Which Sony did you have? I have the a7iv and I’ve been considering returning it for the canon simply for speed and the acclaimed rolling shutter with a7iv.
Hey Manny, love your stuff, as always. Just wanted to point out (if it hasn't been done so already) that with Electronic Shutter on the EOS R6 Mark II, you CAN get shutter speeds to 1/16,000th second, in Manual or shutter-priority (Tv) modes. The photographer has to set this him-/herself, and the jump from the normal top speed of 1/8000th sec in this case is a full-stop increment -- fractional 1/3 or 1/2 stops aren't available between 1/8000 and 1/16,000th. The camera itself cannot automatically set this 1/16,000th shutter speed in P or Av exposure mode; it's only when the user opts for it in M or Tv modes. And, nothing has to be unlocked (so to speak) within the menus to make it happen... just set the 1/16,000th as you would any other shutter speed, as long as you're in M or Tv mode. Enjoying the review -- hope you and the ladies had a great time trick-or-treating!

First off good good on the video That said you are a RUclipsr that uses 4 different systems, pretty sure that is not a problem for you. Back in my RZ days there were no 3 party lenses. I bought the sigma 50 and 85 Art after hearing you all rave about them The 85 and the 50 loosen up to where they has to be sent in. None of the EF glass that own have ever done that I have dropped them and had them repaired but just falling apart nope I am just starting to dive into the RF line I have a team of five photographers so I am still looking for the right combo for them. The R6 MK II looks good for that I tested the R6 early this year but I went with the R5 with a grip for my studio needs. Happy to see your growth over the years Continued success
Great video man as usual. I like the netty gritty details from let's say Gerald, but i love your real world use/point of view. It help me so many times, specially with lenses.
Your videos have been legit…. You covered all the bases on this one, you know what we want to hear in respect to the camera and comparing it to the Sony….. plus your videos feel genuine because you have your family in this one for example doing the halloween spirit thing…
Manny, wouldn't the R6 & the EF lens converter be an option to combat the price of the R lenses? I've heard that the lens converter works amazingly well so the EF lenses perform brilliantly
I have a few thousand in Canon EF lenses. Was deciding between the Sony A7IV and the R6 Mark 1. Decided on switching to Sony because the R6 overheated, had a 30 minute time limit, and a few other things. It came in yesterday... Seems like it was fixed and now I have to decide whether I return the A7IV or not for the R6 Mark II
Thank you for your honest opinion. If there is no certain reason I will not go back to Canon for a long time. No 3rd party is a deal-breaker for me no matter how good the body is. I started with a Canon 850 22 years ago and it is sad to switch.
@@navpreetsingh8156 What is your information source? Samyang withdrew their support and I haven't seen any other publications from Tamron/Sigma in this regard.
@@darkyduck I don't think any company selling lenses is withdrawing support, Canon did not make the lens APK available to anyone, it says on Canon rumours they have now opened up that information so 3rd party lenses can be developed, that might take a year or 2 anyway
I am/was in the same boat. With Canon EF I used to be an "L" snob but the RF line is just way too expensive AND heavy, I couldn't find a reason to stay with Canon anymore. 3d party brands have evolved so much in quality (optically and build) that the RF prices are just crazy. I swtiched to Sony, I hate the A7-mkIV body (cheaper, wrong button placement etc.) but the lenses are so much cheaper and lighter I am sticking with it.
@@darkyduck yea same, I have an A7IV now and it's nowhere near as good as a R or R5 to hold, Sony cameras are slowly getting bigger as they have realised people mostly want comfort over size, the lenses on the E mount are great now and Canon won't get a big following in the future if they don't open up to 3rd party
Great review!! Does it remember faces? If my subject is dancing in a group of people, can it remember to keep only my subject in focus at all times? And how would I set this up? Thanks.
The battery power is so true. I was worried about the battery life cause I switched from 5D3 to R62, but it turns out that if the airplane mode is on, one battery can easily hold up to 2000 shutter releases. I think how long the mirrorless camera battery can hold is depends on how long the camera is on (then the screen and the EVF is constantly using the power), instead of how many shutter was fired.
Great video! The best part is you making your family a priority. You’re a good father. Stayed till the end and value your opinion because you shoot and shoot well! W.C.R.T.
Manny been following for a while , tbh my pockets won't allow me to purchase the cam or lens you are speaking on but I love your content and the nonscript is nice because its just you and it was a great watch. Give yourself a lil more credit bro...
