      Waiting for the fools to pay thousands over MSRP and then buy their low miles used car a few years later… just like I did with the GT350 🤷‍♂️

    Dealerships are the powerhouse decision makers. Now, of all times, they have the ability to change the dealership network. There should be a direct ordering through the manufacturer and have service lots where the vehicles can be serviced. Tesla does it and I hope everyone else jumps on board. Dealerships are scams and manufacturers need to change the model.

    Excellent video! Just went through this run around when I was looking to order a 22 Camaro ZL1 1LE … Talked to over 20 dealerships and most wanted markup and couldn’t promise much as far as an allocation. I put a deposit at a local Chevy dealer in October 2021 and I finally got the call last week that they had an allocation for me. No markup and it will be manufactured the week of 5/16 so I lucked out. Good luck with the GT500 from a fellow Texan.

    Bro, I was trying to get a Maverick XLT. Raceway Ford marked it up $10k. They were trying to get $33k on a little truck that’s msrp is $23k. Dealerships are nuts.

    Comment for the algorithm bc this was a great take. I got a new job in 2020 and doubled my salary and have been trying to guy a new, fun car ever since. But these dealers are out of their minds, and I can’t believe they continue to find some sucker pay it. This post is 7 months after the video, and now we see a huge rise in repos and people underwater on their car loans bc they paid over MSRP, so I’m hoping we’re at a turning point to start heading back to normal. But man it has been PAINFUL to sit on my hands these last few years. Everything I’ve done with my life has been to get money to get nice cars. And now I have the money but there’s no cars for sale, terribly unlucky

    Everything about this video reminded me why I dislike car dealerships and why I have absolutely no problem with bending them over, or avoiding them altogether whenever I can. I use every single tool available. Namely - relatives. lol But honestly, almost every one of these dealers that was called was lazy, arrogant and silly. It reminded me that that industry is ripe for a major overhaul... and it'll happen. It'll come with lawsuits a plenty, but a direct to consumer model with service locations. Sure some people will need a vehicle (actually NEED vs. want) and won't be able to wait - and that will still be able to happen. But for an enthusiast, there are still creative ways to get into a model build/offering.
    Hey I don't begrudge the companies or dealers for wanting to make money. If you really want x vehicle, and everybody wants it, then it is what it is. I do think it's a little weird though if a Toyota Corolla for ex. is selling at 5k over MSRP (let alone invoice). But that's today. People seem a little upset at the dealers, but I think it's sad because any way I look at it, they seem to be on borrowed time.

    You bring up a lot of good valid points about the current buying experience and the greed of the dealerships. It is infuriating to be told that the car you had wanted to buy is marked up by 10k or 15k... Fortunately, there still are dealerships that don't charge the dreaded ADMs but it might require you to look/travel/buy further away from your area. Good content. Subsrcibed

    Speed fee-nom. Like, phenomenon.
    To be honest. I am curious what will happen with pricing and dealer interaction if/when the market normalizes. The market ebs and flows, naturally. Right now, it's crazy, but this isn't the new norm forever.

    In this market dealers are basically a private company buying wholesale cars from a manufacturer and then reselling. Your basically buying a used car a dealer bought from a manufacturer. I believe gm is going to be trying something different with dealers with the Z06 and how they allocate cars to dealerships stating that dealers charging mark ups might get their allocations reduced. Tesla has the direct from manufacturer model and they basically control pricing directly.

    Brandon, I had a very similar issue with my 19 Bullitt. Dropped my car off sat there for over a week. They said they heard the issue. Then when they went to diagnose, they blamed it on engine noise. Had to fight with them to get them to actually do their job and they ended up replacing the whole driveshaft. All this is happening while it’s our only car, no loaner and we’re borrowing a 14 gt from a friend. I was ready to sell leave for ford for ever.

      Man that is just too unfortunate. I thought my situation was a nightmare but come to find out it is no anomaly. Service advisors just want you in and out. Otherwise they’ll hold onto your car for longer than they needed to.

    It really is kind of annoying (and frankly terrible) that more larger automotive youtubers would address this issue. I haven't seen Donut's video about it yet, but considering their audience, I think it's an extremely important and helpful video to bring to light this issue. Its the ones that keep doing their own thing, in their own bubble, seemingly avoiding the real world and only talking, like you said, about the heritage, the ability of the car, what the car is, instead of "hey how are people supposed to buy these haha".
    It's frustrating as a new enthusiast, and I probably won't be able to buy a new car (or any car) for a while

    • @TexasRevving
      @TexasRevving  2 года назад

      Exactly, these are exciting cars we’re talking about so we want to know all those nitty-gritty details but when it comes down to it, we have to know if we can buy them at all haha. Reviewers need to stop pretending to be excited about the MSRP, they know well that doesn’t mean a thing anymore.

    • @TimMug
      @TimMug 2 года назад +1

      I think interest rates are extremely low, so people are taking out insane loans to put these cars in their driveway.

    • @TexasRevving
      @TexasRevving  2 года назад +1

      As Tim mentioned, crazy low interest rates are certainly something to do with it. I think overall the collector car community has grown a ton over the last decade. Something else that might contribute to it is a lot of conspicuous consumption. Everyone wants something not just for what it provides, but just for the sake of it being hard to obtain. Which is pretty unfortunate.

    I just bought a Tesla Model S Plaid. The fastest accelerating car ever made for $140K. 0 mark up. 0 hassle. Ordered on my phone. Took 20 minutes. Arrived for delivery 2 months after order. Try doing that with any other auto maker, foreign or domestic. I’m not a fan boy but Tesla is the future.
