    What is your favorite current Seamaster dive watch and watch in the catalog as a whole? ALSO, one correction, this watch is a master Co-Axial chronometer but is not METAS certified. Despite this watch maintaining a heavy presence in the Seamaster catalog, I think so much of the line's marketing/resources have been carried by the Diver 300M over the last several decades with the James Bond connection. Looking forward, I feel it is time for a refresh soon and this watch (in my opinion) serves as a great place to look in my eyes. This currently is my favorite Seamaster diver offered, however, thinning the case, updating the bracelet to be all brushed instead of the high polish, providing more dial color options (in stainless steel), and providing options for those that might not like the faux patina could go a long way in disrupting the competitive range of divers available in the price range. Thanks again for watching and supporting me!

    Hey Teddy, I recently bought this watch and I smile every time I look at it. It's absolutely gorgeous and plays well with lighting. It just looks so different depending on what kind of lighting hits it. That ceramic sandblasted dial is such a treat in direct lighting, offsets the midnight black gloss of the ceramic bezel perfectly. The movement in mine is about 1 sec a day fast, and my only concern is it's definitely a scratch magnet. I'm learning to cope though.
    I switch it constantly from the NATO strap to the bracelet, both look phenomenal, but from a distance, it screams mystery and elegance with the bond nato. An the round size is perfect.
    Thanks for the beautiful review, you're right.

    Teddy, thank you for always putting in the lug to lug in your videos. I don't understand why other watch reviewers don't think that lug to lug width isn't important because that's one of the biggest factors for selecting a watch beyond just case size for me. Knowing this is huge for evaluating the wearability of a watch if I can't try it on in person.

    I bought this watch in December 2014 and have loved it for almost full 7 years. I think I love it now even more than the first few months when I bought it. You can dress it up or down. You can go to a boardroom with it, or to the beach and go swimming, diving and/or fishing. A fantastic watch, whose value will only grow. But regardless, I will never sell it. How good this watch is is shown by the fact that it's retail price is $ 300 more than the second generation Seamaster 300 from 2021. The only 2 advantages of the second generation are: 1.) it is thinner and 2.) center links on the bracelet are brushed rather than polished.

    These are amazing watches... I have the spectre version of this but I have to say, The Seamaster 300 1957 Trilogy is the one (which I also own). Its 39mm size is just so perfect in every way it's a reissue of the ck2913 and let's face it why not!!! It's the perfect timepiece for the 21st century gent with all the modern movements. I also have the tudor black bay 58 and the 300 trilogy takes 1st place everytime. It's the same case diameter as the black bay 58 (39mm) However due to its styling looks a little bigger and sits really well on the wrist.
    I've bought and sold so many different models over the years of so many different brands but I always come back to Omega and the Seamaster 300 trilogy or my Seamaster 300 Spectre are bang on perfect. They just wear really really well and are so well made.
    Great video, and if I didnt have the spectre model which is almost the same as this then I'd bag one of these too.
    If you can, try the 1957 Trilogy 300 for a weekend and do a video on it.. You will quickly be turned...👍👌

      I recently bought the Spectre version - the symmetry of the 12 hr bezel, lollipop second hand, elimination of the 12 to clean up the top of the dial and the all brushed bracelet were all elements that I preferred over the “standard” version. While not super limited at 7007, there are only a handful available at any time with the full kit and papers, which made the steeper price tag more palatable than say current street pricing for a Submariner where there are so many available.

    I own it along with the original Bond Seamaster (Quartz version). This is one of my favorites in my collection and probably the one that gets the most wear next to my Navitimer. As far as bang for the buck I can’t think of a better watch. I found mine new at an AD for $4,300 and for that you are getting a very accurate in house movement with 15,000 Gauss magnetic protection and a 60 hour power reserve. Plus the build quality and how it sits on your wrist is excellent. Some will be off put by its thickness but on the wrist it sits much slimmer because of the contoured side profile, like you said much different than the Tudor Black Bay. Also I don’t really see it as fake patina as much as I see it as a more subdued, alternate color to pure white on the dial. The subdued beige/white looks great in person in my opinion.
    Anyways, once again a great review Teddy. Well done.

    I believe Omega sees this model as the flagship in the seamaster line as they have released many variations using precious metals such as platinum and gold, not to mention the use of exotic materials like those used on the crazy blue and green dials. I own a steel model myself, and I have to admit that I like it a lot more over my no date sub. The omega has much more personality, even if the overall fit and finish of the sub is slightly better. Great review teddy, I'm a big fan!

