Make sure to like the video if you enjoyed it! I have a LOT more things that I'd add to an iceberg, so if you guys really enjoy this I could do a part 2 with more deep cuts.
I'd love to see part 2 - I guess there would be things such as: Dom's sex tape, anagrams, maybe Megalomania's fake lyrics (to get access to church/cathedral organs) and other fun or less-known trivia.
Can you put in the info about the solo of muscle museum? At the rehearsal matt begins the solo and Fs it up immediately so he continues to sing it. On the album recording he sings the solo in a microphone trough a Marshall amp so that's how they created the unique sound. I always like that story
hey I'm the original creator of this iceberg chart - thanks for making this video! I made it quite a while ago so I'm sure there are way more niche things that people will be mentioning in the comments haha
'the muse' refers to when muse went to " a quelli che il calcio" on Italian TV and exchanged musical instruments. For an Italian muser like me this video is wonderful. I managed to remember all the levels of the iceberg. I'm glad you included hate this and i ll love you, one of my favorite but unfortunately little known songs.🔥
the reason they exchanged instruments is because they wanted Matt to lip sync and Dom and Chris to pretend they played while they played the track in the background, just to add a bit of context
11:29 I think it refers to that famous performance at some italian TV show where they were forced to playback and in revenge they swapped instruments. The announcer called them The Muse
I can't remember what interview it was but Chris did say that Matt called him and just went "Listen to this: PWOPA PWOPA PWOPA PWOPA PWOPA PWOPA GANDA" when pitching a new song idea
BRO. So. I’m pretty sure “the muse” is from that itallian tv show they went on where they switched roles and lip synced. So dom pretended to be Matt, Matt was on the drums etc. I believe it was because they didn’t wanna do the performance and were forced to. Just put “muse itallian tv show” into RUclips it’s still there I believe And it’s very very funny
@@NightwalkReal Because they were forced to play in playback, and in protest they switched places. I was "lucky" to see him live, the most embarrassing thing and that the presenter Simona Ventura didn't realize that it was a complete joke...
I think "matt trying to kill dom" can also refer to that one infamous and hilarious tumblr post about matt "full on" trying to kill dom with a knife 💀💀 but considering that was loooong ago the tier could just be referring to regular deathly guitar throwing lmao
I'd personally put Showbiz down a tier. I feel like some casual fans don't even know that album exists and although it got most of its success in the UK, Feeling Good (which is in tier 2) is more well-known over here than pretty much the whole of Showbiz
I think feeling good here is specifically referring to the radio 3 show. Ive heard 2 versions of the story, one goes that they were told not to swear even though they basically had no swears in their music and as a joke threw that moment in. Or they were just drunk lol.
2012 Olympics - their live performance from the opening ceremony was cut from the US audience for commercials. There was like 20 performers and literally Muse was the only one cut for commercials. I am still upset at NBC over this. I sat through that whole thing waiting for them.
10:27 - about Dom's fashion. It also had an appearance on The Resistance tour - I think there were several gigs, in which Dom dressed up weird or unusual. The other thing is that in one making of video (I guess Neutron Star Collision) he also has a costume, an unusual costume.
Matt's speech impediment is called "rhoticism" (trouble with the R sound, particularly after a consonant). He can nail R's okay some of the time or when he slows down - but he rarely slows down (he just is one of those people who thinks too fast for speech) 🤣 and he has particular trouble with R's immediately after other consonants, such as "pr" and "tr"
As a Pwoper Muse fan im in wayyy deeper than tier 7 haha, but this was really cool and if youre a new fan this is kind of a nice introduction actually. I missed takeabow19 in this list though :P and also their refusal to do playback on live tv :D
My sister came up with theory about twilight book series and its connection to muse because apparently Stephanie Myer's fav band is muse and she used to write fanfics before her novel maybe apparently slash yaoi ones and there's like weird love triangle going on between Bellamy(Bella) Howard(Edward) and Wolstenholme(Jacob)
I just pictured the Cullens as Muse in my mind, in the scene where Bella first meet them at the cafeteria. The blond one, Dom; the shorter one with weird bronze hair, Matt; and the taller one with dark curly hair, Chris.
Wait what? 🤣 Funny thing was, when I saw Edward for the 1st time, and I heard that the writer really love muse, I immediately remembered Matt in Sunburn music video. So I always imagine Stephanie took Bellamy as inspiration for Edward desihn character 🙈
Clarification. In an interview, Matt said that it was for his ex and was never intended to be used for the Twilight movies. It just sounded appropriate for the movie.
