16) Performs same like (8+8)..❓
Company is saying that it is expandable upto 24gb..❓
Please Reply.
Is it good for non gaming purposes like photo/video editing, office work etc
Yes it's 8 cores 16 threads will shred through anything
