Thanks for the video. The cooling fan died on mine and I used your video to remove the bottom and quickly remove the old one and install the new one. All is good.
Hello, I am sure you can replace a hdd with any 2.5". If you have your original windоws7 cd you can re-install it and use your kеy numbеrs on a bаck cоver of a laptop on windоws stickеr.
Yep, this part made out of some type of cheap plastic, so it can really be stressful to remove. Just watch this video, remove everything I removed prior to removal of this part.
On this particular board you can not change the apu. (or cpu gpu combined if you never hears apu.) however if you have one with a a-series processor you can go from an a4 4300 to an a10 4600. my c855d came with an a6-4400 apu. I installed an a10-4600. runs fine. dosent get hotter than the old apu.
Any chance of making another video of putting it back together? This was a great tutorial on a tear down but hard to follow steps in the reverse order. Great video.
Thank you for your reply.I took your existing take apart video, and found a program to simply REVERSE it. making viewing in the reverse order much easier. The only thing I wish I had done was drawn a diagram of what screws went where. I can't find a diagram for this anyplace.
Any chance of a video in REVERSE order? Putting it back together, kind of hard to follow steps in reverse order on this model. I learned tons from this one Thank you.
Great video, Now i see the procedure that i have to make to change or clean the fan, but I just want to ask, if there is another fan that can work better than the original???
nice video but just wearing the esd wrist strap with no grounding cable is a bit pointless. I tend to use the anti static gloves they are quite thin and no ground cable to get in the way while stripping a system down
Chocolate is good, but not for a laptop :) There is no easy way to get to a mouse button. When you will remove a bottom of this laptop, you will be able to access a mouse buttons and maybe see what should be cleaned. (your English was fine for me to understand what you want to do)
First of all massive thank for such video and responding to the comments. Just wondering that if i needed to replace only the keyboard without the black frame around it, is it possible that i can do it by a knife without dissembling the whole laptop. I saw other video doing that but i am not quite sure if that is true, just want to double check with you. Thanks in advance
Hello, on C855 you have only a keyboard without any other part, no screws holding it. (of course power supply and battery should be removed, but this is understandable)
Hey there. I see you're a big expert on Toshiba laptops. I would have a question, I'm interested in your opinion. So I've the Satellite C855-21V model, and shit happened. With headphones plugged in, the laptop fell on the floor. Nothing special happened, it just broke the headphone jack. So I went to the service (not an authorized one), they "repaired" it, but only half of the headphone is working. So my question is: what do you think, if i take my laptop to the local authorized Toshiba service, could they repair that little shit only, or the whole motherboard is need to be changed? I've tried a lot of solutions, none of them worked. I've tried to stream the PC's sound to my Windows Phone, nothing. I've tried to "retask" the jacks, I mean to put the headphones line to the mic-in jack. Nothing. It may work on Vista or older OS, but on W8, nothing at all. So, what do you think? Thank you for your time. :)
+Rolland Madaras If you've verified the headphones work properly in other devices and the drivers for the sound card are compatible, you can either get somebody to solder the port properly so that both work or you can check on laptop king's website for your laptop motherboard's part number and replace the whole motherboard (going for $50 USD on ebay right now). You can also invest in a USB speaker with headphone jacks or a bluetooth solution. Pick the method that's right for you. Good luck.
