I trust your reviews. I'm having a hard time deciding on luggage 🧳 😩. Probably overthinking things. So, in a video comparison. I fell in love with the July luggage . Now I'm torn between Monos Hybrid and July luggage. Monos has better accessories, while July has more colors. Narrowed it down to the two brands because of the bumper ends for protection from dents and dings. Maybe you can do a comparison in the future . Or give me your advice 😉
I rewatched this video soo many times before I finally decided to go with July as my forever carry-on. I splurged and got the heritage trunk in matte moss and I couldn't be happier! I recently took it on a trip to Hawaii and it was such dream to use and recieved many compliments. I highly recommend their packing cubes as well, it made packing super easy! The quality and attention to detail is just perfect on these cases. I love my July carry-on trunk, thank you for helping me find the perfect one💚
Oh I’m so jealous, that one looks awesome! I did just get their packing cubes (actually a set from every brand in this video) and tested them all. So glad I could help!
Thank you for taking the time to do this video. Beis has been the bag I had been considering but the fact that it probably is too big for carry on for international travel has changed my mind. I agree when you are spending that amount of money on a bag, you should be able to take it on any trip.
I was in the exact same mindset. I was going to go with Beis also but after seeing this I think I will go with July. Mainly because I think the battery charger will come in handy plus the color choices are nice.
@@laurenswedenborg2022 in this video that I made, at the 6:43 mark, you can see that I put the beis carry on in the jet blue sizer and it fit. ruclips.net/video/4p8XvelDvlA/видео.html but sometimes gate agents have bad days and make up their own rules. I’d argue it.
Thank you for providing a video that ranks them all. You’re so smart to offer that- it’s what viewers REALLY want to see! The international baggage info was also super helpful. You’re amazing! And got a new subscriber! ❤ I think I’ll get a beis set for domestic travel and monos or July set for international travel (:
This was sooo hepful! Thank you for an honest and * clear * comparison review!!! July was at my top tie position before this review, love that you put cases through the torture test!
I purchased the Monos before I found you on RUclips. But I purchased the Carry On and middle size check-in luggage in Blue Haze. I purchased the Metro Backpack in Oxford Blue, the luggage covers, toiletries case in Oxford Blue, and the gray six pack of packing cubes.
Did you get the monos carry on or the plus? Im going to buy one but im not sure about the sizes as i dont want problems at the airport with the plus but i do want the extra space as well
@@toyhusky we went with the carry on, we fly with different airlines and we chose based on the smallest requirements. For our most recent cruise, we managed to pack 9 days worth of clothes and shoes in just the carry on and a small backpack each
My *LV Horizon 55* measures *15x21.7w×8.3in volume 37.1* and had 0 problems w/it fitting the requirements *However* w/ THAT being said, it doesn't fit a lot within it & isn't expandable so seeing the July bag & it gives off the LV vibe, that will be my next luggage purchase bcus it's so pretty!❤ Thanks for the video✔️💯
I have my July Carry-on for two years and love it. Just purchased the expandable Checked luggage and took it on my trip to Europe. July top of my list favoritee!
I have the Level 8 carryon that you have here. I LOVE it. I went international and it fit perfect. The wheels are smooth as butter. I fit 10 days plus into the bag with way more than I ever used.
😤 Just when I settled on Monos. Ok gotta check out some July reviews first. Thank you for the informative video. BTW I love your fashion sense. And tattoos 👍🏽😊
@@aliwins they are both fabulous. Now that I have traveled with both, I can say you really can’t go wrong with either. The compression on Monos is better and Monos rolls better.
Same! I keep watching reviews on suitcases and reading reviews and I settled on monos. Plus they are running a valentines sale rn! (20% off). I’m gonna check out July now 😅
I’m Australian & I have just purchased the July, I’m concerned about the weight (have to watch what I pack), but July has just released the new 2kg expandable lite weight. I purchased the black with the Chalk Carry all Tote. I will be using it for the first time over Xmas. I’m flying with Virgin Australian to Bali & they have a carry on weight of 7kg. Lets see how that goes !
I’m so interested in the light expandable, especially for flights like yours! Let’s hope they don’t actually weigh you! My bag overweight when I went to Norway but they didn’t weigh it, thank goodness. 7kg max is ridiculous. Let me know how you like traveling with it!
Thanks for your honest reviews! I own two aways for 1 year now. The inside zipper is broken in one of them and the compression strap is broken in the other one. I am back on the market for new luggage again.
Yes! I’ve been anxiously waiting for this comparison from you. After months of research and debate on which bag to invest in, I purchased my July bag a few days ago. Now you have just proven that I made the right choice! Thanks for all the time and effort you put in to give us all the deets! Love your channel (you’re my fav, just don’t tell the others 😉)
Thank you! I have been researching for months and had no clear winner. I stumbled across your channel and just purchased a July Family Set in Sand and I cannot wait to receive it.
Thank you so much for this great video! I just received my yellow July Carry On Essential, which replaces my beloved 10yr old orange Hideo Wakamatsu Jelly Bean. Nothing but love for Hideo Wakamatsu -- that little suitcase has served me so well for such a long time! But I'm excited to try a new brand and a fun new color! Thanks again -- love your videos!
I originally ordered Away luggage before discovering Monos back in 2020 and sent it back and ordered Monos carry-on and medium size luggage love them held up well on my international flight home , I might have to get a July carry-on though after seeing youre review on it as a backup piece I think it's perfect good review.
