great pedal. if i leave the bias and bass cranked, treble in middle, and wahq at 0, and leave the pedal on in the lowest setting, it acts as a pseudo reverb.
If that’s not fixed even after a decade, it has significant flaw which is switching delay, a literal sound gap for like 1 second when switching from clean to wah. Returned mine right away.
@@MOAB-UT This is a very subjective, so I usually tell ppl whatever sounds and feel good to their ears and foot! To me, when I was young, fascinated by Arch enemy and went after Rocktron Black Cat Moan, didn't like the tone much, then tried these xotic one but it cuts off the sound during switch, returned, then I realized I am spending too much time following artists rather than me. So went for well known Dunlop cry babies and Morley and ended up liking basic/normal cry baby. Still serving me well with zero issue. I'd say go to nearest music shop like guitar center or something that you have nearby and try those 2, plus if they had this xotic one, try this one too, if they fixed the switch, try this. Xotic tone was very good, hardware was not (that time).
@@MOAB-UT I was looking for VOX Big Bad Wah but that thing is long discontinued and many users told me it's not that special either, Joe Satriani just wanted couple of features together to reduce his pedalboard clutter and that's it. Then I was looking at Cry Babies and ended up liking the sound of their Custom Badass with Halo and Yellow Fasel inductor but upon receiving, I found that's a piece of shit with junk build quality with shit materials and lose pivoting, crackling sound. Returned that right away and got myself good ol trusty Morley 20/20 Bad Horsie. End of headache and continue with life and music...
@@MOAB-UT I tried that several years ago and I really liked the tone and the functionalities of that including the build quality (before covid when the price was $236 lol), however, when using, I found an audible click/gap while switching from bypass to wah or the opposite I don't remember. The gap is quite visible on the waveform while recording and distracting during live so I returned that. I wanted to believe that could be a defective unit but another person on sweetwater review wrote the same thing so I knew replacement won't work. I am not sure whether they fixed it or not and my local GuitarCenter(s) doesn't have it and didn't wanna order the same thing from sweetwater and then return again for the same issue.
I think the eq knobs would be welcomed if you're switching from a stratty single coil guitar to a humbucker axe with the same pedal rig. Cry baby plus Strat can be really obnoxious. Just my 02 - I'd buy it for that alone
Hey John .. Get Premier Guitar to "pork" up some money and make some "Let's Dime This Pig" t-shirts! I think they'd make a few extra bucks with that one...Or maybe a "Keep Calm. Dime That Pig and Rock On!" Cheers! p.s. - If you use that idea, send me one and I'll buy the rest... :-)
gmlasam I've often thought that. I have done exactly what he was talking about where I unknowingly had the wah on & was hearing the weirdness of it all asking "WT HECK?"
Well I have a couple of crybaby's that aren't hard to engage at all. And then of course I have a Morley Bad Horsie, which has no toe-down switch at all.
It sounds really good to me, I dig the features, but at $250 or so, that's WAY too much for a wah pedal. I appreciate the added features, but it's still just a wah.
A great wah is just as important as a great guitar and a great amp plus, a quality wah will last a lifetime. I've upgraded wah pedals over the years and I wish I would have bought the best one the first time.
Did he just say "fugly tone"? (6:16) Humoring to hear Dire Straits Money for Nothing tone afterwards. Aint Supersitious - heck yes - mandatory wah riffage.
Drives me absolutely nuts that the sound briefly cuts out entirely when you activate the wah. Otherwise it's the perfect wah, but this flaw made me not want to keep it :(
Is it me or does it seem like when he demo's something its the very first moments he's actually taken the time to check it out? They just always seem like they're done 'on the fly' without any preparation....not to mention it looks like he just got out of bed!
I think it's hilarious when he is interviewing an artist and acts like everything they say is completely mind blowing like he just saw a spaceship land or a magician make a 747 disappear. No matter what it is. Artist: "These are guitar strings and this is a guitar cord". in theme man.
I'll probably stay with my traditional cry baby. I enjoy my Xotic Effects RC Booster and would not want to part with it. It's a big part of my rig. Xotic Effects make a very good, very functional pedal. The wah, on the other hand, is not that important to me. Xotic Effects pedals are expensive and I have no doubt that this wah pedal is pricey. It's an interesting pedal that has been created and I like that it is smaller than the Dunlop. But, again, I'll stick with the cry baby.
No offense, but I would prefer Don Karr of premiere guitars do this demo. He talks less and knows his shit. I pretty much buy everything he recommended.
PROBABLY THE BEST WAY I'VE HEARD. LOVE JOHN'S PLAYING
You are kidding right!
you are awesome john, i always enjoy your reviews!

Man I would love a review with the ME Re Wah. I'd love to compare between the 2. Good Job JB!
The indicator light should be on the rear of the wah wah pedal...not the front for visual confirmation that your pedal is in fight mode!
10:19 "that... that is a nice bump!" *sniffs*
Sounds Fantastic to me !!!!

Which one can you please recommend? I am in the market. The Fulltone Custom Shop one looks great.

@@etherlords88 I like the Xotic XW1. Have you tried that one?

Stop winging this Wah is soo good

Maybe for you lol
What about Crybaby classic pedal? I heard that is their best one, Fasel inductor, etc.
Wish he’d have tested this with a fuzz to check the buffer....
I want your clothes, boots and wah pedal!
Nice demo Jon! Cool peddle. I'm not even a wah fan!
We figured that from your picture.
Diggin' it! Nice prs too.
More wah pedals , are released. Soon.i see.i said done well.( I do listening, only .so enjoy.

Stratomacaster I'll spread the word to my colleagues. Dig that idea
"Today, we're doing a revehhh--review demo..."
Cool!
Hmmm you need a light to know if a "wah" pedal is on?
gmlasam I've often thought that. I have done exactly what he was talking about where I unknowingly had the wah on & was hearing the weirdness of it all asking "WT HECK?"
I got one of these and I love it. The only thing that's a bummer is that the switch is extremely difficult to engage.
ClamsAnonymous That's pretty standard with wahs.
Well I have a couple of crybaby's that aren't hard to engage at all. And then of course I have a Morley Bad Horsie, which has no toe-down switch at all.
ClamsAnonymous Get a G-lab wah pad, it rocks my world XD
True! It's a very loud hard thing to click on off. In the demo it's a soft click to on. I don't know mine is stiff and loud?
Randy m Could be why they call you Randy.
Awesome... time for some new shoes John. Lol
I got one and it worked once and it hasn't worked since .
I don't see a blanket over the amp.
Out of 5 CryBaby's one didn't suck. And a student ran off with it. Long may he rock. But I need a wah. Again.
It sounds really good to me, I dig the features, but at $250 or so, that's WAY too much for a wah pedal. I appreciate the added features, but it's still just a wah.
Say "just a wah" to Kirk Hammet ;)

Got one for £151 (:
This guy sounds exactly like Matt Dillon
Which is pretty cool

The stupid high cut knob may be the single most obvious thing to have ever put in a Wah pedal.
Best wah but pricey.

Great pedal but it's not 4 me but very very cool wah
Why did you have to put those ugly stickers to that beautiful guitar?
jim carrey,s Dad
MikeyZ Synth-Eti-Cut HaHa!
Good review. Horrible horrible sound quality.

Distorted Mess
The perfect wah reviewed by the worst reviewer. I can't stand this guy.
MrWolf5150 How DARE YOU!!!
MrWolf5150 That’s pretty brutal. Damn.
Terrible Tone
bad demo bro, talk less play more.
