I love how Max and Furiosa dont talk to each other at all. They know they drill. They say everything that needs to be said with their looks to take out the bikers. Amazing scene!
You know this was made by someone with love and respect for vehicles. The war rig is just as much of a character as the people. Every gear change, every growl her V8s make and the part where the fire is put out - absolutely amazing. It's like the truck is a beast that takes a deep breath while in a fight. She gets air through the standard intakes, but at wide open throttle, the supercharger inlet is fully open, letting that 2000hp beast roar and give it all she's got! That right there is something every carguy will not only appreciate, but feel deeply. We know how much work goes into our prides of joy. This is one that lives a very harsh life in the wasteland and that deep breath transforms machine into living character.
The only problem is if there was a fire under that hood dirt wouldn’t have put it out along with that shovel maneuver dumping tons of sand into the air intake that thing would’ve stalled or died a while ago not live through that bs
The movie drew a lot of inspiration from Moby Dick - shockingly - and the War Rig is characterised as the great whale throughout the film. The gasping breaths of the supercharges. The inexorable power of it. The fact that that it is repeatedly attacked with harpoons. And when it eventually dies, the sound designers mixed actual whale noises into the audio...

You can most clearly see this with the bikers jumping over the war rig. @@zelkuta It's funny you say that because there has been a trend when it comes to music and scores for films (especially blockbusters) when it's easier to have a composer make music that is 'like' something else. There are 23 movies and maybe the Avengers theme is the only one that really stands out. Junkie XL actually uses the film in his songs, so much so that what you think is a sound effect in the movie may just be the musical mix taking over for that part of the movie, like water, the Doof, etc. "Water" has a constant hiss underlying the entire beginning of the track, mimicking the water flowing through the hose that Max is so desperate to drink from. When Furiosa charges him it breaks into drums and drums only for the entire fight, in rhythm to the dance they're performing through hand-to-hand combat. The pacing, the breaks, the staccato, all of it changes as the fight complicates with Nux and the wives. This song/scene, "Brothers in Arms", begins with the decelerating glitch sound as Furiosa has the "oh shit" moment that kicks off do-or-die for everyone involved. It moves to predictable drums as the rig picks up speed, it's weak when not moving. Strings enter the fray when the first biker slides to Furiosa's legs, they're played to wail a bit as they plummet in pitch, to induce a sense of panic. She kicks him free, the next beat is by a digital horn, it actually mimics a rig horn (like the water through the hose earlier), the beast is catching its stride. Max and Furiosa are in shit now though, the bikers are in pursuit and Joe is over the pass. The first horn blare sounds as the first biker launches off his ramp, the second horn blare goes off as the bomb does on the rig, the third horn blare comes as the next bomb hits the rig, the fourth horn blare couples the next bomb going off as Furiosa shoots that rider off his bike! Once Furiosa and Max exchange looks at 2:15 she almost breaks into a smile after - like she knows she *finally* has a partner again, just like Praetorian Jack.
I love the little details in this movie, like the extra block of wood on Furiosa's SKS so that she can grip it with her mechanical hand. It shows how much thought went into all of the sets and props.
The war rig catching on fire was just such a hype moment in theaters. I was watching it and thought "If they're smart, they'll lower the dozer blade and let the sand extinguish the fire." And then they did! Normally I don't clap in theatres, this was an exception.

