One of the most talented musicians of our generation. Find me someone else with his vocal / guitar ability and his song writing prowess. I'll wait.

Hahahahahahahah
You are so right, no joke. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Why do the Brits ALWAYS birth the best rock bands? what's in the water?
you forgot about the piano!
You can listen the band "The Warning" ! Three young mexican sisters... They are Divine... And curiously they are also fan of Muse !
Still one of the best bands in the world. Very underrated.
This i agree. ❤ Also most dedicated and consistent ❤
Well they do sell out whole stadiums, not sure if underrated
True
Underrated? Really? Are you listening to them under a rock? They are THE best rock band of our time!
@@annabelcolingerjones4283 some peeps don't regard them as highly.
Matt talking about how he thought and made his music just blew my mind
It makes sense if you ask me.
Matt seems like the kind of guy who could talk to you about music and conspiracy theories for many hours. He sounds like he has a proper personality which you don't often see in entertainment.
He's so chi'd up in this interview. "It's like Disney...on ice." *or Peruvian c*caine 😳
I always wondered who Matt looks like and it finally dawned on me that it's Christian Bale.
Especially one who is often influenced by conspire theories in todays climate. He seeks to talk about them and understand rather than prescribe to them which makes him all the more appealing in my book
Pwopa*
@@drtenma3744 he looks like Leo Messi
I like how he’s an actual human explaining the creative process, unlike other musicians with a ridiculous facade, pretending to be some kind of enigma.
i love the fact that Matt is so self-aware and doesn't take himself too seriously, that's why I think Muse has been such a fluidic band all these years
Yeah I love that in a video making of 2law they were recording Survival and there were the part where people did a backing low register vocals, and suddenly Matt just cracked into laughter and just couldn't stop 😂
Also during recording the Resistance he was talking about United states of Eurasia and how it was influenced by the dark geopolitical thoughts. And then how they come up with a line "when there can be only one!" with Queen style vocal. And Matt said "how can you not laugh at this?" He really don't take himself too seriously and I this that's great
@@spacedementia1213 You must hear his laughter in the incredible "Sit the fuck down" video! 🤣
Yes! my favorite thing about Muse is how goofy they are and they don't take themselves too seriously.
Matt Bellamy is a musical genius 💗
🤘🏻🤘🏻🎤🎤🌹
The best of his generation !!!
I love hearing Matt talk about music.
The BEST live band I’ve ever seen. I’ll never forget that show.
monkey, 100% no one I've seen is close. for me best 3 peice and best and best band since early 2000s for me
Yeah bro! They were lit up there
Then u didnt see rammstein or coldplay live
Yeah best live band for sure!
One of the best.
Seen them on most tours now and it's just an incredible live show that gets bigger and better. They are totally where they deserve to be.
They are not. They deserve tp be higher in the likes of Queen, Led Zepplin, The Beatles. But that will happen in 20 years. People will remember Muse as one of the best of all time. It's just a matter of time.
My favourite English, and iconic band (where I even played as a tribute band) to seeing them get inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame is: The Cure!
I predict MUSE should be eligible in no time!
I was obsessed with Muse for a while, I played the same 4 CDs over and over. His vocals, the lyrics, melodies, musicality and production was just phenomenal
Their ability to adapt and change styles is exactly why they are one of the best groups in my opinion, the stage shows are also something to behold!
Yes, WOTP album is proof they can do anything, put their own unique twits on it and make it sound phenomenal... They are one of a kind, incredible musicians/performers.
I met him in London 4 years ago. He is as nice and humble and he looks on this video. Really nice lad, we had a chat about music and life. Best day ever!
Wow, that's awesome! I'm not jealous 😂
Met him before and he's really down to earth, same with dom and chris
Absolution is a modern rock n roll masterpiece…whole album blew my 19 yr old mind at the time
That and black holes was high school for me haha
Totally agree with that comment! I was 14 when I first heard absolution album for the first time and it was a mind blown eye opener and I knew then that muse was going to be my favourite band ever!!
Black Holes and Revelations was the album that got me into Muse in High School, then my friend got me a CD of Resistance for my Birthday when that came out. Huge Muse fan 🔥🤘👏🙌👊💖🔥
Dude YES. Absolution is a masterpiece from track to track and not a single line or melody ever gets old. It so perfectly encompasses the mood and sense it's trying to convey, when I first heard the tracks, they really spoke to me on a deep level.
I will never stop loving Absolution.
Same. I used to play Stockholme Syndrome loud and on repeat in the gym. Gets you training harder than the Rocky soundtrack!
His voice is an amazing insrument he is a humble guy. God bless him
