Nux's character arc was absolutely classic.

@Shocks From Beyond your smoking crack too 😂😂😂
In the end, he did get his wish to drive the War Rig. Drove that thing straight to the gates of Valhalla
And in Valhalla, he shall be welcomed. He shall enter Odin's hall to the Valkyries' songs and the cheering of his einherjar brothers and sisters. For he died a truly honorable death, the death of a true warrior-so that his enemies may be taken down with him, and those he loved may carry on in his memory.
He wanted to die historic on the fury road, and he did
Valhalla doesn't exist
@@dieanotherdaydefender7938 OH COME ON😒😒😒😒

Nux didn't need Immortan Joe to get to Valhalla. He needed a Valkyrie.
Idk why your comment is legitimately so perfect...but it also makes me think of Ragnar's speech from Vikings saying that he welcomes the Valkyries who summon him home.
I truly think he did need a true Valkyrie (the wife) to show him what it really means to be a hero or witnessed.
Your comment is epic.
Your comment makes me feel all kinds of feelings. Just wish Nux didn't have to go down. Would have loved to see where his character arc could have lead.
epic comment moment
Wow that made me legit tear up a pit
I think alot of people are not realizing as soon Nux heard that he was dead, his entire belief system shattered. He was raised as a pup to believe Joe was truly immortal. When he chose to stay in the car, he knew there wasnt vallhalla waiting for him. He died for the people he cared for.
that's silly. His belief in vallhalla has nothing to do with joe. He didn't suddenly turn into an atheist at the end.
@@coletrainhetrick It has EVERYTHING to do with it.
You've been raised your entire life to believe in a immortal figure, that talks of a place after death that he personally will bring you to.
If Imortan Joe died, than most definitely everything he told was a lie, and Nux realised that there was no Valhalla or rebirth waiting for him since the guy that was gonna give him rebirth is fucking dead.
@@theiridiumgamer5225 You're like a flat earther, cherry picking data that suits your own predetermined thought rather than looking at actual common sense.
If a dude claimed he was jesus resurrected and it was proven he's full of shit, that doesn't suddenly cause them to not be christian.
My roommate is Mormon and despite proving that joseph Smith is a fucking lying nut job and that he was full of shit, guess what, he's still Mormon.
So calm down bitch. Accept the L rather than whining as if you know what you were talking about.
@@coletrainhetrick How about you just let someone have their own theory about a character in a movie. Ever considered that?
@@coletrainhetrick What are you taking about!? Ofc it has everything to do with it... And your Jesus analogy fails because of this, Inmortan Joe is not "claiming to be" the resurrection of an already existing deity, HE is the deity because HE is the Inmortan One... Like, it's in the fucking name?? So yeah, if the "Inmortan God" that has promessed you eternal life died right in front of your very eyes, I'd guess you'd immediately realize "yeaaah, maybe that was all a bunch of shit" like Nux did... And if you didn't well, then frankly you'd be a fucking idiot. Everyone's is entitled to their own opinion tho, but stop lecturing the guy about it, specially if your opinion happens to be wrong lol.
2:28 That fucking music. The same piece of music when Nux first witnessed the gigastorm swallowing a car, when he exclaimed "What a day, what a lovely day!" The same music when he was "blessed" by Immortan Joe. We all know what he had to do when this moment came.
He toppled a tyrant and saved innocent lives. He finally got his wish. He died historic on the fury road.
Wow. I listen to this soundtrack a lot and never made the connections necessary to realize that that cue only plays for Nux's attempts at glory. I always just thought it was a cool cue. Great catch.
whats the name of the soundtrack?

he had it in him to make it epic lol
3:07 I love how the crashing rig sounds like a lion letting out its final roar.
OH dude I can totally hear that now. Great ears you have!
They used slowed-down bear roars for that! Miller wanted the War-Rig to be animalistic so he used whale and bear noises.
@@RobertMitchellX That is so cool! for real