Oh man where do I start. I remember being at school when Showbiz came out. Got me into Jeff Buckley. I saw them support Bush with Soulwax. I have all the original EPs and Nishe is my favourite song. Inspired me to play bass guitar.
the fishing trip was part of the hullabaloo 2nd DVD which ccontains all sorts of behind the scenes from the tour and covvershoot (i think this was a special edition) the "sit the eff down" thing was also part of that DVD also, the hullabaloo soundtrack is not just edits, they are all the b-sides from the origin singles (plugin baby alone contains 5 additional tracks which are all on the sountrack)
Been a fan for nearly 10 years and it felt so good to remember all of these moments, also I believe Matt's socks could also be when he put socks on in the middle of an interview hsdhaksfka
There should be on the lowest tier the PMT thead on Muse forum which sadly is inactive for some years now, but back in 2010 was booming with ladies literally posting pictures of our boys and well, they mostly included their crotch regions xD It was interesting part of the forum back in a day, I'm kinda happy I was still be able to be part of it xD. Also what adds to it "Suspecting Dom to be gay" as Dom was the last one of them to get a girlfriend and his fashion sense is quite original, let's say it, because our guy loves skinny jeans and panter-dot shirts xD.
Not sure if this is iceberg-worthy, but I recently discovered that Citizen Erased and Resistance use an almost identical background melody. Just thought it was cool to share
11:29 to say "the Muse" was the Italian presenter Simona Ventura, in a program where they were forced to sing in playback. The video is hilarious ruclips.net/video/U7LT3FtPtbc/видео.html

i could understand some people don't like shipping stuff. wish we could see some belldom moment here cuz they're hilarious 😂 most of the time it just matt tryna k*ll dom. nothing romantic here lol
What a joyful video, I'm grinning so hard from start to finish, although I still want more... I want to believe a bigger iceberg is only a matter of time... Muse lore is hilarious! I can picture "Guiding Light sucks" up on the sky, then "Guiding Light is actually good" deep underwater!
I think "the muse" maybe also came from a show they did in, I think Austin, that was end of the Absolution tour dvd. I'm pretty sure they were introduced as the muse and the song was Fury, it's been about 15 years since I watched it so might be wrong! I also remember Matt talking about how it was "proper fucking rock and roll" haha
Thanks for the vid! The "Sit the f*ck down" clip is so famous because of Matt's hilarious laugh. There are more clips of his laugh on YT. Would love to see another video including WOTPing and aliens! And their live shows.
Love the list, but do feel like it's missing a proper Level 1. As far as the general audience goes, people might know Starlight, or Uprising, or have heard the Feeling Good cover, but I would've put Showbiz and even Knights as a deeper cut. Origin of Symmetry again is sadly less well known than it ought to be.
If you ever do a part 2 then here's some ideas. Maggots in jacuzzi on shrooms (and shrooms generally), lots of stuff from the Showbiz era, not just THE MUSE lip sync moment but all the other ones too, no yew idiot, one of their CDs getting thrown in the bin by the mayor of their home town, Murph/Will/Charles, the glitterati (RIP), the Top Gear videogame influence for Bliss, Takeabow19, I could honestly go on and on.
5:22 I once posted on the Radiohead subreddit asking for album recommendations given that I'm a fan of Origin of Symmetry. Almost every comment said that Origin of Symmetry was a straight copy (some even said rip-off) of OKC so I should just start there. I've listened to OKC many times since then and I still don't know where the comparisons come from.
About the guitar smashing record... That was proven to be false; Matt never smashed 140 guitars during that tour. However, the myth was so widespread even Guinness World Records were fooled for a while.
18:00 I don’t have words to describe the version they played during the Black Holes Tour. It starts quiet and more stripped down, and when you think this version will be calmer and simpler for Matt to sing, the chorus comes and he just completely fucks his throat and his voice sounds like he’s bleeding through his mouth and screaming like he’s going to die when the song ends but you still can’t understand a single word while Chris seems to be punching his bass and Dom just goes crazy on the drums.
I have a fun obscure one for the iceberg. Did you know that there exists an extended outro version of Bliss? The version on the album, even the rerelease, fades out at the end. It is extremely obscure, but it was distributed to radiostations waaayyy back in the day.
