Blood of Zeus is just a divorce story that included the steps kids
That’s fair
Yeah pretty much
.... Is it OUR fault? lol jk
Whats wrong with that?
I was mostly disappointed that Apollo and Artemis weren’t archers and only threw power balls. I mean come on
MeiLan Dowling ikr. Artemis is the Goddess of the Hunter and Apollo is the God of Archery
They weren't just known for their archery skills in mythology. Plus, they used other weapons as well.
@@Salty-kz8mg No, they aren't. She has a bow but she is goddess of the moon and hunt and was known as a feminist. Apollo was a little younger and he was also known as Helios, God of the sun. Like I said, they had those weapons but that is not what they were known for using. Artemis is more known for her bow work and she wasn't even in the final battle of the show.
@@abcdefghi2749 This is also false.
Helios is a titan that is often conflated with Apollo because they filled the same role. They road a chariot that hauled the sun, but they are different gods. Apollo has a lot of tools, but high among them is his bow by which he spreads plagues, among other things.
Artemis isn't a feminist. She's just chaste.
@@abcdefghi2749 Helios was the pre Olympian god of the sun, a Titan.
I really liked it but I wish that they’d had more interaction with the other gods, I wanted to hear Artemis and Aphrodite yell at Zeus
I really wanted to see Athena
Agree with you both! Athena literally came out of Zeus head. How could she not play a part in this war. Could’ve had an episode as the Voice of reason with the gods fighting among each other. I couldnt care for the side characters
thelazy omegawolf Ikr and they didn’t even say who some of the gods were. A couple of them were obvious, but besides that I had no ides who some of the Gods and goddesses erre
@@Salty-kz8mg it took me forever to figure out who most of the ppl were and I still don’t know everyone
You have a limited time and a limited amount of frames
They say 30 pages where cut from the final season
I dont like how hades seems to be the new villan, thats such an overused idea. He never even was evil :/
The first season was very meh... in terms of character development. If Hades is confirmed the new villain I won't be watching the second. I wish the series explored greek mythology going past the common tropes, like the king of the underworld being evil by default
Hades is the Hero of greek mythology.
He isn't though???? The creators very clearly said he isn't a villain :/ They just wanted to show him off at the end.
I'm frustrated with people who think being scary means he's evil =)) Hades being scary is fine. He's the god of the underworld. He's meant to be scary. He's definitely not evil tho
How’s it overused ? The misconception of Hades being a villain is outdated because he isn’t, but in most media I seen, even if he is the antagonist he’s not a villain/not evil.
Ik they said it was “a tale that was never told” but honestly I really dislike how much they pull away from actual mythology. Why is Cerberus anywhere BUT the underworld? He literally never leaves. Why is he villainous? He’s Hades’ pet.
Well hade’s was pulling the strings as the end scene shows, it could be a clue to pick up on instead of making it a critique
Even so, Hade's being the bad guy is a tired trope that people would do well to avoid or play against, though not in making the main gods the villains as that'd just be anti-tradition inversion junk, instead the enemies should be the actual enemies; Titans. You can also include Norse gods to the north and Egyptian gods to the south, oriental spirits and multi limbed gods to the east, and primal gods in the west across the ocean (probably not relevant or within scope of the show/IP though).
Maybe it's one of Cerberus's pups?
I think they were just the same kind of creature since we see at least two in the show but not actually Cerberus since I think Hades would be furious if one of Cerberus’s heads was killed
I don’t think hades was a villain & that was a pet based on Cerberus. Cerberus would be much bigger
It’s a flawed show, but I enjoyed it a lot. I’m glad we’ve been getting a couple of good action shows like this. Young Justice (and basically almost anything by DC), Castlevania, Seis Manos, and now this. I hope we get a lot more in the future. Blood of Zeus has potential.
Perfect way to put it
I absolutely loved the designs of the gods, especially Artemis and Dionysus. Artemis had the phases of the moon as her belt (or whatever the garment was) and her skin tone made her look like a badass waterbender from ATLA. Dionysus had the trademark anime "blushing" effect that typically indicates a character is drunk, not to mention that he even utilizes his wine as a weapon in battle. That was a nice touch.
