I started fasting back last January. Started with 16/8 and worked my way up to 18/6 and 20/4. I added in a 42 hour fast once a week and a 72 hour fast once a month. I've never felt better in my entire life! I have so much more energy. Fat has been replaced with muscle and I'm able to workout harder. I've also noticed I'm an all around happier person too. It's so crazy that all these amazing benefits come from not stuffing my face all day, everyday. Fasting has changed my life in the most positive way possible!!

@Luna Lotus, That's so great. Would you please examples of what you eat after 42 hour fast and 72 hour fast from the moment you break fast to the moment you resume it in these two instances and thank you

@@ladybakiza8278 I ALWAYS refeed with 1 hard boiled egg and half an avocado mixed with a bit of onion, tomato, lime and spices. Then I'll wait an hour or so and eat whatever. I will add that I do count calories and workout 5 days a week. Hope that helps 😁

I had allergy and it stopped with 72 hours of fasting. I did this fasting to see wich aliment gives me the allergic response, and I didn' t expect my allergy to gone that quickly, without any medicine. This is really amazing!

The best video I`ve seen so far.
I`ve been fasting for a month, 16:8, now switched to 18:6, did 24 and 45 hour fast. I have been struggling with Hashimoto and asthma all my life and living in the hot climate doesn`t help, but I`m not giving up! Keep your fingers crossed for me my fellow fasters!

Congrats, I’m on the 48 to 72 want to see how I feel tomorrow, how I sleep tonight. so far everything is great. I did a lemon lime in water for electrolytes at the 27th hour. I would love to lose 58 lbs that would take me to my weight when I was 21. Have you been fasting the whole 7 months?

Michelle S , thanks 🙏, I started on January 2 (my ongoing New Years resolution) eating low carb using Adkins. Then in February I went Keto. I slowly added in fasting by not eating at least 3 hours before bedtime. Then I started pushing my breakfast back until I was only eating at noon and 6 PM. After a while of that I just ate dinner. The first time I went one whole day without eating I really felt like I’d accomplished something. I felt so good 😊. I’ve only done a few 36 hr fasts and the 41 was my longest yet. Next stop, 48 hrs. For me slow and steady wins the race. Oh, and I’m 49, mother of two boys ages 11 and 15.

Everyone is so whippee it’s so great. It’s a great tool. I do feel better intermittent fasting. I am 73 have worked out 5 days a week all my life. Lap swimmer gym and jump rope I do the 15 hours and have pushed to 24 for a day, 36 once and 40. But it has to be planned carefully around what my day will look like. I live in Manhattan. We are not running around in cars. I was pushing for 24 hrs today but no way I could get past 18 hours running all over the city on foot. I wasn’t hungry but weak, very. So I ate when I got home at 18hrs. You have to listen to what your body says not get addicted to the process. Could trigger people with eating disorders to not listen to their bodies.
    It’s not a contest. It’s a tool.

I lost 18 lbs last week fasting. I broke and ate two tbsp of peanut butter on day 4 , then salmon and mushrooms on day 6, then started intermittent fasting, eating once per day on day 7 (my birthday). I now eat once per day between 2pm and 3pm and only eat foods that don't spike my insulin as I have insulin resistance and a low metabolism. Thank you for the most wonderful chart/video I can use to explain this to friends and family.

Generally speaking, plain green/black tea (watch for sweeteners, and don't buy Lipton garbage), plain black coffee (with non-sweetened beans like vanilla/caramel roasts!), apple cider vinegar, sodium/potassium/magnesium salts (you need electrolytes on extended fasts), and plain water are fine. Dr. Ken Berry also has a video on here about making a fasting-friendly electrolyte drink out of the above and some food-grade essential oils (you can't absorb them and break a fast, at least if your gut is relatively healthy), nothing special/unique/proprietary to him in it.

