- In this video we take an in depth look at the legendary Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R and the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 With The Carbon Fiber Track Package. Both cars are compared/reviewed to show differences and similarities of their respective platforms.

I have a 2017 c7 Z06 7spd manual . I am looking to add a gt350 i love the flat plane crank and the manual aspects. This will be the last manual gt350
Make sure to get get one from 2018-2020 from 2018 they solve a lot of the problems the older models had. 2018 has a 2nd gen voodoo.
I have a c7 automatic and gt convertible. The c7 is faster but the gt is more comfortable, practical and fast too. I love both of them
Owned a '16 350, a '17 350r now a '22 500. The 350's are a cool cars but the power delivery isn't that accessible on the street. They simply dont make a ton of power below 6500 rpm and that gives you 2 gears before jail time speeds most of the time. I have a lot more fun in the 500 on the street, the dct is easier to live with and still lots of fun. There's zero comparison in power stock for stock. That's a fact.
Add a procharger or TT with a aggressive gear change and you be toe to toe with a 500 .
The GT350 and the GT350R are absolute living legends, no doubt about it. Theres no other sound on earth like that Voodoo engine, but man I'll tell you what. I love me a GT500. There's just something about it that just makes me smile like an idiot every time I see and hear one.

That R model is the exact same spec as my car. I also have the Watson racing red harness bar. Mine is a 17 with 5k miles, Avalanche grey with black stripes and black painted roof.

Hello vegasstang1, I believe only 39 examples were made with our spec including the black roof which I believe is a must for this car. This roof option changes the stance on the car in my opinion. I currently have 7k miles on my R.

No I haven’t gotten a Marti report. My production was late in the year December (HR788). I’m the second owner purchased the car with 700 or so miles on it.

I'm one of those weirdos that thinks the 350 looks better than the 500. But I also thought the 03 Mach 1 looked better than the 03 Cobra.

Ford gave us two really special cars with the 350 and 500. I for one would rather have the high RPM Voodoo and the manual transmission for a more engaging driving feel. I don't have them but I do like the over the top stripes over the black roof

Just watched , fantastic video . I own a 2020 CFTP and had a 2017 350. The 500 is a monster and very very fun to drive . That being said , I do miss that 6 speed tremec which was just absolute magic with the VooDoo motor. I hope to add the R back to my garage. Then, I can die a happy car guy. Thanks for a great vid , 🤜

I saw Joe knows best video on his GT500. The car is amazing but the only problem is the interior quality. Meaning the rattle and audio system isn't the best. But still this car is amazing
I have a 2020 GT350R and a 2022 GT500 CFTP. Just an FYI the roof antenna is the same on the last years of the GT350 as the GT500 but the 15-18 GT350 have the older style antenna.

Gt 350 all day long for me. The main thing that kills the gt 500 for me is the no manual option. Plus I love that voodoo engine!!!
I love my Gen 2 GT and I love that both of those cars are gen 2 Architecture too along with body style S550's.. I always thought and still do think that the Gen 2 S550's are nicer to look at than the Gen 3 S550's.. But not knocking anyone's cars to each their own...

As someone who has owned both, the GT500 is the better car overall for track. The 350 can't even come close in terms of times. I agree the noise from the 350 is superior, but you can't beat the shove the 500 has once that supercharger kicks in. It also handles just as well. Lastly, the last 2 years of 350 were the best, as they inherited the development parts from 500.

It's amazing when you get to 6500 to 7000 RPM how they feel like they want to just keep going.. My 17 GT performance Pack the Red line is at 6800 to a hard 7000 RPM. But I've gone to 7500 a few times and it just takes it and says thanks.. I try to never go over 7200/7300 RPM..
I WAS A TEST CAR DRIVER FOR LINK ENGINEERING IN AZ. IN 2014 WE GOT ONE OF THE FIRST PROTOTYPE 350R'S. FOR ADDITIONAL TESTING THAT FORD FARMED OUT. MY BOSS WAS REALLY COOL AND PUT ME IN IT EXCLUSIVELY FOR THE NIGHT SHIFT. DAMN THAT THING WAS LOUD. OMG. IT HANDLED LIKE IT WAS ON RAILS AS WELL. THE SPEEDS THAT I COULD TAKE 90 CORNERS WAS EPIC. HOLLY SHT. WE DROVE IT SOOO HARD THAT WE WENT THRU A SET OF TIRES EVERY WEEK. ONE NIGHT I LITERALLY PEELED THE TREAD OFF OF THE P CUP 2'S. DANG WE ROAD THAT STANG HARD, AND PUT IT AWAY WET 🤣🤣😂

