Nux's final "Witness me" wasn't that of a glory cry, as he and the other war boys did in the beginning of the film. It was his way of saying farewell to that red-headed girl, and wishing her the best.
His entire story is about his way to valhalla and the reason why he changed sides was because his last chance to join valhalla was gone (according to him). It had nothing to do with the redheaded girl altho she was important to him, it was still just his last chance to go to valhalla and he needed a witness to his great deed. Its a far more selfish yet a far more important goodbye, than "farewall and wish you the best"
2:28 That fucking music. The same piece of music when Nux first witnessed the gigastorm swallowing a car, when he exclaimed "What a day, what a lovely day!" The same music when he was "blessed" by Immortan Joe. We all know what he had to do when this moment came. He toppled a tyrant and saved innocent lives. He finally got his wish. He died historic on the fury road.
Wow. I listen to this soundtrack a lot and never made the connections necessary to realize that that cue only plays for Nux's attempts at glory. I always just thought it was a cool cue. Great catch.
And in Valhalla, he shall be welcomed. He shall enter Odin's hall to the Valkyries' songs and the cheering of his einherjar brothers and sisters. For he died a truly honorable death, the death of a true warrior-so that his enemies may be taken down with him, and those he loved may carry on in his memory.

Your comment makes me feel all kinds of feelings. Just wish Nux didn't have to go down. Would have loved to see where his character arc could have lead.
I think alot of people are not realizing as soon Nux heard that he was dead, his entire belief system shattered. He was raised as a pup to believe Joe was truly immortal. When he chose to stay in the car, he knew there wasnt vallhalla waiting for him. He died for the people he cared for.

Even if they had gotten Nux across, he would have soon died from his neck tumors. This way he not only got a historic death on the fury road, but he actually sacrificed his life for something that mattered. Had he not flipped the rig, the war party would have caught them at the citadel and killed them, and a new despot would have taken over. Nux's sacrifice made it so the Citadel could become a new green place of hope. So in my mind, Joe is dead and in hell, while Nux is one who truly earned his place in Valhalla.
@@d4rkpr1nc39 Immortan Joe was a survivor of the pre-war world, he knew about some of its mythologies. I love how, even as Ricktus ( Nathan Jones ) rips the engine apart. Nux is amazed by his strength, the glory of the scene before him. Even as its something thats working against him now. He can't help it. Neither can Ricktus. They both want the glory because thats all there is. Theres so little hope all you can do is hope to die gloriously and be witnessed. Ironicly enough it was Nux that Witnessed for Ricktus. Man sooo much drama is wrapped up in this movie for me. Yet its such a silly and insane plot. I love this movie.
The Wives are great too, in their understanding of how War Boys work. Capable realizes that Nux is not attached to the idea of Joe so much as he is to wanting to die well, and she gives that to him. He thinks it's partially his fault that Angharad died, but at least he can save the rest of the Wives from the Bullet Farmer. He gets to drive the War Rig; he gets their support. They keep their hands on his shoulder when he drives and they trust him to take them home like a War Boy should. And at the end, Capable Witnesses for him. Also, Toast grabbing the rifle from the others and reloading it with a look of "how do you not know this, it's like y'all have never lived in a post-apocalyptic wasteland before," will forever be hilarious.
The great thing is that in their moments, their respective cries are on opposite ends of the spectrum. Rictus dies witnessed by Nux... who will take it to his grave. Nux is witnessed by survivors, thus his story lives on.

0:23 love that sequence, Furiosa is losing her fight to that another Imperator and meanwhile Max is getting his ass kicked by Rictus. Then, they get help from Nux and that Vuvalini and both of them are able to get the upper hand over their respective opponents. All that happens simultaneously with camera shooting between Max and Furiosa. George Miller really outdid himself with this movie
Exactly. Our heros aren’t invincible, still very much human. Like you pointed out, they both would have died there if it hadn’t been for the intervention of others. Hands down one of the best movies ever made in a long time.
I love the attention they gave to minor characters. Between 0:42 and 0:45 they give the old lady like additional half a second of screen time for her to nod her head like she was thinking "well, I could have made a better shot". And notice that the drums sync perfectly with her tilts too. :)
Man I had no idea what i was in for when I first watched this movie. I had never seen the other Mad Max movies. It was such a crazy surprise and what a ride seeing it in theaters. When this scene happened I cried like a baby in the theater. His desire to do something remarkable, the failed attempts, everything about his reality. He lived so truthfully to his beliefs. I was on the same boat as you. Never heard of the mad max movies and my friend wanted to see it so I went with him. I was so blown away this is one of my all time favorite movies!
the time they spent was enough to have 2 choices at one's hands. Do I want us both to live and we both equally die. Or do I take a noble stand, holding them off so that many will benefit for the passing of one whom thought it worthy.
@Jaryan Zinck the director said it was to hint at her unexplained backstory. the shared history they have that we aren’t privy to. your interpretation is good too though! funny how things can be taken differently based on what punctuation is used.
The fact the one Warboy who truly died a legendary hero’s death was the one who believed there’d be no Valhalla waiting for him is completely heartbreaking.
That last shot of everything flying towards the camera to take advantage of the 3D format is literally the only shot in the entire movie that did not age well.
Poor Nux In less than 3 minutes his entire life ideology destroyed and his love gone before his eyes. “He’s dead!!” The look at his eyes... At that moment “witness me” wasn’t to be recognized by his peers. But by his love as he sacrificed himself for something and someone else that wasn’t a false ideology.
@@joebombero1 this right here. to be fair, War Boys are basically raised never to hesitate to pull such a move, so to him, it probably wasn't such a big deal (even considering his having switched sides).
There is something magical about how the music changes from orchestra to Viking chant, right as the mountain collapses. And then the wheel of the War Rig flies at the screen. That could not be better directed.
So Rictus is trying to get to the other car, Nux hits the brakes to avoid that. Rictus “solution” was ripping the engine off the rig instead of going after Nux??🤔🤔
I cried like a baby when he died. To see a grunt selflessly sacrifice himself was absolutely beautiful and a death any warrior like himself could hope for.