Dr. Mindy, this is fascinating .. as a science. I first applied intermittent fasting 4 months ago. Hit the wall but then figured out fast that the body requires a vitamin & mineral supplemental solution, daily. The hunger hormone responded right away, and as you indicate by your chart, body is right on schedule! At hour 17, yes ... every marker (or signal) was present. * I'm training my body gradually ... from intermittent fasting to 24 hour fasting ... to 36 hours. I notice with repeat fasts that my tendons are healing. * This is so amazing, this science! Thank You for your dedicated effort!!!

I have been a low-carb dieter and did intermittent fasting before. It did help me but I kind of ran into the thing where it stopped working. But, you taught me a couple of things from the Mel Robbins podcasts. One is that heavy cream was ok in my coffee, but not stevia. Also, I do not chew any Mentos gum during the IF window like I had previously. These two things help a lot, I believe. Drinking at least 60-80 oz. of water or more and doing this has been so beneficial for my skin and my brain function. Recently, I tried eating more good-for-you carbs and the brain fog was crazy for me. I actually thought something was wrong with me. I am back to doing at least 13-18 IF everyday. I would like to do a couple of the longer ones. I think one of the best things about this for me, is that when I get that late-night urge to snack about 8-9 pm. I know if I do that, I am ruining my autophagy benefits, and it makes me say no!!!! Thank you!

Thanks for this amazing video. I am 62 years old woman. I was 224 pounds on Feb 2019. Then I learned about IF, took me to shift my snacking and sugar addiction to go away, about 2 months. Then I started fasting 16/8, in April 2019, reduced my weight from 224 to 175 pounds. Then I felt I don’t need to eat two meals, so in March 2020 I started OMAD. Reduced to 154 pounds till Sept 2020. Then I kind of plateaued for 6 months at 154 pounds. So To tweak I did ADF for 2 months from March and April 2021. Reduced to 141 pounds. My target is 132 pounds. I am 5’3” and broad bones. I did a 36 hour fast one day back, and I weighed 139 pounds. It’s kind of getting harder for me to fast for more than 24 hours now. I have to pee more after 24 hours fast and sleep gets disturbed. Need help in reducing last 7 pounds.
And most importantly, my health has transformed from miserable to fantastic with all above. Severe knee pain is 95% reduced BP medication halved. There is a feeling of bliss and happiness from inside.

Variation is key. Change up your eating window, your fasting length, etc. It's not a quick fix to weight loss. Fasting has many benefits. It may be time to look beyond just fasting and at others aspects that impact your releasing weight like stress, toxins, food, etc. Are you getting over to making ketones, in the fat burner state or are you staying in sugar burner?

I'm healing my prostatitis changing my diet habits to a one of low carbs plus practicing intermittent fasting. I'm doing OMAD with 21 hrs. fasting period. Every other week I do a 48 hrs. fasting. Alopatic medicine practitioners see you as you are a liver, a kidney or a lung, never as a complex physical, spiritual and intellectual been. In more than 30 years living in Canada, 24 in Ontario and 7 en Quebec, none of my family physicians or specialists ever asked me what kind of food I have been consumed. It isn't cassual, is part of the philosophical orientation which get the western school of medicine. We, the population, pay the consecuences meanwhile the pharmaceutical corporations collect the astronomical profit. C'est comme ça.

When I was younger I was naturally slim - but I was also very athletic and active - but I also did not eat much or often to the point some would question if I had an eating disorder. Now I know why, to my behaviour and to those questions. Thank you so much. I just started a 72 hours water fast I’m in day 1
    Current weight was 85.5kg
I’ll be back someone please like this comment or reply so I can get back to it
    Update: 30 July 2024
I stopped my water fast at 64 hours , lost 3kg but it was mostly water fast cause I gained it back after eating
But I did experiment with dry fast during the past weeks and the results were amazing 🥲 and I found out I only crave water instead of food during dry fast I don’t get hungry much plus I was able to lose weight and maintain currently weighing 82kg and that’s a big break for me , been stuck at 86kg for months even with calorie deficit and exercise, dry fasting helped me
PS: I’m 17 hours in another dry fast