When he hands her the shot gun and they share that look for a second and the quick cuts and close ups that George Miller is known for. With that awesome score? Man! What a movie and experience! I almost jumped outta my seat cheering.
2:12 on there is no dialogue, great decision here. And i love how the music goes from threatening suspense to hopeful by the end, incredible work of art on every aspect of the film.
Seriously, this movie is perfect. All scenes give me goosebumps. Cinematography, music, acting, plot, creativity are second to none. The best action movie since The Matrix, and by a long distance.
The first time I saw the part where dust covers the truck to put the fire out, then the intake takes a huge "breath" after I remember realizing that this movie is BRILLIANT.
This movie does not have a single bad shot, the music is wild and the editing is insane. Most deserved Oscar for editing. What a ride. Still one of the best and fun movies ever made IMO.
Good Heavens, the Sound Mixing is perfect! Its the little things, like the groan and air intake of the rig sounding like a wounded and recovered animal.
Holy moly the way the truck was shut down by fire and then the sand fills it and turn the fire off to let regain its breath and speed makes it the most beautiful scene
The opening shot of this scene is so great. Furiosa framed behind a skeleton arm pointing forward, basically telling the audience that the future is dead, and that only the dead are going forward. Then Furiosa opening the door and the audience is suddenly reminded she's half dead already and has a literal mechanical/skeleton arm. So much information in such a simple shot, and you didn't even notice it. But your brain did.
I wouldn’t AT ALL ever say that Furiosa was EVER “half dead” in ANY way as she was ALWAYS very much alive in ever scene in this movie as she’s in action with her goals and with Max by her side! Furthest thing from even “half dead” on ANY way, truly!
I’ve watched this movie a dozen times now and this part is my absolute favorite, Brothers in Arms truly was the perfect soundtrack for the scene. Now I can’t wait for Furiosa to come out.
The thing I like about that shot is the symbolic set up, with this tiny rusted VW in the the lower right corner, while the monster truck rolls down towards it.
Best picture of 2015 imho. I will never stop giving this movie its props. And what makes this scene so incredible is knowing that Tom and Charlize actually hated each other during production, but their chemistry here is so undeniable.
fun fact - the ending of this scene represents Max and Furiosa's upbringings. Max handles the glock the way a cop would - firing multiple times at each target; and Furiosa has the Many Mothers/Vuvalini motto of "one man, one bullet" for saving bullets and being precise, which we don't learn until later
Since 3:30 to 3:49 secs - It's so epic scene !!! my admiring !!! When the blade hits the ground and the huge heavy truck wrapping in the dust clouds!!! Excellent sound (!) - This is fading low frequency rumble.. And especially cool moment is the opening of the throttle valves !!! I can feel the monster truck getting breath deeeeeply!!! Great job of the production movie team !!! Well done !!! The soundtrack is Superb!!!
Saw this in 3d when it first came out. Was hungover as shit, had a big greasy ass breakfast with a ton of coffee. Perfectly fucked up for one HELL of a ride.

Still blows my mind how unbelievably gorgeous this movie looks and how incredible it sounds George Miller in his 70s directs a film to perfection perfect steady wide shots some of the best stunts you'll see on film the dirt bikes riding on the ridge looks so badass
Anyone could make a low bugget movie lol madmax was mostly made with beer 🍺 lol
This is by far the best action scene of the 2010's if not the whole 2000's the music, the action, the acting, everything about this is a perfect build of tension, pace and action that hasn't been topped, it's all brilliant!!!
Best movie I have seen, especially in theatres, in over a decade!
The war rig taking a well deserved breath is one of my favorite small moments of this absolutely massive film
Every shot in this movie is god damn art
Indeed this movie is a gem 💎
When i watched this movie for the first time i didn't like it but after watching several times i perceived this movie is just incredible but don't know why this movie didn't performed well al the box?🤔 office 🤔
@@yezdanishareef5116 everyone can't afford diamonds ❤️❤️❤️
3:30 onwards and that moment the inlet valves open up gives me shivers.
@@dawn-blade it was shut, you can see it before it breathes
@@dawn-blade there are filters inside engines that keep dust and dirt away. But damn it would suck so bad to clean these filters after the scenes.
One of the best action scenes in cinema history. Period
This movie is awesome I could watch it a hundred times and won't get tired of it.
james Darko me too I wish I saw it in theaters and I wish I owned it

