    On this day I had the pleasure of piloting my ZR1 to my first ever 200+ runs.. 4 over 200 actually. In this 2.7 mile run she gave me a 207.3. In the 2.3 mile run just before going to the 2.7 mile this same car ran 208.55. IMRA certified. So i think that is all she was gonna do on this day.. The weather conditions in the afternoon were temp mid 70s and the wind out of the east about 20 Knots. I know the conditions below state winds out of the north and we were running north to south so that should be a helping wind. When you watch the run stop the video when the Garmin hits 81 mph.. look at the wind sock on the left. For the afternoon runs, It was clearly a heavy cross wind out of the east. Speaking to the Organizer, he said for the 200 mph cars that was about a 4-5 mph penalty.. There was another 2019 ZR1 that ran on this day and his best mph was 204, so i think the cross winds hurt us both up top. All that said, it is hard to describe just how much of a gas it is to break 200 mph and join that select club.. My hat is off to Johnny Bohmer and his team. There were 16 cars that participated on this day in Feb. Everything was done in perfect order and very professional. I would go again at the drop of a hat.. Thanks JB for having the vision to organize this event, it is hugely popular with many folks out there.

      @brucemccartney5385 11 месяцев назад +4

      @@mr-sam-jax thank you. This car with 755 hp is pretty much limited to about 214 with all the aero devices it has on it and you will need favorable wind for that. The front splitter and rear wing make punching a hole in the air difficult. The car has the gear ratio to do it, just not the HP to hit 220 mph. I think it would take another 250 HP to pull the 7th gear to red line. BTW it shifted from sixth to seventh right at 200mph, 6500 rpm and only moved the needle 8 more mph. The RPM in 7th never got close to the next shift point. So the only way it's gonna pull 7th gear to red line is more HP.

      Interestingly, both John Lingenfelter and his test driver drove Lingenfelter's 2001 yellow Corvette C5 modified with a twin turbo setup to a top speed of 225 MPH. That car had "only" 572 horsepower at the wheel (about 640 engine horsepower). The C5 has a better coefficient of drag (cD) than the ZR1 and doesn't have the downforce add-ons (which hurt top speed) of the ZR1 and Porsche GT2, thus helping it to reach the higher top speed. That the GT2 was able to reach 219.7 with the significant drag of the big rear wing is remarkable.

    214 mph is not bad at all, but I would've expected a little more compared to the brick shaped Demon which was just 3 mph slower than this. Yes it has almost 100 hp more than the ZR1, but way worse aerodynamics.

      Yeah the ZR1's downforce aero affects it greatly. The base model C8 Stingray has a higher top speed than the Z51. At least that is what Chevy has claimed. But even that doesn't produce as much downforce as this ZR1.
