Morning Ian, enjoyed your video, yep some car drivers seem oblivious to other road users, great scenery again especially in the layby at the end. Well I had a good 2hrs test ride on a Guerrilla yesterday and I'm pleased to say, I've ordered one 😀, so I'm looking forward to having many trips out on it 😊
Thank you Malcolm. Yes we have to have our wits about us, that’s for sure. I love it up there ! Really pleased you liked the Guerrilla enough to buy one….what colour have you ordered ?
@@ianhughesroyalenfield yep I tried sticking to 4000 revs yesterday for a while, but the bike doesn't like it. It's a good job it's only for 300 miles 😀
A lovely ride Ian; that tosser in the Merc wont have a clue what that was about; some folk are just buck gormless i'm afraid. You'll have to come back when my birth sign is run; now that'll be fun. Till then, ride safe.
That was a nice spirited ride Ian and Scorpion. I like the sound of the engine and exhaust as it goes along. I daresay after market exhausts will be available soon.
I am actually starting to think the sound from the exhaust is ok Simon, and find the exhaust silencer looks attractive. Might seem to be spirited, but just need to have a couple of extra revs to make it more interesting 😂😈 Cheers
Hi Ian , I live around this area , and as a bike addict , I never get bored of riding these roads , I’ve plenty of bikes , but the guerrilla is going to be my next purchase, nice to see you actually blip the throttle on the downshifts , big bikes around these roads is more frustrating then enjoyable , 🏍🏍👍👍 in 44 yrs of riding these roads on most of the stupidest powerful bikes on the planet , I’ve had more fun doing it on Monkeybikes and groms , I class myself as a 62 year old teenager , but the guerrilla is next it looks a joy to ride 🏍🏍👍👍
Morning Jim. I am Carnforth based, so not too far away. I too have done the Kirkstone on a variety of bikes, but the best have definitely been my Classic 350 to take in the views, and the Guerrilla for fun at slightly higher speeds. Hopefully you have seen my later Snowdonia vids on the Guerrilla, as the terrain is quite similar…..with the one coming out on Monday, highlighting the fun factor. Many thanks, and all the best 🎄🎅
Good to hear the tyres appear more than up to the job as I swopped to michelin on my Hunter 350 as the MRF tyres were not good at all. Also glad I chose the playa black colour as it looks superb in your videos.
Morning Ian, lovely video. In the end I’ve gone for the Speed 400 instead of the Guerilla. The only reason for that was that my nearest Royal Enfield dealer is 300 miles away in Glasgow and the Triumph only 150 in Aberdeen! One of the few disadvantages of living in the Outer Hebrides!
Well Tim, you will choose to live in these far flung places 😂. I thought we were hard done to here, but nothing compared to you 😳. The Speed 400 is a cracking little bike as well, so I am sure you will be very happy. All the best.
Morning Ian, you got some cracking weather there eh! Yep the car driver's are a pain cutting straight through the bends ,too frigging lazy to turn the wheel, You'll soon have it run in ,then you can release the revs , I passed a couple of cars on my road test yesterday going up hills and it doesn't half take off! 😅 Enjoy your weekend Cheers Mel 🍻
Hi Ian, after 2hrs of test ride, I’ve just ordered myself a playa black guerrilla. Can’t wait to pick it up. Shame the weather is better suited to boats at the minute 😂
Congratulations Ricky 🥳. Yes the weather is awful, but supposed to be drying out tomorrow 🤞. Gone bloody cold though 🥶. I have fitted my Keis heated clothing plug, so all will be well 😊. As you can see, running in is a pain, but it will be worth it in the end 😈 When is collection day ?
Thanks 🙏 I’ve got keis heated vest and gloves absolute game changer for winter rides. Waiting on delivery to the dealer should be about 10 days all being well. Yeah I’m not looking forward to the running in period. I think the first 300 miles will be the hardest. Agree with you that the bike really likes to be above 4k in the rev range. My first RE after having a few Hondas.
@rickydowns1289 welcome to the club ✊ Yes, I found Keis through some RUclipsr friends, like you say, a game changer. I have the heated jacket and socks, plus RST battery heated gloves….bloody brilliant, even in January/February 😎
No-one has ever mentioned how the Kirkstone Pass got is name. It is most obvious on the ascent rather than the descent. A few hundred yards from the top is a huge huge rock on the right that resembles a church tower. IE:Kirk. Have a look next time you go up.
Sunning scenery Ian. and weather being kind to you. Wont be long before we exceed 4000 revs. Have you got any modification planned apart from new levers when avaiable ? it wouldnt suprise me if the handle bar lever assy are commom to other Royal Enfields. thereby making levers interchangable. Worth checking out. Ride safe. Until the next time. Bfn Mike. Sunny Wales
Afternoon Mike. Weather miserable and wet here today. I am looking for a set of genuine RE touring mirrors, to save me having to remove them every time we load Scorpio into the van. I think, with the aid of an Allen key, I will be able to fold them down. Apart from that, I fancy the shroud which covers the void between the headlight and speedo. I have a Speedo Angels TFT anti Glare screen protector which needs fitting. When/if someone comes up with a tail tidy, I would like one of those. The brake and clutch might be similar to the Himi 450, but I can’t see any adjustable levers for those yet either. That’ll do for now 😂
Coming back down towards the lake reminds me of when i stopped in one of those little lay-bys so i could get a picture of the lake. It was a roasting hot day, i put the side stand down but forgot to leave it in 1st. The tarmac had softened and the bike toppled over pinning me against the grass copse. Cars stopped because they thought I'd crashed but all i needed was someone to get the bike off me. Very embarrassing and i always now make sure i leave it parked in 1st gear.
Awesome Ian what a place to ride no shortage idiots though as ever why folks don't find their own lane enough and need the whole road I do not know ! it's not like they are even going that fast just in a world of their own I guess . Not sure why you would cover the armco with wood it's still gonna do a world of damage if you hit it, I guess it must just be more aesthetically pleasing good watch cheers 👌👍
Thanks Mal. I think the rather expensive wood addition is to make it blend in with the environment. It’ll cost someone’s insurance company an arm and a leg to replace if they scratch it though 😳🙄. I really don’t know what the driver was doing, he had just pulled out of a lay-by, so should have been in full concentration mode. Muppet 🤬
Hmm, it rides ok at low revs, but you also need to be in a low gear. It has a very revvy nature, so not ideal for plodding around in my opinion. Maybe one of the 350’s would suit you better. They are happiest at lower revs, in higher gears. Hope this helps.
Thanks. Yes I have a 24 bullet 350 that I thoroughly enjoy and was hoping to find a larger displacement version of it in engine character to replace my MG V7 Stone which vibrates like a paint shaker. I will always keep my trusty 350.

Do Brit bikers no longer greet each other on the road? In my younger days in the UK we never passed one another without a wave of acknowledgement to fellow bikers. We do it here in Denmark.