3:48 when he starts talking about the show
God bless you
LMAO

This show was stunning and I have to agree with you about some of the main characters being bland. It's obviously a setup season but my biggest issue is how they demonized Hera. I understand that the woman did some terrible things to the offspring of Zeus but they could have developed her past vengeful evil woman.
Zakiya Barnes well it somewhat matches up with the Hera in the Percy Jackson series. She didn’t like any of the Big 3’s children. She wiped Percy’s memories and sent him to the other side of the US to unite both camps
She will probably be past that in season 2
She did have a very big vengeful streak on zeus affairs and their children
But nothing was really set up. The most is that hades may do something and hera escaped, but they didnt do much to set up anything all season. They could have id the kept seraphim the demons, and Hera didn't wake up the giants, but that was all thrown away
But Hera was a demonic character (even in the "real" Greek mythology, she was evil as well. She tortured/kill/hurt Zues's baby mamas and children. She made their life miserable). This show may not be 100% accurate to the "real" version of the mythology (it is meant to be this way, Blood of Zeus's version are a made up version of Greek mythology by the creators of the show). I think Blood of Zeus potrayed Hera perfectly (I think they potrayed Hera accurately, she was supposed to be that way in the show, just like her real self in the "real" version). Which one is worser? Infidelity or killing a mother and her son? To me, the latter is the obvious answer. Hera is so evil, that she's willing to destroy Olympus and kill her own family (her brothers and sisters, the only family she have), started a war (which by the way, war between the Gods does effect human's well being. For example, it could've caused natural disasters such as flooding, or earthquake. Many innocent lives were lost) over a mortal woman. Tbh, Netflix's version of Hera is kind of accurate 😅 (she is supposed to be a vengeful God, it's just how she was in Greek mythology). 🌹❤
@Wasabi Lover yea i found that weird. him being a good guy kinda felt forced. there were times when he and Hera were having and argument and i’d mostly agree with Hera even though Zeus was portrayed as being in the right. like you said he literally RAPED the portags mom but it was supposed to be seen as love? like he trick her into thinking that he was her husband, it just felt gross
This series is gorgeous, and it does a great job of realistically portraying the conflicting personalities of Greek gods. Would love to see more of how they interact with humans instead of the gods interacting amongst themselves
Season 2
Gorgeous was I the only that seen how choppy the animation was?
@@stephoneley6771 YES, I thought I was the only one
@@stephoneley6771 animation was garbage... just compare it to castlevanya. And it wasnt a style thing, because there was a lot of lazy animated movement.
"A tale never told", yeah sure. It is basically Herkules but with some additions. Zeus surprising Heroens mother in the form of her own husband? Check. Twins but with different fathers? Check. Hera wanting to make Zeus sons life as miserable as possible? Check. It still is an enjoyable story tho.
Blood of Zeus has the most realistic iteration of Zeus I’ve seen. The series doesn’t hold back from showing how flawed he is
Congratulations you manage in 2 phrase yo convince to watch it.
I completely disagree. They portray him as the struggling hero who wants to help the main character but his pesky wife isn’t letting him.
He is waaaaaay to nice in this compared to his mythological self, this is not very accurate to Zeus at all lol
@@doctorsqueaks1683 right i was abouta say, they demonize his wife which isn't wrong ofc and make him look like a desperate savior
He's not.
@@axz647 goddamned i got excited and then i lost it. i'll watch it so i have sth to talk with my friends
I think it's pretty good and has potential, if it's renewed for a second season.
It’s been in the top 10 chart for 2 weeks thus far so hopefully
Don’t get me wrong, I really REALLY liked this series. But I don’t think I want/need a second season. I feel like all the plot treads are finished and I wouldn’t want them to do a second season just because they feel like they have too. I would rather see them make some sort of anthology series with a different story and mythology each season.
@@shroomer8294 2nd season has been confirmed i think, but i agree. The plot seemed finished, the only thing that could work is hera escaping and hiding, becoming a villain again or paying for her crimes and heron gaining importance among the gods for what he has done and for his power similar to Zeus.
