    What's funny about having really curly hair is that when you straighten it and go to school everyone asks you if it's real or extensions and you have to explain how curly hair works

    This made me want to straighten my hair! But I am so scared of heat damage. I haven't straightened my hair in two years and in that time I grew it from shoulder to waist length. Congrats on 50K!!!

    • @Jewellianna
      @Jewellianna  8 лет назад +25

      +MissJoi100 I completely understand... that's ALWAYS a fear of mine when I straighten my hair. Unfortunately, the only way to 100% prevent heat damage is to abstain from using heat. And thank you so much girly! I appreciate it :)

    • @joiwade_
      @joiwade_ 8 лет назад +4

      Of course! The last time I had my hair straight I suffered massive heat damage, because of the stylists poor methods, that made me look like I had a perm!! This is why I stopped and it took about a year to revert back without mini chopping/big chopping.

      @Janetfanumba1 8 лет назад +56

      That's because most black girls "in America" has damaged permed hair. And they don't take care of it. I am transitioning as well. At this point my hair is medium /shoulder length. And I am 9 months natural. I still haven't cut my relaxed ends off. I'll do it sometime when my new growth Is at least passed shoulder length. Ughh i can't wait for my hair to get like this to prove non-blacks that black girls hair can grow very long as well. And Never perm nor wear weave ever again. But my own natural hair!

    • @destanis2187
      @destanis2187 8 лет назад

      +Mosaic cc I just hit six months, I have layers to my shoulders.

    • @Janetfanumba1
      @Janetfanumba1 8 лет назад +16

      Destani Johnson now. I will be completely honest here. I seen a LOT of black girls with natural hair growing it out. Which is nice. Because they don't have permed hair anymore. But if you look at the percentage or the majority. Most have permed hair and wear weave ALL THE TIME.

    your hair is my goals for sure!! tip for when you straighten your hair in the future is that you should bump or slightly curl your ends w/ the flat iron so that your ends are more protected, unless you don't like that look then by all means continue rocking your hair that way. :) much loveeeee.

    the trick is to put the round brush on top of the hair and wrap it once while you blow dry. And instead of keeping the blow dryer perpendicular to the hair move it parallel to your hair facing down. gives you a smoother result because you lay down the cuticle of the hair.

      Thanks so much love! And no, not recently. The shape looks different curly vs straight because I have sooooo many different types of curls of my head and they all shrink up differently and are different sizes. (The curls in the back shrink up triple the amount as the curls at the front). Curly hair is just an illusion! lol

    Btw, a great tip to get curly hair stretched out even easier when blow drying hair is put in before blow dry product, section out hair into at least four seconds, braid in the sections, brush & smooth the edges, and either sit under the hair dryer on med-high setting for at least 15-30 minutes or air dry it for at least a couple of hours or overnight; Consider trying that out. I'm a licensed hair stylist btw😃

    Nikki Watson, you can say that again, Lady. It is SO refreshing!!! Be ourSELVES!!! Being ourselves and loving our true selves is crucial.
    Oprah once asked a question, "If you could have ANYTHING you wanted...one thing...what would it be?" One person said a million dollars. Another said a mansion.
    She got to another lady. That lady said she wants to love HERSELF! When you love yourself, you take great care of yourself. That's being yourself. In return, your body takes care of you. Your real inner beauty shines through. You become a better "you" than you ever thought possible.
    I'm so glad Nikki that I saw your comment. Thank you for your words.

    Your healthy and thick, you must have haters telling you its fake even though you actually showed all your scalp. You Tubers are some of the most hating arse people there are when it comes to black women with healthy natural long hair. Your hair reminds me of Kenya Moors hair.

I do have plans to straighten my hair for the Christmas holidays but dang, watching this video made me want to wash my hair and straighten it out. Thanks for posting and I'll have to give PYT products a try.

    round brushes are used to style hair and it takes a while to learn to use them correctly. If you would have used it correctly you wouldn't have needed to flat iron your hair at all. You basically got results of using a comb attachment. I work in a salon with mostly coarse curly hair. You could've saved a bunch of time. Also I was taught using anything like a comb or brush is not how you get hair silky straight. Its the tension used and your partings. It took me 6 months in beauty school to learn how to save time with a simple blow dry shampoo and flat iron. Looks good tho.

    • @Jewellianna
      @Jewellianna  8 лет назад +5

      +AirriBaybe When I use a comb attachment, my hair doesn't get ANYWHERE near this stretched out. And the tension method/ best partings ever would never on this earth get my super thick and curly hair to be 'silky straight'. lol I used the blow dryer on medium heat (and I'm not a professional and have never been to beauty school). So I'm not going to get the really straight results of professional salon stylists who generally use heat that's as hot as a flat iron.

      @kaycutie1 8 лет назад +1

      +JeweJewe Bee New subscriber here! I have been natural for over 20 years and throughout that time have seen many stylists. The best stylists by far have always used a run brush to straighten. Ir is better on the hair. Those who use a comb attachment do so to save time and get more clients in the chair.

I'm glad I have someone who share's the experience with me💯👌🏽❤️💋🙌🏾😜😘😘

      Jewellianna Palencia Since you have not trimmed it have you experienced any unusual breakage? Or do you keep your hair really moisturized so it doesn't happen? (Sorry if this sounds rude, I'm really curious)

    Great straightening tutorial! Beautiful hair & results! I would love to have my hair blow dried with a round brush because I love the results I've seen on those with hair similar to mine (my hair is similar to yours too). Is the tourmaline flat iron best for my 3c fine stranded medium density hair?

  • @Hannah-zw9ow

    If you go over a section a lot on medium heat, it's going to damage your hair just as much as if you went over it a little on high heat... A lot of lighter heat is just as bad as a little heavy heat

    It was cute in the big puff. You can rock that as well. So now you have three ways of wearing your hair. haha Once I reach my hair length goal I might try for the straight. As you know the biggest fear is having to chop your hair once again for heat damage so I guess that is what scares me. When I do get there, I shall follow these tips. I did everything wrong. Again and again GORGEOUS hair!

    your hair is gorgeous! just a tip.. you should try a comb nozzle for your dryer. You should never use bristle brushes on wet African American hair. Also you don't need so much product on your hair before and during flat ironing. It is really weighing down your hair and it's making your hair look really dry.

    • @MyBloomingLife
      @MyBloomingLife 8 лет назад +7

      +MyBloomingLife then she can comb out her hair before she uses the comb nozzle and it won't get stuck. I'm pretty sure that comment was for her not you. Thank you and stop trolling.