One thing I love here is that after Nux says, "Witness me," rather than Capable screaming, "WITNESS!," like a War Boy, she makes a gesture symbolizing that she's taking his soul with her. To me it feels like a way better alternative.
Much better.... A beautiful yet very short love story.. ❤
I think the gesture is more like "I'll remember you" kind of thing, as it's toward her heart
Its the same gesture of the Many Mothers after Furiosa told them she passed away. Loved that small yet powerful detail
Capable's gesture was the same that the Many Mothers did earlier for their fallen compatriots
the look of Nux really saddened me.he truly died historic on the fury road...🔥💯
Sofiul Sekh shiny and chrome
and he will be awaitet in vallhalla
Witness him
I witnessed, :'(
Sofiul Sekh yeah he may not be dead never know it didn’t show him die but did show the crash
I'm sorry, but those last two lines are just too damn perfect! That initial "witness me," by Nux, specifically pointing at the girl, where that line has completely changed meaning for him. It's no longer about him martyring himself so much as it is about him asking her to remember him. It's contrasted perfectly with that "Witness me!" by the bad dude, who's still imbued with this rage, and this desire to martyr himself in hope of reaching the afterlife.
Paul Sullivan Well said
Wait does rictus say witness or his own name?
Drexif I think he says his own name
Even the way he said "witness me" was a complete contrast. A soft and gentle whisper compared to a loud and enraged tone.
yes...nux died as a more of human being.
Witness me... That moment when you realize the most important half of your heart is inside another person's chest and no one is going to stop you from saving that half, no matter what society, ideology, or others say. Inside that chest you will really live forever.
He live, he die, he live again.
Oh man, that was deep af.
That's beautifully said.
Some people really do blend into each other and after the one has died, a small portion of the one continues to live in the other.
Even if they had gotten Nux across, he would have soon died from his neck tumors. This way he not only got a historic death on the fury road, but he actually sacrificed his life for something that mattered. Had he not flipped the rig, the war party would have caught them at the citadel and killed them, and a new despot would have taken over. Nux's sacrifice made it so the Citadel could become a new green place of hope. So in my mind, Joe is dead and in hell, while Nux is one who truly earned his place in Valhalla.
Is Valhalla a mad max thing or is this a deserted norse realm?
Could be both I suppose.
You are a bloody legend
Thanks for explaining it to us, I wouldn’t have got it without you
@@d4rkpr1nc39 Immortan Joe was a survivor of the pre-war world, he knew about some of its mythologies. As he rose in power after the world ended, he began to corral some of the youth of the wasteland under his banner, using old world myths and terminologies in a chimeric blend to form a psuedo-cult based around him, giving them images of an afterlife -- this one being Valhalla -- to ensure that they act fanatically loyal to him under the promise of achieving a glorious afterlife beyond even painful death.

One of my favorite scenes in this whole movie still is Furiosa ripping off Joe’s jaw. It’s so fast and you hardly see anything of it, but somehow that makes it feel even more brutal.
I still have no idea how it even happened. Was the mask so fused to his head that the speed didn't give enough time to unclamp? Did one of her mechanical fingers catch him?
@@gloria7324 When the harpoon hooked the mask, it didn't just grab the mask itself. The harpoon edge literally hooked up his very jaw. So the mask clamping or unclamping had little to do with it. She just jammed it into his mouth and the chain just.... ripped it off.
“I know a really good plastic surgeon in Bel Air. Want his number, Joe?”

@@joebombero1 You could have bought it (literally) a while ago
Not as unpopular as you might think.
I love how, even as Ricktus ( Nathan Jones ) rips the engine apart. Nux is amazed by his strength, the glory of the scene before him. Even as its something thats working against him now. He can't help it. Neither can Ricktus. They both want the glory because thats all there is. Theres so little hope all you can do is hope to die gloriously and be witnessed. Ironicly enough it was Nux that Witnessed for Ricktus. Man sooo much drama is wrapped up in this movie for me. Yet its such a silly and insane plot. I love this movie.
The Wives are great too, in their understanding of how War Boys work. Capable realizes that Nux is not attached to the idea of Joe so much as he is to wanting to die well, and she gives that to him. He thinks it's partially his fault that Angharad died, but at least he can save the rest of the Wives from the Bullet Farmer. He gets to drive the War Rig; he gets their support. They keep their hands on his shoulder when he drives and they trust him to take them home like a War Boy should. And at the end, Capable Witnesses for him.
Also, Toast grabbing the rifle from the others and reloading it with a look of "how do you not know this, it's like y'all have never lived in a post-apocalyptic wasteland before," will forever be hilarious.
I loved how Nux's final "Witness Me" was directed to all of us.
The great thing is that in their moments, their respective cries are on opposite ends of the spectrum. Rictus dies witnessed by Nux... who will take it to his grave. Nux is witnessed by survivors, thus his story lives on.
Furiosa, Sarah Connor, Ellen Ripley and Brienne of Tarth. Four female fighters I can REALLY get behind in cinema.