@@shroomer8294 The creators may not stick with Heron for season 2. On twitter they said they wanted to focus on Athena and call it Blood of Medusa.
@@mevox that actually sounds sick! Do you know if they are working on that or the next season of castlevenia first?
The thing that just absolutely bugged me the most is that Heron never got any special powers or abilities, other than the fact he was the “chosen one” everything he did was boring and out of hatred
What bugged me is that he never used his sword from Zeus!! That got me heated
Heron lost his mother, found out that some old dude who pretended to be the drunkman of the polis was his father all along. How can he not do things out of hatred? I think his character could have been développed a bit more, but that complaint is a unfounded.
uuhhh did you not watch the end? he got super strength, super endurance, and zeuss lightning thing. pretty op or a demi god if you ask me
@@Koluvuma Frrs then seraphim then loses it like wtf
it bugged me that they teased him being competent in pankration at first. then made him a weak novice for the training sequences. wouldve been cool to see some pankration
Just finished the series real quick hot takes from me:
Pros; the overall art direction, designs, and backgrounds for the show are absolutely gorgeous
Seraphim and Zeus are interesting characters
The show seems to be made in the vain of the classic clash of the titans movie
A clear love and reverence for the original myths
The final battle is incredibly grandiose and spectacular to watch
Cons: actual animation ranges from ok to uninspired and rigid for a good portion on the show
The blaring Oprah chanting happens so much it takes me out of the moment at times
The pacing is incredibly, frustratingly slow and really highlights some really noticeable animation shortcuts
Too many panning shots of characters doing nothing
Plot is relatively simple and not as complex as it thinks it is
Most characters even the main ones aren’t fleshed out alltoo well
Too many flashbacks
Flashbacks and expositions are incredibly long and destroys the pacing
Said flashbacks and expositions that take entire episodes to go through can honestly be summed up or explained in 5 minutes at most
There’s a not too subtle air of pretentiousness when it comes to the series
The flashback scene with Seraphim and Hera made no sense in the way it was played out. I know in this scene Seraphim represents us the audience being told his story, but narritively, what sense does it make for Hera to tell one's life story that they already are completely aware of?
Also, I had a lot of issues with the plot. So many issues that shape my opinion of the show being bad.
I agree the Background und Style were amezing but the Animation was Sometimes sloppy or weird😕
Also most of the cast had the same face design
I watched the show and I’ll admit that it was really good. Not on the same level as Castlevania, but it still had great moments. Hopefully they’ll fix a few things with the dialogue if they get renewed for a second season
IDK. I think the action is really cool, but overall I don't like how they don't have enough dialogue. But it is something I'd visit back on.
I agree, the animation was amazing, the story follows standard Greek mythology formula which was fine, but the dialogue and character development was the weakest part of the series.
As somebody who just finished BoZ (loved it) and is about to begin Castlevania... it seems I'm in for a treat?
@@interdimensionalsteve8172 castlevania is easily one of Netflix’s best production 🙌🏿
@@thrasherxthrasher9899 Now that's i've watched the entire thing, completely agree! Especially the last two seasons, it seemed to just get better and better. The dialogue especially for an animated show was very impressive.
I feel like the series needed more episodes for character development
I agree, I also feel like the character writing needs to be more fully fleshed out. I say this as someone who just watches all two seasons of the series recently and took a liking to it.
The show was really good. I wish that poseidon had more of a part though cause he's always been my favorite greek god
This looks like it's drawn by the same people doing DC's work.
I like how the plot is very relevant to Greek mythology I’m talking about Zeus cheating on Hera repeatedly.
This show was okay, it wasn’t as amazing as people are making it out to be
I agree, I didnt care for much of the characters a part from Zeus. The show has potential though.
It was underwhelming honestly
@@AdvancedSapien tbh, yeah. Like even the finale was pretty "meh", in contrast to season 3 of Castlevania for example
Yeah some characters quite literally never spoke, ares only spoke like 2 lines and spent the rest of the season giving looks and fighting gods
@@naaben6533 lol...i went into the series fully expecting it to be on par with Castelevania...disappointment was what i got.
