The reason I like Tyler's vlog, is that you get to see all the things involved in running a ranch. The good & the nots so nice. Just the way real farm life is. Most of the people who didn't stay to watch this video, are the ones who can't face life's problems. I realize there were those who just couldn't watch, and I understand that, but for those that will complain or nit pick, go watch a cooking show, we'll all be better off! I’m a 71 year old country girl. Raised on a farm in Illinois. (Live in Oklahoma now)You did a great job, no criticism here. Saving the animal is paramount for alot of reasons. That calf was gone yesterday. I know as sure as I’m sitting here some people are griping about calling the vet.
He/She would have done what you did. So the outcome is the same except you saved a few hours of suffering for the cow. Good job and God bless you for the hard work and care you put into your animals. You got some healthy happy looking kiddos too. That’s great!

I watched "Cross Timbers Bison". This happened to one of his female buffalo. Where she had a leg sticken out. But couldnt deliver the calf. By the time he noticed a leg sticking out. He called the vet. The vet informed him. He needed to get the calf out asap. Or the momma would die. He got the momma buffalo in the chute. He reached to grab the leg to pull. But the calf was in advanced decomp. The smell was awful. Hed walked away gagging and throwing up. It fell apart on him. He got the leg out and some other parts. He ended up giving the momma large dose of antibiotics and meds to trigger her to expel the calf out. She cant be bred again because of all that. I think what you did Tyler was the right decision.

A friend of mine went through a similar situation but the vet did that pull, 3-days after he called! In that time he had two other pulls he did himself both successful with one alive and one not. He has downsized his herd now for a few years but at that time he had over a hundred head. That vet never came back and he had to find another. Even when you call a vet, you don’t know how good they are. He also ended up losing the heifer from the vet pull.

Kudo’s to you for doing what needed to be done, doing it and then posting the video. You were even thoughtful enough to let folks know in advance that it would be difficult to watch (as you’ve done previously with abscesses). Anyone who has followed you for any length of time sees how much you care. When you stop to talk to or pet the dogs, when you bottle feed a calf, and lest we forget Buddy! Even your initial remark when the ordeal was over demonstrated your care when you said how sorry you were to the poor momma. I don’t profess to know a whole lot about what you do, but having been hanging around for 80+ years has taught me a few things about people, and you are definitely one of the good ones! Bless you and yours. ❤️🙏

We also use a block and tackle to help our cows deliver their calves and gently push down to minimize hip lock. You made the right choice to check this cow and acted immediately to save the cow. Raising beef cattle is not for the faint of heart, you have to endure a lot of sorrow along with the good times. I cry every time I lose a calf or a cow, I get over it in a couple of days but it hurts like hell when it happens. Thank you for sharing your genuine concern for your animals and keep up the good work! Cheers from Alberta, Canada!

Nice to see a Rancher that is willing to post things that don't always go right. While not a "failure" of yours for any reason the fact that you stuck with it and saved the Mom is honorable. Hopefully this was the "one off" and the remainder of your calving season goes smoothly. Sorry for the loss....even one is too many.

This has happened multiple times to every cow calf farmer in the world that has raised cattle long term. If you have them you'll eventually loose them weather you raise 1 or 10000. It's part of life and there's nothing you can do. Great video as always

Good job Tyler. It’s all part of the experience. I lost a calf a week ago. She spent to long in the birth canal and was oxygen deprived . We care about our animals and do the best we can do. I bought another bull from Jeremy that was older than our embryo transplants. We’re getting his calves now. I’m pleased with the results.

Thank you for sharing your lows as well as your highs. I come from a farming area in Southern Australia and have seen many cows having to have their calves "walked out". Sometimes the calf lived but most times they were dead. It's like with all lives you never know what you will be presented with. Your cow was lucky she had you as her owner, a kind and compassionate man.

Tyler your care for your animals absolutely goes above and beyond and you mind them so well. I mean obviously this is part of animal husbandry at any level. It sucks, but that's part of life, right? Thanks for sharing it.

Thank you for showing us real life on the farm. I think you did an amazing job ! It was so loving for your wife to come out and offer help. She is a true angel. Sorry about the calf and I hope momma is going to be alright. Question? Will she need antibiotics or maybe some painkillers to help her? Just interested in learning. Will she take a bottle calf maybe?
    Thanks

Well done Tyler! You did what anyone else would have had to do. There's no way that mamma cow could ever have delivered her baby when it's breech!! To relieve her pain had to feel so much better for her. I agree with you. Maybe having a vet come and check her might be a good thing to do if you feel she needs that.
I love your channel! Thank you for sharing!

I was deeply touched by this video Tyler. I am not a farmer/rancher and only know what I know from watching youtubers like yourself. However, I do know that life is what it is, and that we all face situations at times where we have to act, rightly or wrongly, based on the knowledge that we have at that time. Like you say 20/20 vision is a wonderful thing. I am sorry for you loss, but I am glad that you saved momma, and that you have that 'keep on going forward' attitude. All the very best and much love to you, your family, and your ranch.

There is always something new to learn when you have livestock. I appreciate ALL of your videos no matter what they are on. Everything can’t be pretty because thats not the way life is. You did what you had to do with what was left. You were professional and good to the momma cow. As farmers and ranchers we have to be prepared for anything. Good job, take the win and sleep well knowing you did the best you could.
