Hello Zane, a Filipino subscriber. I would like to thank you for appreciating my country and immersing yourself in our culture. Enjoy my country and the people! Also, you are sooo cute!
Binondo Chinatown was established in 1594, the OLDEST Chinatown in the world. It was also the Makati up until the late 60s when Makati, developed in the 50s, emerged as the first to be created a Corporate city in the ASEAN.
They are trying to redevelop Escolta, Binondo back into the posh area it was back in the 1960s. Unfortunately Escolta was abandoned in favor of Makati in the 1990s and the place slowly turned into a state of disrepair that it is today. The local government has a 15 year tax free incentive for someone who can fund the redevelopment. The plan was to turn Escolta into the Clark Quay (premium shopping and food area in Singapore) of the Philippines.
Growing up in the Philippines, I remember my oldies always telling us we should be friendly to neighboring countries, including the USA. My grandparents told me how the Americans helped us liberate Fron from the Japanese invasion, which I would be grateful forever. Ironically we are also had a good relationship with the Japanese. I guess Filipinos are always forgivable and never hide grudges in life. That's why we welcome everyone with open arms.
Unlike other Asian governments our old leaders did not brainwash us to hate on the Japanese in the media. I think the Christian belief of forgiveness also encompass the Filipino psyche.

About WW2, I think it's important to note that the Philippines weren't some far-flung country in the corner of Asia that out of nowhere, the US decided to liberate from Japanese invasion. The Philippines was part of the American commonwealth and sphere of influence. Not just pop culture and whatnot but literal part of American commonwealth much like how Puerto Rico is today. We flew the American flag above our own and we used the American dollar. The US is literally bound by law to defend the commonwealth. Of course I wasn't undermining the friendship that blossomed between these two countries. Just saying that not everything is as black and white as it seems, considering that the US invaded us first before the Japanese did. There's a reason why we speak English and not Spanish despite being part of the Spanish empire for three centuries.
THE AMERICAN NOT INVADED THE PHILIPPINES, WHEN THE SPANIARD DONE THEIR RULING THEY SOLD THE PHILIPPINES FOR 1 MILLIONS DOLLARS THATS HOW THE AMERICANS CAME TO THE Philippines AND Philippines Became US TERRITORY, ALONG WITH GUAM, AND PUERTO RICO, THEN THE AMERICAN GIVE THE Philippines BACK TO ITS PEOPLES IN JULY 1946 , THATS WHY WE CELEBRATE OUR INDEPENDENCE DAY …. ✌️✌️✌️🙌
@@tessmacgyver1023 not entirely true… Japan was in a war of conquest in China since 1937, but it realized they lacked the resources to conduct a longer protected war if they wanted to succeed. particularly, they needed oil. which can only be found in what was at the time the Dutch East Indies or Indonesia and Malaysia. so they decided to grab that as well considering that the Dutch were already in a war with Hitler. and knowing that the Dutch allies, Great Britain and the US will never let that happen, Japan decided to strike first and destroy british and america forces in the area, namely Malaya, Hong Kong and the Philippines. so yes, the philippines was technically dragged into the war but, even if the US forces were not there, and since the philippines was in the way of Indonesia, the same way Korea was in the way if china… Japan would have coerced whoever controlled the philippines into cooperation, by force or otherwise. it wouldn’t have mattered if the US or Spain or an independent government controlled the philippines… japanese presence would have been inevitable.

Thank you for correctly identifying BGC as METRO Manila (maybe put "Taguig" as well since BGC is not a real city by law). We need to promote correct geography with the increasing popularity of PHL. While you’re at it, you might want to consider going to the Market Market and also heard that they have a decent Street Food section open at night right there and also by the Venice Mall. Even from a native Filipino who frequently go to BGC to teach Tagalog to expats and meet with friends, this is an interesting video! :) Great to hear that you're enjoying (or "enjoyed") your stay in our country.
Try Clark Global City when it will be finish, its x47 bigger than BGC and more high tech savy city soon...it's still in construction to date...Most of the main buildings for our government will be relocating there also with some fast railway system... 😎
If you want to go to BGC though, pls note that it is NOT in Manila. It is in Taguig. Manila and Taguig are different cities but both are in METRO Manila which the old but still popular name of the NCR.
Greenbelt and Glorietta in makati are the best malls in Manila. I’be been in Glorietta and first time i have seen marble kind of floor in a mall. Nice and classy vibe kind of mall.