Great review, I'm still on canon 1DX, you are paying for the new autofocusing technology here, which is well worth it from a convenience point of view as a photographer, as I'm not a videographer. Your review was thorough with regard to the focussing and I've been waiting for the 135Lwith IS - my existing 135L is my favourite lens.
Perfectly said Manny. We need those third party lenses on the RF system. Not just because of the price. But also for different options. I for one won't buy another lens without an aperture ring. And the Sigma lenses have this feature. Having left Canon a year ago, I'm now considering the Sony or Lumix for a hybrid camera and would have easily gone for the R6ii if I could get some nice primes with aperture rings for it.
I love the Tamron 70-180 F2.8 lens too much to switch. Totally agree with you, unless more third party lenses are offered on the Canon, I'm much less likely to switch systems.
They won't. Canon is actually blocking existing released af 3rd party lenses on their cameras. That is the main reason why Canon doesn't make sense for those who do not earn money so they cannot get the return on the insanely high investment. Yeah, the new 135 1.8 is cool and has IS, but new Samyang exists for 1/3 of the price.
@@TigaWould yeah, it's really cool that EF lenses are really well adapted, but I would still rather use awesome Samyangs, Sigmas and others. None of the old EF lenses come even close to the newly developed ones.
The nice thing is that the EF adapter works so well, the lenses work better adapted on the mirrorless system than they did on the DSLRs... they work on par with the new RF lenses. In fact, lenses like the Sigma 50mm 1.4 adapted is still smaller and lighter than the RF 50mm 1.2, even with the adapter, and the AF and sharpness is almost 99% as good as the RF version, for 1/3 the price.

@@77dris I think you misunderstood me. I meant just the optics, not the autofocus. I'm very well aware that ironically you need a Canon mirrorless body to get 100% performance out of dlsr lenses. In regards to what I was talking earlier just take a look at recent Sigma 85/1.4 DG DN(the ~600g one). I would pick it over 85/1.2 due to half the size. There is nothing for Canon if you want more flexibility, either the best, heavy, expensive lenses or something dark and cheap-ish, or something VERY old from EF.
Any word if any of the 1080p modes are oversampled? 1080p quality has been getting badly ignored by everybody lately. Storage is expensive, let's see some optimized 1080p as an option too!
I haven't seen your videos in a while. I'm glad this was recommended for me today. I am selling my R6 today with plans to buy the R3 (I also have an R5) and you've made me reconsider holding out for an R6mkII. Love your perspective. Thank you so much.
Plan to pickup the Canon R6 Mk ii today. Currently shoot with an A7IV. I’ve truly enjoyed the Sony but I have to give the Canon a try. I don’t LOVE the colors from the Sony but they aren’t bad. I can’t put my finger on it but many of my landscape shots, especially in cloudy conditions just don’t have the colors I like with the Sony. Don’t get me wrong.. have taken outdoor shots of family/pets and gotten amazing colors from the Sony.. I’ve never truly tried a Canon and I think I have to. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
Looks as good as my R7s tracking and focus. It's always been rock solid, even at a distance or chasing birds through trees. Safe to say the R3 tracking has been passed down to all the newer models of Canon cameras. R10, R7, and now R6.
manny man! great reviwe bro! and if Canon would listen to you and just let these 3rd pary lenses back in it would be the best thing ever! im gonna buy your beauty dish if it happens! i promiss :)
Beautiful seeing how dope you and your family is and I stopped @ 14:15 to write this lol. Now back to the video. The camera is fire, but I’m good with the R7, I just want more glass
Great video bro!! Lately everytime I watch your videos I'm left wanting the camera. I want the Fuji 100V and now this camera as well. This would be a great second to my R5
You're better off going with Nikon as opposed to third party. The Nikon 1.8 glass is both better them both Sony and Cannon and I am not alone in that assessment because many independent reviewers say the exact same thing I'm telling.
I have the R6 MKII and the only RF lens that I have is the 35mm 1.8 IS STM. I am sticking to my EF - L seiries lenses. There is not much difference between the EF and RF. In fact, I think EF L lenses have better build quality. They produce stunning images and to be honest, I am not paying over £2,000.00 - £3,000.00 quid for a single RF lens. My advice for anyone wanting to use Canon is to buy the EF L series glass instead. For instance, EF - L 16-35mm F/4.00 IS USM glass will cost yah less than £1,000.00. This is a fair price for a wide-angle lens. Whereas the RF L lenses are a rip-off considering you could get native performance and save money with the EF glass.
