Making your own clothes is not always going to be the cheapest route. That's not what the point is though, when you create something, it is of your own. You made that!
Thats true, but the beauty of it is, that your honing skills you probably didn't even know you had, your going to be making something that actually 'fits' right, and its going to be something totally individual that 'You' made! So for me, thats worth every stitch :-) Plus you save a fortune on repairs and alterations in the long run.
For quality compared to what you would get if you bought the same quality in the store its ALWAYS cheaper. The only thing it will cost you is time. You're never gonna spend a grand or more on a jacket you made yourself unless you make it of all the finest leathers and silks, but to buy the same thing in stores is gonna cost you 4 times that.
This video is awesome. I'm a beginner sewer and I appreciate how you explain step by step what you need to do. A lot of other videos I've watched on sewing tutorials skip certain steps and/or don't explain things that are not obvious to a beginner. I feel a lot more confident of creating a jacket after watching this
Dude! I love this jacket. Coming from someone who's been designing for 11 years I do want to fill u in on a couple things. When you do the rib on the sleeves to keep it clean sew the two sides of the rib knit together first, fold it in half, then attach it to the sleeve. It's pointless to line the entire jacket and still have raw edges, you know? Also if you're going to go the route you did with the lining, use a baste (bigger) stitch so that you won't have those seam lines in the fabric and you can pull that out and keep it clean with regards to stitching lines. Again, more for aesthetic purposes. I've only made one bomber/letterman jacket in my life (for a baby Gerber commercial) so watching this for an adult is super sick! Btw RIParadise to your grandma. 🙏🏾
+Ezequiel Ochoa such hostility towards someone that was giving him little pointers that would make his life easier...and his designs more professional. Ken, I got a little teary-eyed at the end. I'm so sorry for your lost. This is the greatest honor to carry on the legacy of our loved ones. I miss my grandma dearly. She sparked my interest in sewing. Her hand-sewing skills was impeccable. This is the best sewing tutorial from start to finish. Your pictorials illustrations, voice over, and visual step-by-step are awesome. I love everything about this bomber jacket. My condolences to you and your family. May your grandma rest in peace.