Furiosa stole the show...
Same
Ya
Sameee bro
Not just the best action film of the decade but probably the best film of the decade. It is PERFECT.
this movie rocks!!!! 10 nominations 6 oscars WELL DESERVED!!!!!!
JOHN GERSON should have won best picture to be honest. Wasn’t ‘Oscar-Baity’ enough
@@TheJarman9 I was shocked it was nominated. Dont get me wrong, I love this movie, this is my favorite scene of the decade.
@@TheJarman9 Honestly, it shoud have. Revenant is a good picture, but Miller's masterpiece is passing through time better.
Best part is Tom reloading the gun and passing it to Furiosa, with the soundtrack
Am glad someone feels how I felt too that’s the best part 😢❤ for me as well
2:14 - That look is the best.
Furiosa: (thinking) "Don't say it."
Max: (thinking) "I told you that was going to happen."
Nice observation
No, she gives him that look because she was surprised he gave her a gun. Up to that point max didn't trust her
@@apastalic Exactly. It's that precise moment when their dynamic changed from foes to allies.
Yeah trust earns trust. She trusted him with the war rig, he trusted her to have the gun. She trusted him with her life and so he trusted her with his. Beautifully said in so little to no words.
I still don't understand what happened why did they start shooting Furiosa
Just coming here to remind myself how good this film was after furiosa
Once Furiosa and Max exchange looks at 2:15 she almost breaks into a smile after - like she knows she *finally* has a partner again, just like Praetorian Jack.
This movie makes all the fast and furious movies look like teletubbies 😂
Not 5
I love the little details in this movie, like the extra block of wood on Furiosa's SKS so that she can grip it with her mechanical hand. It shows how much thought went into all of the sets and props.
Makes me sad that Fast and the Furious 9 or whatever made a billion and this movie struggled to get to $300m…
I can't believe this sh*t. I had to check. You are right. Extremely sad. :C
@@PepeTheFren and Furiosa is struggling now even harder. General audiences have brains the size of a peanut and have terrible taste.
this movie was so good i watched it saturday and after that i watched furiosa the same day it was good but some little errors in the story
Be proud, because it shows you belong to the minority of smarter audience. The masses are often unintelligent.
Wtf! Nd sadly same happened with furiosa..
The war rig catching on fire was just such a hype moment in theaters. I was watching it and thought "If they're smart, they'll lower the dozer blade and let the sand extinguish the fire." And then they did! Normally I don't clap in theatres, this was an exception.
Only douche bag clap in threatres.
@@challenger516 Read the last sentence again, oh wise one.
@@TheSixthDoctor I read it correctly and you did clap for once, still a douch bag

Clapping in a theatre because your prediction came true is definitely douche behaviour
Goerge Miller you shall ride eternal, shiny, and chrome! What .. a ... masterpiece this movie is!
Undoubtedly ❤️
I really love the shot at 3:26, her pregnant belly with the bullet shells falling on it. It's symbolic of their struggle to survive and preserve life in the wasteland, versus all of the death and carnage that's chasing them. So good!
I didn't catch that the first time around. Excellent. Thanks.
Represents how everyone is already in a fight for survival before they've even gasped their first breath.
@@tempota7792 Also later on one of the women refer to bullets as a death seed. So you have the seeds of death inter mixing with the seed of life.
Never noticed that
Good eye 😊
best scene the bikers driving on the ridge is a sick shot
Everything about this film was pro.
There is not a single not-sick shot in this entire movie
? Just like a movie about a penguin
A very close second is the shot where all the bikers are jumping over the Rig and dropping shit on it.
One thing i dont see enough people talk about is how quick the truck moved after Furiosa called fool. Despite not seeing what was going down Max was 100% locked in and knew exactly what was going on. Dudes instincts are as crazy as his gun skills.
Best action sequence of this decade, at least.
Of this millennium, at least
Century at least!!
It's crazy how they instantly became a machine. They both knew what to do.
The editing and music are SUBLIME, feels like you're there.

I love how they balanced Furiosa and Max without one overshadowing the other.
The fact that these cars were actually build and we're functional is amazing!!
I got a little emotional when I saw this for the first time with my brother. We’re in our 30’s now and have families. We grew up watching Mad Max. We had low expectations and we’re just blown away.
2:50 me and the boys heading to watch this movie in theaters
Am right behind ya 💭🏍️
This movie got a lot of credit for its soundtrack and somehow its still underrated
One of the greatest movies ever made
Yes I agree ❤❤
Yes I agree ❤
Greatest chase scene in all of movie history. The music, the props, the stunts. 10/10
3:35
The way war rig pulled in the air after that sand bath...
Goosebumps 🔥🥺
Seriously, this movie is perfect. All scenes give me goosebumps. Cinematography, music, acting, plot, creativity are second to none. The best action movie since The Matrix, and by a long distance.
This is one of the best action movies in the world hands down
What I love about Max and Furiosa is that they don't need to talk. They just work together so well.
The music here is perfect. The timing and sound of opening the air intakes is so good
Just like happy feet.
🤣🤣🤣
i know you're joking, but it is kind of interesting how both happy feet and mad max are set in tundras/deserts with a focus on the characters
Yeah, especially the penguin with the flamethrower guitar. So awesome!

