- I swap my Ram gauge cluster in my 2018 Ram 3500 Diesel it works with any cluster I wanted the premium one with the larger screen and visual functions. It will work on any ram 2013-2018 and will not work with a truck older than 2012. I show the tools needed and the process start to finish and both turned off and on to show the difference. I also have a steering wheel swap video and will have the 8.4 radio up grade radio video up as well after posting this one. Great video. I did the same thing, used a gas cluster and then used an old android phone from a friend and Alfa obd to reset my mileage. Also used it to change the threshold for tpms.
Also, if someone cares about the def gauge, the gas version will still alert you of low def even without the gauge. Save the roughly 400 bucks more for the diesel cluster.

How did you reset miles? Thinking of doing swap and would definitely want it to match so theres no odo discrepancy on carfax if i ever sell.

You can change your computer settings and let it know that you have LEDS to fix the codes you need an after market programmer or your dealer can also program it for you.
Yup did both and still got the error codes so I just bought the canbus leds and no issues
I'm about to pick up a '17 2500 tradesman in hills green like yours but it's a crew cab SB 6.4 4wd. I can't wait to get it 👌👌 gonna do this and then the 8.4 uconnect swap too.

What would happen if you just left the mileage? Would it still work. I just bought one (on the way), but I don’t have anyone to program it, and I don’t have AlfaOBD. The one I purchased is a year older than my truck, but only has a few thousand miles more than mine. I can live with that if it will work. Will the dealer program it?

Yup, gas cluster works great. I just dont use much of the RPM range.
This was pulled off a Gas Ram, hence the no DEF gauge.....so, the Ram computer automatically brings up the Diesel oriented data on the cluster even though it was originally for a gas motor?
Did he replace an you wire harness? To upgrade and it's linked to the screen correct
Who programs them? The dealership said that’s not something we can do. I said that okay just cause you can’t do it doesn’t mean that I can’t do the swap.

Soo aside from having a high engine rpm tach the gasser works perfectly fine.
Where did you get the premium gauge cluster? looking at ordering one but cannot find anyone who makes custom gauge cluster for RAM Trucks.

I just bought a 2017 2500 6.7 if I buy a cluster that's from a 3500 or 1500 will it say 3500/1500 or 2500 when I turn the key on or is that something I can change with the alpha obd
Nathan Roeder it shows whatever your truck is it’s programmed in the trucks bcm. Like mine came out of a gas 1500 and says 3500 when I turn it on since my truck is a 3500

Really appreciate all your videos. I have a 16 2500 tradesman diesel, but can't delete DEF fluid in CA. How would I keep track of the DEF level if I used this gas cluster? Do you know the P/N I need? Any help would be appreciated.
eBay is the best bet for all that any cluster will work but I’ll avoid 13/14 clusters as some 14 clusters can be pre 2013 clusters and you wont have tpms information so 15 and up will work

Hey does the gas tach bother you at all driving? I only look at mine occasionally when shifting but it looks like 1-2000 rpms are pretty close together
Oh and I forgot to ask too. Any idea if the low def message will still pop up on a gas cluster. I don’t mind losing the gauge until I delete one day but I’d still like the warning till then haha. Thanks!
Update. I bought a gas cluster. It does display Low def warnings. And the smaller tach sucks for Manual trans lol but it’s good enough

My truck is over 600k mileage and odometer stopped and if I change it and start off at zero,would the odometer still work or is it necessary to get it programmed
It will work but needs to be set to the current mileage
@@SethRighi my question is tho if it’s not set to original miles will it still work properly cause dealers will charge $400 just to program it and one dealer said if I set it to the same mileage it won’t work because they stop at million kilometers,I don’t need the actual mileage because I’ve been running my gps and calculating the mileage for work,this is my work truck and they don’t keep track of that,so I just need it to work as a trip counter if nothing else

No the miles are saved in the cluster you’ll have to reprogram it

@@SethRighi Thanks for the reply. It looked like small "speaker" ports on the back of the panel you removed. Didn't get a good look at the updated cluster. The old trucks had the chime located at about your right knee and easy to get to. This one sounds higher up the dash and harder to get to. Thanks again.
