- It's finally here! I did my first artist alley as a small business. Selling at an anime convention has been one of my dreams since I started my small business and I finally got to do it!
This was a huge step for my growing my small business and I got to see how much my small business has grown since my first market stall last year. I'm so glad I got to share this with you all, I hope you enjoy my first convention vlog!

Congrats on your success! 122 vendors to 600 attendees is rough odds
I'm glad you almost reached your goal! May I suggest that next time you have a list of the stuff you brought, and as you sell them, you can add a check mark next to it. That way, you don't have to write it down every time.
Good idea! Ahaha I'll definitely be upgrading my little notepad to something more organised and easy one day when I do bigger events and stuff, perhaps for the next convention 👀
@AbiNova I just love the phrase "work smarter, not harder" lol ... I do whatever I can to make things go easier for me. Again, glad you were so close to your goal!
i agree about the cutesy stuff. When i walked into a store and i see something cutesy I'm way more likely to go "awww i need that! it's so cute!" Trust your art and style it will set you apart from others. Plus it's a better use of your time since its working on your art
I sublimared my logo onto the front of my table cloth! Fed up with sign falling off! 😊
That's a really great idea! I might have to try that someday ahah!
Something I learned about what are the stuff that sell the most and are attractive to customers, is that they want to show to others what they like, I mean, a print can only be hung in their room and only themselves see it, but things like keychains, totes, pins, phone charms, etc. can be taken everywhere and be seen by more people and find people with similar interests
at least that’s my experience 🤠
The common opinion I find with the people I go to conventions with is that there are too many art prints to choose from and not enough space to put art up in their homes so they usually avoid it. I think things that can by used or worn are the things we prefer to go for because it feels like we get more use out of them. I still buy art prints from time to time, but I tend to only go for ones that fit my aesthetic perfectly. I am more likely to buy keychains, bags, shirts and stationary to name a few examples. However, the guys I know only buy things from the franchises they enjoy, but they also have to be quite cool looking products otherwise they aren't interested. I doubt they would be your target audience though, but the info might be helpful to anyone who has men as their target audience for their products 😂
So pleased that it went super well especially as you put in so much work!! So excited to see what your next convention display will look like - crazy to see it in comparison to your first market store. You are doing amazing 💘
Thank you so much! ☺️😊
For my banner I used bobby pins through the grommets to attach it to my table cloth and that worked really well for me
That's a great idea! I'll give that a go next time ahah
I am a little late, but I am so freaking happy for what you have accomplished! And considering it was a very slow convention, I am 100% sure you would have passed the 500£ mark if more people came.
Also, now you at least have an idea about what sells, so it will help you in your next conventions.
I was having a bad day, but as always, your vlogs and good vibes raise my spirit. Keep up the amazing work Abi!!!
Glad you were able to get you items made and that you had a good turn out
Congratulations on doing tour first ever convention
Your stall setup is amazing
Thank you!! 😊
It's so clear how far you have come with your stall and its displays! You should be REALLY proud of yourself...
Aw thank you! 😊
Congratulations on your first Artist Alley experience and sales! Welcome to us first timers club, haha! Thanks for the lovely share.
Not bad for a first convention ! excited for another con vlog in the summer!!^^
I’m happy your finding success at artist alley’s. I always thought your products were better suited for that path!!
That's awesome that you were successful at the convention! Idk if I would sell in person, it would remind me of being a cashier, but better because you can keep all the money from everything you sell...That is a good point to make about selling cute things, they do sell really well.
Sounds like your printer head might need to be cleaned. Had a similar problem with prints not printing red very well. Fixed it by cleaning the heads and it started printing again. Eco tanks are really good though. Highly recommend.
This is fascinating, thank you for taking us with you ☺☺☺
So glad I got to share it with you all 😊
So enjoyed this video and I'm super happy for you and how far your business has come!
Congrats on your first convention. Everything looked great!
I’m about to do my first larger size convention and I didn’t bring any prints besides postcard sized ones bc I noticed my prints didn’t sell at the smaller one I did. I was worried that was a mistake but hearing none of your nice prints sold makes me think that’s just what the trend is atm. I guess people can only have so many prints and places to put them right?
Hey Abi! stumbled on your vids today, and Im enjoying watching you grow, you are so down to earth and likeable :) I ended up on this video to see how your first artist alley went, since Ive only done one myself and I wanted to know if we had a similar experience, and I can't believe it but you happened to have tabled in the exact same place and day as me! we both had our first artist alleys at the same time! I wish I had more time to really explore the other booths, but I was a bit nervous and didn't give myself much chill time. I really Hope I can see you again at the more local cons, are you going to be doing chibi again in 2025?
There are super cheap runners to get your logo custom printed on! It would probably resolve your sign issue
Also just for future one thing that I saw was you didn’t fully clip your cubes together so be careful if you use your cubes as shelves if they aren’t locked together! I’ve seen a ton of displays tumble down because of it, especially since your display is top heavy with tote bags! Keep up the amazing work I can’t wait to see more ❤
New subscriber here! ✨️ Loved this vlog. Glad you did so well. I'm in the midst of trying to grow my small business and have signed up to 4 markets up to xmas. Super inspiring to see your work ❤
Yay glad it went well for you! For your banner maybe try double sided tape or velcro to help keep it straight. Great video
Velcro would be a great idea! Ahah
hello there, i know im late this vid was 8 months ago but i hope u had a great experience at a convention looking forward to supporting ur vlogs on youtube
Such a great setup! Hope to see you around the south someday 🥰🥰
I'm definately wanting to sell at a convention in London someday ahah so I will be travelling a bit for conventions around the UK!
There should be something in your software to clean your printer heads. That might solve your problem. Maybe explore more sublimation but don't get down. It's still early in the year. :)
i know this is old but check ur printer settings and make sure u have the right printer paper selected and try using different setting. sometimes ur computer or printer has an update and ur settings get reset.
Hi! I love this video! My friend and I want to start tabling and seeing your experience is so helpful.
When making the designs, do you draw in RGB or CMYK? My other friend says she draws in RGB and just hopes it looks okay when printed, and Procreate's CMYK feature isn't accurate. My friend already has a few print designs made but they are RGB, so we were going to ask the manufacturer if they can bring them decently and order example prints.
Thats all, thank you and congrats on your first artist alley!
I would draw in cmyk just to be safe as even if procreates settings aren’t perfectly accurate, it’s more likely that they will be closer to the final product than an rgb drawing will be. I know procreate also has multiple cymk settings so perhaps that might be something worth looking into.
@@surprisinglysam3728 thank you so much :)
Well done ❤
Great display!
Do you think that you may do conventions for now on
My Epson xp-970 also prints duller than it previously did from the same files. I think its an issue with that printer in general.
Where did you get your cubes? And did they come in other colors?
That's crazy to me as well about the prints. I would have thought they would be more popular!
I think it's just because they're very saturated and there were some AMAZING artists there selling prints ahah. It was a surprise but also a good learning curve!
Conversion rate aside, I'm curious about your pricing. I know card readers and such have % fees that are odd amounts, does pricing your things at 21.99 instead of 20 help round that or something?
Congratulations :)
Where was it ? What other Cons are you doing this year :)
your sign should be brigyter
Is this your first??
I hate when my printer goofs up too :
* brighter
I like you so I'm gonna ask a big favor of you please stop cursing yourself the things you speak over yourself manifest within everything that you do so if you don't believe then it won't happen you have to believe that you are capable of all things, because that is how you were made perfect everything you do is perfect you wouldn't be the person that you are if you didn't believe in yourself so stop speaking these things that are not of you over you.
