    Bekele was absolutely unstoppable on this day. So dominant in every facet. Basically led the entire race and no one could keep up

    might be bekele's greatest race. He just put the foot on the pedal the entire way while people just couldn't hang with the pace. Amazing.

      Fish Bajan generally championship performances are considered greater because of a lack of pacers and lots of pressure. This was also a relatively fast final, and he soloed the last 1600 m in 3:57!!! 3:57 is insane.

      I think it was Olympics 2004 Athens in 10,000m, he started sprinting at 100m mark going towards the bell and sprinting all the way

      Bruh. I hate how everyone thinks Eliud didn't have any speed. One of the prime examples of his speed was in the 2003 WC 5000m final, or his 3:33 1500 and 3:50 mile. He wasn't always a marathoner.

    He is truly a gift from God!!! That stride is unmatched.His back leg kick makes a circular motion which gives him the speed.He is the perfect distance runner......

    This was one of the greatest 5000m races of all time. Brilliant combination of talent and tactful racing. The 3:59 closing mile is just plain ridiculous. I don't know if that has ever been replicated since then.

    I just watched 2004 Athens and then this race. He ran this race perfectly. Selfishly speaking I wish El Guerrouj was still racing. However, I am very, very happy for Bekele and glad Kipchoge moved up to marathon. All 3 of them are a joy to watch. Thanks for posting.

      It is is so much different these days. Abebe Bekila won the Marathon barefoot in Mexico City. Please look at the video. I could have met him. These days all these runners are like rock stars. Can't even get close to kiss them

    Bekele gonna repeat this at the 2020 Olympics after 26 miles. That really was the most insane kick ever, he made Kipchoge realise that he was never gonna beat Bekele on the track.

      @@jamesmcnaughton9939 i mean 2 seconds difference and bekele had injuries and everything before that is why he just could train 3 months properly and still was just 2 seconds behind kipchoges world record. We will see if he will beat him but i am sure that he is capable of doing so.

    Killer on the day. The year 2008:Kenenisa Bekele was totally unbeatable both on the track and cross country. He put the race out of the reach of anyone daring to challenge him. He was ready to slaughter anyone who dares to challenge him.

    These world class athlete are a different breed. If you happen to race them their run looks like to you something happening in a dream. They run almost effortlessly at impossible speed. It is inborn. From Bikila to coe to ovett to viren to yifter to elguruuz to haile to tergat and bekeke to kipchoge... all have that x factor thar made them different from the rest.

    Brilliant race - last 5 laps under 5 mins - last mile under 4 mins and last lap 53.8 seconds unmatchable. (Wish he did this in 2004) time 12:57.8 OR

      Nobody said Kipchoge is the goat of long distance running he's the goat of marathon only. Kenenise is the goat of long distance running period he's the best versatile athlete in long distance running.

    They kept a super fast pace for quite a while. For that man to sprint that fast for the last lap makes me wonder if he is a normal human being like me. Goodness that was awesome. How does he eat the pain so well? That's why he's one of the greats.

    I think the commentator got the time on the last lap wrong. It was lower than what he said by like three seconds or so. Why do these commentators always screw up so much?
