I forgot to talk about the LEDs on the back of the screen but in short, I don't really care for them. LEDs drain battery, and I don't think I would show that off in public. It's not REALLY a flex if the only reason people notice is because you've got lights flashing in their face lol.
Otherwise, absolute champ of a laptop. If you want an excellent all-around laptop, this is it. I'm curious to know if you would opt for a 4800H in this laptop, there seems to be plenty of thermal headroom left with the fans kicking.
What are the specs on your laptop? I have a G14 with a 4800H (with the 1660ti) but it apparently is a special version running at 35 watts. Runs cool, but based on other reviews comparing it to laptops with a similar Ryzen configuration, it is considerably slower than the 4900hs version.
I have a g14, I want to get a 144hz monitor. Is that possible and do you face any problems when doing that

For some reason, RUclips just recommended this to me. Such a nice presentation, I think this channel deserves more. Subscribed looking forward to new videos.
subbed, your narration is clear and you take things in the order. I really enjoyed the video even if there are videos that a more precise about this laptop
This is also great with photoshop and lightroom work as well. I love it!
I subscribed, primarily because you are the only reviewer so far that covers beyond the typical review. I don't see any other reviewers using their own gear to cover the screen's contrast ratio, color coverage etc. Covering the trackpad material was also a plus. Thanks for sharing your findings! Please continue doing these display tests as they are really great!
Also if you happen to know of a Laptop with VA panel instead of IPS please let me know. IPS panels are junk to me with sub par contrast ratio while VA panels have usually 3x more contrast ratio than IPS (1000:1 vs 3000:1).
Really nice review I have never seen such detailed review in ages
Tbh your videos have more clarity and are much more understandable for dummies like me. Thank you very much for the knowledge sir
Thanx for sharing the wallpaper link. It looks fantastic.
Now, time to review the big bro zephyrus s17!
Awesome review though!
Thx for the review
Took 4 days to make, feelsbadman. Glad you liked it!
i have the r9 model. It's working great so far
4 mins into the video, you still havent mentioned the specs...hope you can incorporate this into your future videos. Great videos but we need to know what we are looking at from the get go.
You make a good point. I was going to say my spec doesn't matter because it can be configured with different CPUs and GPUs, but you mean to give the viewer context into the class of laptop. I'll look into a way of incorporating it smoothly
@@InfinityLabsTech Exactly.

Do you have the 1080p version? How's the screen? :)

Ez. Throw ice bomb over his head and lock on missiles. Need to lock before throwing ice bomb though. If that fails, either super shotgun then lock on missiles, or super shotgun then BFG right in front of him. Or if you wanna be cheap and lazy, just shoot rockets to his side and remote detonate behind him. It'll stagger and let you super shotgun or ballista.
I want to try out the Taras Nabad arena mod. You get to face three marauders at once haha
@@InfinityLabsTech Haha, thanks for the advice! I think in the new DLC they pit you against three marauders at once. Hope to see you try it in some of your content!
Awesome video as always! I really like this laptop but the lack of an intergrated webcam sucks. I also wanted to wait for Zen 3 and RTX 3000 series. Hoping that they'll update this laptop with new hardware soon.
I had a midterm recently and was like hmmmm where's my webcam. Luckily I had a USB webcam that I bought 5 years ago. I think they could reasonably improve the cooling by a large margin if they used a big vapor chamber with bigger fans to accommodate the higher wattage Ryzen CPUs and a full fat 3060. Big hopes for this gem of a laptop
I'm looking at a helios 300 and it's got a 2060 with an i7-10750h for $1200 new. I have a laptop with a 1050 and an i5-8300h right now. So I'm not sure if I should get this Helios or wait for laptops with a 3000 series and the new intel/AMD chips. Do you think the prices will be comparable?
@@UnlimitedHatred wait do you have the lenovo legion y530, just curious as it has the same spec as yours
@@InfinityLabsTech I have midterm this Wednesday. Fortunately, it won't be monitored. this is definitely my ideal size! It's so rare to see a good 14 inch gaming laptop. I'm glad you made a review on it.
@@UnlimitedHatred personally, if you really need a laptop now, I wouldn't wait since it might be a while until they update the specs on the newer gen laptops. However, if you can wait, that'll be awesome since you can see how big of a performance jump you'll get from the new gen and if you feel that it's not significant enough, you can always get the last gen helios 300 at an even cheaper price.
Excellent review.
subscribed! Something that a video review cannot convey is how good this laptop feels. I just came back from Bestbuy and Costco which is next door and this has the feel of an old school Macbook Pro. Not as stiff, not as good keyboard but general feel that somebody at Asus cared.
My favorite review by far. Liked and subbed. 👍👍
Very good review. 👍 deserve higher subscriptions numbers for sure.
Do you have any idea on the dell g7 7500 with i7 and gtx 1660ti about its thermals and performance?
This is what I would call a good review. Thanks
This has been one of my favorite computer purchases I've made.
Possibly one of the best all around laptops gaming or not.
Especially when build & battery life rivals macbook pro's all day long
Such a huge thank you for review & that mention of response time issue which is NOT huge deal & possibly only issue in this laptop
But there is no dual channe land second ssd slot
Perfect review for this laptop.
Best G14 review on RUclips hands down!
Question:
Would you pick this over the Razer Blade Base?
Been on the fence about getting it because there are thinner machines and machines with better specs. But there isnt one that is as well rounded as the g14 for its price point. Ordered mine today with the 2060 max q for the extra power, thanks for the review keep up the good work 👌🏻
FYI it does run word at 120 fps solid.

