Hi Terry, there are a couple of retrieves that work for the whiting, either very steady (but not too fast), letting the action of the lure do its work, or a slower slightly twitchy retrieve with very brief pauses. Also the double clutch 60mm now comes in the brown suji prawn colour as well which works really well. Try to find a shallow drop off on the sand flats and try the incoming tide about 30 mins after the turn of the tide casting over the drop off and working the lure back across the drop off...either direction has worked for me.
Hi. I have had reasonable success with the sugapen 70 on whiting in the HF119 colour. Hi, do you fish for Trevally and also Herrings with lures if so what lures do you use. I find 15g Twisty or Daiwa double clutch 60mm with assist hooks work.
Do you change your lures a lot while fishing ? If so, do you use a snap swivel on one rod and just swap lures whenever to suit the condition of water ? Thanks!
Yes. Always try a few different lures to see what the fish want on the day. I bought a box of swivel snaps on ebay 5 different sizes to suit different situations/rods
Alluring Fishing thanks so much. Do you find that attaching a snap swivel to the lure reduces the natural free movement of the lure in the water ? Some people suggest using a rapala knot or loose knot ?
@@thebestisyettobe5506 no I don't think the swivel snap hinders the action of the lure at all. The loop knot or rapala knot allows the lure to move freely from side to side, which is exactly what a swivel snap does and the swivel prevents line twist. If you look at the pro bass fishermen in the USA, everyone uses snaps. In my opinion there's no need to tie a lure directly to the leader by way of a knot these days, you need to be able to respond to the conditions and available fish quickly or miss out and swivel snaps allow that speed and flexibility required. My sessions are max 2 hours and I usually land decent fish in a session.

If you got the sb304 I have no doubt you will catch some nice flatties on it. Try fish the last hour of the runout and the first hour of the run in tide on a good sand flat in the channel...
@@AlluringFishing I got the 70sp im new in luring I'm still learning how to use them etc.. What's best way using them. Can you cast them in structure??
I use the sugar deep mainly for flathead, in water of less than 1 metre deep, mainly sand flats, making sure that the lure makes contact with the bottom, kicking up puffs of sand...To cast into structure along river banks etc. will surely catch trevally, bass, perch in NSW or barra in QLD amongst others...
Also remember to add in a good amount of pauses in the retrieve. It's usually on the pause that you get the strike... The suspending sugar deep is really effective in the pause because it stays at the depth that you pause it. You can also get very technical and test your lures to see whether they suspend or rise on the pause. If the lure rises, you can add lead tape to make it pause perfectly...fishing with lures is very technical but so rewarding when you crack the code... good luck mate!
They're actually not technically tackle boxes:-) , I found them at Spotlight in the sewing section....ha ha ha. They're made by Semco and really cheap too. $5 for a small box (perfect for double clutch 60mm) and $7 for a medium (perfect for double clutch 75mm). No more rip off prices from BCF.
Hi Henry. Interesting question. I have tried the 120 sugapen in the HF-119 colour off the beach on windless days. I have yet to catch anything with it, mostly because it doesn't cast very far and it's just easier to catch fish using metals, because you can cast the lure exactly where the fish are. However, I do think that the 120 sugapen will work well in the Swansea channel for kingfish or tailor as I have had success there on 110 rapala shallow divers.
Thanks for your response. Great Video and very informative channel. I will stick with metals at beach. One of my local Tackle store owner uses sugapen 120 with success for kingfish. He changes the treble hooks to single hooks.
@@rosscheetham1168 hey, I'm sure they will work if the fish can see them, but the challenge is the casting distance and getting to the fish. So I've only ever been successful using the method suggested. I've tried hardbodies in the surf but no success with that yet. I guess it all depends on the surf conditions and the wind on the day. If you can cast into a good looking piece of surf (gutter/sandbank etc...), no reason they wouldn't work.
