- FINALLY back with an update on the 280zx and I have a feeling some of you may dislike me after this one..
BUT in all reality there are parts of this car that really need some love and attention. I could barely stand to drive it with the way that it was!! She will be back and better than ever after some much needed TLC!

I'm actually old enough to have owned a 1979 Datsun 280-ZX two-tone (brown and gold) at the start of my Senior year HS in 1986. The car only had 25K miles at the time. I spent everything I had and then some to pay for its $3300 price tag. I was so broke afterwards I couldn't even afford the gas for my second tank! But, I had the absolute best looking car coming into Senior year! I remember back in 1983 when your car was brand new. I used to go to the Datsun dealership just to admire it because there was no way to afford it! I'm glad that the new generations are showing love for the 280ZX!

Your level of enthusiasm for cleaning a car is what all of us car guys/girls felt like when we stilll had hope in our heart and believed when our friends told us that a "20min job" would be 20min. Now I'm lucky to finish a 20min project in under 2 hours after a bolt snaps and my snapon hits me in the face 🤣🤣
However, there is a cool feeling of accomplishment in cleaning and stripping a car

I own and have done the same thing to a zx; wish mine was a turbo though. Great cars, I drive mine off road and they are surprisingly capable off road. Good luck on your build. I just stumbled across this video. I only watched it because I am partial to 280zx's.

very epic, i just sorted out a shifting issue with mine cuz i put the clutch master cylinder in and didnt adjust it but it now moves after 14 years of sitting dormant under a tree in a old mans yard :]

Very good. I just bought a 1980 280zx, and luckily the previous owners seem to have done all of the stripping work for me. All of the panels were chilling in the back of the car, and they replaced the carpet too. Not bad for the $650 I bought it for...
This makes me anxious I like modifying my care one part at a time. I can’t imagine rebuilding it from the bottom up😱

Oh...no it make me go back to 1994 again. I really miss my old Nissan Datsun 280zx red color and look very nice and still in good condition that time I sell it. That time I was 24 year young man and ragged 😀😀😀😀. Thank you for your video

This was a genuinely enjoyable video, I loved how you were just silly and enjoyed doing what you did. That’s what it’s about! I also really liked that we could see you progressively grow in your knowledge. Plus you’re easy on the eyes 😍
They make pry bars for interior removal that would help prevent any damage to the door pieces and dash you don't want to damage. You also could have kept the interior pieces to use as a mold for the new interior unless you are going race car stripped.

@@SenCityOfficial smart and you could easily grow your channel and make $$$, sponsor deals, affiliates, if you at least post once a week. I know with the corona virus it makes it a lot more difficult but still doable.
There's a company called Safety Restore that you can send your seatbelts to and they will replace the webbing, can get lots of different colors too.

Props to getting in there and doing the dirty work lol. Alot of those parts break super easily in the way out. Not sure what your plans are, but sometimes you can get great results from epoxy and painting those old plastic panels and reusing them. It's difficult to find replacement interior plastics that arent already in rough shape. They dont add much weight and will make the car feel much nicer on the inside compared to a completely stripped interior. Also check out skillard.com for door cards and other interior parts. He mostly makes S30 parts but theres some things available for the s130 as well.

I have a 1979 280zx and I’m making the drive train a 3.8 liter v6 mustang with hidden rollcage and some other custom stuff but yeah mines gonna be far from stock, like the only thing that will be stock is the VIN lol. Keep up the great work

Ya I feel you just swapped a Red interior into my 83 2+2 a lot of scraping and scrubbing and glueing so much nasty looking forward to seeing more from you as I just found you if you want to see any of my Z you can find my on Instagram i tend to specialize in s130 Zs
Tip when your taking apart bolts nuts use a wire tie to tihem to the part u took them off good luck

I have a styling cue recommendation for your build, check out the Paul Newman (yes the actor) 280zx. The fender flares and the whale tail might be somewhat difficult to come by but it doesn't hurt to check it out. Best of luck with the project.

Hey Sarah! Finally got around to watching your videos! Definitely a different way to see your personality that we don't get from IG. I know you mentioned you would love some video editing input so here is some from your friendly neighborhood washed up videographer!
1. Honestly your editing is perfect for just starting out. You aren't going too crazy on transitions with your intro and it might be good to add some to the rest of your video. Your music isn't too loud and overpowering with your camera audio, which is always a plus for me.
2. I think my only critique would be to maybe add a little bit more of your personality into the editing. You look like you have some energy that could reflect well in that and set you apart from others. Also, you are already a step above others since Aaron is recording for you. Maybe you can have Aaron do some more shots with motion in them in the future that can step up your video game even more.
I think that's it! Loved the video! Can't wait for the next one.