FashionLY .Exposed I'm sorry to hear that. I always wanted to attend fashion school. Money problems and external conflicts kept me from it. I'm actually glad it did. My friends just finished their years and told me they didn't learn anything LOL. Thank you for your condolences.
Oh wow. First off, WOW that jacket is awesome! Second of, amazing tutorial! Not a beat of waiting, not a moment of redundancy, just straight to the point. Beautiful!
Hey man, I've been keeping up with your videos for a while, and I have to say I'm really in awe as to how much you've progressed since starting out. I've watched all the way back from when you were doing custom hoodie pockets to custom hat brims, but this really blew my mind. I too have been making my own clothes following your tutorials, and it's through your videos that have inspired me to pursue a career in fashion. Keep doing what you're doing, you have the support of me and many others keeping up with your channel.
your tutorial was a success. i just made a jacket for my 3 yr old. i have the lining left to complete but your directions were amazing. This is the first piece of clothing I've sewn. thanks to you it wont be my last.
This is fantastic. Thank you for putting it together. I can see it took significant time to prepare, shoot, edit, time stamp and publish. Its truly excellent and I can't thank you enough for your generosity with yours skills, creativity and expertise.
Thank you so much for this tutorial! My daughter wants to be Harley Quinn for Halloween but we couldn't find a jacket. I found two men's coats at a thrift store in the fabric colours needed. Then I just followed your awesome tutorial, and it turned out perfectly! What a lifesaver!
Very articulately explanation of how to make this jacket, Thank-you!!! I do think the comment about a baste stitch is excellent as I have just finished upholstering an intricate recliner and found the baste stitch a life saver... nice clean lines!!
Where have you been all of my life. I was looking for a tutorial for denim elastic on jogger pants and stumbled upon your tutorial this video was thumbnailed below. I'm so excited. Ill be on your page all of the time now. I knew the basics of what your doing but you capture the details. Plus Joanns is my favorite store.
+isela Santos You should. I recently made my own tent after thinking I would never do something like this (I'm a huge procastinator) and I saved myself hundreds of dollars. It was a pain in the ass but now I feel like I can make anything.
OH MY GOSH this is legit the BEST sewing tutorial I have ever watched, you go over every detail and the way you explain the measurements was fantastic. Thank you for this!! I can't wait to use it for my next cosplay! :)
AYEE BUT THAT BOMBER JACKET THO! This was by far one of the greatest tutorials ever. As soon as I learn to use and purchase a sewing machine I will try all of your tutorials. Thank you very much.
You did a fantastic job at making a more complex project seem approachable for beginners. Very well done! You've just earned yourself a new subscriber.
At 22:04 of the video, after you pinned the zipper and midstrip, did you also pin the lining then sew it all together, OR did you do the zipper and midstrip, then sewed the lining separately?
I've watched this tutorial some many times on different occasions and it's been a great help for me in making a puffer jacket rather than a bomber jacket but still a great help! thanks! R.I.P to your grandma also Great video!
Great job, the jacket is beautiful. Creations is off the chain. I'm just getting back to sewing, my next project is making a bomber jacket. I like this style indeed. 👍👏
omgoodness the jacket is great! i know it takes forever to actual make the jacket but it must be so nice to make the clothes you want; exactly how you would like it. awesome video.
I was having such a hard time finding out how to make these templates without already having a bomber jacket. your video really helped me thank you keep making videos I love them.
Hi Andrew! This is an AWESOME Tutorial; and your demonstration was thoroughly easy to follow.I have now learned how to sew; and will try my hand with this Bomber Jacket.Your Grandma is very Proud of you I know, Bless her Soul! Thanks A Million, Perpetual Success & God Continue to BLESS!~Add Love!™
I found your tutorial really approachable and well-done. I'm planning to make a bomber jacket soon, and you've given me so much confidence. I was wondering why you seemed to be doing so much extra work by finishing every edge before inserting the lining. Then, when I saw how you very cleverly attached the lining, it all made sense. Your way may be a little slower, but much less difficult than bagging or hand-sewing the lining. Very impressive. I look forward to seeing the rest of your tutorials.
Very good job man!!! I love it! Not only for the jacket, its too because of the way you show everything and explain it all! I would love to do it with shoes, I am making shoes, any kind. Keep on working!
I love how thorough you are with describing every little detail! It makes a big project seem doable for a newbie like me lol Thank you for making this video, I'm gonna use this along with tweaking some things for my particular jacket type, and make my cosplay. :)
Ayee but that bomber jacket tho 🙏🙏 Tbh you have the best tutorials here. All the other youtubers are boring and not helpful and I got better at my sewing skills because of you! Thanks . Keep up the good work !!!
I want to do this so bad but I can't decide what the sleeve fabric should be and I think I might try to make it by hand. I prefer to be able to do projects by hand rather than machine since I typically am doing crafts in the dead of the night when the family is sleeping.... I loved the video! Thank you!!!!

+peter lee What kind of bomber jackets are we talking about here? I'm not exactly sure how much all this stuff cost in stores but you can get fabric, insulation, and accessories online for way lower than what most brand name jackets would sell for. Price also depends on the type of nylon as there are so many different weights, thicknesses, and levels of waterproofness/breathability that it can get confusing. Look up forums/threads where people make their own outdoor jackets/gear for hiking.
Hey Ken thank you for creating such a detailed video, my condolences as well. You really have a passion for teaching others which is great keep up the great work and that bomber jacket came out sick!

may your gran rest in peace! you put so many manhours into this jacket but the result and your hard work did not disappoint! the endproduct was amazing!
I need to know after he adds the 1 inch around the jacket and then drops the neckline 3 inches, do you add back the 1 inch or leave it alone because it's being dropped from the part that has the 1 inch seam allowance
Making your own clothes is not always going to be the cheapest route. That's not what the point is though, when you create something, it is of your own. You made that!

The bomber jacket is super cool thank you for showing me how to make it. Watching this makes me want to begin to make clothes just like you should me.

I need to know after he adds the 1 inch around the jacket and then drops the neckline 3 inches, do you add back the 1 inch or leave it alone because it's being dropped from the part that has the 1 inch seam allowance
This is seriously DOPE!!! You're killing it bro!!
ItsMaya Thanks bro!