RICTUS
Absolutely nothing, there wasn't much in there to begin with, he was 7ft tall and uber strong though!
This movie is so much better than it had any right to be. I was iffy about watching it despite everyone talking about how great it was. I'm happy to announce that my doubts were unfounded and this is now one of my all time favorite action movies!
You should've watched it in theater, I probably breathed once a minute only..masterpiece..

And he could've had a much better ending himself
Where girls cry: titanic
Where boys cry: mw 2 betrayal
Where men cry: 2:42
0:23 love that sequence, Furiosa is losing her fight to that another Imperator and meanwhile Max is getting his ass kicked by Rictus. Then, they get help from Nux and that Vuvalini and both of them are able to get the upper hand over their respective opponents. All that happens simultaneously with camera shooting between Max and Furiosa. George Miller really outdid himself with this movie
Exactly. Our heros aren’t invincible, still very much human. Like you pointed out, they both would have died there if it hadn’t been for the intervention of others. Hands down one of the best movies ever made in a long time.
I cry when I hear him say this 1:48. He knows what he has to do, so unselfish

I love the attention they gave to minor characters. Between 0:42 and 0:45 they give the old lady like additional half a second of screen time for her to nod her head like she was thinking "well, I could have made a better shot". And notice that the drums sync perfectly with her tilts too. :)

Man I had no idea what i was in for when I first watched this movie. I had never seen the other Mad Max movies. It was such a crazy surprise and what a ride seeing it in theaters. When this scene happened I cried like a baby in the theater. His desire to do something remarkable, the failed attempts, everything about his reality. He lived so truthfully to his beliefs. At the very end his character arc completes so thoroughly it is beyond poetic. One of my favorite characters ever.

George Miller is fucking genius
Witnessed Nux! Witnessed🙏🏻 Shiny & Chrome!
It is amazing that he doesnt even waste a second. He just goes full heroic. Once he sees what is happening he knows what he has to do.
to be fair, War Boys are basically raised never to hesitate to pull such a move, so to him, it probably wasn't such a big deal (even considering his having switched sides).
The poor war rig... SHE DIDN'T DESERVE THAT. And yes. For me that machine was as much of a character as any of the cast.
I like how Rictus rips the supercharger off and just stands there shouting his name instead of trying to stop Nux
Probably knows there's nothing else left; and is too busy basking in the "glory"
He’s like a Pokémon in that they say their name for communication
When all 5 brain cells firing at once on a 7ft beast this is what tends to come out.
There is something magical about how the music changes from orchestra to Viking chant, right as the mountain collapses. And then the wheel of the War Rig flies at the screen. That could not be better directed.
Fury Road is maybe the greatest action movie of the 2010's, and I'm sure it will be watched by the next, and the next generation, just like the original Terminator.
2:36 = volume all the way up
His sacrifice was great but how badass would it have been to see Nux walk away from that.
Since we are getting another movie in this universe I believe that nux is coming back because this doesn’t look like that fatal of a Crash

At first I thought that the guys stuck behind the rolled War Rig could just turn back and go around the wall of mountains. But since the destroyed big rig was probably their primary source of fuel, they probably wouldn't have had enough to go back, around, and then to the Citadel, since the Valkyrie said that it would take two weeks to skirt the wall of mountains. With no escape from the pass except on foot, I'm sure the bikers killed and plundered the remaining forces. The shot of them reacting to the People Eater's vehicle exploding was probably meant to hint at this.
