  • In this episode I have to deal with a cow that has been continuously escaping from the winter pasture in a way you might not expect. As I find her replacement at the home ranch I decide to go ahead and separate this years steers as well. If you like working cows, feeding cows and tractors, this will be right up your alley!

We have cattle guards across major roads up here, especially in the National Forests. Some of the newer “cattle guards” are just painted on the road; alternating black and white stripes. Doesn’t sound like that would work to well for your cow! Haha!

We had a cow with a small group of calves that had that cattle guard figured out too! Our problem was that when they got over the tracks (jumping them! ) they would end up on the train tracks that are heavily used. Cow vs. trains are not something you want for sure. They ended up going back to a lower pasture area. LOL!
