I feel like every Otakon artist vlog I've seen this year has had at least one item stolen from their booth. It's wild how one convention can have so much theft and pretty disappointing too.
theft is unfortunately a very common we face in artist alley 😔 we artists do what we can to deter people from stealing but it still occasionally happens. thankfully, the amount of kind attendees completely outweigh the few bad apples!
I agree! or maybe even making the default 2 badges per table purchase (which is typically the standard issued for AA vendors) 1 badge for that table price point felt kind of wild to me 🫣
This was the first video of yours I've watched, and seeing you trimming your bangs at the start rly got me... I knew the vibes were gonna be good... LOL very fun video, I'm glad it was a good con for you!
keepin it real w/ yall 🫣🤣 I never notice how long my bangs have gotten until it's poking me in the eyes for 8 hrs during con weekends LOL thanks for watching the video! 🥰
That really sucks about the theft. Like what is wrong with people stealing from small businesses and artists! It’s also odd they wouldn’t let your friend set up with you? But overall this looks like a really nice con. I live in New England and have considered applying to this. However, idk if I’d have enough stock! I’m still so small.
we'll never understand why people feel like it's alright to steal from small businesses ˙◠˙ but luckily, a majority of attendees at cons are super nice and supportive so they completely make up for the few bad apples! Otakon is definitely a larger convention! work on building up your catalog and hopefully you can attend someday! 😤best of luck on your journey and thanks for watching the video! 🙌
This was my first time watching your videos, I loved it so much! As an Artist based in the UK, its always so cool seeing what AA at conventions in the rest of the world is like! Cant wait to see more convention vlogs from you in the future!💜💜
My first real con was Otakon and I haven't been since 2016 so no idea what the new location is like. This is giving me all the feels, I miss Otakon so much. Im glad this con served you well and it was worth the trip across the country!!
This is the first vid I've seen of yours! The algorithm is getting me bc I'm thinking to sell at cons next year and I'm gathering *research* haha. Subscribinnnngggg. This video was so helpful. It was good to see what things people liked and what stuff you had in stock. Can't wait to see more of your videos! :)
Great video! One of the best Vlogs I’ve ever seen on anime / art conventions! Free advice- bring a friend to the next one - even just for your sanity or to allow you to use the restroom 😂- plus they can carry more stuff! Glad you did well!
Thanks for watching and concern! 😊 I’ve been doing this long enough to know that I can handle most events alone! and I’m lucky to have so many friends at AA who have my back! 🥰
Hi, loved the video! I found it very insightful. I have a question if you don't mind answering. I was here as an attendee this year and want to try to aim for a spot in artist alley next year. I was wondering whether booth/table sharing is exclusive to unlimited booths or if it's possible to do it with the other types of tables too? I checked the Artist Alley info and it just says it's possible to table share with one other artist but I'm not exactly sure if it applies to all tables or just the Unlimited Booth you mentioned.
I love how organized you are! I was wondering, what do you use to organize your pins and charms? I struggle a lot to get my stuff organized ;-; Also, glad I got to see you at Otakon! :D
having an organized storage system helps me maintain some semblance of sanity during a con 😅 all the containers for my pins + charms are from the Container Store! they're a mix of containers from the ArtBin brand and 4x6 photo storage containers 😊
How do you go to the rest room when you solo a con?? There are times when I where I want to try solo, but my only issue is leaving my booth unattended while I relieve myself 😭
Going to the restroom is such a valid concern when doing a con solo 😭 I am lucky to have made many friends in the artist alley realm so I usually know at least one person at a con that can spare me their helper to watch my table as I run to the restroom 🥺 If I don't know anyone at a con, I will ask my table neighbor if they can keep an eye out for me. And then do the world's quickest speed walk to the restroom 😵💫
@@drawnbyivy Omg thank you for replying!! I've always wanted to try soloing but restroom breaks were literally the only thing stopping me! I appreciate you replying ❤ I love your content! It gets me hyped for cons!!
Im just starting my journey with artist alley and hotspot is my biggest stressor followed by inventory 😂 May I ask if you let people know about sales tax when they're paying, or do you just eat up the cost?
hotspot issues is def a biggest stressor during events 😭 sales tax is paid by the customers! i set it to whatever the rate is for the city i'm vending in. similarly to how people anticipate paying sales tax on anything purchased in their day to day life, it's the same when buying from artists at conventions! i also say something along the lines of "your total after tax is $__" so they're not surprised when the final cost is a bit more than the base price of the item(s) 😊
At the Canadian cons Ive tabled at Ive never had an issue of not being allowed someone to help me set up. That seems pretty unreasonably strict to me :/
That much for an artist booth?!?!?!? THAT is why artists don't want to do convention work anymore. Back when i started, it was $75 tops for a booth at a con, no electricity options included. You can earn $75 back. But THAT much??? You're not making it back. You're working for a loss.
the price of artist alley tables have definitely seen an exponential increase throughout the recent years 😔 unfortunately there's nothing much we can do about it though ˙◠˙
it was definitely much cheaper during the pre covid years. but we have definitely seen an exponential increase in the cost of artist alley tables over the recent years 😔
I had to check the date of this video as I thought it was during the pandemic. Why the mask? To each there own but I would avoid the booth with someone who's sick...
@@SeanO711 I was completely healthy during this event 😊 I personally prefer to mask up during conventions to reduce the risk of getting sick. I travel a lot for back to back events so taking extra precautions to keep myself healthy 🙂
Mid-Con hair cut is CRAZZYYY 🤣🤣

Thanks for coming to Otakon. I stopped by and got a pin from you on Saturday.
thanks for dropping by my table and supporting! hope to be back next year! 🤞
Hey!another ivy! Love your art lol❤🎉
hi fellow ivy! thanks for watching the video 🥰 😊
I LOVE cats and would 10000% approve of cat stickers or photocards!
noted 👀 🐱
It had to be either a staffer or someone tabling at the con. Either way you have to be the lowest of the low to steal from a small artist
regardless of who it was, stealing from artists at cons is def a big ick 😔
I am excited to finally meet you at MegaCon 2025! You been an inspiration! 😁
@@DefensorArtz ahhh super excited to be attending megacon this year!! please feel free to swing by and say hi 🥰

@drawnbyivy we can boycott going to artist alleys, but then the AI nuts will swoop in.
The cost of a table and badge in america is so high compared to japan... I'm so shocked how much they steal from creators

Aw I just found your channel but I remember your table from AnimeNYC. I regret not buying the OP tote 🥲
hope you had a fun time at ANYC! hope I can come back this year 👀