I have EF 35,50,85 L series. I have aslo RF. When you buy RF, you will understand the huge difference. IF you are a pro, F2.8 matters and F1.4 matters much more, compared to F.4.
Excellent review very appreciated, even if it’s not the same category of price what do you think versus Sony A7R V ? I’ve got the Sony A7R IV wondering to change it even if the 61 mpx are fantastic in my opinion. Thank you.

Good morning Manny, I like watching your video’s on camera gear as your very honest in evaluating what your testing whether it be camera bodies, or lenses. I’m a wildlife photographer and landscapes as well but mostly wildlife. I’m 73 yrs young, and I just love going out and shooting different species be it animal or bird. I’ve been interested in the Canon R6ii since it has come out. I presently own the Canon 90D & Sigma 150-600 C lens for wildlife. I am on a budget so very interested in what you think of the R6ii for wildlife at 24 mp’s. As the Canon 90D has 32 and it’s a crop frame camera I do get that extra reach. Would prefer a 30 or 32 mp full frame camera just so I can crop in a little more. Just not sure if 24 mp’s will help me if I do have to crop my image. The dynamic range on a full frame surely outways a crop frame camera as well as speed too. I know there is a R6 iii coming and a R7 ii as well but not till next year. I know I will need new glass for witch ever mirrorless camera I buy but they also sell an adapter for my EF lenses that I already have. Interested in hearing what your thoughts would on what you think this would bring for me if I should buy or wait. All the best to you in your endeavours Brian
I love hearing your opinion on these things and all things photography. It's kind of a dream to run into you the few times I make it up to that area just to be able to tell you in person how much you have helped me further my carrier and passion in photography.
Excellent perspective, Manny! I sit on the sidelines with my 5D4 watching pros like you critique the new gear and then dream about having the new gear on my landscape outings or family stuff and I have to say that you really bring it to a place where I can understand. You made me realize that I am just fine with my 5D4. I'll always have more to learn and I don't think I would learn as much if I upgrade to a camera with 40 fps that will guarantee me a shot at my grandson's soccer game. So thanks for keeping it real.
5d2, 5d3, 5d4, R5 owner here. The AF of the R5 is so far advanced of the 5d4 itis almonst like going from MF to AF - the difference is just that big. I didn't pick up my 5d4 at all since buying the R5. No point.
I like this as i'm looking at the a7iv and tbh i'd be so torn if i wasn't so invested in the sony e mount (esp the 3rd party lens selection). It's great to see what else is out there and I can see each system has it's advantages. Great work again Manny!
I had this debate days and months - ended up going with the Sony A7 IV because of the lenses. Might switch back to canon down the line, but they need to understand how many customers they're losing by prohibiting 3rd party lenses.
@@ErosZilean Ya I just started selling ALL my Canon gear including my R6 and the 4 lens I had, to go get a Sony A7IV even if I've been with Canon since 13 years but they're just being complete assholes and I ain't gonna support that anymore.

First let me tell you: nice video mate! Very helpful, as always. IMHO both A7 IV and R6 MII are beasts! You can't go wrong with neither one and sure if we look at the specs, at least on paper, R6 MII is ahead. But, for me and atm, I cannot go with canon. Not while they keep up this policy about third party lenses and for what I can find we won’t see Third-Party RF-Mount Lenses until late 2024 (rumor), and for me that's way too late. During this last BF I went with a pretty good deal in for the sony a7 IV (at least in europe): - A7 IV Body (New), 3 year warranty by the manufactor and 5 years guarantee by the store - 2350€ (VAT included) I already bought a Laowa Macro lens because I need it to work, but i'm already looking to some other lenses to feed my hobby (Tamron, Sigma, Samyang, Sony, etc)

just 4 months used with RF 24-105 4L and RF 100 2.8 + 256 GB card 300MB/s
In 3465 USD. On the other hand R5mark2 is 4265 USD. I also don't have any lens.
There are 2 options first is buy the 2 lens with R62 or
2nd option is R52 with Rf50 1.8... later on I'll upgrade my lens 24-105.. is it worth to sacrifice more money. I want 4,5 years future safe. If you're in my place what you'll do??
Is it good offer or suggest me any other option!!
I don't have any gear now .. I used to have 5dmark3 in 2016... But I changed my field as currently working in the restaurant business industry. I want to target small restaurants and small businesses for social media and products photography, as I have planned to give free 30 sec, 1 min reels for Snapchat, tiktok and Instagram. Just to build my portfolio on Instagram and other platforms. Plus I'll do street photography as I'm living an expat in Saudi Arabia. I belong to Pakistan.