Gt350r is a track car you can bring on the street, the GT500 is a street car you can bring to the track. GT350r all day!
What do you mean the cars won’t let you rev past 4 and 6k RPM? Both cars do NOT have rev limiter.
I prefer the looks of the GT500 but I prefer the experience of the GT350. It’s a damn shame the Vodoo engine is about as good as a 2003 6.0 Powerstroke

Coming from a 2016 GT owner, n/a but built to the hilt and costs $20K less, I'm not entirely impressed... BTW, it wasn't mentioned in the vid, but what gearing is in both those cars? I can bet they are 3.55's, which is great, but my 3.73's are just that much better cuz ya can't drive that fast in L.A, just a quicker get-a-away with 3.73's... LoL. I just don't feel the over-price on the 350R's or 500's whether super-charged or not. My Sally gets me in trouble enough as it is. However, on the positive side, I don't have to pay Ali-Pony!

I just bought a GT 350 with a Whipple supercharger and I just got approved on a GT500 2021 honestly I think I’m just gonna keep my GT 350 what are you guys think? He doesn’t even look like he’s having having as much fun in the GT500 as the GT 350 lol

If it only let you rev it to 4K then you probably have LC on. Turn it off and you can ping it if your heart desires.

I drove the GT350R and I wasnt impressed. It has no low end torque everything is up high. Its definitely a track not a street car. If you can keep the car in the 6-8K rpm range it will run but most people dont drive like that. All you Ford guys want to see quick sprints and get up and go drive a Vette. More specifically a z06 7 speed with a cam and headers. Blows these two out the water. Out of these two I would get the gt500 but its an automatic gimme a break
The gt350 engine breaks to easily, plus the GT500 beats it’s in every category of performance, no brainer GT500 cftp is simply the better car
As long as you don't modify the 350 and check the oil level after every other hard drive, they're pretty reliable. The reason most of the engine fail is because people don't check the oil as often as they should on these high revving engines.
But yes, the GT500 is the better overall car on paper but the 350R is a lot more fun to drive imo
@@MrCarAddictDCA yes maintenance is the best preventive care for longevity, but it’s pretty well documented that the engine vibration from the flat plane crank destroys the engine over time, ppl don’t talk about how many engine have been replaced, but if you have a 2020 the engines are slightly better. I understand the manual experience but I can just get a 5.0 with a whipple if I want to row gears. Never heard anyone complain about a dct in a gt3rs or gt2rs

The low temperature thermostat is all you need to keep the 350 running cooler.
For me it's the 6-speed manual, maybe not as fast as an auto but would definitely offer a much purer driving experience.

I've always preferred the styling of the GT350R the 500 just always seemed kind of "hotwheelsy" imo.
Had a 350 and went to a 500 CFTP like this as I tend to agree. The 350 just had a very slick look - the lines melded well into one another. The 500, just a mustang with some big badges, wings and beautiful wheels
Love both, but the 350 is just special!

The side vent gives you the illusion that is however the GT500s front fenders are 10mm wider
Those intakes both lose horsepower
They restrict the airflow a lot less resulting in more power. The most important thing is the heat shield which they both have

You would think the GT500 would come with carbon ceramic brakes considering it’s a “track package” and it’s already worth six digits.
My brother n law has both. I enjoy the GT350R way more. It’s more fun to drive; I love driving the manual. Plus GT350R will be worth more in the future.
The GT350 Styling is superior to the GT500 my opinion l, love the sleaker design and how low gravity it is in comparison to the GT500

The GT500 is 10x better looking than the GT350R, but the manual in the 350 is makes it 100x better for sporty driving.
GT500 is OK and I take one. But, the GT350R is a legend and the driver makes all the moves. The GT500 is more bark than bite. Yes I'm an old school driver and prefer the Manual GT350R it more a track car made for the street. Not a street car that you take to the track. Just saying...