Concept art credits are the coolest, The Dragon Prince did something simmilar with original art tied to each episode
I love greek mythology and anime, so i loved this show. It was a great combo
I also love both of those but I really don’t like Zeus. Not that I don’t like evil characters but he’s just the most boring one you could pick. Come in man pick a son of hades or a son of a minor god (or a daughter of either). Much more interesting conflict and a much more interesting protagonist,
@Mimi Khas true considered how he fucks hundreds of women in the Greek myths.
you should try Saint Seiya! i think you'd like it too
I like Greek mythology and anime and i strongly disliked the shos. It felt like a bad anime, a boring take on Greek mythology. Like it was made by people who didn't care about either.
Its interesting how two people can like similar things and have very different opinions on something that intersects.
What about the show did you like?
@@StefanGinoFeuz The fact that it was made by Greek people who have been making Greek mythology stories for years is honestly pretty amazing to me. Clearly they've been forced to make concessions for very Hollywood, very American sensibilities, but were still able to make some amazing story beats and portray the personalities of the gods wonderfully.
Dude, its greek star wars, it all makes so much sense man (keep in mind: spoilers)
heron = luke skywalker (mc farmboy with magical heritage)
Zeus = Obi-wan Kenobi (wise guide who disguises as an old man, also dies)
seraphim = Darth Vader (a more complex villain who isn't the big bad but gets most of the screentime, also related to maincharachter)
hera = the emperor (big bad with a lot of power)
alexia = Leia (girl who is involved with the conflict before mc, and a partial reason for mc to join the conflict)
Evios = Han solo (cocky smuggler who reluctantly abandons his life of crime to aid the heroes)
Kofl = Chewbacca (partner who doesn't speak much and convinces his partner to help heroes, mostly muscle but has emotional inteligence)
Chiron = Lando (character who we first think is cool, then betrays good guys, then is cool again)
Fates (+zeus) = Yoda (source of wisdom)
Hermes could be r2d2 and c3po as in messengers but that connection is weak
demons = death star (big threat at the beginning, not threatening at all once heroes have dealt with it)
giants = death star 2 (old threat but just bigger)
zeus' sword = lightsaber (blue light, can cut through anything)
heron abandons his training to save his friends (i even think he quotes luke skywalker), he gets offered to join the villains by seraphim, ...
I do love blood of zeus and prefer to watch it over star wars but the stories are so similar it makes me rofl
George Lucas got a lot of his inspiration from Roman Empire, Greek mythology and WW2 Nazi Germany. Doesn’t surprise me.
Everytime they did one of these I couldn't help but laugh.
It all comes from the book a hero with a thousand faces most myths function the exact same way their are differences but you can pretty much sum it up as farm boy gets a call to adventure wise master villain that challenges the protagonist, the protagonist finally rises to the challenge and wins, issue is resolved, goes back to being farm boy now changed.
@@NaviRyan I get that but there are just sooo many simmularities, its funny to me
@Jacqueline Davis There are so many more similarities to it, then just being the hero's journey. Except for the maincharacter, the hero's journey doesn't even need other characters.
When you already watched it but still watch the review
Thanks for the likes👍🥰
Yes please keep the reviews going!! I was on the fence about this show but I'm all in to binge it after hearing your commentary ❤️
I didn’t really enjoy it. But I’ll watch anything Greek Mythology
I wish there were more character interactions. Coz they talk about how they’re all friends but they have like one conversation
The art is good, but the animation is just ok, the plot is idiotic and the direction LOVES using flashbacks.
And yes, the characters... only Zeus is enjoyable, for the others, 3 words:
DEATH. ISN'T. DEPTH. The show will go out of its way to kill any non-named character and a good chunk of the named ones for 0 weight beyond the shock value.
Fr, when they were storming the demons encampment with the thebean soldiers I thought it was so funny they added those two female warriors with distinct designs just too kill them off with no lines or importance to the story. They wasted interesting designs on what basically ended up being set dressings, lol
I HATE THIS SO MUCH!!!! And it completely devalues the concept of life and any sympathy I can have for these characters. Why should I gaf about your mom dying if you’ve slaughtered hundreds of thousands of innocent people? Tf?
