I served with the US Army in Korea in 1987-88; I remember just how many tailor shops there were right out the main gate of Camp Casey. Also how uniformly excellent the quality of workmanship was. Don't be fooled by other imported goods; the Korean people have a long and rich tradition of craftsmanship in the fiber and sewing arts. I would happily wear one of these jackets and feel good about things.
Should have been there 10 yrs earlier, everything was shit. Great people, but when I was there they still had a ways to go. Most leather jackets were of dog hide and the thread they used for stitching would fall apart. Most clothing could not take the beating the laundry gave it. Women beating your clothing to death with a stick on a rock along the river.
1973-74 8th Army Base, it was all cheap stuff, the gas at the OK Coral gas station was 13 cents a gallon back then, even with the crunch back in the States it was still 13 cents a gallon. Hamburgers were 10 cents and the base theatre cost 25 cents. I can still hear Jimi on the radio sitting poolside at the rec area. The OK Coral gas station was on the E Tae Won side of the base. I'm sure the clothing is tip top these days and the gas,,,, it sure as hell ain't 13 cents a gallon anymore!
It has been a dream of mine since a young boy to one day own an authentic sheepskin bomber jacket like this. What a privilege to watch these craftsmen work their magic here! I am assuming that is genuine sheepskin they are using but I just marvel at the consistency of the material! Even the leather they start with looks amazing!! Thank you so much for making and sharing this video.
I absolutely understand you! I love leather too. I had the same dream, now I own a similar leather jacket, being very happy for that. Watching the work with leather is fascinating, I admire very much how prople can turn simple animal hides into a beautiful jacket. What about you, have you bought such a sheepskin bomber or do you wear a common leather jacket at least?
@@lukasbejcek8841 I love leather too! This types of shearling leather jackets are highly expensive, and the weather in my country is quite hot even in the winter. Some remote parts have weather cold enough for this jackets but that's extremely rare. I've settled for a very nice and classically designed café racer leather jacket, with minimal sections, and made of lamb leather. It's good enough for me. Unfortunately i start to grow out of it and getting fatter 😅 i still dream of a shearling jacket...

@@SababaSwift Hi, I am glad to meet another leather lover! Thanks for sharing! It is a pity you can´t wear these jackets in your country. Yes, fur is quite warm 😕But a simple leather jacket can also be very elegant - and lamb leather is a guarantee of quality... And if you are getting fatter... you have to buy a new one! In fact, take it as a good reason for buying a new jacket 😀 I have had 3 leather jackets (and still being young!), the first one from my teen age was getting too tight, too - so it had to go away and was replaced! No problem! It is quite expensive but I never regret. I am a leather man, I try to us leather as much as possible. The best thing in my eyes is how well it protects against windchill in the winter. That dude plays that sewing machine like a prodigy plays a Stradivarius violin. I don't know what they charge for that jacket, but it's worth it. That is some master-level craftmanship!
It is a joy to watch a skilled craftsman work. I would even be interested in an apprenticeship doing this. The machines also are fascinating. About 2 years ago, I bought a leather jacket at a thrift shop that needed the "vest" part of the inside lining. I took out the tattered, shredded remains out of the jacket very carefully with a seam ripper so I could make a pattern, which I used on new satin fabric and high performance insulating fabric. Using a flat, horizontal table sewing machine to put things together made it a challenge, and some parts I had to reattach with hand sewing. The video was very fascinating, to state the least.
Want to add pockets to my sheep fur jacket but I’m hesitant because I have little experience in sewing and my machine is probably too weak. So hand sewing it is 😂
This is the most relaxing thing I've watched today, the music, and the witnessing of this beautiful product being made... I don't know what to say I've never been more delighted in my life to sit here and watch this masterpiece unfold before my eyes whilst the sound of music and tools enters my ears and affects my brain, I absolutely praise the person who put their time and efforts into this leather jacket. I enjoy this so much I can hardly find the words to demonstrate my appreciation for this masterpiece.
Da mucha satisfacción verlo trabajar con tanto esmero cariño y perfección e inspira a uno a mejorar, soy tapicero y también entro en parte la costura pero al ver este trabajo me da muchas ganas de mejorar, gracias por el video
I don't know about you guys, but I would work for this man and learn everything I could just so one day, maybe, I could keep his legacy going on... old ways like this MUST BE PRESERVED.
So efficient… it's hard to imagine the person that made those templates that he relies on so much, had an easy time making them… though it wouldn't surprise me too much, if he had? Not after watching this gentleman here work. Very skilled. If it wasn't for the machine… you would never know he was there. Thank you, for sharing.

Когда-то давно, в 90-е годы у меня была такая меховая куртка. Их называли " пилот".
Только приятные и тёплые воспоминания!!!
Сейчас они снова в моде, цикличность. Зимой постоянно и женщин, и мужчин в них видела

That dude plays that sewing machine like a prodigy plays a Stradivarius violin. I don't know what they charge for that jacket, but it's worth it. That is some master-level craftmanship!
A classic and iconic cut and a sombre reminder of the Brave Allied Airmen who relied on them in freezing conditions in WW2.
Well done 👌