Hands down one of the best movies ever made in a long time.
why does the music go with the action so well
Because it the same guy who made the need for speed game soundtracks

and they purposely synced the music with the fights and actions. Beautiful.
I cry when I hear him say this 1:48. He knows what he has to do, so unselfish
I wonder what Rictus was thinking as his head plowed into the sand.
Probably nothing as usual
RICTUS
Absolutely nothing, there wasn't much in there to begin with, he was 7ft tall and uber strong though!
I love the attention they gave to minor characters. Between 0:42 and 0:45 they give the old lady like additional half a second of screen time for her to nod her head like she was thinking "well, I could have made a better shot". And notice that the drums sync perfectly with her tilts too. :)
Yes! Love this detail. This film does a great job of letting every character be nuanced without monologuing about it.
when he pulled that supercharger off..this is quality
@Website guy Safe to say he's all brawn, no brain.
@@00vondough00 Rictus is strong... And that's about it.
2:33 you have to be impressed by how strong that big guy is
Indeed, though those engines do get bashed around as well and are likely not that well fixed by the end
Greatest stunt work of the last 20 years.
At the very end his character arc completes so thoroughly it is beyond poetic. One of my favorite characters ever.
I was on the same boat as you. Never heard of the mad max movies and my friend wanted to see it so I went with him. I was so blown away this is one of my all time favorite movies!
2:37 The moment you wish you were as cool as that guy.
I wouldn't call him cool, he's literally a grown manchild
WITNESS ME.....that made me cry. They shoulda had some time together 😔😢❤
the time they spent was enough to have 2 choices at one's hands. Do I want us both to live and we both equally die. Or do I take a noble stand, holding them off so that many will benefit for the passing of one whom thought it worthy.
💔
3:16 Did anyone else notice the arch above the road shattering and falling on the overturn vehicles.
Vean Studio They are not Russian bikers. The buzzards are Russian.
And they only blew a bit of it off.
well now i did
Immotal Joe's army do that they clear rock and follow Joe before Joe climb first
My question. Do the bikers pickup and reset the rocks after every use? Seemed like that pass was cleared after the earlier rock drop.
Demetri Blackheart Nux may still be alive Because it only shows The crash
Nux, you have been witnessed across the screen, by more people, than you could have ever hoped for.
He says it to all of us...
Witnessed Nux. Witnessed.
Every week or so I have to come back and watch this quarter hour of masterfully spectacular action
Nux looking innocent .........😥😥.....Real Hero.
Noooo Nux 😭😭
He said his name was Elks. I think Nux is the guy on the car Elks was driving in the first chase scene.
Then again the say his name is Nux on the wiki and everything, so maybe he was just lying?
RogueDivinity_ - they didn’t show him die but did show the crash and he would beed transport he had killed all the warboys for his love 💕
Digganob no switch I have watched mad max since 1986
Digganob I thought I was the only one who heard “elks” when Nux said his name but it’s definitely Nux lol
Riding eternal, shiny and chrome. True warrior of Valhalla, Nux of the Fury Road
1:03 remember me?? loved that part
Jheison Mansilla I thought she was saying it as in “never forget who I am” (the one who’d finally kill him)
@Jaryan Zinck the director said it was to hint at her unexplained backstory. the shared history they have that we aren’t privy to. your interpretation is good too though! funny how things can be taken differently based on what punctuation is used.
Jheison Mansilla
Colonel Joe Moore murdered Furiosa’s Parents and took her from her home.
Aka Immortal Joe
Immortan Joe just got terminated LOL XD
nux is the star of the movie. this actor did a fantastic job with the transformation of nux from a war boy into a human being.
2:56 R.I.P Nux and War rig
And rictus
@@abdulrahmanhawarneh1605 Nah man frick rictus
@@RealGoober7865 are you excited for the new mad max movie
The fact the one Warboy who truly died a legendary hero’s death was the one who believed there’d be no Valhalla waiting for him is completely heartbreaking.
That last shot of everything flying towards the camera to take advantage of the 3D format is literally the only shot in the entire movie that did not age well.
I think it’s what they call...... *mediocre* .
Probably studio-mandated.
Rip my favourite vehicle ever.
Lewded 002 THE WAR RIG 😢
After seeing the Interceptor flip over twice in one movie, no car death could get me as emotional
The final "Witness Me" was to all of us.
@@joebombero1 this right here. The director isn’t really known for incorporating fourth wall stuff but that particular scene is not just him telling her to be his witness (and remember him) but it really also looks as if he’s asking the rest of us to be his witnesses as well.
May you ride eternal, Nux, all shiny and chrome.
What an an awesome film