The speech impediment abusing on Propaganda isn’t alleged, he confirmed it himself on an interview where they went over all the Sun Theory songs Edit: it was the Radio X interview
My Favorite Album's. The Resistance, Drones, Simulation Theory. Drones has something special to me. Whole the album has a great atmosphere. I am still a big fan of Origin Of Symmetry too. Micro Cuts came in the spot to me these days. This album is very talented. As Absolution is too. Black Holes And Revelation's is very energetic to me. If You think about how great the last Album's where' Simulation Theory and Will Of The People. I am a fan of Matt his Beautiful singed song's. This remind's me to U2. As I find Megalomania is great to listen again too. Thanks for this video. It's amazing
"The Muse", I suppose, is a name of Muse in an Italian TV-show, where Matt was playing drums, Chris - piano + guitar, Dom - bass + vocal. Organizers told him to play under the phonogram and guys decided to make a prank with instruments and name :) Despite this, the audience did not guess
Something I haven't seen anyone mention: they didn't write Neutron Star Collision for the Twilight. Matt wrote it following his breakup with his girlfriend at the time. They thought it didn't fit in The Resistance, so they gave it to Twilight when they were asked.

Not a great iceberg when large parts of it are just standard album releases and tracks from those releases. No mention of World War Z, Matt's solo career overlap, ST video chronology, "Will of the Sheeple", the Exogenesis Pt 4 joke etc. Your analysis missed that the Rocket Baby Dolls battle of the bands (at Teignmouth High) plays out in the video for Pressure and that "sit the f**k down" is referenced in the YMMFLIH video. Most surprisingly, you don't get what "The Muse" is referring to? It's literally what every single song is about - The Anima. You've been missing out on what any of the lyrics really mean without knowing that. Propaganda is on there because it's the entire meaning of the Simulation Theory album - layers of propaganda like being in stacked virtual worlds, hence the can of Propaganda causing the issues in the video for Pressure.
Sadly they are more of a niche band or crowd for them in certain areas for people covering them. Mostly people know them from what songs are on Twilight movies
11:32. Когда я читал книгу о Muse Марка Бомона и там писалось, что muse это вроде как сокращение(вроде даже не очень то и приличное), но я не помню на какой это было странице и увы поискав я не смог найти :(
Oh my, you left out SO much on the deep Muse levels! (Says the woman who owns a 2005 MuseBike, obtained by the Austin Crew after an international coalition helped solve the anagrams and encoded song titles on their mtvU tour.) And there is NO way that Tom Kirk is on the deepest level...
No joke... the only reason I wanted to play bass was because of the Hysteria bass riff. Which I can sort of jankily play. But you know what? I don't care. I don't play for anyone but me
Make sure to like the video if you enjoyed it! I have a LOT more things that I'd add to an iceberg, so if you guys really enjoy this I could do a part 2 with more deep cuts.

Ahh you must be right! I totally remembered wrong. Thanks for clearing that up
@@NightwalkReal you’re welcome, btw I love your videos (and love The abyss)
@@PonKabruti Ayy thank you! I have been writing a ton and have a bunch of new music on the way so keep an eye out.
This guy Muses. Proper video!
I’ve been a fan of muse for wayyy over 12 years now, I seen them for the first time in 2018 and it was so bloody amazing! I see them again next month and I’m already buzzing for it! This band could do no wrong in my eyes🩶
Plug in Baby, get with the pprogram!
10:22 you took that from the muse wiki. the only reason I know this is that I was studying muse for an English assignment lol
What about Muse logo from 12 Monkeys , the film?
Sadly they are more of a niche band or crowd for them in certain areas for people covering them. Mostly people know them from what songs are on Twilight movies
Wow it's been 500 years since the last time I hear "pwoper fish" lol 😂
They are fishing at Wimbleball Lake. Recognise it :)
love exogenesis so much! Muse is easily the best band ever. (My opinion is the right one)
I feel like this iceberg isn’t rlly accurate
First, thanks algorithm
We love a favorable algorithm
Allllgorithms evoooollllve
Oh my, you left out SO much on the deep Muse levels! (Says the woman who owns a 2005 MuseBike, obtained by the Austin Crew after an international coalition helped solve the anagrams and encoded song titles on their mtvU tour.) And there is NO way that Tom Kirk is on the deepest level...
Tin-muth is how Teignmouth is pronounced :)
No joke... the only reason I wanted to play bass was because of the Hysteria bass riff. Which I can sort of jankily play. But you know what? I don't care. I don't play for anyone but me