The hospitality of filipinos and the vibrant commercial center that BGC has developed into makes it a very vibrant place to hang out in. While you’re at it, you might want to consider going to the Market Market and also heard that they have a decent Street Food section open at night right there and also by the Venice Mall. Enjoy the rest of your trip and looking forward to your next video. 😊✌️
Even from a native Filipino who frequently go to BGC to teach Tagalog to expats and meet with friends, this is an interesting video! :)
Great to hear that you're enjoying (or "enjoyed") your stay in our country.
BGC resident here from Uptown, I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. :)
Don’t forget to visit Eastwood Manila too , and forth bonifacio
Otigas podium mall.....explore okada hotel and at night watch the water light show...
Try Clark Global City when it will be finish, its x47 bigger than BGC and more high tech savy city soon...it's still in construction to date...Most of the main buildings for our government will be relocating there also with some fast railway system... 😎
Talaga 47 times bigger?
Thanks for taking us to your journey, it's been a while since visited Manila. Looking forward to checking out BGC!
If you want to go to BGC though, pls note that it is NOT in Manila.
It is in Taguig. Manila and Taguig are different cities but both are in METRO Manila which the old but still popular name of the NCR.
Love your walking tour zane just continue exploring PH
Thank you for visiting our homeland.
Love your videos Zane. More power and subscribers!
There is a hidden tunnels in BGC. When I was a kid back in the 90’s we used to go there and play LOL
Thank you very much Zane have a nice day 👋👋👋
Beautiful manila

Enjoy Philippines! Im Filipino but never been in the center of BGC...nice...its like US or European style 👍🇵🇭🇧🇭
Greenbelt and Glorietta in makati are the best malls in Manila. I’be been in Glorietta and first time i have seen marble kind of floor in a mall. Nice and classy vibe kind of mall.
hey, zane, aren't you doing any more tarot reading? glad to see you doing traveling. good luck with your new adventure.
Joe, All the Best ❤
Actually, there are 2 American cemeteries in RP, this one in Taguig and the other lesser known Clark Cemetery. When the US left Clark Air Base because of Mount Pinatubo's eruption, they almost forgot the cemetery. It's fully rehabilitated now.
Thx... especially the cemetery. That friendship between the USA and the Philippines is still strong, facilitating the US's return to the PI and use of four military sites. Thx again for the vid.✌🏾 #thxJoe
dont forget to bring hanky /bandana with you ,when you travel ,if youre not doing it yet. thats a life saver for me ,if i have to wipe facial sweat, cover face with it ,when sneezing ,coughing in public etc .some Filipinos take wash cloth with them ,when theyre exposed to extreme heat.
The hospitality of filipinos and the vibrant commercial center that BGC has developed into makes it a very vibrant place to hang out in. Name it, you can have lunch or dinner with your family, do business meetings or have some drinks with your best buds. Just to share, BGC is currently the fastest developing area in Metro Manila. In just a span of a decade, it has surpassed Makati and might even take the title as the Business district of Manila.
It has already claimed title to being the financial district.
you are in the right place my friend!
BGC is One of a modern Central Business District of Manila enjoy And welcome to My country the Philippines 🇵🇭 sending support idol your friend here watching in Cebu city Philippines 🇵🇭 I hope oneday you visit Also Cebu a beautiful and modern City

I really miss your tarot readings. 99% of tarot readers on RUclips nowadays blabber things that don’t resonate / make sense. I hope you get back some day 🥹❤
Little tip from my filipina friend she taught me about smart and globe sims:
If you load and you do not select a plan they will put you on a per megabyte use and your load will be gone within a matter of hours, unless you selected the plan which has a set amount of data.
I lived BGC Taguig and I love everything coz of easy convenience pricey but its comfy to live with
Especially during night time

Nice video Zane. Some 5 years ago or so if I am not mistaken, a group of American Mormon missionaries became famous in the Philippines and they called themselve the Hey Joe Show. They recorded an album and it was a big hit.
i know exactly where you are. good video. It is very honorable that you showed the memorial.