Why nobody talkin about my guy who pulled a damn engine out a big rig
Nux has earned his place of glory on the roads of Valhalla, shiny and chrome
he even got a Valkyrie to carry him there
1000 years later archeologist find out those wrecks, what they never find out is the epic story and sacrifice that was happened there
I saw that scene in the theaters were Rictus tore the damn engine out, and I think the whole audience just shuddered. I just thought, HOLY S--T. Damn, that was a good movie.
Girl : I can't believe he didn't cry during titanic! , Do men even have feelings?
Boy : watching Nux said "witness me" with a broken heart....
Both is better ;p
RIP War Rig, gone but never forgotten
2:45
This movie will always be my favorite
When Nux said "witness me" he really said "remember me".
The way he sacrificed himself that is worth more than anything he is truly honored to the end
This is one of the best movie I even saw in the last 25 years 😎😘
The poor war rig... SHE DIDN'T DESERVE THAT. And yes. For me that machine was as much of a character as any of the cast.
0:43 Hardy: Yeah man I know how it feels.
bane
Rictus lifting the engine and screaming while on fire still gives me goosebumps like the first time I watched this
2:36 = volume all the way up
The cinematography, the music, the acting... this movie is perfect.
Fury Road is maybe the greatest action movie of the 2010's, and I'm sure it will be watched by the next, and the next generation, just like the original Terminator.
2:33 THE ULTIMATE RAGE QUIT
It is amazing that he doesnt even waste a second. He just goes full heroic. Once he sees what is happening he knows what he has to do.
to be fair, War Boys are basically raised never to hesitate to pull such a move, so to him, it probably wasn't such a big deal (even considering his having switched sides).
There is something magical about how the music changes from orchestra to Viking chant, right as the mountain collapses. And then the wheel of the War Rig flies at the screen. That could not be better directed.
Max and nux performed extreme in this movie.WITNESS ME slogan for heart touching
Warner Bros need to rerelease this yearly
So Rictus is trying to get to the other car, Nux hits the brakes to avoid that. Rictus “solution” was ripping the engine off the rig instead of going after Nux??🤔🤔
That's not Engine. That's super charger
Yeah he's pretty stupid if you already didn't know
Look he was never the brightest bulb in the garage.
You're asking a 7ft baby to make intellectual decisions?
This is a re-edit that beats the original. Good job Good Sir!
Fun Fact: Notice how the rock formation they pass through looks like gates, the gates of Valhalla. When Nux Died?
George Miller is fucking genius
Rictus ripping the supercharger off the engine was next level
I like how Rictus rips the supercharger off and just stands there shouting his name instead of trying to stop Nux
Probably knows there's nothing else left; and is too busy basking in the "glory"
He’s like a Pokémon in that they say their name for communication
When all 5 brain cells firing at once on a 7ft beast this is what tends to come out.
1:04 "If I take off this mask, will you die? "
"It will be extremely painful"
"So be it"
Witnessed Nux! Witnessed🙏🏻 Shiny & Chrome!
The guitar at the end 👌 Masterpiece.
0:12 max: hay big guy bring it!
Gets grab by the face
R.I.P The War Rig
The mad max time line
Mad max
Mad max road warrior
Mad max beyond thunderdome
Mad max the game
Mad max fury road
As far as the story goes, I thought I heard mention somewhere that the movie's story takes place between Road warrior and Thunderdome.
DMM Tech
Nope 👎, Warner Bros and George Miller confirmed that timeline is *canon*
There is a comic explaining the timeline between Fury Road and Thunderdome,it also shows the war rig's origins too
Bane Vs Bigger Bane!! Both ferals! 😂😂😂❤❤❤❤
1:08 BRUTALITY!!!
2:54 They left us nothing. Nothing. Why do we have to right their wrongs? Sometimes, one must be sacrificed for the good of many. - 1, 9 (2009)
I like that nod at 0:42 "Good enough"
I cried like a baby when he died. To see a grunt selflessly sacrifice himself was absolutely beautiful and a death any warrior like himself could hope for.
Craziest movie i ever seen..super movie..George miller is genius 😘😘
Music makes things even better. There can't be Epic scene without Epic music