IKR ?!
3:47 That twin supercharged V8 takes a D E E P breath ❤
The first time I saw the part where dust covers the truck to put the fire out, then the intake takes a huge "breath" after I remember realizing that this movie is BRILLIANT.
I knew it was brilliant from the first chase into the dust storm lol.
0:41, I just love how they appear out of the rocks like lurking jackals in the sahara. 10/10 for the thematics of this amazing film.
3:12....that music tho!! 😍😎
The giant engine gasping for air at 3:49 accompanied with the epic music is so awesome...truly a tiny, few seconds long piece of art!....
This movie does not have a single bad shot, the music is wild and the editing is insane. Most deserved Oscar for editing. What a ride. Still one of the best and fun movies ever made IMO.
I get chills everytime in this movie... it really knows how to grab the audience
I watched 2hrs of driving one way and back the other, never once felt bored.
I had completely forgotten how bombastic this film is! Thanks for the upload!
You don't know what bombastic means do you
Nope...and the same can be said for 220 other people. 😆
People say they want movies like this and then don’t bother watching them.
Fury Road is fucking incredible.
My nephew fell asleep half way watching the last Jedi, so I show him this film instead, he finished it with eyes wide open lol
Wasan S. I don’t blame him
The Last Jedi was a load of crap. However, this film is an outstanding action film. Gets it right in every way.
Wasan S. You’re nephew has taste
Your nephew will be a War Boy.
Whooooo I almost thought you said *Return* of the Jedi and I was about to go ham lmaoo
Tom Hardy has more talent then any actor of his day. Hopefully they will consider him for 007.
although my money is on Idris Elba I would not complain seeing Tom in the role.
And splinter cell as Sam fisher
Dude always got weird masks slapped on him
This movie is filled with some of the greatest action scenes ever filmed.
It's definitely one of the best reboots ever
I’ve watched this movie a dozen times now and this part is my absolute favorite, Brothers in Arms truly was the perfect soundtrack for the scene. Now I can’t wait for Furiosa to come out.
Witnessed Furiosa last week it was as shiny as chrome and sensational
This movie is such a masterpiece
Saw this in theaters. One of the greatest action movies of all time. I think this could be considered the Terminator 2 of the 2010s.

Absolute masterpiece, one of the best scenes in cinema history.
Love how the soundtrack starts dreadful but it keeps sounding more hopeful as the track goes on, you can really hear it when they put off the flames
The shot of Immortan Joe making this insane climb with his monster car and than the zoom onto his face is my favorite moment of the movie.
The thing I like about that shot is the symbolic set up, with this tiny rusted VW in the the lower right corner, while the monster truck rolls down towards it.
Also did it in furiosa! Dementus Chris Hemsworth.
Incredible cinematography. You can watch this movie a good 4-5 times and notice something new every time.
The teamwork here between Max & Furiosa is just masterpiece!
Dude! Junkie XL did a stunning job here. Awesome OST, cast and directing. One of the epic movies of this century 👌🏻
At 3:49 when super charger starts to breathe, that's 100% satisfaction moment of this sequence.
When it all comes to the end, Max always remembers what he is. A survivor, a protector.
Bro how do I possibly love this even more a decade later?
Saw this in 3d when it first came out. Was hungover as shit, had a big greasy ass breakfast with a ton of coffee.
Perfectly fucked up for one HELL of a ride.
Glad to see everything isn't cgi. Everytime I watch this movie it's like the first time the amount of detail that went into this movie is insane. No wonder it took 15 years to shoot