That's one of many problems with this series. Its honestly not that good
I LOVE the art but the animation is so so. I feel the same way about castlevania, the animation isn’t as fluid and when it is the art style depreciates
Castlevania had much better animations and everything else. The first minutes of Blood of Zeus are so low budget, there even soundeffect of the arrows are missing. I dont know what the budget was, but they cut too many corners.
I gotta disagree with you on Alexia’s personality, she cared about her people and was heart broken to find her men dead. Plus I think we’ll see more of her and heron’s personality in the 2 season.
Yeah it seems like there is more to her, especially when they were crossing the plain of death or sum like that and they couldn’t turn around, and she ran into that lady from her past and her parents. I feel like if there is a season 2 they are going to go into that backstory
Tbh I agree to what you said, it's the main character (heron) can be easily overlooked due to the God's being there and just using them as their pawn, nothing really hooked me to really feel the character, I was really hoping that the "training with Zeus" might show us or at least teased us with a little bit of his potiential, character developement and ability "superpower" wise. Seraphim was a good Antagonist, I felt his anger and confusion, cause that's the most common thing amongst us humans to, but mostly the confusion part, and I sympathize with the guy, cause of his story, great backstory btw. Lastly, the team of Heron "the team mortal-tbh-can-have-potential-for-the-next-season-if-ever-there-is" shows a lot of potenial, Alexia can become Heron's lover or etc. the other two guys can be kings of a place somewhere, all I'm saying, there are soooo many potential, it's just sad that we don't get to see it..... if I'm going to rate this 8/10. Definitely a must watch.
Wish it had a season 2
After initially watching the series and enjoying everything in the moment, I rated it an 8/10. I enjoyed the characters at face value and the story as things were happening, but I did feel as though everything was rushed. However, after further thinking, I now rate it at a 6-6.5/10. The story was okay and had more potential to grow if it had more episodes to work with, but what we do have is a solid base for a second season to show more development and work towards a better over-arching plot line(hopefully with 15+ episodes). The gods were really good and I enjoyed the portrayal of Poseidon specifically, however I think the Zeus/Hera dynamic was plain and made Zeus out to be way more of a “good guy” than he was. The other characters have SO MUCH potential. Heron can be so amazing, as well as learning more about Alexia(the setup with her parents was really good). In the end, I still really enjoyed the show and I’m really hopeful for it to get better.
Stephen Youkoski I agree. I think it could of also been better if they explained who the gods were. Most of them I had no idea who they were even though they were major gods I’m assuming
@@Salty-kz8mg It was said who they were in the early episodes. I think they coulda explained it better, but it might be worth taking a 2nd look at it mane.
I like the animation style the overall package is good its just that the whole season story could've been told within 3-4 episode and they could've also made more side drama and story even within the main storyline
Man oh man I'm I happy your back on here, hearing you talk about shows is great when your so different from others when you speak on them.
I absolutely do intend to watch it, yes. The characters may be flat, but I will enjoy them regardless. Thx for the review Otaku.
Why is no one talking about the garbage animation? There are literally scenes that feel like a slideshow. It’s such a downgrade from Castlevannia
Yes it's garbage and cheap. It's choppy. I feel like they're cheap out and hired amateurs. It looks like it was animated by a fan. A choppy fan-made production. The sound effects, background music and its character designs are the only salvageable things from this project.
I don't think it's garbage
I mean sure it does feel limited at times but it did look good in plenty of fight scenes as well.
But yeah, it could have been wayyy better but it wasn't all that distracting in my opinion
Hopefully s2 will be better in terms of animation quality
Tbh, i expected a little bit more from the studio that made Castlevania
Dont forget the first series of Castlevania had some pretty choppy animation too. They made up for it in sudden spikes in animation (like the cyclops fight). My theory is that Castlevania had more money pumped into it because its a recognised ip wheras BOZ is new and unproven. That and they may have got their better animators to focus on the new castlevania series.
Hopefully the animation will improve over the series like castlevania
Thank you!! The whole direction and movement was so distracting ...
