I agree with Adam about the ending of Old not being a twist. In order for a resolution to have a twist it needs to be something surprising because the rest of the movie has been leading you into believing something else. Here the movie doesn't give a crap about trying to come up with scenarios, so it's not a twist, it's just a standard reveal.
Especially with madmans like Friedkin around. "Nah, fuck it, we don't need permits for a car chase. We'll just pay off any innocent citizens we hit and pray to god we don't kill anyone."
Saw Dead Alive 12 years ago and that final act of the movie is still in my memory. Pretty stoked about the next recommendation. Saw it recently and thought it was a lot of fun.
It would be amazing to me if, after hitting rock bottom with Glass, M. Night slowly worked his way back up and his final movie is another unironic 10 from YMS.
I wanna believe its possible but his films are so stagnant now , it doesn't matter if it is a high concept fantasy or sci fi setting or something more low budget and realistic they all just feel like what you expect from an M night movie, bad dialogue and underdeveloped metaphors
27:05 Did Adam "Excuse me that I am incapable of turning my brain off while watching *insert popular well-received movie here that I'm gonna nitpick apart* " Johnson just admit he turned his brain off while watching the movie?
I don’t understand why they didn’t just end the movie by having the kids embrace the fact that they were stuck and only had a few more hours left to live so they spend it making sand castles and being kids. They didn’t need to explain away anything, the concept was absurd in and of itself. It felt like maybe the resolution was going to go in that direction for a second and I would’ve respected that because at least it would’ve played into the only fucking theme that the movie had going for it (life is short, have fun while it lasts, yadda yadda). But M Night gonna M Night.
I wouldnt say so because even in his worst films (alien covenant for example) he is hands down the best part of it. Hardy might be one of the weakest aspects of venom imo
Ralphs point of saying war movies don’t sway people to be pro or anti war is just silly. Ignoring just how crucial propaganda has been in increasing war efforts throughout history, we can just look at the pure numbers of recruitments that skyrocket any time a pro us military film comes out and see that what ralph said is just flat out wrong.
Absolutely, if war propaganda didn't work the Army wouldn't provide tanks, jets and etc for some war movies (and refuse to provide for movies like Apocalypse Now).
Top 10 movies to fall asleep too? I actually did this as a kid with one specific movie so I know that the best movie to sleep to is The Game Plan, where the Rock plays a football player who suddenly becomes a father
Can you guys talk about the Raid movies? It's such an awesome Martial Art movie, though I would like to know what you guys think about the story, cinematography, and basically anything else that aren't the fight scenes.
Old is based on a graphic novel, not a short story. I think it's actually a very interesting and unique way to tell a story and really enjoyed it when I read it. Old is not the same experience but is very very funny.
When it comes to M Night...does anyone tell him "your dialogue and acting in your movies suck"? I remember when he blamed the failure of Airbender and After earth on the lack of reshoots. Bro. Accept the fact nobody likes the way you write dialogue or the way you direct actors.
I saw dead alive and bad taste back in the early 2000s in high school as a young horror fan and was like so stoked on how well done they are for micro budget movies Basically the kiwi evil dead, but funny like evil dead 2 The fact Peter Jackson was releasing Lotr at the same time was such a trip The lawnmower sequence and brain stuffing are still some of it the best shlock ever
I think Tom hardy has always been in a mix of good and not so good roles. He just seems like he wants to work and doesn’t have an ego about being selective. Venom is really bad and embarrassing but I don’t think he cares and obviously it makes money. He’s talented and will always have work available to him it seems.
1:35:11 I always tell people who say this they obviously haven't heard of Come and See. Usually they bring up Saving Private Ryan which isn't even remotely anti-war, Spielberg even won an award from Department of "Defense" for it lmfao. They certainly weren't going to give Terrence Malick one...
That Game of Thrones director was lieing. That episode wasn't too dark because it was for Imax. He made that up after it aired because of how much flak they got it. That show was a trainwreck pretty much from season 5. Just halfass people in charge marring the hard work of a talented cast (some of them) and crew.
It was a horribly exposing nose-dive into absolute fanfic quality writing and weirdly "ah, f*ck it" production. If D&D had the sense to p*ss off after 4 then we might have had even a half-decent ending AND those two would still have their careers. D*ckheads.
Yeah it seemed like an intentional creative choice to have no environmental light source and rely only on the torches and flames. The cinematographer probably was not comfortable/experienced/equipped with that particular creative decision and the showrunners either couldn’t or didn’t bother trying color correcting in post to make the episode not look disgusting

Here in Spain, Braindead was called "tu madre se ha comido a mi perro." Which literally means, "your mom ate my dog." I remember watching it for the sole reason that I thought it was the stupidest name ever.
Peter Jackson says he's going to be remastering all 3 of his gross out movies when he gets the chance. He said he wants it to be a proper project because it's so special to him. He's discussed getting the crew who did the restoration for "they shall not grow old" to be the ones to remaster them
Meet the Feebles is much better than Bad Taste but no where near Braindead. it meanders a bit but the way all of the individual arcs wrap up makes it sooo worth it. I love it, even on DVD

The FNaF movie is still happening?! When’s the last time that game has even casually been name dropped in conversation?! The world has collectively stopped giving a shit about it even before we found out the creator was shit!
FNAF is still massively popular with the Game Theory fanbase. That community hold FNAF up as if it's some masterclass in storytelling. They seem to think that just because it's complicated that automatically means it's smart, which of course it isn't.
@@HOTD108_ The whole game is just long stretches of nothing happening, animals occasionally screaming at you, and you have to read wiki articles to understand any of the backstory.
