No I haven't flashed anything yet, all the gauges will work but you will need to buy and install a tire pressure module and program it at the dealer so it displays tire pressure, then you need to buy the upgraded steering wheel with evic navigation arrows and the code XBG needs to be programmed. in some cases you need to rewire the 3 wires to get your horn and cruise to work, there's a lot more information about this on ramforumzdotcom, type in "added evic to my st" in the search bar.
@@johnruble3454 I never ended up finishing this as I ended up selling the truck, but I never had an issue with my horn. Great job and video. I understand about the 3 wire mod and codes I need added. I have a question about the tire pressure sensors. My old cluster would only show I had low pressure, not the actual pressure in each tire. Do I need new sensors or will my old ones work. I'm also curious about the cruise control. Since my old steering wheel had the controls on a stick after I do the wire mod to get power to the new steering wheel, will I be able to use the control buttons or will that only work after I get the dealer to add sales codes. Also can you tell me which codes you had added so I can be sure to have the correct ones added.
I never ended up fully completing mine, so I can’t answer for the cruise, horn, or codes. As far as tire pressure goes, your old sensors are fine, but you have to install the tire pressure module (I have a video on that) and get it programmed to your cluster at the dealer.
Tony The Truck Guy So do you know if my current system only use a module that relays when pressure is low and I need the new module to relay the pressure in each tire? I'm curious why dodge would use two different modules.

You just need one out of a Laramie or SLT or Big Horn, they should all have EVIC controls. There’s a few posts about the horn issue on the Dodge forums if you Google search “Dodge Ram evic swap”
So if I upgrade my cluster it says to be at the same mileage as my truck? Can the dealer set it to the correct mileage? And i also have to switch out my steering wheel or I can’t control the settings on it?
Correct. The dealer can likely program it for you but they will charger $50-$100 I’d guess. And yes you need the correct steering wheel for full functionality of the cluster. I also heard on certain years you have to run a single wire for the horn to work but mine still worked so I’m not sure if that’s the 09-11 model years or what.

Yeah you won’t be able to navigate through the cluster until you get new steering wheel with the proper buttons on it. There is a good amount of info on the Ram forums about the horn issue. Apparently you have to run a wire and tap into a connector under the steering column. My horn never had a problem but my truck was also a ‘12.

Anyone know how to fix an EVIC screen that is partially burnt out? I bought a used 2010 Ram and EVIC screen is blank while idling and looking at it head on. If I step out of the vehicle an look at it from an angle I can tell the screen is on and there is information being sent but I can't make out what it is. Seems like shoddy craftsmanship to have a screen burn out in only 6 years. But if anyone knows how to get it fixed other than this method in the video please let me know.
I never got around to swapping steering wheels before selling the truck. The new steering wheel would bolt right up but it’s been so long that I can’t remember how the wiring goes. I THINK everything just plugs in, but I remember reading on some of the Ram forums that some people had to tap into a wire in order to maintain their horn function.
Yeah....same steps, different part numbers. Note that the title also says "installation video". 2009-2012 IS the 4th gen of Ram. Technically, 2013-current "classic" or "DS" body style is also 4th gen, but 2013 saw a decent refresh in which it got an updated interior and included different instrument clusters. Thus, this only applies to the 09-12 trucks.
I actually sold the truck before finishing it, i sold the cluster to a guy on the Ramforumz and he was working on it but i never heard back on if it worked. The cluster functioned properly just couldn't scroll through the menu without new steering wheel, I know there's a wiring mod with that.
I’m assuming yours is a 09-11 model year? Mine was a 12 and never had that issue. There’s a few threads on some of the old forums regarding this issue. I believe all of those switches are also LED's soldered to a circuit board. Your best bet would be to get a cheap window switch from a junk yard and rear it apart to see if the lights are can be replaced or not. That way you aren't risking damage or wasting time taking apart your actual switch.

Russ Matthess - If you're lucky, you could maybe find someone that rebuilds the clusters but I have a feeling that a used one would be cheaper/easier.
Can you link a forum on how to change the steering wheel?

Is the steering wheel plug and play?
I never got around to swapping steering wheels before selling the truck. The new steering wheel would bolt right up but it’s been so long that I can’t remember how the wiring goes. I THINK everything just plugs in, but I remember reading on some of the Ram forums that some people had to tap into a wire in order to maintain their horn function.
where do you got yours from?
Whats the OEM # for the dash cluster and steering wheel?
That’s going to depend on what year your truck is. The 2012 is different from the 09-11
@@TonyTheTruckGuy
Odd Reply being the title of the video features 4th generation 2009 - 2012.
Thus, this only applies to the 09-12 trucks.
hi did you finish all the programming yet?
I actually sold the truck before finishing it, i sold the cluster to a guy on the Ramforumz and he was working on it but i never heard back on if it worked. The cluster functioned properly just couldn't scroll through the menu without new steering wheel, I know there's a wiring mod with that.
i put new cluster in my horn dont work what do i need to do to fixed this?
I’m assuming yours is a 09-11 model year? Mine was a 12 and never had that issue. There’s a few threads on some of the old forums regarding this issue. They say you have to run a w wire for the horn I believe. dodgeforum.com/forum/4th-gen-ram-general-discussion-non-tech/270371-added-evic-gauge-cluster-to-my-st-ram-3.html
I would have put 10k more miles on it before I put it in.. lol
Could I put this in my 3rd gen 06
Anything is possible with enough work, but it’s not going to just drop right in and work.
Thank you for replying your awesome do you recommend a year for me to get or choose whatever I want
@@britneymccall3256 A year of what? New truck or just an instrument cluster?
Just the instrument cluster
@@britneymccall3256 I think just about any 06-08 Ram 1500 cluster will work (if you have a 1500), or any 06-09 if you have 2500 or 3500. I would search eBay or car-part.com for a cluster out of the same year/make/model and with similar mileage to what your truck has. The 03-05 body style clusters may also work, but I’m not sure without doing research.
The problem is that does not work the horn
Pretty sure I said that’s a possibility in the video.
Damn it my steering wheel doesn't have the buttons
Haha well yeah you have to change it
does anyone or has anybody ever change the lights from that green Factory to Blue red or any kind of color or the AC and wear your roll down Windows buttons are?? I been trying to make my 2012 dodge ram Factory green lights look like the 2014 model with the blue lights if anybody has ever done it please make a video
I'm pretty sure all of these lights are soldered to a circuit board and not replaceable. I could be wrong but it seems that's how most manufacturers are doing things now so without taking switches apart, I can't say for sure.
+Tony The Truck Guy yeah like I know you can't replace the domitor or the gauges on your truck but I'm just wondering if you can replace the colors like on your AC and heater and window controls buttons I'm just trying to see if I can change the color on those I guess I have to look but if you fine anyway... please make a video
I believe all of those switches are also LED's soldered to a circuit board. Your best bet would be to get a cheap window switch from a junk yard and rear it apart to see if the lights are can be replaced or not. That way you aren't risking damage or wasting time taking apart your actual switch.
its a 2009 1500
Odometer i fo stored in bcm not the cluster
It is stored in both the PCM AND the instrument cluster.
i stil can use it , right?
Use what? The cluster? It will display information but you won't be able to cycle through any of the menu's without a new steering wheel.