Thank you. This show was terrible
Just finished the series and totally loved it. The ending was crazy. I was very interested in learning more about the gods and how they use their abilities. Really hope they have another season.
As you said, the show was at its best during interactions between Zeus and Hera. Outside of that the rest of the show was incredibly dry... I ended up either using certain parts of the show as background noise whilst gaming or just flat out skipping sections to get to what seemed like more dynamic sequences.
Moreover due to the lack of excitement within the story, the shortcomings in the animation became even more glaring when they could be have been forgiven in a more compelling story as was in the case of Castlevania.
Honestly, I was hyped for the show and I'm quite disappointed in the end product. I'll watch a second season if it's released but I'll go in with the bar set quite low and only to see if the story is in anyway more engaging.
Certainly the show isn't perfect, but it's a great watch. I generally feel like the Greek Mythology offers so much materiel for great series/movies
The Gods were so well written, I just wish the humans were given same treatment. Like bruh The minmaxed the hell out of his show
I mean if you have Netflix, sure watch it, I mean if you are already subscribed.
I don't think it's bad in that sense, but I didn't much care for it myself. It lacked any strong character moments, and focused more on just slamming out backstory after backstory; never letting any character shine, and missing any real wit or charm like Castlevania had.
Short answer: YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I never understood why these god's would vary in how much they interfered with humanity and the motivations for their actions. The portrayal in this show depicts the socio-political clime the God's operated in and made it make sense. I love the way it's written. Breathes life into an epic and I really enjoyed it. A long act 1 but I enjoy the lore
I found it to be a hollow attempt at recreating Castlevania. For one, the dialogue feels way more stiff and inorganic, like the people aren't having actual conversations but are just saying what they have to say to progress the story. There is also no justification for why Heron can do anything the way he does. All we know about him was he was raised a poor bastard in a secluded town and mined ore for a living. I would think that would make him a strong brawler type, yet he fights with a bow and arrow where he has uncanny accuracy with. In Castlevania, Trevor is good with a whip and knowledgeable on monsters because he trained in that specifically. His skills are justified by his actions, his character, and his past. None of that depth is present in Blood of Zeus, it just feels empty was what makes a good show great.
I would like to see more reviews from you, I enjoyed the video and will check out the show. I'm always at a loss for things to watch so the suggestions help out!
It had such promise...but i feel like it was rushed and tried to cram an entire plethora of stories into just 8 episodes. I really do hope that if there is a season 2 that they take it a bit slower than season 1 and develop a more enticing storyline thats not too long to bore the viewers, not too short that it disappoints fans, but hits that sweet spot where it keeps fans wanting more at the end of a season.
i binged it all in one go, i feel you hit the nail on the head, heron and company definitely are on the more basic side but there is a of interesting potential for growth. if they get a second season it would be nice to see them take center stage a bit more, seraphims arch i feel was quite good.
The trailer had kind of a castlevania vibe, I’m going to be giving it a watch
I want a crossover between Castlevania and Blood of Zeus. I think that will be awesome
Edit : Slice of Otaku, I want you to talk more on the characters on Castlevania, The Dragon Prince and Blood of Zeus
OMG I would love to watch more reviews and thoughts of The Dragon Prince. It was definitely WWWAAAAYYYYY too busy of a show. But they still introduced a couple of themes I thought were an intrigue, if they could be pulled off well enough.
The time setting between the two is not compatible
@@kelechiojobor933 Have you watch Season 3 of Castlevania? Because there is a guy named St. Germain.....
@@Kuestiinzane no i havent
I just finished binging it and honestly it was pretty solid. It ain't as good as masterpieces like Castlevania obviously but if you're bored and wanna watch something fun, then I recommend this. It's only 8 episodes and each is like 30 minutes so it doesn't really take that long to watch it all.
I was taught some Greek mythology back in secondary school but was never the biggest fan. I recently watched Blood of Zeus with somebody who's really passionate about the mythology side of things and we both loved it. It was actually really fun to occasionally pause the episodes and let the person explain to me the story behind every god and demigod. But I would've still had a great time with the show without it. The animation is really well done. It's not Castlevania level just yet but definitely has the growth potential.