I’m 66 and still love muse and go to see them live every chance I get.
In my opinion, one of the most talented musicians around using talent as opposed to machines. However, he certainly is not your typical stereotype rocker. He's a class of his own in Rock music.
It has been so long since we saw a healthy, sober, happy band leader.
love this little man
A true short king 👑
i love him too cassette
@@damiibeam glad you agree damascus prime
It’s funny how back in the day when the 2nd law was released I really hated their sound “because I wanted the old Muse sound”. But after all these years of getting more excited about each album as I turn older, it’s actually really awesome they just do so many experimental stuff in albums! 🤗
@🤘🏻🤘🏻🎤🎤🌹
same! I was also dumb during T2L era and whining about wanting old muse. now I'm just glad whatever sounds they put in the album. in fact most 'hated' album Simulation Theory is in my top 3! they're incredible in whatever genre, still has that familiar muse sound. when you shuffle their whole discography, it's actually sounds really good. you got multiple style from one band?? mind boggling
The albums “2nd law” and “Drones” have songs that are so much more technical, worked and musically accomplished than the songs from the first albums…
Incredibly talented dude…REAL music
Seeing Muse live last night for the first time ever since it was my first ever concert....has changed my life,
especially seeing them from the Pit it was bliss.
Matt, Chris and Dom are simply divine.
Their concerts are fire! Matt is a master!
No false humility or bravado in someone that talented. That's so cool.
Matt is underrated as a guitarist as was Prince. Other than dancing he reminds me a lot of Prince. Excellent musician, super talented songwriter, tremendous live and knows how to throw a concert!!!
Infectious enthusiasm and a musical genius. Imagine being in the studio with him when he is creating...would be amazing. He is so proud of Muse. The live shows make my heart beat faster.
So thankful that Matt did not fall down the slope of losing himself and control to the point of losing him too early, which has been a sad tragedy of many of the most visible front men that were born around the same time and similar genre. And coupling that with the consistent ability to churn out solid and unique music over such a long time. Without a doubt one of the greatest, if not the greatest, rock bands over the past 20 years.
Matt is insanely talented. Muse is just awesome!!!
All three of them are out of this world talented... Chris especially doesn't get enough airtime or recognition, one of the best rock bassists to ever exist... Best band I've seen live by a country mile.
Matt keeps saying that The 2nd Law had clarinet solos but it's actually from The Resistance lol
Yeah ahahah
its been known he has short term memory.
@@siegedoyle you're right, we all have short term memory
He believes 'I belong to you' is on 2nd Law 🤣
Clearly Matt's just done too much time travel, and in his head I Belong To You was on The 2nd Law 😂
Matt is a musical genius!
I could listen to him talk about his music and influences all damn day. What a legend.
Death metal and Prince on one track? Yes please! Always knew there was a massive Prince influence on Super Massive Black Hole, it’s not just the delivery it’s also the lyrics, they’re typical early Prince ‘lover scorned’ themed where he has been wronged by his lover.
Only one word for you,Matt:great!!my idol!❤️
Fantastic musician and band. A truly original band. Love how they reach outside the box on their albums and keep the listener guessing.
One of the biggest artists of the century
Saw them in Austin last century sometime. They were incredible, I love them! Matt is amazingly intelligent and articulate, it's fun to try to keep up with him.
Awwww.....I miss Muse. Most of their stuff since Resistance hasn't been my jam, but I still love the three of them, their artistry, and goofiness. Great hearing Matt talk about the process as always.
Same kinda fell off Muse after the Resistance album, but whenever they release a new song I check it out and I am usually not disappointed by what I hear. Muse are exceptional musicians and songwriters, especially Matt Bellamy. The guy is a wizard aha, keep on rocking out friend! 🔥🤘👏🙌👊💖🎶🔥
It never ceases to amaze me how stage Matt Bellamy is (in my opinion 😂) the sexiest man alive, but when I hear him interviewed I want to cuddle him like I would a puppy😂🤣😂 Love this man❤
🤘🏻🤘🏻🎤🎤🌹
it's crazy right how they look all cool, rock n roll on stage. but off stage they're really silly and goofy. matt still has that child like behaviour lol. even dom can't take his attitude sometimes. but that just how a long life friendship was built. many people also perceive muse that way as a cool musician, but behind the scene they're much calm and down to earth 😊
The career of these 3 guys is studded with incredible tracks that span different musical styles. They are talents who ride the crest of the wave and continue to churn out good music by adapting their style to the demands of the public and to musical evolution. I have listened to them live several times and will listen to them again. For me they are undoubtedly the best in recent times.