    • @TeddyBaldassarre
      @TeddyBaldassarre  4 года назад +2

      I think you might be right but what OMEGA thinks internally and what they project with their offering is sometimes different haha. I feel like the Seamaster Diver 300M is their moneymaker ever since Goldeneye. Looking at the amount of skus too, the Diver 300M has 3 times the amount of variations to that of this line. I think there is more to be done here as I agree, there is tons of charm here. Thanks for watching and appreciate the support, David!

    • @davidkang89
      @davidkang89 4 года назад

      @@TeddyBaldassarre I see what you mean and couldn't agree more, there's definitely some confusion on their business decisions, and that's being translated in their messy product line and confusing marketing. I also agree that some minor tweaks would make this watch even better, I'm just wishing that they don't go too crazy on the variations of this model and make the already confusing catalog even more crowded. Thanks for the reply mate, keep the good work!

    A very good video of a very underrated Omega imo. I just got it last month and I love it. It looks so good on the Omega Bond nato strap which is what I've been wearing mine with since getting it.
    What's not to love about it? Well some don't really like the lugs, but it has never bothered me. Its really underrated imo. It has tech that is really overlooked. In particular the Liquidmetal ceramic bezel that the SMP 2018 doesn't have. You forgot to mention the liquidmetal markings on the bezel of the watch. I also love the sand-blasted dial and the laser cut indices with the lume filled into them. All great technical processes that makes the watch what it is that looks understated and sadly overlooked by many. The more I look at the details of the watch closely, the more I appreciate what went into making it.
    Glad to say I'm a proud owner of this watch!
    Oh and by the way the patina on this isn't as bad as some have made it out to be. I think it looks fine. The new No Time To Die Bond watch for instance has patina screaming in your face compared to this one here.

Much more subdued and Omega did the right thing with mass producing the master co-axial chronometer movement.

    Bought a BB58 instead of this and whilst I like it, still have the 300 on my mind...can’t justify two vintage style divers and also keen on a sapphire sandwich Speedmaster. Any thoughts on this vs the BB58?

    • @dstfno
      @dstfno 4 года назад +1

      The Omega is definitely a step up in quality but is also a bigger and thicker watch. The BB58 feels more vintage because it's smaller and thinner, and easier to pull off on a small wrist.

    My favorite from this line is the Spectre. For your average everyday person, no one NEEDS a diver's watch. The Spectre offers the same specs but with an extremely useful "dual time" bezel that comes in handy if you're traveling. Just wish it wasn't a limited run production and that this bezel would become a regular option for those who don't NEED a diver's bezel.

    I am one of the few lucky ones that has the Limited edition Spectre... Present from my wife several years ago. I don't wear it too often b/c of my rotation in collections, but 1 gripe I definitely have is the bracelet. It has very unrefined link edges that feel sharp. Problem solved changing to a leather strap. Very classy and respectable watch. Keeps excellent time, and I actually do use the bezel to rotate it to a different time zone!

    I really wanted this watch...until I laid my eyes upon the 58. I love Omega and have both a Speedy and a blue SMPc, but for my plain black diver, it's the Tudor that won my wrist. If this were significantly thinner and 39-40mm, it would have been a closer race.

    Personally, I'm all ALL IN with Tudor. , More specifically, Tudor's Heritage Black Bay line up gets my nod & wink of approval. As a U. S. Marine, having learn ed the history of Tudor supplying my sister service, with tutor dive watches for many years prior, I feel a connection with The Brand! My first "REAL" timepiece was the Reference 79220B. Last Friday, I was blessed and able to acquire one of my Tudor "Holy Grail" models, Reference 79230R! I really love their direction Tudor took with the vintage appeal and new in-house Caliber MT5602 movement; EXCELLENT!
    Having said that, THIS specific Omega model has always caught my eye with its seemingly vintage aesthetics!
    I enjoy the lack of a date complication, faux patina and similar to my Tudor the ALMOST-smoothed machined bezel edge which provides just enough grip texture for rotation, without the unappealing appearance of chunky knurling. With this watch and all aforementioned features I enjoy, the broadsword hands by far, are my FAVORITE!
    I have targeted four more watches I need to acquire, and This very specific model Omega is the ONLY Non-Tudor model I desire!
    You did an OUTSTANDING review, I sincerely enjoyed it, the accompanying watch details and I have SUBSCRIBED as a result!👍
    I totally agree with you, Omega should HIGHLY consider, Listening to current as well as potential buyers to see if there would be a interest, venturing out and providing a few variations of this specific model. I feel it would attract more non-Omega (Don't confuse me with being anti-Omega!) Watch Lovers like myself to the brand; possibly introducing us to other models within Omega's lineup!
    Semper Fi! ⚡⚡💪🏾