I'm struggling to open the main back piece. It's very tight and I'm afraid of breaking it. But there's so much dust in the laptop that it need to be opened...
+Stephanie Daugherty Do it from the top/front with the back cover removed first so it is free. If you can't reach it properly, use a flat head and align it carefully. Make sure the flap is up when you're doing it and that it's locked/closed when you're done. If none of that works, disconnect the motherboard from the palmrest and connect it from the underside of the motherboard that way, but be extra careful so as to not snap anything. Use a wrist strap to protect against ESD.
Hello,, I would say it is easier to remove a lower part, unscrew a back cover and replace what you need, because I always hate putting back together this stupid wifi cables. specially if hinges will be in place, it will be like a gymnastics.
Man i cannot disassembly my c845 (14 inch) i cannot take apart the lower cap because i think there are some screws holding it by the other side, and the keyboard seems to not get out in the way you did. Do you have any experience with that model? Thanks!!!
I'm struggling to open the main back piece... It's very tight and I'm afraid of breaking it, but the laptop is full of dust and it needs to be opened...
Hello I wanted to ask if on this model of laptop can you change the graphics card? I was wondering because I heard that the graphics card is attached to the mother board and can't be taken off without getting a new motherboard.
I took out the ram and a extra white clip broke off on the below slot, the clips are still there. The CPU fan gets hot and does not cool properly. That happened before, the Laptop is not mine. The ram is still seated securely. Can you glue it back on
energybot sorry for late response, I believe you can glue it back, but if memory is sit properly without fixing - it is probably better to live it like that.
might be a stupid question, but is the CPU soldered in? I was thinking about replacing mine with a faster one. and do you know what models of CPU would fit in the BGA413 socket? I often get a "High CPU usage" alert in task manager, it's really bothering me.
some C855 have a soldered CPU, some other don't. Check a motherboard number somewhere at memory slot (maybe you will need to remove a memory) (make sure to unplug and remove battery prior removing memory) Look for V000xxxxx or V000xxxxxx number...
+Juan Diaz Use laptop king's website for identifying the parts, ebay for purchasing it and this video on fixing it. Remember to use a wrist strap to protect against ESD. -CompTIA A+ Certified Technician
Duuuude i took mine apart and put it all back together and now some of my keys don't work. Not saying this is your fault its totally my problem and fuck up but I have no idea what I could have possibly done. I didn't jiggle anything around or whatever. I am just wondering if you have any ideas as to what I may have done and what I could do to fix it?
Hello, if you are planning to remove a motherboard - you better remove a keyboard first (still you will need to remove a few or one screw to do that), but if you just need to remove a case bottom, you will need to remove all screws like I did and it should work. Look closely for some other screws - for sure remove a hard drive, because there can be screws under it. Use some old Credit Card to un snap this bottom.
The mouse buttons should be replaceable. I don't think spilling water on exactly touchpad could break anything. Unless connector to the touchpad will get some corrosion ...

