In this video I'm comparing my 2017 Shelby Mustang GT350 and my 2021 Shelby Mustang GT500. Both are the S550 chassis but, they are just so different from each other that owning both has been an absolute dream come true. So differ in fact, that I'll try illustrating that in this video by talking about them and taking them for a drive. Which one is right for you?
great video, thanks and yeah the GT350 sounds so much like the original '65 plus it's more of a road car so I think I'm gunna forgo the extra hp of the GT500 and go with the GT350....if I can find one next spring..:)
Love the blue on the GT350. Outside of that I would choose the GT500. The cold start on the GT500 is the best sound that I ever heard coming from a car. The GT350 feels more like a sports car and the GT500 more like a muscle car. One can't go wrong with either vehicle. Some people are lucky enough to own both. 😀
Good video and I definitely agree with your assessment on both cars. This is why you need both. I hope that you get the GTD. That’s also another amazing car‼️‼️ Cheers 👍👊💪😎🇺🇸
I love my Gen 2 GT.. I found a 17 PP1 manual with 8,909 miles with only 1 other owner.. It's been like buying a brand new car.. I just hit 12,200 miles on her still.. It's been a blast....
Had the 2017 gt PPc recaros n naturally- manual/ tracked it til I got the 21 Mach 1 handling pk also recaros n manual (no brainer). Was my fav all time car - til I put into wall at Watkins Glen w 2k miles. Smfh 😭🧨. Took weeks to decide what to do. Opted for 17 gt 350 Only bc the powerband was nt n day w the M1 n 17 gt (u don’t hear abt this much but I am living proof). I liked the Mach’s exhaust slightly better - throatier - imo coolest exhaust out there but tracking n even driving the 350- w long tube headers etc- it’s a BEAST! Best sounding car on track by far- lil ‘raspy’ for my like (vs the Mach) but again- at 4k rpm on up/ it’s a Diff Animal! Shockingly the Mach n 17 gt pp were abt neck n neck at track. Lil let down/ point is it’s NOT worth the price point. That 17 pp1 was dollar for dollar the Best move I made. Out the door, knew it was $45k. I crushed so many Porsches , scats at track- and I’m only an average driver but w balls lol. Had ‘typ’ oil leak I feared when I bought the 17 Shelby w 8500 miles n a bud who works for ford was cool enough to run the vin n said there’s a TSB (n recall) out in it- tsb was for oil housing kit, couple washers , the ‘paper filter’ n oil- low n behold that solved the leak!! It’s race red w sick Blk stripes n white pinstripe on the outer edge of that. Think the 19 350’s are the way to go. But love this 17!!
Nothing immature about loving the sound of that engine roaring. Anyone who doesn't like it is either stuck up or doesn't appreciate performance vehicles. I'm not a mustang person at all, but there is no better sound.
I want a GT350 more, but part of me wants to do the GT500 front bumper and spoiler on it... it feels morally wrong but I think it matches the manual better
I have owned a 2016 Shelby GT350 since New and can’t seem to make the change to the 2020 GT500 with the Automatic transmission. I Love the standard transmission so much more.
I'm genuinely curious how you have all this money, not being a smart aleck, but man if this is from RUclips...I'm definitely going to step up my game. Love your videos, very helpful.
I have not driven a GT500, but I think my 2019 GT350 would give a more well rounded driving experience with it's attributes of suspension, motor and transmission. Driving a sports car with a manual is an ageless combination.
Not the right video but on the topic, the 2013, 14 GT500 is my favorite mustang ever made. I own a 2013 supercharged GT and I’ll never get rid of it but I definitely want to add a 14 500 and hopefully a GT350R
A little biased, but I love my GT350R!!! Don’t get me wrong the GT500 is special. Something about the GT350R just feels like it’s own class of special.
11:42 I thought I was crazy when I noticed this on the GT500, but whenever you walk to close to the rear of the GT500 (while off) the valves open or close LOL
no manual in the 500 is a huge bummer. I get that automatics are better, and im sure its just as fun to drive with an automatic, its just not a muscle car thing
I really wanted a gt350r but when I looked into them I couldn’t believe how easily the engines break, the second gens voodoos are better but still have issue. I need the peace of mind of the engine being reliable. That car would give me anxiety every time I would redline it
@@rhatala27 no the issue with these motors is to much vibration, that’s why they scraped the voodoo all together. Gen 2 are better but are blowing just as frequently, amazing experience just not reliable enough for pockets
@@MindyLou Mmmm, from the cases I've heard of it is oil consumption issues. Routine oil changes and routine peeks at the dip stick and you're all good. There's plenty of these that have 50k + miles that live on the track with no issues.
@@MindyLou That just isn't true. Yes they vibrate, but they absolutely do not die at the same rate, and in fact are quite reliable, even if the upkeep is more expensive. The statistics simply don't support that claim
@@rhatala27 I literally heard this from the engineers. Yes the oil consumption is a issue, but vibration is such a issue that literally can causes the headers to crack. If you own one of these vehicles, you can just speak to guys at ford performance they’ll gladly speak to you. There’s also a good video on RUclips where this guy interviews the engineer that made the predator motor I believe he was speaking about what they changed on the raptor r predator engine, and he also talks about why they walked away from the voodoo. I really do love these cars and obviously they’ll both go down as some of the best fords ever made for sure
I think the gt350s potential is way higher than gt500. It weighs 600 pounds less than gt500, and you can add forced induction to it if you want to have the same or more hp as gt500 in a much lighter package. I also think the gt350 has a better-looking body kit than the gt500. Im not a fan of the open moith grill design in the gt500. A supercharger or turbos plus an appropriate intercooler will not weigh 600 lbs, so if you want your gt350 to be as powerful as gt500, but without the 4,000 lb weigt penalty, I would go that route.
