Seen so many awesome reviews and then there is always someone who disagrees and hated it..... have this with everything in life it seems. Get out there and try it as it looks like it is enjoyable and a gripping tale for many.
I've got QGO, and it's an interesting toy, but with the nativity high fidelity titles, using it to ramp up various settings, in particular with really busy scenes have mixed results imho. Thought patch 71 had increased the dynamic range to which the gpu could utilise as well recently. I would imagine it either looks slightly prettier on Q3, or runs smoother, seems to be the trend recently, but I've not heard anything officially
@@stuartburns8657 They showed a video on reddit of it running in a heavy combat scene at 167% resolution and better framerate. Its the top post on r/oculusquest. Pushing it to higher framerates made it worse though, but at the 167% option at the same fps probably looks near PCVR
How does it fare on Q2? Given it's Vertigo Games and judging by AS Remake and AS 2, the gap between Q2/Q3 was not much bar resolution, improved fps and subtle lighting/texture improvements but only stuff you'd notice side by side. Similar situation here?
Bro... my vr horror phobia is so bad... I'm bummed because I absolutely love the flat games. I'm a little bummed too that it isn't really Q3 optimized.
@ The thing is - it operates more on tension and creepiness than it does on what I consider horror per se. I mean, unless you really have arachnophobia, which would probably be a deal breaker in a few locations. But other than that, the anxiety comes from having to roam around in some dark areas while worrying about having to fight off scurrying mutants, etc :) One of the spider scenes does occur somewhat early, so yeah - I think you can probably gauge in two hours whether you can handle it or if you should refund :)
Also! Just saw the developers tell somebody that they’re going to release an Arachnophobia Mode soon in an update that’ll allow you to play without the spiders - if that’s any help?
Will be interesting to hear from Doc and Pete in podcast on this one on their experience with it. The lack of stealth, from what Ive read, given the nature of the game environment seems odd. From gameplay videos Ive seen, some of the action seems to drag on too. I'll bet Pete is also "whelmed" by this one 😂
Thanks for the review. Torn between this and Batman. Gut feeling is I'll enjoy this more, but it's another top dollar game with relatively little (if any) replay value. And (contentious I know) also quite short, even more so than Batman from what I understand. Should be supporting efforts like these ultimately, but could you imagine an xbox or PS5 game being released with only 6-12 hours to complete? I'm banging the same drum I know, but I still don't think Assasins Creed has been beaten in terms of game length, good visuals, varied locations and over all good game play
I played AC Nexus and it easily became my favorite VR game but Batman blows it out of the water. Also, the replay value for Batman is really good because of the challenges and free dlc confirmed to be coming.
I would put ACN, Batman and Metro all at around the same score (8.5-9) keeping in mind that I haven’t had time to finish the last two of those… Fun fact: I didn’t enjoy ACN at all at first and refunded it. Ended up buying it on sale and playing it during the great drought of 24. Ended up thoroughly enjoying it
@peteaustin5472 I want to get Metro tonight, but it goes against my principal of waiting for an initial patch. Doesn't sound as buggy as batman, so I might risk it. Funny you say about AC, I took to it like duck to water. I'd never played any of the flat screens, so didn't have any prior expectations. That is the same with Batman too. Just seen the review on the Meta store. Who's Karmamole?
Borderlands 2 should be built for quest from the ground up. I have every borderlands game including the psvr1 version which is decent... just annoying control options. I also have it on the switch lite.. But it would rock if it was built for quest 💯
It's an "okay" game. First of all, it's way too short for the price not to mention for a Metro franchse game. I played the PCVR version and textures are pretty blurry, prefabricated animations on hands/grabbing items/gun reloads simply don't belong anymore in a 2024 VR game. The environment is very static. Not many things to move/touch. Many locations are repetetive copy/paste and the second half of the game also is pretty boring. I sorta saw this coming with Vertigo making that game
I dislike this game. It was boring due to its repetitive gameplay and lack of replayability, which makes it feel overpriced. There are only four enemy types and no weapon customization. I finished the game in about 9 hours. The graphics were better on PC but still just okay; on the Quest 3, they look like garbage. It doesn’t stack up against something like Half-Life: Alyx. It might impress if it’s your first VR game, but it’s underwhelming for regular VR players-just my opinion. Enjoy your review
You vr die hards are jumping into this acting like it’s the next big VR shooter. This is a metro game, if you’re not a fan of metro don’t bother. It’s not a shooter it’s always been about the story and immersion not about guns and enemy types. This is an atmospheric story telling game with combat, not a combat game with some story and fire fights every 5 minutes like you low attention span monkeys are used to. If you are however a fan of metro and did not like the game still I fear you may lack the soul of the franchise if you were bummed out by guns and enemy types
@@chrispaige8517 Having never played any of the Metro flat screen titles, I went into it vaguely knowing it was a kind of post apocalyptic type after. 1st half I enjoyed, 9/10. Time I'd slogged through the other half and finished it, I'd score it 6/10 over all. Glad I got £5 via a referal, otherwise I'd have only given it 5/10 lol. Reasons? - Introduction feels like a bait and switch with a decent amount of interactive elements. These pretty much disappear once in the world. The enemy variety too limited. Baby rat mole and daddy rat mole + spiders only non human encounters. The baby rat male's attack animation is kinda broken. They got from crouching to strike to teleporting into your face, despite you unloading your weapon. Weapon variety ok, although I was able to mostly complete using the AK, I'd say that was 90% of kills, excluding scripted rail car moments. Linear lvl design and too much reuage of the same lvl assets. Yes the story explains this and somewhat justified it, but from a gameplay and enjoyable experience, nah. Story and voice acting decent, but it leans too much on the psychological / supernatural for my tastes. Hmm. Just a missed opportunity in many regards sadly.
@jessicamartin2113 Mentioned about 6 in the vid. Let's call it 8 then. So if we get 10 'AAA' VR games a year, single player with an avg completion time of 10 hours, each with little replay, that feels a little bleak to me personally. I'm properly overly fixating on play time, but imagine those 10 games each cost £40. So £400 has provided 100 hours of gameplay. I'm struggling with that.
Great review. I am starting tonight.
Thanks! Enjoy :) And let me know if you agree with the review after playing it :)
A very well-written review, thanks!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it :)
Awesome review, man thx! So tempted to buy it just not a huge fan into paranormal horror so trying to do research without spoilers

How much space does this game take up on a Quest vr? I'm planning on which vr to get with enough space
About 18gig
@stuartburns8657 Thanks a lot, meta really need to let people know about that on the store, it's very annoying having to look online.

Are there Quest 3 enchancements? I saw on reddit that QGO can push the game on Quest 3 to really high resolution with relative ease.