Madness is one of the best slow songs of Muse. Really deep. Especially the ending: "I need to love...."

Thank you Muse for the electrifying, stadium rocking & memorable concert on 29th of July 2023 in KL, Malaysia !!!

Can't help my heart melting from watching this. More than 10 years with the guys and we're still rocking 💖
I love the last album, Will of The People. Verona is one of my favorite songs, it's really emotional...Hopefully they can bring their show back to Argentina. We Love 🇦🇷❤
Un temazo!
Verona is incredible! I love listening to the album getting to killed or be killed and the cherry on the top is Verona after :)
When I first saw muse late at night as a sixteen year old on rage in Australia in 2000 they blew my mind. Then I saw them at big day out 2004 and was blown away by their massive sound for a three piece, and matts otherworldly celestial Christmas lights adorned organ. Muse at the time was a good soundtrack to teenage angst
Muse are just simply AWESOME! The only band that has kept me on board half my life! ❤
I didn’t really get into them on the first couple albums, but after seeing clips from the live at Wembely DVD that just blew my mind (especially the ending with Take A Bow, wow!) I dove head first in. I’ve seen every tour since ‘09 and they are all incredible shows. Definitely one of the best live bands with fantastic shows and great messages. Nothing better than singing or shouting along to live Muse, goosebumps baby lol
My industrial deafness can be directly attributed to riding around in the back of my mates car circa 97-00 with muse, rage, korn, pantera cranking.
Muse was life changing for me, ive seen them about 6 or 7 times at Aussie festivals and I've always got them on rotation on my play lists.
Muscle museum, plug in baby, uno and micro cuts have to be my favourites.
Such an epic band.
Been loving Muse since I discovered them and will forever do so! Legends
So exciting to learn the history behind Muse’s songs. I really enjoyed this video. Thank you!👍🏼
I love the fact that Matt is a Prince fan! I guess that added that extra fragrance to Muse that got me in 2002.
I literally checked if the video playback is set to 1.5x speed lol. He's speaking so fast.. It was so nice to hear this breakdown from Matt.. I'd love to hear some things about the City of Delusion, my all-time favorite. And Map of the Problematuque.. And Citizen Erased.. And Animals.. And Dead Inside.. The list goes on and on.. This guys changed my life.. "You make me feel like it's Halloween" is awesome by the way. Thanks Matt!
Nice interview. Matt is a gem. I've been a casual fan of Muse for years but it's only since WOTP was released that I started appreciating them more and revisiting their older stuff. And then I fell into a rabbit hole of watching their performance videos as well as random silly videos/interviews and now I just have to see them live in person. I've watched videos of their current tour performances but it's not the same as actually being there.

I too have adopted a 100% Hawaiian shirt wardrobe. It’s like yoga pants for an aging adult man. Flattering to the beer/whiskey gut, unapologetic and cheerful.
It's weird being used to Matt wearing all his weird outfits to looking like a middle aged tourist

He's actually slowed down a lot compared to when they started out 😂😂 I used to follow them around back in those days and as a non native speaker it was hard to keep up with him most of the time haha
Matt Bellamy may have cited Prince as an influence for Super Massive Black Hole but I swear it also sounds a lot like and reminds me so much of Young Lust by Pink Floyd from The Wall!
Don’t know if you know but Madness has Queen influence.

So glad he mentioned KoRn, I am hearing a lot of that in his recent guitar work. It’s excellent
Incredible band
I saw them live around 2004 or so and I was blown away by Mat's talent; this guy would sing like a soprano, play guitar like a rock-god and play piano on top of everything else. They rocked then and now they have an important message to convey...
I am SO excited to see them in March!

One of the band they i followed through a year n year.. The best👍👍
Fantastic live !!!
At 4:54 he's talking about psycho and having that riff for a long time. When I heard it on Drones I thought I had heard it before. Just today I had on the Wembley Stadium concert and they do play that riff at 1:27:00 after Stockholm Syndrome just like he says here. The same as that "JFK" intro before "Defector" that they also use on Drones. I saw them do that live in Mesa, Arizona in 2003. They put the speech up on screen as JFK spoke. It was a really cool moment and then to hear it on the album 15 years later feels like I was in on a little secret.
In 2003?! I recall the JFK speech used on the 2007 tour. 2003 was before I knew of Muse's existence. Did you see them in 2007 somewhere? (I am not doubting your memory, just trying to nail this down. I'd like to think I'm a pretty big Muse nerd)
@@wewantthecup You're right, good call. I looked it up. It was Sept 20, 2007. I was thinking it was when I was living at one place when it was the other so I misremembered. Juliette Lewis had a band at the time and she opened for them. In fact, the 4 times I've seen them it's been a "female" band that opens for them.
Saw them live in Shanghai pre-covid, amazing show!
Awesome video explaining some of the inspiration behind some killer tunes. Not my favourite band, I like too many but THE best band to see live. Awesome gigs at Wembley and the Ricoh spring to mind !

I LLLOVE the heavy metal in 'Won't Stand Down'. MUSE can go HEAVY when they want to. The depth and breadth of their music is phenomenal. My only complaint about the song is the heavy breakdown is too short, I want it to keep going and going.

Great interview. Always credit for evolving and nodding to influences- but would love them to revisit and focus on "their sound" and music. They don't need Queen, Prince, Korn etc references. Explore the wierd, epic galaxy and rock sounds.
Brilliant as always ❤
