I saw them I think it was back in 2012 at a local 2 days music festival called Kanrocksas, they were headlining the 2nd night, eminem headed the first, and holy balls Muse was freaking awesome!! I had enjoyed their music before then, but their performance that night vaulted them into my top 3 favorite bands of all time. They are one of the last true arena rock bands, but they've evolved it beyond the poppy like bands that were considered arena rock.

Muse are not only my favorite band (with NIN being a tie), they are my favorite band to photograph. I became a concert photographer in 2009 and they were on my top 3 to shoot. I’ve photographed them several times and every time is both an inspiration and testament to their incredible creativity in their music and live production. That kind of energy they bring is unmatched in my opinion. My mom is not into modern rock at all, but I convinced her to go see them in Nashville on The 2nd Law tour, and even she said “Wow! They’re so talented!” If I can drag my boomer mom to a show and she is blown away, you know they’re doing everything right! 😂😄🎧🎼🎤🎸
Also, Will Of The People is incredible and a comfort in these uncertain times.

the thing about muse that I am amazed about is their organic growth. from unknown to well-known, and then become best live act in the world. man, that requires a lot of hard work. all they did was making good songs with great producers and they slowly grow from there. the niavity of matt not knowing about music history and learn from that, his curiosity and enthusiasm are what makes matt and muse phenomenal. despite their lyrically quite 'controversial' of how they talk about government and anti reliogion, yet they still rock on stage. you can see how each year and album, their music evolve from easy listening to truly experiencing the art itself. they don't need stupid rumours, cheap PR stunt or even br*be from internal connection (well I hope that's not the case). all purely by muse talented in playing instruments and genius lyrics. like damn who still does that these days?? granted they grew in the 2000s where there is no social media. but their hardwork from both muse and their manager really pays off. this documentary only cover showbiz - the resistance. wish there was a talk about their recent record WOTP bcos there are so much more to say after the resistance. the most three controversial albums ie T2L, drones and ST which most hated by fans lmfao. but tbh, only og muse fans hate them, there are fans who actually appreciate and enjoy their work. those commentors were quite biased from the first 4 album, but they sounds ambiguous about the resistance lol. I concur that 2007 was their global breakthrough. I remember they came to my country which we don't always get from international artist but they stop in our city! start to know them in 2009 which is why the resistance always be my fave

The warning i personally feel is kind of inspired by muse, and the girls probably do love muse growing up listening to them other than other band like metallica and others but yea what got the warning into my radar was their muse covers when they were younger then years and years later surprise, surprise they are on a metallica album that is full of covers by various artists. So y'know what muse should be proud that they are one of the reasons bands like the warning look up to them in a way. There are people look up to muse , there are people look up to Linkin park, these bands must be proud that they were able to inspire new upcoming bands nowadays

Knights of Cydonia is a very interesting, yet awesome song. When I'm ranking all of the Muse songs from best to worst it's one of the trickier songs to rank, but it's certainly in the top 10. The first 3 minutes of the song are extremely mediocre by Muse standards, but it builds up and sets the stage for one of the most epic minutes of music ever created and the song jams out and continues on a high level through the final 2 minutes of the song. But pretty much everyone is grinding through the first 3 minutes of the song to get to the part that sends chills down their spine. Now take a song like Bliss for example, which begins and remains on an epic level from the first second forward... just perhaps not at the insanely epic level that Knights of Cydonia hits at it's peak. I end up giving the edge to Bliss and some other Muse songs that are consistently amazing throughout, whereas I don't enjoy the first 3 minutes of Knights of Cydonia.

With MUSE, it would've been better to have a seat because of their production, and no need to take drugs, the adrenaline will be enough to bring on a heart attack....

I bought their 1999 album after hearing Sunburn . Fantastic album but they lost me when they began to sound like Ultravox with the song Uprising and stuff that sounded like bloody Queen ..if you’re buying indie bands in 1999 you generally won’t want to be hearing Queen tributes 10 years later as you’d probably been bored of Queen 30 years before . They didn’t need to ape that style in my humble opinion because those songs from early 2000s sounded fantastic 😁❤️

I started listening to them in 2011 or so, and I couldn’t agree more but with a different period of time in mind. I adore every song on their first 5 albums but even tho they are special to me, starting from “drones”, I haven’t been finding myself listening to any of their new tracks, sadly.
I believe, a band who’d been so experimental and “harsh” shouldnve named their songs “we’re fucking fucked” when we had amazing titles like “knights of cydonia” (the thing is not only in the title, but in them sounding too commercially influenced)

When Muse first started getting big, I was hooked. There was obviously a big Radiohead similarity there, but for the most part nothing really sounded like them. Lots of good songs early on. But I gotta admit that their sound gets a bit redundant from track to track. So I rarely listen to them these days, often needing a lot of time in between so as not to wear out my ears from their songs all kinda sounding the same. But I do enjoy their music more than most modern bands. Now, "modern day Beatles"? Not at all. Rick Rubin is a hyperbole machine. But they're certainly talented and put on a great live show. Something else most modern bands fail at.

    • @anzelaiv

That's funny, I found myself thinking the exact opposite. Although I generally need breaks in listening to music, Muse is that one band that keeps pulling me back into listening again and again, and it's the only band I don't get tired of. I can go for weeks without really listening to anything on purpose but accidentally hearing or remembering a Muse song will force me to go through their entire library full volume.
They have a distinct sound that can be perceived as "all the same" but each composition is so interesting and complex, each time I hear them there's something new to discover.

@@anzelaiv exactly, for me muse is pretty much the only band I've found that I can listen to a whole album in one go without feeling burnt out, and I've listened to quite a lot of bands. They certainly have a style and tone of melancholy their songs tend to stick to, but I find that each song experiments within that. Sadly I can't say the same about their new albums.

    • @marinatz9269
      @marinatz9269 Год назад +1

I have been listening to them for half a year now and still haven't burned out yet . I tried to listen to other of my favourite artists but they just sound now as glorious as they used to. Note that I am a " new fan" as I always liked them and knew many of their songs as I played "best of muse" videos, but when I really sat down and listened carefully to their music I realized what an out of this world this band is.

    • @derfalschejunge

I get the "sounds all the same" thing somewhat. It is what makes me listen to Rammstein for about a week and then not again for the next 12 months.
But in case of Muse I think it is just tue frame in which they actually vary quite a lot. They found a way to experiment with different styles and influences and still sound like Muse everytime.

My musician mate has been a huge fan since the start, but Matt's vocals and the writing did seem a poor mans Radiohead to me. Decades later I do understand what my mate was talking about. The bass is still my favourite part of this band, and Matt's vocals still grate on me in the same way Coldplay does.

It boggles my mind that Maverick wasn't impressed with Origin of Symmetry and didn't release it in the US. It's one of the greatest albums of all time. It does contain one of the worst songs I've ever heard in my life (Feeling Good), but aside from that the album is amazing. But I think it was more of a power play by Maverick because they didn't get their way in the changes they wanted to make, so they stubbornly held their ground. But It almost seems as though they were intentionally doing and asking ridiculous things of the band so the band would want to be released from their contract, but I don't understand the technicalities as to why that would seem advantageous to Maverick.Obviously a gargantuan mistake in hindsite, even though it was an obvious mistake during the present time as well. Had Maverick released it, it would have blown up who knows how much more than what it did.

They're ok but I think they sounded too much like a grandiose, second-tier Radiohead.
