Manila has many rich and modern enclaves like Makati, Rockwell Center, BGC, Filinvest city, Araneta City, Ortigas Center, Eastwood city, Asiana city and many more upcoming developments like Bridgetowne, Parklinks, Arcovia, Vertis North and soon to rise little cities in the Bay area like Manila Horizon, Solar city, SM Reclamation, and a dozen more. It's beginning to realize what it's been called from the beginning - the Pearl of the Orient. 😊

It frustrates me that they still can’t get Aircon Control Vestibules correctly. In America any Mall would have two sets of tight-fitting doors per Entrance, so that the cooled or heated air doesn’t mix with outside air. It’s an Energy-Saving Law. As expensive as electricity is in the PH, you would think there would be more mandates for Energy Efficiency. Instead you get drafty malls with places that are either too warm or too cold,. Those Air Curtains where the guards post simply will not cut it.

16:00 - Sadly, there has always been a noticeably unequal distribution of wealth in PH. We have some of the richest in the world, but also some of the poorest. Has been that way since the Spanish times it seems when the colonizers took for themselves vast tracts of lands while the native Filipinos (who they derogatorily call "Indios") became like tenant farmers or slaves. Of course since then, there have been those who became wealthy through sheer hard work and just the knack for business, esp. Chinese immigrants like the Sy's and Gokongwei's for example. But the disparity between the rich and poor has sadly remained wide. Hopefully, with the rapid growth of the economy, more of the poor will cross over to middle-income status. 🙏

Thank you for your video footages, helps me keep updated what is around there. Usually when I do get to visit I can only go to Mega Mall, BGC area and my favorite flea market style in Greenhills.
It becomes more colorful as the Christmas season comes about, more festive decors and events in/around many malls.
I used to wonder before why they kept building huge malls, now I understand, helps spread it out so people will have shorter commute times, plus in the very humid weather, AC in the mall is a good relief. And people loves to eat..so always a good selection to find around.
There is indeed a big disparity in the income of many Philippine households, way too low wages..so it is so common to find a family member is working abroad, or maybe preparing to migrate permanently. But times are changing, hopefully something else improves. Always a great potential for our dear motherland.

    • @rm_alfaro
      @rm_alfaro 25 дней назад

It's because there are NO looting & brazen shoplifting/theft incidences happening in these Philippine malls unlike what's happening in the US right now. Actually, it's not just the malls that are closing but a lot of other business establishments have closed down in some parts of the US right now because of crime & homelessness. You won't believe how many empty stores, closed restaurants & other business establishments that have gone out of business in LA, San Francisco & NYC, etc. People in the US don't feel safe going to malls anymore so they just go online shopping. Sadly, small businesses in the US can't afford to pay their expensive rent/lease because they're not making big money so a lot of them are just opting to close down their business. Meanwhile, malls will continue to thrive in the Philippines because Filipinos love to hang out with friends & family and malls are pretty safe, fun & convenient place where people can gather and bond together while doing shopping, dining in restaurants & doing other fun & entertaining activities in these huge & beautiful malls.

Lol! Right on!!! I remember jogging with ex-president Ramos, taking my two sons trick or treating at Aga Muchlach’s house and bumping into celebrities grocery shopping at Makati supermarket. It was fun growing up in Ayala Alabang, something I will treasure forever! Oh and Big-bang is always a treat during the holidays, the giant slides, the toboggan ride, the giant maze and of course a drink or two from kampai! Man, those were the days! And remember when there was only twin cinema in ATC? Magnolia scooping station and the pancake house??? Now it’s a different story, every time I go home ATC just keeps getting better. Molito is a great place to try different restaurants & cafes. The part where Rustan’s lane used to be in Cuenca is now a Starbucks, can you believe that?! It’s just grown immensely but still a great neighborhood. Driving here in the states reminds me of those times when the security guards inside the village would pull me over for speeding and not doing a full stop on stop signs!!! If anything, I thank the discipline I learned there to apply here and observe stop signs, lol! Anyway, feels good to have someone with the same familiarity of the area, good times!

Alabang is still inside of the Metro, the Southern Metro Manila business district. Keep going Zane. Next, Araneta City, Greenfield District, Circuit Makati, or even the real outside of the Metro there in the southern part, the Nuvali District in Laguna

You missed the newer side of the mall and the Riverwalk of the mall between that main mall building and across to Landmark... You need not exit the mall but need to turn to one big corridor inside from the big carousel in the middle of the mall towards Landmark. Department store, supermarket, many al fresco restaurants in that area. You have to go back.

From Festival mall, drove down commerce Avenue with American sis-in-law. She saw a Philippine flag at Acacia Hotel and asked 'is that an embassy?' - Alabang made her forget she was in Manila 😅

You did not see the innermost of Alabang, the Ayala Alabang gated community where the country club is , or the other newer extremely private enclaves that are similar to Forbes Park in Makati and Westgrove in Silang Cavite, or Nuvali in Santa Rosa, Cabuyao, and Calamba, Laguna. What you saw was middle-class Alabang.

The ultra-rich live in Forbes Park in Makati. Many of those who could no longer afford living in Forbes Park moved to Ayala Alabang. Forbes Park as well as Ayala Alabang was developed by Ayala Land.

Oh you didn't find the man made lake inside the Landmark mall. The Festival mall is linked to Landmark mall and there is so much more to see in there because it's an open air mall with a manmade hill also.

Just watching your vlog I am missing home now. We live in Ayala Alabang. My parents are still there and my brothers and I are coming home this coming October to celebrate my mom’s 80th birthday. I am missing ATC and festival mall. Yup I grew up around that area. Truly is there no place like home. And yes I miss the house helps and drivers coz here in the US you have to do everything by yourself.😊

Can totally relate! Grew up in Ayala Alabang as well, but it was the time when ATC wasn’t as big as it is now. I remember when there was only the twin cinema, south supermarket and the makati supermarket came along later on. I left in 2002 when ATC had expanded moderately, but every time I go home it just got bigger and bigger. I mostly enjoyed molito because of the different restaurants. One thing though is that I noticed the festival mall became so crowded and not as nice as it used to. But you’re right about the house helps and drivers, that’s something I really miss! Here in the states we do everything for ourselves! Having said that, I still plan to retire there eventually. No place like home.

You have massive income disparity. Monopolistic companies owned by mostly Chinese native, who refuse to assimilate, accumulate wealth at the expense of inexpensive Filipino labor.
These firms are powerful and have massive resources to grease politicians well enough to maintain their status quo.
A labor union, which I'm not fond of because in the US it has taken on an entirely different mission, is needed to reset the balance from their Chinese monopolistic conglomerates.

Festival is a people’s mall where people from all walks of life go to. It is really big, and under renovation (at least part of it). If you want to see a really beautiful mall, go to Evia Lifestyle Center along Daang Hari - not too far from Festival.