@@iabdulhaseebLook at Canon refurbished, like new and with a warranty
First off good good on the video
That said you are a RUclipsr that uses 4 different systems, pretty sure that is not a problem for you.
Back in my RZ days there were no 3 party lenses.
I bought the sigma 50 and 85 Art after hearing you all rave about them
The 85 and the 50 loosen up to where they has to be sent in.
None of the EF glass that own have ever done that
I have dropped them and had them repaired but just falling apart nope
I am just starting to dive into the RF line
I have a team of five photographers so I am still looking for the right combo for them.
The R6 MK II looks good for that
I tested the R6 early this year but I went with the R5 with a grip for my studio needs.
Happy to see your growth over the years
Continued success
Great video man as usual. I like the netty gritty details from let's say Gerald, but i love your real world use/point of view. It help me so many times, specially with lenses.
6:30 that shot with the rainbows is just dope!
Your videos have been legit…. You covered all the bases on this one, you know what we want to hear in respect to the camera and comparing it to the Sony….. plus your videos feel genuine because you have your family in this one for example doing the halloween spirit thing…
19:35 Manny wins Many Many hearts. I love your vdeos and it gives a lota insight. Keep rocking.
Manny, wouldn't the R6 & the EF lens converter be an option to combat the price of the R lenses? I've heard that the lens converter works amazingly well so the EF lenses perform brilliantly
EF adapted glass works better than ever. You've got that in body stabilization to help them out and the AF tech on the mirrorless is great.
Best video I’ve seen in a long time. This video is the reason I’m subscribing.
Canon has been killing it lately.
Excellent review Manny, thank you!
Always a pleasure watching your videos. Pls keep making more videos. We always learn new stuff. God bless.
Gr8 video brother, I enjoyed the fact that it wasn't scripted. Keep up the good work brother.
Trade a 33 mp camera for a 24 mp camera with no third party lens support. You’d be mad.
Thank you for your honest opinion. If there is no certain reason I will not go back to Canon for a long time. No 3rd party is a deal-breaker for me no matter how good the body is. I started with a Canon 850 22 years ago and it is sad to switch.
They have realised their mount to 3rd party so I'd expect the Tamrons etc,, to join the game soon
Thanks.
So torn between Canon and Sony right now. R6mark2 vs sony a74😲🤯
Love this Videostile, without script. Please do that more often.
You dont need no script you killed it! Thank you Manny. First day subscriber here.
Thanks to you, I got R6 mark2 and it is my first camera ever in my life. Thank you for helping me that i chose one.
Great video. Also I want to see you and Jared in a buddy cop movie for some reason 😂
dont worry, this no script review video is amongst one of the best R6 review videos out there
Manny I do value your opinion, you just helped me make my mind up. Your always on point as usual. May you stay blessed!!!
If you want to buy a new hybrid camera between an R5 or the new R6 mark ii , which one would you buy ? Thanks
Great video! The best part is you making your family a priority. You’re a good father. Stayed till the end and value your opinion because you shoot and shoot well! W.C.R.T.
Same thing for me no matter how good the body its just tough not having those 3rd party options. Sony it is for me.
Manny been following for a while , tbh my pockets won't allow me to purchase the cam or lens you are speaking on but I love your content and the nonscript is nice because its just you and it was a great watch. Give yourself a lil more credit bro...
First time I watched one of your videos; I stayed until the end. Great. I subscribed.
Yep, your opinion matter, yours is the first video i watched about this cam' ! Enjoyed it xoxo
So would you prefer this or the Canon R8 now?

The Sigma 14-24 2.8 is 99% as good as the new RF ultra wides (better than some) and is much, much cheaper and comes with a 7 year warranty vs Canon's 1 year.
You're presets must be the best I've ever seen...Definitely my style
Any word if any of the 1080p modes are oversampled? 1080p quality has been getting badly ignored by everybody lately. Storage is expensive, let's see some optimized 1080p as an option too!
Props on the BMX images 🔥.
This honest review of the Canon EOS 6 II and your HDMI capture of the AF workflow of this camera sold it to me. 😎
CANON LEADS THE TECHNOLOGY 🙌🙌
Looks as good as my R7s tracking and focus. It's always been rock solid, even at a distance or chasing birds through trees. Safe to say the R3 tracking has been passed down to all the newer models of Canon cameras. R10, R7, and now R6.
