Hey all, I have some answers for a few of the questions that came through since I posted this video. Please see below: 1) Will there be an SDI model? -Yes. 2) Will there be a half SDI/half HDMI model? TBD 3) Are there scalers on all inputs? There are scalers/frame synchronizer on all inputs, but the max resolution is limited to 1080p50/60. 4) What formats does it record to the SD card? Only MP4. 5) Will there be a separate control software at some point so it can be controlled via computer connection? We have noticed this demand from our customers, and the company attaches great importance to it and has included it in the company's development plan. 6) Can this be controlled with Companion? It has been added into the company's development plan. 7) In what video format does it capture when connecting via USB to OBS? In MJPG 8) Can it record ISO files of each input to the SD card? Or is it only program feed? To select the input you'd like to record, please go to Menu>Settings>Out source>UVC to select one from IN 1/IN2/IN3/IN4/PGM/PVW/Multiview/AUX. 9) Can this be controlled from a StreamDeck? -Not for now. 10) Are you able to access the SD card when the GoStream is connected to a computer with a USB-C cable? No
#10 seems like something that should be called out specifically. Does that mean no video playback when streaming via OBS over USB or can it access video files from the computer somehow? I suppose worst case you'd just have to play those video files directly through OBS, but that's not as convenient and you lost the tactile play/stop/next/prev buttons.
@@cletuswa if you are playing back content from OBS, OBS would obtain that content directly from your computer's hard drive or from a connected USB device. Playing back anything in OBS is going to occur independent of a hardware based switcher. With that said, the OSEE has buttons on it for play, pause and stop. You'd simply have to have your video files available in advance of going live loaded in on the SD card which in 100% of all my livestreams, I get the files in advance.
I received mine earlier this week and have been playing around with it hoping to use it for a hybrid meeting this weekend. Love it so far, and having that second HDMI output was the real selling point for me (and saved me $$$ from buying another Extreme).
After using my ATEM Mini Pro, this one looks more interesting. Depending on the price, I might want to switch. But at the end of the day, I do want to see a hybrid switcher setup with half SDI and half HDMI.
That’s on the list 😀 as mentioned this model was pre production and still had some firmware updates needing to be done. This video also gives me the opportunity to find out from people like you what you’d actually like to see tested. So, what would you want to see?
Great review thanks for that. Would like to see more in depth showing video playback and setting up super source. I assume it has scalers like the ATEM. What formats can it record? Is there separate control software so that maybe it could be used with Companion? Half and half would be very useful.
About someone has challenge blackmagic.. would love to know recording codec, can it do instant replay, and has iso recording.. great pre review… plug in some cameras zeph let’s see the quality
25ft is the maximum for HDMI cables. Beyond that you’ll need active or fiber hdmi cables. You can use any PTZ camera with the OSEE so long as it has hdmi output.
Each input can be recorded. Which input you'd like to record, please go to Menu>Settings>Out source>UVC to selecte one from IN 1/IN2/IN3/IN4/PGM/PVW/Multiview/AUX.
@@osee_tech ah so as Aaron Parecki discovered for us, the recording is the same as the USB out (uvc). So no ability to send camera only out to eg Zoom/Teams via USB while recording the program eg super source 😥
Ha! I thought it was interesting to have both a preview and program row. I think that’s not as necessary and could have left more space for other things but interesting design. Maybe if there’s a SDI and HDMI model one row could control one set of inputs while the other would control the rest.
Hi, Zephan! I have an oddly specific question So, i’m hoping to ask a friend to bring this unit for me from the US Does it have a lithium ion battery that my airline should know about or is it safe to check it in?
Hmm that’s a great question. The unit is operated by plugging in for wall power. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t perhaps a smaller internal battery as many electronics have for keeping time and settings. I don’t know the answer to this one so I’d reach out to the manufacturer. I’m afraid the only way I could find out is by cracking one open. While I’m inclined to say no there isn’t, I don’t want to be incorrect. With that said though I’ve traveled with many atem switchers and it’s never been an issue.
Hi Zephan, I like the built-in menu feature, however does it have an option through one of its USB-C ports to control it through an interface like the ATEM switchers do? I mostly use my current ATEM in the field, and I find having a touchscreen-laptop with me for quick fixes and media pool changes really does help when it comes to on the fly changes. I am curious if there's an interface option as well.
@zephanmoses an odd question for you. Dimension-wise, how does this casing compare to the footprint of the ATEM MINI Pro ? Would stands and such created 3rd party for 4-input atem models?
@@Vidman1981 it’s fairly close in size but I haven’t owned a mini pro in a while. I mostly use the SDI extreme iso these days when I’m on smaller projects. I don’t believe it’s the same form factor though so it probably wouldn’t be the same footprint.
Great questions, going to take it into account and work on a follow up video to try to answer as many of these as I can. I'm going to take a guess that no it is not accessible that way and that you'd have to pop the card out but I will look into this!
Two hdmi outputs. Streaming occurs either using usb-c attached to a computer or via Ethernet. The encoder can stream to three destinations simultaneously and the streaming keys are stored on the SD card in word documents. Then using the built in menu system you can dictate which word document has the stream key.
does it have companion/stream deck control? I believe all switchers should have companion/stream deck control. It is neccessary to my streaming setup. Thanks
From the reviews I've seen so far, it doesn't look like. I've asked one reviewer about additional control from PC and he said no. Everything is controlled on the device.
