    As far as octane I run premium in my 95 yj2.5 and my 92xj4.0 people say it doesn't make a difference but both of mine run much smoother with it 🧑‍🔧

    • @JeepSheepTV
      @JeepSheepTV  3 года назад

      Do you live in a state where premium has less ethanol in it? If the ethanol content is lower you will see an improvement in power and economy but it has nothing to do with the octane rating. I have a hard time using high octane fuel because it's expensive and the Jeep doesn't have heat mileage. If I get my tune wrong or if I'm driving into wind I can get as low as 7mpg with the supercharger on, otherwise I average around 14mpg.

    Upgrade the fuel pump to a fuel pump that gives you above needed pressure. Then get a fuel pressure regulator.
    Then upgrade the spark plugs to a higher CC level. Match the spark plugs to the amount of intake you are going to get with the supercharger. Together you will have your golden ratio to maintain the fuel to air ratio. Upgrading the fuel system will keep you from running lean. Fat and happy is not always good advice but it can keep you from having catastrophic problems it's better to slowly lean to a ideal mixture than to lean out too far.

    Fuel pressure should be 41 ish with the fuel pressure regulator unplugged and 31 with it plugged in and running perfectly. I have had no luck with a reliable OEM fuel pump to include Bosch, all have dropped and run at 26psi. I use the four-hole injectors and no fuel pressure regulator, currently hitting around 35-36psi. I am adding my MSD next week and re-gapping the plugs, then adding the PC3. The 2.5 also pulls data from the temperature sensor in the thermostat housing.

    This is actually really awesome I took my Jeep Wrangler 2.5 l from Austin to El Paso which is typically in a modern car a 7 to 8 hour drive. In my Jeep it was a 12-hour drive 😬. I figured out a little trick that helped me get up to 70- 80 miles an hour because I can only get to 65. Especially when I'm going downhill I would get right behind an 18-wheeler and on these long trips it really wasn't a problem because we could both maintain speed. It helped a little bit with the gas consumption but it got pretty sketchy because I didn't know where the next gas station was going to be. There's nothing worse than being broken down in the middle of a desert.
    I remember I pulled in the parking lot with my engine sputtering it died in the parking spot that I pulled into. I was relieved that I made it.

      Get a military "Jerry Can" holder and Jerry Can. It holds an extra 5 gallons for those long trips. I have one for my TJ and It bolts right next to my spare tire rack. I just did a rattle can primer and Dupli-Color match paint to stock paint and a clear coat. It took less than 1 Saturday to get everything done. Hope it helps in your adventures. By the way, in total it cost around $75-80 for the mod.

  • @mr.matthews67
    @mr.matthews67 2 года назад

    How many cc's is the stock YJ fuel injectors?
    When you upgrade fuel injectors to allow for more fuel you allow for more pressure per stroke. Obviously you would have to maintain the ratio when you do this so you would have to have forced induction to keep the engine running. Also another thing you could do is modify the engine with an upgraded camshaft. This would change the timing to less economy and more performance. Also it sounds awesome.

      It is inexpensive but also a lot of work to set up, people have ran the 4.0l off of it but so far no 2.5ls, also neither 2.5l trigger pattern is currently supported so you would either need to write the code or set up an aftermarket trigger wheel, I've got a 36 -1 wheel to eventually put on mine.

    i want to see you build a hi compression bullet proof engine in the future and up the boost to 8psi. i believe the v 8 amc engines share alot of valve train components and maybe even rods and pistons so with some reshearching you might be able to get who know what all aftermarket performance parts that will work or be modified to work. Wouldnt it be awesome to install forged rods and pistons in a bored out 2.5 with 8 to 10 psi? With a beefed up valve train and headstuds a reliable 200 plus hp would be easily obtainable and dependable. If you dont do it i will lol

    • @JeepSheepTV
      @JeepSheepTV  3 года назад +1

      I think there is better aftermarket support for the 4.0L engine which also shares components. It really wouldn't be that hard to find beefed up components as there are many kits for the 4.0 that make it ready for a turbo. I could honestly ramp it up to 8psi right now and get close to 150hp or more depending on what the engine actually makes now. I just need to get my bypass valve tuned in first so it's more drivable.

    • @pigpenjeep7726

      @@JeepSheepTV the 4.0 pistons are interchangeable with the 2.5. I did a .30 over on my 2.5 and I have two spares. Supposedly there is a stroker kit out there. I will build one if I can source the parts.

    • @Its_Stone_Time
      @Its_Stone_Time 3 года назад

      Sadly 2.5L is about as large as we can go before the engine becomes too unbalanced. Anyway, these 4-bangers are at a pretty low compression ratio with an iron block so...boost away! You can get stronger connecting rods and maybe cut a 4.0 crank cradle to strengthen the bottom end. Don't forget to open up the piston ring gaps and 'port' the oil pump. Maybe lighten and balance the crank and pistons?

    Always remember that running rich is better than running lean as far as engine damage is concerned. Pre-detonation can, and will, melt pistons, melt piston rings, burn valves, etc. In other words, cause catastrophic engine damage.
