Awesome tutorial! I'd love to learn advanced camera moves like the one you showed in the last example. I took your 3D class on Skillshare, which really helped demystify a lot of the 3D options for me. But the 3D controls in AE have changed so much since you filmed the course, it would be fantastic to see a tutorial dedicated to moving a camera through a scene (or multiple scenes) in an interesting way using motion paths, velocity changes, etc. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge with the community!

Thanks a lot!! I struggle with the issue a couple of times, I used unnecessary precomps, nulls, double layers, cause I thought I would loose the easing using a hold frame. Now I see how you can do it.
I would be nice having a 3D tutorial explaining how you made that last scene ;)

It would be great if you could explain the types of color spaces on AE, what is a workspace color space, what is linearize, how do we work in different scenarios etc.

Been a trouble for me to learn ever since I started using AE and boi was I glad to finally understand it! Funny, I have been only turning the keyframe interpolation back to linear to solve that problem...so thank you for sharing the knowledge.

I've been looking for a solution to this all day. Moving and pausing an object on motion path yet the paused motion is moving all over the place. I knew it was something to do with the spatial interpolation yet other videos didn't quite cover exactly what I needed. Within the first forty seconds of your video I had solved the issue. Thanks man, appreciate your work.

a thing that i like to do (that removes the need of temporal and spatial easing) is just making linear keyframes (and spatial) and just apply the smooth expression
i dont have much control tho, but it looks very nice.

    As always, excellent work.
Here's something I'd like to learn more about. Is this too much of a deep dive though?
It's related to this video because I have developed the habit of separating all my dimensions to avoid this error. "array piece can't expand to more than one value".
I just tried to recreate it simply with x = thisComp.width; [x,value, value] . I'm perplexed. My x variable is one value, and it is in the spot in the final array for one value. I don't understand why that doesn't work, which tells me I'm misunderstanding something fundamental about how this works.
And then sometimes a different expression (which seems fundamentally the same to me) ends up working.

Still does not get why it drift? What happens in the spatial interpolation that makes it do that?
Also have a question regarding the 3d camera. When you fly your camera around and always changing the position, you will have to reposition every 3d layer you bring into the comp, how do you work around that?

    • @JakeInMotion
      @JakeInMotion  Год назад +1

The drift comes from After Effects automatically adding in bezier handles to the motion path for that keyframe. Since both keyframes have identical position values, the bezier handles make the interpolated frames move away from that position.
As for the 3D scene, I just have two comp views open at the same time. One for the active camera and one for another view like "Top". That way I can pan around, zoom in and out and reposition things from another angle.

    • @Abdo.A

      @@JakeInMotion Thanks for explaning.
For the 3d part, I meant to ask if there is a way to place your 3d objects in the new 3d camera position where you point of interset is looking now? Coz other wise you will have to reposition every layer in 3d to get in the right place.

    • @JakeInMotion

You can always copy the point of interest value and paste it on the position of the layer you're placing.