@@rosscheetham1168 I haven't yet done a video pertaining to whiting on gulp worms, also, whiting season for this year is all but over until November. A whiting rig is quite easy: 6lb flouro leader with a small running ball sinker for the lake or a small running pyramid sinker for the surf. Use a mustad #4 long shank worm hook. Feed the gulp plastic along the hook shank. Use at least a 7ft 2-4kg rod with very light action. Will do a video on this in due course. Thanks for the interest.
Alluring Fishing thanks so much for your great advice. Now I’m pumped but it’s midnight here.
@@JiasonSiow happy to help. Any time when you're not fishing can be spent preparing for fishing😊. Getting gear ready, getting organised so that fishing sessions are productive...
Where do u get all your tackle from ?
Hey Travis, apologies for the late reply. I buy from a wide range of stores both physical and online. My preferred stores are Hot Tackle in Toronto (lake macquarie west), Tackle World Marks Point, Tackle World Port Stephens, Iso Fishing Lifestyle (ebay/instagram) and Get Wet Outdoors (Ebay).
Awesome video I just bought bassday sugar deep 70mm can't wait to use it
If you got the sb304 I have no doubt you will catch some nice flatties on it.
@@AlluringFishing thanks buddy for your advise always learning
What brand are those tackle boxes? they look perfect size!
Hi again, do you use clips to attach to lures or direct with a loop knot?
Hi. I use snap clips with a swivel
@@AlluringFishing OK, I use the Mustad fastach clips. Do you find that the clips ever "bog down" the actions on say the Sugapens?
@@peteh7966 yes they can...but the fish dont seem to mind
Have anyone try using the Sugapen 120 mm ? and what is your expereinces? I am thinking it might work ok on a calm beach. Any thoughts ?
He changes the treble hooks to single hooks.
lekker video man, thanks for sharing
what kayak do you have for the lake?
Hey Josh. Thanks for watching...appreciate the lekker comment too. Can't lose that 'eccent' hey
I have an RTM Abaco 420
brilliant, thanks
Top vid mate
Thank you
Do you get your whiting off the beach with lures or is it to rough
Alluring Fishing cheers for that so hard bodies would not work in the surf ?
@@rosscheetham1168 hey, I'm sure they will work if the fish can see them, but the challenge is the casting distance and getting to the fish. So I've only ever been successful using the method suggested. I've tried hardbodies in the surf but no success with that yet. I guess it all depends on the surf conditions and the wind on the day. If you can cast into a good looking piece of surf (gutter/sandbank etc...), no reason they wouldn't work.
Alluring Fishing ok ty do you have a video on the traditional rig I don't know what it is
@@rosscheetham1168 I haven't yet done a video pertaining to whiting on gulp worms, also, whiting season for this year is all but over until November.
Whiting are tasty fish, the ones least likely to be returned to swim away after a photo...
Alluring Fishing ahh really I am very new to fishing what will be good to target now I wanna get into using lures as I hate bait
Awesome
glad you enjoyed it
Ok those are better colour for the DC.
I have had success on most of the DC patterns. Over time though some work better than others , but I guess it always corresponds to what is available as a natural food source and matching the hatch...
@@AlluringFishing thanks for the reply’s, yes in the end it’s all about matching the hatch and following the bait.
Size 14 owner treble
Also try bkk size 14. Better quality than owner
Hope to see some new videos soon, you are very quiet.
Hey Paul...sorry for being slack....I have just had a very tough year in my personal life, so haven't really been getting out there. Hope to do some fishing over the break. I'm working out a strategy to get mulloway....setting a high bar I know but thats just me
Alluring Fishing hope you are ok brother. I am saving for a 4x4 and I’ll get you over for a visit to Brissie and Stradbroke Island for fishing. Sterkte.
@@paulvictor9368 thats funny I didn't realise....thanks for your support....life changing event boet....I'm sure you get my drift (thats not a bait that I'm drifting either 😂)
I used to live up that way myself and to be honest I found the fishing down here in NSW way better, but maybe I just got better at it 😅
@@paulvictor9368 i will take you up on that offer....i have a 4x4 boet, so you're welcome ti come down south too....and we're allowed to drive on the local beaches too
Alluring Fishing 🤣🤣. That’s awesome. Will meet soon for a braai. 😉