Great review
Where did you purchase it?
I have a white one with a Ryzen 4900hs, and a RTX 2060 and its been fantastic. No complaints here
what about temperature and fan noise?
@@aawishkhan Mine runs at about 80c on the cpu and 75c on gpu during Warzone. Fan noise is pretty audible, but non existent with headphones, fans do there job flawlessly
@@aawishkhan fan noise is noticeable on a quiet room but I always use headphones so I don’t notice it, temps might reach 80C and up but you can easily disable boost and get 65C max on Intense games. Disabling the boost might drop a maximum of 5 frames on games like battlefield 5 but on average it might drop 3. I don’t know about other games but there’s basically no difference on boost disabled.

Were there any software issues like some people are reporting?
Got the same model in Aug, and honestly the best choice with respect to electronics I've ever made. 60% charge and I can easily get upto 5.5 hours after some few tweaks. Powerful Ryzen 7 CPU. Puts Intel CPUs to shame. And Display and Sound are just sooo good.
Any updates now? Still working?
I'm looking for a laptop for programming. Was looking to purchase lenovo ThinkPad e14 gen 2 but it's not available and t14 gen 1 is way overpriced. Should I go with base variant of g14?
What do you mean by "not internally nor externally" regarding the camera? Is there a hidden feature where a camera just suddenly comes and pops out of the laptop?
AMD kicked Intel in the ass with the Ryzen 9 on Laptop. More cores, more power but less temperature. I am waiting what Intel would offer next year!
How is it comparison with Acer Triton 300 2020? I5 10500?
Just got the ryzen 9 version with rtx 2060 max-q, Loving it!!

