  • I've been working on this build for a while now. The concept was to reuse designs from other builds to create something new. The central tower was reused from The Coal Tower from my first video and the smaller towers are taken from The Mausoleum.

  • @captain0106
    @captain0106 Год назад +1

    So, I watched the entire video, and I loved it. Build is amazing and all the things are just perfect. But the thing that impressed me the most is the experience of it. You know what is so special about movies like Avatar or Dune, they give us an experience. If you just listen to the story of them you might feel like, oh that's a good story but what's so special about it, but when you watch them in the theatre, You will experience something.
    Similarly, this video is giving the vibe of an experience. I'm a small youtuber just started uploading seriously for like 2 months, and I am learning this exact same thing. Even if you produce fewer videos, if your videos are providing an experience then you win because now there are sooo many people building almost the similar thing and you rarely see anything really really new. I am still in the process of this. I did some research and a few training on this as well where I'm using my videos as practical.
    Now what I "think" could be added here was, the "build timelapse" pace and "Build Showcase" pace were almost same. I mean there weren't any difference(Timelapse was perfect btw). But the Showcase could have been a little better, like some kind of trailer or maybe "The End" kinda thing. But, I am soooo much impressed by the outro(the way time passes and it becomes night). It's something that I have never seen. I might try this one in my videos if u dont mind lol.
    The Build was phenomenal and one of the best of this theme. Great work!
    yeah I am way too passionate about it! XD

    • @SixWings
      @SixWings  Год назад +1

      I love that you came away with that impression. I take my time in the editing room to make sure that the music matches what you see on screen as much as possible. Some of my more story focused videos are much more edit heavy in terms of sound effects and music, to give each scene the right atmosphere. The "showcase" part of this video ended up being more minimalist than usual to get it finished before the weekend ends. Usually my timelapse videos have an exploration section where my character discovers the build. 🙂

    The Emerald Cathedral -> there are no emeralds in the roofs and walls.

      Emerald only refers to the color. I was thinking about using emerald blocks, but the blocks I used look more like real life emerald so I used them instead. 🙂

    @sixwings: what's your process to a final design? Do you sketch out ideas or go straight creative? Obviously these video's are culmination of serious planning...can you elaborate?

    • @SixWings
      @SixWings  Год назад

      I will do a video on that at some point but in short. I start with a general idea that is sparked by something. Maybe a real life building, artwork, something from a video game etc. Then I open up a test world in Minecraft and start with some sort of central detail. A pillar, a section, a piece of wall. Depening on the build this can change. Then I extrapolate that detail and see what it looks like. Sometimes I have to make adjustments. Maybe it is bigger than I anticipated so I might start over with a smaller section/pillar/element. The point is, the level of detail defines the build.
      Most builders I've watched do it the other way around. They draw the outer frame first and then they detail the gaps afterwards. One method is not better than the other, just different approached.
      This particular build was designed by combining towers from two of my other builds, so the process was a little different here.

      @@SixWings Interesting...I work a similar way. Reference images are great inspirations. I find that your use of scale is much more dramatic than most people. I think that is what makes builds so much more interesting. Staying with the human scale in MC keeps the builds close to the ground. When you break that scale, the towering heights are what bring the wow factor.
      Do you use litematica or world edit or do you prefer just to free hand it?

    • @SixWings
      @SixWings  Год назад

      @@blacksheep_77 Haven't used Litematica but I use WorldEdit a lot in my test world. I've also used it in some of my videos but the later ones are mostly without. Yeah, I like having everything designed in human scale so to speak, so it's usable for a playthrough. The pixelart style you see a lot on Instagram where builds are much bigger is impressive, but that's not me.

      @blacksheep_77 Год назад

      @@SixWings Have to test out world edit. Just caught your first tutorial for this build...will enjoy seeing that unfold.
      Pixelart style...haven't seen that before. I think there is the fantasy level and there is this architectural scaling that you have found. I prefer yours. It's maintains a human connection so that one could still feel as though the building could actually exist. Standing in a real building that causes one to realize how small they are and how amazing the builder was to create such a thing is what brings the awe. Amazing that a game like Minecraft can allow almost anyone to create that same feeling with a well thought out design. Keep bringing the awe.

      @@blacksheep_77 Thank you! I'm really glad you like it.
      By pixelart, what I meant was the trend where people make very large builds that ignore scale, so you could have a house where the front door is 50 blocks tall. With that method you can basically make anything since you use blocks like very small pixels so to speak. People make some impressive builds that way but it is meant for the artistic result, not necessarily to play with. Pixelart is not really the right term but you get the point.

    As a huge architecture nerd from Russia - bravo to you! I kept trying to pinpoint the exact church this build reminded me of, but couldn't. I traveled my country a bit in the past, and have seen many buildings in this particular style, so i have definitely seen it before. As a wild guess - is this build inspired by The Church of Ilya the Prophet in Yaroslavl?

    • @SixWings
      @SixWings  Год назад

      Awesome! It was actually Church of the Savior of the Blood in Saint Petersburg that was the initial inspiration for the overall shape of the build, but other comments mention other buildings that are closer in terms of the colors used. I reused a lot of elements from my other builds so that probably sets it apart from many real life churches in Russia, but there're definitely similarities. I will check out the one you mentioned. 😊
      Edit: Just checked the church in Yaroslavl and I can definitely see some parallels to my build.