Like always u do a fantastic job Manny!!!!
manny man! great reviwe bro! and if Canon would listen to you and just let these 3rd pary lenses back in it would be the best thing ever! im gonna buy your beauty dish if it happens! i promiss :)
Beautiful seeing how dope you and your family is and I stopped @ 14:15 to write this lol. Now back to the video. The camera is fire, but I’m good with the R7, I just want more glass
Another really great review. Care bear costume enhances it so much more 😁
I like that you know your niche and strengths. Thanks for the perspective!
Love this long form video. You should do it more this way!
Great video bro!! Lately everytime I watch your videos I'm left wanting the camera. I want the Fuji 100V and now this camera as well. This would be a great second to my R5
You are the coolest care bear in the biz.
Appreciate and trust your reviews Manny. Thank you for doing what you do.
Fro knows Photo cameo 😮
I forgot which vid I was on for a second and went “Wait, I thought I just finished the fro vid”. Was wondering if he’d pop up in someone’s video lol
Could make it a drinking game of how many times he pops up.😂
It doesn't recognise him as a person... more like a blob
Wow, that's *4* rhymes compared tk the usual 3!
Fro knows fro-toe!
We don't care if you script, we love that you always keep it 100!
100% on 3 rd Party lenses. I am waiting to see what canon and Nikon does over the next year.
Great video man!! Even without a script 🎉 Definitely wanted to hear your thoughts on this camera since you use all brands. Thanks for this! 🙌🏼
The moving of the ON/OFF makes sense because it allows for one handed operation which is not possible when power on the other side.
Excellent review very appreciated, even if it’s not the same category of price what do you think versus Sony A7R V ? I’ve got the Sony A7R IV wondering to change it even if the 61 mpx are fantastic in my opinion. Thank you.
Excellent as always! I just found you a recently but I’m already at the point of when you put out a video about anything I’m clicking! Gerald undone is where I go to get the ultimate technical specs but as soon as I have those I come to guys like you that are going to real world the hell out of it! Thank you!
I use a 77d that does like 7fps. Hoping to get the 5d4. 🤣🤣🤣.
Same, same.
I too am still loving my 5D4, although the R6II has just made it as a candidate for my second cam (Video)
5d2, 5d3, 5d4, R5 owner here. The AF of the R5 is so far advanced of the 5d4 itis almonst like going from MF to AF - the difference is just that big.
I didn't pick up my 5d4 at all since buying the R5. No point.
What fun is that? Life is short so buy a new camera!!!!
Just bought the R6mk2 today! Thanks for the vid, helped in making the decision!
I like this as i'm looking at the a7iv and tbh i'd be so torn if i wasn't so invested in the sony e mount (esp the 3rd party lens selection). It's great to see what else is out there and I can see each system has it's advantages. Great work again Manny!
Whats your opinion on a7iv overheating thing?
@@LorencCala mostly a non issue once you set the camera to high temp tolerance.
@@ErosZilean How is Sony A7iv in low light and high ISO performing shooting JPEG and video out camera without post processing?
Solid overview of the autofocus functionality!
Very Impressive AF! I'm too heavily invested in Sony glass to do the switching thing again. Hopefully Sony is taking notes. The easy switching of eye af would be super useful.
It's simple imho: The RF glass is crazy expensive, limited and 3d party support not even on the horizon. Reason why I swtiched away from Canon...
You are saving my sanity! I want the color of Canon, and will do some beach portraits for supplemental income, but mainly clouds landscapes.,ocean No video. Which Canon do you recommend? I do not want a digital look to photograph thunderheads nor portraits.
CANON is KING! Always has been! 💪
Star of the show is that amazing new lens, wow
HI Manny, thanks for your awesome video. You audio was a bit off but content was great. I love your work since a long time.
Thanks Manny. I loved the video and honest opinion. Your family is beautiful, btw
During this last BF I went with a pretty good deal in for the sony a7 IV (at least in europe):
- A7 IV Body (New), 3 year warranty by the manufactor and 5 years guarantee by the store - 2350€ (VAT included)
I already bought a Laowa Macro lens because I need it to work, but i'm already looking to some other lenses to feed my hobby (Tamron, Sigma, Samyang, Sony, etc)
I just got my R6 about 3 months ago, I would have got the R6 Mark II, but I think that I will keep what I got. for now. Thanks for the great video!