@@N57Icarus yes me too. i just got same as yours yesterday.
Can it beat 11th gen intel laptops and MacBook with m1 chip in professional work?
When running Premiere Pro, I encountered this message "Your screen resolution is below the minimum requirement 1024 x 768..." with the current text scaling of 200% so i have to lower it down to 125%. For content creation, what is the best text scaling you are using?
I use 125% regardless of the task I'm doing. Default scaling is too big, barely fits any content on my screen.
Great! At least i got someone that can affirm my settings 😊, will stick with 125% then. Thanks
How is it with video and photo editing, would you recommend?
Care full with temperature 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Where did u get the thumbnail wallpaper??
Got the G14 with the 4900HS and 2060 MaxQ. Love every bit of it, especially the keyboard, gets a lot of attention when I pull it out in public, too for better or worse.
I just got one as well. It's a very well rounded machine. I got it thinking I'll probably just end up returning it because of some major flaw, but I really am having trouble finding that, so it looks like I'll probably be keeping it.
I have just purchased the GA401IH version with 4800HS and "mere" GTX 1650. So far I am happy and in my humble opinion for 1080 screen 1650 shall be sufficient for High game settings targeting 60 fps for non competitive gamer like me. The GA401II version with GTX 1660Ti is around $600 more expensive here. I hope I am not left wanting though. LoL.
One technology making 2060 worth getting is DLSS. It makes a machine much more future-proof, scaling low-rez for higher one and giving lots of FPS. 1660 Ti can’t do that, so not worth it IMO.
1650 - i guess, if it’s cheap and you’re ok with it... But is it cheap enough? G14 - not a budget laptop by definition.
I'm going to wait for Asus to release a revised version in a year or two and hopefully get that
How does this perform in video editing (specifically, Davinci Studio - paid ver)?
Hi! At 10:47 you mention that if one is able to get 10 hours of battery life, three years down the line they'd get around 8 hours. Is this true for every laptop in general or only particular to this one? (I didn't get the reason)
It's true for anything that has a battery. It's due to the fact that batteries tend to degrade over time.
Hi, I have a doubt please, does that laptop produce too much sound?
Hey! AMAZING WORK ON THESE VIDEOS!
I had one question. Is the Ryzen 5 4600HS, 1650ti varient of this laptop good for multitasking, designing and casual gaming?
Please reply!
Design is a broad term. Graphics design , yeah it'll do. CAD design in something like Fusion 360, eh depends on the complexity of your models but should be acceptable. Web and UI design in something like Figma should be fine on a potato. 1650 Ti should be fine for casual gaming, which I would define as 1080p medium.
Again, what you mean by design and the complexity of your projects will dictate how fast of a computer you need. But I don't believe that configuration will fail to meet minimum requirements for any big programs.
@@InfinityLabsTech That's exactly right! I do graphic design and UI/UX design. Thank you for this reply, now I know what I have to go for!
Why is it so hard to find a 120Hz G14 in the black finish? Also is it possible to get the black finish with the RTX 2060 Max-Q and 120Hz display? Thanks for the awesome videos! Keep it up!
Varies from country to country what configuration is available unfortunately.
I tried to get the Ryzen 74800HS with RTX2060 Max-Q 120Hz and was told I’d have to wait until January for it in black, so I had to get the white instead, safe to say I’m very happy with my purchase.
you're a good reviewer!
Considering response time, for someone who hasn’t used a low pixel response time monitor or screen, would there be a noticeable difference from like a regular 20-30ms screen to a sub 5ms?
You'd probably notice the reverse direction. It's a bit like going back to 30fps once you've used 60/75/90.
So here's the thing right. I don't doubt that some people can subconsciously tell the difference between response times because I have trained my ears to tell small differences between different headphones and different keyboards, but only because I have extensive experience with both category of products. I'm not trained in response times so I can't tell, and I also focus too much on the gameplay to even tell 144hz from 60hz (for example, it takes a lot of concentration to rapidly switch between 10 different weapons in DOOM Eternal). If you take the time to compare a good monitor against a bad monitor side by side, you can learn what to look out for and be able to subconsciously tell what response times you're looking at. To answer your question, someone with little to no experience will likely not be able to tell if their response times are good or bad without concentrating hard and actively looking out for it. And even then, unless you've seen what good response times look like, you probably won't be able to tell since you don't have a point of reference.
Is the air vent problem to the screen?
Would you recommend this as a long term laptop ?
1 month ago.. but anyways yes.