It's funny you say that about the human characters. Which I agree with. But my main complaint was how most of the gods didn't have character either. Besides maybe Zeus and Hera.
That leave nobody else in this series with real character 😂
The gods besides a handful don't do more than grunge and nod disapprovingly in the background.
And if you somehow knew nothing about Greek mythology coming in there really wouldn't be nothing to the ones presented.
I love the show as a major fan of Mythology definitely Greek mythology I think this was one of the best representation of classical Greek myths they have done in a long time I'm hoping they bring out action figures like they did for Castlevania and of course a new season..
It was really good, finished it when it came out. Ending was a cool but left a lot of lingering questions. 9/10 would recommend. Hope there's a second season.
SPOILER WARNING
I LOVED it. As someone who loves Greek mythology, this show is as great as Percy Jackson. However I thought it was pretty lame how they killed Zues at the end. I also wish they showed more of the gods intermingling with the humans. Other than that it was absolute perfection
I had the reminder set up on Netflix for when it dropped and it didn't disappoint. I agree with everything you said. Particularly I liked how the Gods specifically Zeus was portrayed as the way they're supposed to be. Liked this design of Zeus as well.
looks amazing and the god interacting and fighting was really fun and interesting since they had actual relationships to play on and between but the human side of things always felt rushed. the characters where close together and split apart and put back together over the span of three episodes. the fact that human protagonist and the antagonist are brothers honestly never seems to mater.
The animation and art was really nice but the writing fell flat for me sometimes.
One thing that really bugged me was the weird continuity seen during the "war between the gods and the titans/ giants scene. A lot of the gods shown in the fight weren't born yet. Then there was the "cyclops" and the "hundred handed ones." They weren't "giants" in the old stories they were the siblings of the titans. I know they wrote those characters in that manner for the sake of time but it still bugs me.
Good show. I agree that there wasn't enough time for character development for the human characters but also the other gods aside from Zeus and Hera. I'd like to know more about their relationships and rivalries, it would've even been better to know that before the final conflict at the end of the season to make the battles more enjoyable and have more stakes to them.
Still, I wholeheartedly support this studio's attempt at creating western adult animation with this and Castlevania and I will be looking forward to whatever they bring up next.
Great debut just watched the screen writers on beyond the trailer talk about how they had to take parts out because of budget but ready to add more depth if Netflix approves 2nd season
NO WELL......BACK THEN, HERA GETTING DIVORCED MEANT THAT SHE WOULD LEAVE HER POSITON AS QUEEN .......AND THAT WAS THE ONLY THING APART FROM AREIS......HERA REALLY HAD
Yes!! This show definitely has so much potential and I love how realistic the conflict was.
What is the show at 1:50 ? It looks like TDP but I’ve fineshed it and never saw that frame
Credit scene with designs is so cool, that I am glad The Mandalorian did the same approach.
Loved the show! Would love to see more sides of the others in the pantheon as well!
I certainly agree, the gods themselves are interesting characters but the regular humans even our main character Hera needed to be more developed as a person. Which is strange considering the first 4ish episodes of this 8 episode season spend so much time with world building and giving everyone backstory.
There isn’t much of a showdown untill the final episode which does leave things open-ended.
This first season felt a bit like a prolauge to the real story they want to tell by the second season.
I hope this is the case because I can’t see this show lasting more than 2 seasons if this is the best they can do in show about greek mythology with gods waring between eachother and regular peopel caught in the middle of it all.
That anime with the doll guy with blades for arms, does anyone recall its name? I've been trying to find out with no success.
omfg I started this show when it came out. Just finished it yesterday then I'm finishing Castlevania. The Blood of Zeus is great! Just love the art style and creativity of the monsters. The thing it lacks is some backstory of some of the characters and lacked some character development. Apollo is perfection though tbh lmao. It'd be cool to concern Kronos or something. WHAT TRIGGERED ME WAS WHERE DID HERA GO????? LIKE SHE VANISHED INTO CROWS BUT IT DIDN'T SAY WHERE SHE WENT!! AAAAAAA
I've rewatched blood of Zeus twice and Castlevania 3 times. We need more series like them. Seraph of the End is a great anime that resembles castlevania
Nice I will also rewatch amazing series. Some people complaining lol I loved it. Going to watch Castlevania after
God of war the video games was what introduced me to greek mythology and I can't get enough of it since... I frath at the mouth for just about any greek content and I love this series
Does anyone know which cartoon/anime 2:26 was taken from?