Thank you sooo much with the name I was able to find it and just order it thru Ebay. Again thank you for help and the video will help me install it was well.
How to butcher a laptop!. Who in their right mind uses a pen knife to damage the plastic? Use a plastic item like a plectrum and don't rip the flexible cable sockets. Do it properly or not at all.
regazzz im afraid no, its the password that you set in the security bios. i put the BIOS password and then the HDD/SD Password , i already solve the BIOS password shorting the B500 chip in teh mother board but now i have the problem with the HDD/SD Password.
Thanks for the video. The cooling fan died on mine and I used your video to remove the bottom and quickly remove the old one and install the new one. All is good.
scottgm321 GREAT NEWS!!!! Thanks!
Hey regazzz. Thanks to your video, ebay and Laptop King, I saved $100 fixing my mother's laptop. Thanks again for your help. x)
+John Scott Don't know what is Laptop King, anyway, you are always welcome!
Laptop king is a website that helps identify part numbers for laptop parts. XD

Hello, I don't have put back together video, I would be able to make one as soon I will get another c855 in hand.

I am in need of a motherboard because my graphics when out but I still love this laptop and never wanna get rid of it :(
Ebay should be a right place to find it.
You may try a worm water (I mean removing it and warm water) than wait a few days to dry out, but sometimes even this doesn't help.
Any chance of a video in REVERSE order? Putting it back together, kind of hard to follow steps in reverse order on this model. I learned tons from this one Thank you.
Hello, sorry, I don't have a reverse version. I hope you will be able to put everything back together.
Thanks. Very helpful.
Hey John Brazier thank you so much!
Welcome. All I needed was the removal of the keyboard, but I watched the entire video for reference. Good stuff.
Great video, Now i see the procedure that i have to make to change or clean the fan, but I just want to ask, if there is another fan that can work better than the original???
Eduard R I wish I know it, but I don't thin there is any.
swiss knife is usually very sharp. My one is already not sharp at all and I got use to it.
ive got a toshiba c855-1gx and you need to remove the keyboard first to remove the boittom,.theres 6 screws under the keyboard holding it together.
Thank you so much for this update!
Hi. What screwdriver would you recommend for removing the screws on the fan?
nice video but just wearing the esd wrist strap with no grounding cable is a bit pointless. I tend to use the anti static gloves they are quite thin and no ground cable to get in the way while stripping a system down
It is your choice! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for video! Would the power button be replaceable? Would it require a complete dismantle to access the power button? Thanks!
You will need to remove a bottom cover and after that you will be able to access a power button.
Chocolate is good, but not for a laptop :)

Hi Great video Thanks. Do you know if the back cover on an L840 is the same?
You are welcome!!!
hi! I hv got a C840, i m just wondering i can change the cpu myself on not. Thanks!
Hi Paul, I am not sure about L840! Sorry!

Any tricks for getting the trackpad cable back in? I couldn't get it for the life of me.
Not really. Pretty much the same way that you removed it, but backwards. :)
+Stephanie Daugherty Do it from the top/front with the back cover removed first so it is free. If you can't reach it properly, use a flat head and align it carefully. Do you know if the graphics card is upgrade-able or is it soldered in?
Is it necessary to completely disassemble the laptop in order to replace the bezel and back cover?
Hello,, I would say it is easier to remove a lower part, unscrew a back cover and replace what you need, because I always hate putting back together this stupid wifi cables. specially if hinges will be in place, it will be like a gymnastics.

C845 you may need to check if you need to go other way. There can be screws behind a keyboard.
how do you repair the audio jack, is there a replacement part?
I'm struggling to open the main back piece... It's very tight and I'm afraid of breaking it, but the laptop is full of dust and it needs to be opened...
No, there is no possibility to change GPU, there is I think no GPU at all. It can be integrated in CPU.
Hello I wanted to ask if on this model of laptop can you change the graphics card? I was wondering because I heard that the graphics card is attached to the mother board and can't be taken off without getting a new motherboard.
Ariel Cruz there is no way you can change GPU because it is more likely integrated to CPU.
I took out the ram and a extra white clip broke off on the below slot, the clips are still there. The CPU fan gets hot and does not cool properly. That happened before, the Laptop is not mine. The ram is still seated securely. Can you glue it back on

I think it is integrated in CPU.
Does this support 16GB of memory or only up to 8GB of memory?
If i were to get this could i buy a new graphics crd and put it in this laptop?
My laptop fell and something is blocking the charger port, do I have to disassemble the whole thing to move the blockage?

I found the number you were talking about, it says "V000275390" I'm not sure what to do with that info.
Sorry man, cpu on this motherboard is integrated to a motherboard, soldered, not removable.
oh well, thanks for helping me before I screwed it up by myself though!
You are welcome!
Regazzz if i were to buy a better graphics card could i put it in this?
Can you provide the link were you got the part?

Hello, I know it is maybe too late, I would say you need to try a different keyboard first.
You will need to remove a lower cover, yes pretty much the same way.
i remove all the screws on the bottom of my laptop and the bottom wont come off, do i have to remove the keyboard first?

thanks! i snapped the keyboard off by the tabs and there were 6 screws, i unscrewed them and the bottom came off. thanks for your help!
what time is the power supply on?
So you can't change the graphics card?
Hello,no, gpu is provided via CPU I believe!
Darn, looks like the green board for the touchpad is glued on. I spilled water on it 😕