I think you forgot to elaborate about the charging part?
Uhh LMFAO I was gonna say 65 watts is enough for light-moderate use, but gaming off the USB-C port will slowly drain the battery. This implementation is a convenience feature, it doesn't support the full 100 watt USB-C spec that would otherwise have fully powered it.
He forgot many things. If he started explaining everything then the video will be very long. Anyways he has given a very good review
@@InfinityLabsTech I'm not even sure 100w would've powered it unless the CPU was clock/power restricted, 65w+35w=100w just in silicon already.
Does the white variant have same finish as this one?
Do you face any problem any charging issues, with this Asus rog zyfrus G14
pls reply 🙏🙏🙏
Would you advise against using this laptop on your lap, or is it cool enough during light productivity to do so?
I use it on my lap or bed for general browsing/word processing, but it impacts sound quality during content consumption, really need a hard surface to make the most of those speakers!
As for gaming I’m too much of a chicken to try it on my lap or bed because of restricted airflow to an already rather warm chassis.
Appreciate all you guys giving your answer. Been looking to get this laptop, and I've been worrying whether it's a good laptop to carry around when lockdowns end.
Is this ok for graphic designers too? Motion graphics, animations
Nice review as always!
Between this and the omen 15, which would be better for casual gaming but more light tasks such as writing documents and browsing the web?
Probably this because the main issues here are the heat and loud fans which is a tradeoff for the portability and size of this laptop. I guess the questions you should be asking yourself is if you want the battery life? the portability? which price points? camera no camera? Comparing the cons of each will help you decide on one :).
This vs hp envy 15 ( with rtx 2060 max q too)
3:46 Finally a Techtuber who is good at Doom Eternal!
Just an FYI, you should consider undervolting/overclocking the GPU. I did on my 2060 model, and was matching out-of-box performance of 95-110W 2060 laptops.
How?
I have a g14 and one minor thing I wish was better is the keyboard lighting. It is pretty bad and I never even have them turned on.
You should already be at a million right now, if not more!
One question tho, do the surface temps get really high, like uncomfortably high? Please do tell for both cases , doing simple productivity and while gaming
Never uncomfortably hot, even on the performance fan profile. There's Windows > Performance > Turbo > Manual (max fans). Performance is pretty quiet, not very loud IMO but the surface near the top of the keyboard gets hot like a hot tub. With fans at full speed, it's warm at most (while gaming).
Light use, I don't think it really warms up. Part of that might be because the surface uses a material that's thermally insulating. Like how silicone is used for oven mitts because they insulate heat very well. Soft feeling and thermally insulating, but don't quote me on that. I would first need to confirm the material used for the surface finish.
@@InfinityLabsTech wow, cool. Thanks!
how do you think this one compares to the new 2021 3060 g14?
i have g14 and when i run userbenchmark i get really bad results like it doesnt make sense like im using a really bad laptop, i use performance mode, tried going back drivers, and also use latest ones, and helpl or advice would be appreiciated
Make sure you have it set to use the Nvidia GPU in all the tests
I have one myself, and it's plauged by reliability issues. It constantly drops wifi, and a lot of other owners are experiencing this problem. If you can, wait for a second gen. Also, the response time of the screen is around 25ms, so don't expect to do any competitive gaming.
Damn, everybody talks about the G14 like it's the perfect thin and light... Thank you for giving some actually useful advice!!
I have the top spec'd G14 in black, zero issues with it thus far, love this perfect laptop! No wifi issues, no heating issues. GPU hovers around 70-72C in warzone, and CPU hovers around 65C after boost turned off. Experience no difference whatsoever after boost has been turned off.
@@mcmossimo it doesn't matter that you have the highest model, all models share the same network card. I guess you were lucky.
speaking of battery longevity, they also let you set the maximum charge to 60 or 80% to put less wear on the battery when having it plugged in all the time
how does charging your battery to 60 or 80 percent put less wear on it?
@@mikemijora2358 first it bypasses charging completely even on max load, that's just due to having a big PSU, but on certain laptops with weak chargers, you can see battery drain even with the charger plugged in, which means you're wasting battery charge cycles even with the charger plugged in, it happens on macbooks quite a lot, this feature guarantees that no charging happens beyond your target %, batteries also get trickle charged at 100%, having the battery fully charged for a prolonged period of time decreases the life of the battery, higher potential energy increases the chemical stress in the electrodes which speeds up degradation, keeping it at 60-80% is the best way to store batteries
@@mikemijora2358
Batteries work by the cells getting “excited”. When the laptop is constantly at 100%, that will constantly keep the battery in the excited state, and it will heavily the longevity of the battery. That is why most lithium batteries are about 50% when they are being shipped, so that they last in storage as long as possible. Over discharging to 0% also heavily impacts the battery.
Should I go for this or the Omen 15 2020 version given my main usage is deep learning?
If it's just a desktop replacement then sure, go for the Omen. I own the g14 and I love it because it's really portable, performant and has decent battery. If you don't need the portability or the battery or you want it to run cooler, a bigger laptop will probably serve you better.
@@TheThonanth Thank you so much! Yes, I will actually be using the laptop as my primary device. Ultra portability is not a requirement for me, but at the same time no portability (i.e desktop) is also not an option. I've been stuck with the g14 vs omen 15 dilemma for a long while now, so thank you so much for your input! 😄
@@TheThonanth thanks it helps alot.. im prolly gonna get omen 15 2020, cuz its more cheaper but still g14 is slightly better than omen.