Could someone tell me the show at 2:28 ? It honestly looks really cool at the first glance .
I agree with you but also the writers say that they had to cut a lot for this season
Maybe they can flesh the characters more in season 2
I think I'll give it another chance. The characters didn't really interest me and the action scenes in some way lacks purpose. I get that they show these undead looking things were taking vengeance for the Titans but the first episode never gave me a reason to chose a side. From what I remember the Greek Gods were kind of d*cks and the Greeks insisted on killing Socrates. To be honest I don't know much of the Titans so I didn't know who to go for and that's why the action meant nothing to me.
1:31 does anybody know the anime? please tell me...
I know the music isn’t ground breaking but I rlly do enjoy it and one of the only times I didn’t skip the intro because it was short and I like seeing the different animations of it
Hey if you'd like to do more videos on Blood of Zeus, like how accurate it is to greek mythology, all gods who appear, etc I'd love to help you out. I studied Mythology and History.
Will be watching this thank you
I love the credits for the mandalorian as they show concept art for the episodes
will you be doing Seis Manos?
What's the name of the animation at 01:44 and at 02:24?
Quick question what anime is that at 1:28 ?
Literally just got done watching and then saw your vid, I got the same issues with it, I didn't get too attached to the characters bc we barely got characterization. It felt like they wanted to focus on nothing but action like modern superhero movies wish they chilled and gave a bit more explanation on some plot points. I have prior knowledge on a lot of greek gods and mythology so it was neat to see some of that but again I wish they took their time a bit, let us see the sights of this great world & its characters. It was a cool ride but I wouldn't go back to it, I need more than 2 interesting characters. Also when it comes to modern cartoons not bein super mind grabbing anymore, I kinda have to disagree, I ran into that prob a bit with Amphibia where I just skipped some episodes bc it was really predictable to me but shows like owl house, mao mao, Craig of the creek, etc are all so interesting. I think the kids of today have a lot smarter and more interesting shows than we did growing up. I cant think atm of any shows that are super bad or too predictable besides the super heavy comedy cartoons but that's always been an issue anyway. Or I have a smooth brain and am entertained easily, sorry for the paragraph
Yea it was pretty good I watched it in one sitting I loved it in general! I hope for a season 2 just like I hope for a s2 to seis manos as well
I haven't watched it yet. I was wondering if i should. Thanks for the review, I'll watch it once I get the chance.
As a concept artist the designs of characters (the giants especially) really drew me in. The plot could have better I was expecting a plot twist but they never really did anything special. I do think it’s a good show and deserves a watch even if it is only for the art
Can Someone tell me the what the anime is at 1:49 ?
Can someone tell me what the anime is at 2:25 ?
Sure hope they do Norse mythology next.
I haven’t watched it yet (despite Netflix suggesting it), and was flip flopping on whether I would, but I may now that I understand a bit more of what it is. Thanks!
what show is the clip at 1:50 from?
Honestly if they dropped the Heron and friends plot line and just made it drama about the gods I'd have been way more into it. Or if they dropped the gods and made it a solely a human drama about existing in a world controlled by gods I would have enjoyed it. But they split the difference and it fell mostly flat for me. If they get a second season, they definitely should pick a lane and stay in it.
The music was great made use of the old Clash of the titans and Jason and the Argonauts flavour
I've always wanted an anime with the Greek gods and this started to scratch the itch but I feel like it needs more time to be developed and worked out however I feel like it could become an amazing show just giving a little more effort
what is the name of the anime at 1:28?
What is the show at @1:50?
Watch Seis Manos!!!! It's incredible.
It's also from Powerhouse lmao
Ayyyy SEIS MANOS
I saw the first 3 episodes. Definitely I intrigued. Was wondering if it was worth continuing..thanks!!
You should review Castlevania next!
OMG WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN
