    3/4 of the comments are people whining that BJJ is a bad spectator sport. Meanwhile I'm thinking this match was totally lit compared to dozens and dozens of ADCC finals between 1997 - 2015. Anyone remember Sperry vs Liborio? The Submission-Only tournaments really opened up No-Gi offense and from what I see, ADCC matches are more submission oriented than ever before.

    • @laithalmasri6985
      @laithalmasri6985 3 года назад +2

      Points (Positive Points):
      Each position must be established for 3 seconds or more being out of any danger of submission in order for points to be awarded.
      Passing the guard = 3 points
      Knee on stomach = 2 points
      Mount position = 2 points
      Back mount with hooks = 3 points
      Takedown (ends Guard or Half Guard) = 2 points
      Clean Takedown (ends passed the guard) = 4 points
      Sweeps (ends Guard or Half Guard) = 2 points
      Clean Sweep (ends passed the guard) = 4 points
      Sweep is considered when two fighters are facing each other, change the position from bottom to top and establish it for 3 sec. or more.
      Reversals are considered Sweeps as well.
      When changing multiple positions, points will be awarded only for the position that has been established for 3 seconds or more.
      Every sweep has to be done in one continuous motion in order to be awarded with points.
      Points for a sweep will be awarded only if the fighter initiates the sweep, not if he is being attacked by his opponent and he ends up on top.
      When passing the guard going straight to mount or knee on the stomach in less than 3 seconds points will be given only for passing the guard.
      Penalties (Negative Points):
      When a fighter voluntarily jumps in the guard or goes from standing position to a non-standing position by any means and remains down for 3 seconds or more, he will be punished by a minus point.
      When a fighter disengages from contact and starts backing up and avoids engaging again he will be punished by minus point.
      A passive fighter will be warned twice and then will be punished by minus point. The referee will warn the passive player by the words "WARNING PASSIVITY" - after the first minus given there are not going to be any more warnings and the minus points will be given right-away if the fighter continues to be passive.
      If a fighter is very passive during the first half of the regular fights when there are no minuses, the referees will still give him WARNING for passivity and will punish him with a negative point when the second half of the fight starts!
      If two fighters (team-mates) make a fixed fight, they will both be disqualified from the tournament.

    • @kianbazarjani194
      @kianbazarjani194 2 года назад +9

      Uki waza. Note how before he attempted this technique, he tried a few sumi gaeshis (also using the guillotine) where he attempts to launch Keenan overhead in a linear direction.
      The sumi gaeshi has the downside that you land with your two bodies in a parallel position, where your hips are very far from your partner's hips. This allows your partner to (1) bring their knees into their chest and deny you hip-to-hip connection, with you'll need to finish your partner with a mounted guillotine, or even mount them to begin with, or (2) turn to their knees and start a scramble (we see the latter in this match).
      Contrast this with the final attempt at this sweep, where Gordon switches to an uki waza by using his left foot to block Keenan's leg as he sits to his left hip. Note that they now land with their bodies in a PERPENDICULAR position (rather than PARALLEL with the sumi gaeshi), where your hips are much closer to your partner's hips. This makes it much easier to chase your partner's hips and get that hip-to-hip connection. :)

    To think gordon is now fighting Andre galvo, who is Keenan's coach here

    How many years was Keenan at Atos? Was Galvao his head coach? He and Galvao really lacked synergy and Keenan probably did not and will never hit his potential as a result.

      I think you're right. Galvao is an old school teacher and Keenan had a hard time fitting in with his more open and experimental style. Incompatible.

    Keenan has the frame to hold more muscle and to ever truly compete for the overall he’s going to have to become more of a physical specimen along the lines of Gordon Ryan.