Sir, can you please help that,
ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 has 8gb Soldered and 1 slot is remaining for RAM.
Can we add 16gb DDR4 3200 mhz stick to there, means it'll become (8+16).
Is this safe..❓ perform well..❓Many people says that it isn't safe and (8+16) Performs same like (8+8)..❓
Company is saying that it is expandable upto 24gb..❓
Please Reply. I'm in Dilemma 🙄🤔
Yes, you can. What people mean by 8+8 is the first 8GB of your 8GB stick will run in dual channel, meaning double the bandwidth because your CPU reads and writes from the 8GB soldered RAM and the first 8GB of your 16GB stick. The remaining 8GB of your 16GB stick runs in single channel, so half the maximum possible bandwidth. This is inevitable because ASUS chose to solder on the other 8GB DIMM.
Your total RAM will be 8+16 = 24GB, the first 16GB of RAM used will be double bandwidth (better performance, basically) and the last 8GB will have the bandwidth of only one stick. There is nothing unsafe about it, it's just not ideal. If you had two sticks of 16GB, it means all your RAM will run in dual channel, meaning maximum performance.
If you can pls get Aorus 15G as it has a mech keyboard and I wanted to hear your view about it as you are the only youtuber who spends time tanking about keyboards which use more than anything.
Oh you want mechanical keyboards do ya? Do not fret, I have around $4000 in custom mechanical keyboards that I will soon make a video on.

Hey I have not seen a single review of ASUS TUF Gaming F15 laptop. Can you tell any con of the laptop ?
Both displays have poor colour accuracy, only about 65% sRGB for both the 60Hz and the 144Hz panels.
Aside from that, I have a feeling the battery life would be terrible even by gaming laptop standards, since it's only a 48Whr battery.
@@siddarthramachandran8938 How is colour accuracy related to gaming experience?
@@ashmitsharma9096 the more the colours the panel can see, the more vibrant and rich the whole experience of gaming (or even just watching a movie) will be.
And the panels on the F15 also have a maximum brightness of only about 250 nits, which is not ideal. This is a actually a pretty dim display. You should have atleast 300nits or above in your displays. This will both make the whole experience of gaming more enjoyable, while also allowing you to perform better since you can see smaller details and stuff
And, almost 30ms lag on the screen. Plus it has some cooling problems as well.

Can u review zephyrus m15 please
Hey man it's never too late to review. There is a huge sale in India right now and this laptop is available. I am sure your comprehensive review will be helping buyers like us.
One question though, the back vents of the laptop(when the hinge is fully opened) are angled towards the bottom part of the panel and exerts hot air towards it. Does that result in potential
Risk for the laptop display?
Good question, I forgot to record thermal footage of the surface again. If I had, I would have been able to give temperature readings for risk assessment. I suppose it's a concern in theory, but I can't really give you a definite answer outside of my own guesses. If you ask me, I'm not concerned because the LCD panel itself only extends into the bezel by a tiny amount. The exhaust air is warm, not really hot, so the mild heat shouldn't affect the LCD which is like an inch above the exhaust vents. Basically, the heat doesn't really reach the LCD because the bottom bezel is empty inside except for maybe the WiFi and Bluetooth antennae (if the body is metal, the waves can't penetrate out so it's gotta do it through the plastic screen bezel). If you want actual data, you can try searching for complaints of screen damage on the MSI prestige 15 and Zephyrus S, both of which exhaust up onto the screen. The Zephyrus S pulls more power so if that thing survives, in theory, so should this.
@@mcmossimo Thanks :)
