That's exactly what I did about 3 years ago, sold my Audi and got the 350R and then immediately bought a Honda Civic. Going from the R to a Civic makes you appreciate how awesome the Shelby really is.

I personally will go with the GT350R, couple things why…
    1. How Rare the car is
    2. The Interior
    3. The Sound of the car is more Raw
    4. 6 Speed Manual
    5. History of the GT350’s

To me the GT350 looks better in the front than the giant mouth of the GT500 - the black trim between the grilles. Also prefer the front fender vents of the GT350 over the plain fenders. And I love the analog tachometer in the GT350. I've driven the GT500 about 1000 miles and had about 5 minutes as a passenger in a GT350R. The GT500 is spectacular in that it's so easy for anyone to have fun in it. Effortless. The GT350 is more fun to me with it's manual transmission, the Voodoo engine which sounds like literally no other engine on the planet, and the more "cohesive" front end styling. Even if someone was to manual swap a GT500, I'd still prefer the unique sound of the Voodoo and the styling of the GT350, over the extra power.

Great comparison. I’ll have to get some seat time in a 500. But I’m a 3 pedal guy and the sound the 350 makes is just 🤌 plus it’s my Daily. So it’s certainly full of smiles per gallon. The fuel consumption on the 500 would make me pause on that purchase a bit as a daily. It drains fuel like a fire hose. The 350 isn’t as thirsty.

The carbon fiber track pack version of the GT500 has the recaro seats and the alcantara steering like the GT350R. It would give you the same interior feel of the GT350R. You also get carbon fiber wheels on the track pack version that are standard on the GT350R. I own both and hands down I prefer the GT350R for all the reasons you guys mentioned in the video. In summary, the GT350R is a track car for the street and the GT500 is a street car that you can track. FYI, if you want to rev the GT500 at any point during your drive hold both paddle shifters at the same time to put the trans in neutral.

Not harm intended here, but the aluminator that is in your Superformance cars is cross plane based, basically a 5.2 version of the 5.0 where as the GT350’s Voodoo is a flat plane crank is unique to it and was really only sold as a ford part to replace engines in the GT350. I think the wildest aspect is the Aluminator is making power at 8k with a cross plane crank as opposed to the flat plane.

I have both and take them to all the Florida tracks (Daytona, Sebring, and Homestead). The GT350 is a better track car and is completley predictable in how it behaves. The GT500 is faster on larger tracks where the additional HP really makes a difference....but on a large track like Daytona, there is only a 3 to 4 second difference per lap between the 2, as the lighter GT350 simply handles so much better. Also, I believe the GT350 is only the 2nd time Ford has built a flat plane cranked engine....the first one was used in the bombers during the war. Also agree, bith are amazing cars!