    Great review! What a beauty. I really like the waveless diver, it has such depth to the dial, although I wish they’d lose the He escape valve, which serves no purpose whatsoever, even though I’m a diver. The review model is a real classic though.👍

      I have this watch and I really love it. I'm OK with the 41mm and overall dimensions of the watch but I'd be lying if I did not wish it were 2-3 mm less thick. I have looked into the 57' heritage limited edition watch. But I don't find that overall design as attractive as this watch, and the fact that it is a limited edition drives up prices beyond what seems reasonable to me in comparison with competing models from the same brand.

    I have this watch in the blue titanium. It’s a favorite of mine but it’s a fingerprint magnet. The bracelet is so good that a nato or other strap just doesn’t do it justice. A solid Sub competitor. Great video man!

    • @mrgarypettit
      @mrgarypettit 4 года назад

      Jared Wolf I have the same one in titanium as well, and it is a fingerprint magnet. I keep a plastic tub of liquid jewelry polish and drop in in there for 20 seconds-all good again.

    • @jaredwolf9638
      @jaredwolf9638 4 года назад

      Gary Pettit - oh that’s an interesting idea. Do you put the whole watch in or just dip the bracelet? That probably makes it super shiny! Thanks

    • @mrgarypettit
      @mrgarypettit 4 года назад +1

      Jared Wolf I drop the whole think into the almost water-like fluid, swish it around and run it under warm water afterwards while moving the bezel a bit so none of the wash stays in there. I figured if it’s good to 300 meters, the whole thing can go in.

    I own this watch and it is probably the watch that I wear the most. I have a descent collection with a Rolex Datejust II, a Tudor BB GMT, Omega Globemaster, several Tags and other options... but this is try go to. I think it is undercover cool. I see so many Subs, and this feels so different and cool with the glossy but subdued dial and bezel.

    Will have to take a closer look. Lots to like about this understated yet classy looking piece. I actually much prefer the arrow on the hour hand rather than the Aquaterra configuration which looks off to me. No silly helium escape cup cake wart on the case which just shows how redundant that is with an amazing 300m depth rating so you can play in the sea or any swimming pool with confidence on the bracelet. Nice adjustability too. It’ll wear quiety on the wrist and seems versatile for strap option comparability but in house only as the dreaded 21mm sizing kills off lots of after market options. Funny how 21mm is creeping in though maybe it’ll be a standard sizing in a few years. The other plus is that other Omegas get all the attention while this one you just won’t see around so often which is cool. Nice presentation as always Sir.

    Very nice elegant vintage style. Although I like the waives on the dial and think that the escape valve has became an icon detail for the seamaster, I love that piece. It shows how versatile Omega can be.

    Have the Spectre edition, awesome piece. FYI I don’t think the 8400 is a METAS Master Chronometer technically, spec’d to -0/+6 I believe. That said, I don’t think anything really changed technically from this movement to the first generation of Master Chronometer movements that were released soon after.

    This really is a beauty, love that classic look, my favorite model is the one I own that I think shares more dna with the 300 then any other modern Omega diver which is my first generation Seamaster Planet Ocean 2500 42mm matte black dial/ black bezel with white 6, 9 and 12 numerals, it's still a modern Omega diver that shares many of the same design cues of the 300 and classic Omega divers from the past that the newer Planet Oceans just don't, mine is from 2010 and in my opinion will never look dated, especially my particular version, love my PO 2500. It will never leave my possession.

    I'm partial to the Seamaster 300 pro with the vintage sword hands. There's something about those hands and having the minute markers all around the bezel that makes it seem like the ultimate tool watch.

    Looks to me as though Omega has hit the sweet-spot with this one and I agree, they could rival the Sub here if they add some subtle variants. Crown guards, colour, etc.

    Good points! My biggest objection to this one is how similar it is to a Sub. The Diver 300 has developed its own look that has become iconic in the last 25 years and is a much different looking yet quality alternative to the Sub as well as allowing them to both exist in a collection a bit better. I did try on the titatanium blue dial version of this but it didn't sing much to me.