I love our Beis carry-on bags. Haven’t had an issue on domestic flights. We fly Delta 98% of the time and they have been fine, even on the smaller regional jets. Flew international to Nova Scotia on WestJet and did not have an issue with size. I do have one Monos bag and it is smaller on the inside but much more compliant size wise.
I’m so happy I came upon your videos. I’ve never flown internationally and needed a perfect carryon because I don’t want to check in my bags. Thank you so much!
Really appreciate this video! FYI: I decided to go with the Level8 (even though it's heavy) because you put it in every sizer you could find, and so I feel pretty confident this should work as a carry on for wherever I go, which for me is important. Thank you so much! :)
Ahhh so happy July was your top! Before I found your channel, everyone seemed to be promoting Away. And I was so torn because I had seen the July bag but there were no reviews on it. 😬 I did end up taking a chance and I bought July. Literally best investment! I absolutely love your channel! I hope July sees your video girl! ❤
Yay! What bag/color did you get from July?! And I agree, I’ve never seen a negative review about Away, and I’m like WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT THIS? Haha
The Monos is sooo pretty in that soft pink! On another note, I am an over packer because I get anxiety about not having everything I need. I can’t figure out how people pack for 2 weeks in Europe in a carry-on 😬. I would love to see how you pack for long trips in a carry-on.
I know this was a year ago but it has been very helpful for me! I really wanted to get the July carry on you had in your video but it was too big for Iceland Air as a carry on. I had to get the carry on lite as it was the only one that fit the dimensions perfectly so hopefully it does me justice! I also wanted to comment that I had almost purchased an away bag because their site stated that it was compatible with Iceland air BUT if you look at the actual dimensions of the bag it is not! Thank you so much for all of your research, it has been extremely helpful! Now I just need to learn how to pack 2 weeks worth into the July Carry on Lite 🥴
Did you find that Iceland air actually checked the dimensions in a sizer? I find most airlines don’t, and they didn’t the last time I flew them (pre pandemic) but I am flying them in a few weeks!
Living and traveling in SE Asia I discovered that some airlines have weight restrictions forcarryon luggage. My carryon wasn’t even full and it weighed too much. Fortunately I got 1 free checked bag.
I’ve heard some concerning stuff about Monos’s customer service, return policy, and warranty. For that reason, I’m sorta leaning towards July. But also Monos typically has sales that make it almost ~$100 cheaper than July which is super tempting. Love your videos by the way, they’re my primary resource for research on luggage :) and do you happen to have a promo code with July?
Thank you for your reviews. They are very informative. I debated for a long time before seeing this review, between Beis and Monos carry ons and finally settled on Monos due to price and warranty. It arrived today!
@@ItsTheKellys can you help, I bought a red Away Bigger carryon, but I think it's already too heavy unpacked 😩😩 almost 8lbs, ar there any r d lightweight rolling carryons that you could recommend? I'm looking at the Samsonite VOLTAGE DLX GLOBAL CARRY-ON SPINNER 🤷🏿🤷🏿🤷🏿
I went to Thailand in 2019 with the Away bigger carry-on on ANA and United. I was not stopped and able to take on the Away. I was able to get out the scratches and scuffs with magic eraser. I had no issue with customer service to replace one of the wheels. Other than that, I agreed with you about the telescopic handle being jiggly. Can see some of the scratches may not come out for some luggage. Compression straps and pad not as good as Monos. The wheels not as smooth as some of the tests I saw you do. I'm selling them now and looking for something with better features.
I’m glad you were able to bring it on :) I just personally think that for such a high price, it should perform better. I always take pix of “luggage in the wild” while traveling and away always looks badly beaten up. Let me know what you end up getting!
I think I have watched and re-watched this video four or more times, going back and forth between July and Monos. I (finally) decided on the Monos over the July because of it's slightly smaller dimensions (and a picture in their reviews showing it stashed under the seat in front of them). Thank you so much for this!
I go back and forth still too! You will love your Monos! If you haven’t ordered yet, use code Itsthekellys5 for a discount! If you have ordered… let me know what you got!
@@ItsTheKellys I ordered the "Carry On"( and gave the name of your channel when asked how I heard of Monos during checkout). They sent me a discount code, but I will hold onto yours in case my husband decides he wants on, too. Thank you!
I bought the Rick Steve's RAVENNA Rolling Case. It's hardsided on the bottom and sides and durable fabric on the front and back so it has pockets on the front. This company makes bags specifically for European travel. The RAVENNA is also a 2 wheel roller as oppsed to a 4 wheel spinner. Better, easier and more durable for navigating cobble stone roads, and rocky terrain. And the wheels are half way inbedded in the case so they don't stick out much, easier to fit in the luggage compartment and less likely to be damaged. Not any frills. Just a durable, practical, sleek and unique hybrid bag for international flights. I have the black one and also take my Lily and Drew Carry on bag, also in black. Btw, I have the Away Everywhere Bag and PREFER the Lily and Drew bag. I like the shape, size and structure of the bag. More feminine looking than the Everywhere Bag and the Lily has a dozen more pockets and compartments. And the fabric of the Lily matches the Ravenna bag.
Cool! I’ll have to look at them all. I’ve never been a 2 wheel girl because I also use all 4 beside me as opposed to 2 wheels behind me, but sounds cool for cobblestone! Also, hybrid ones sound cool :)
@@ItsTheKellys I have a 4 wheel spinner I use for domestic travel. TRAVELERS CHOICE SILVERWOOD. This case has a textured "carbonfiber" look to it to prevent and hide scratches. It's not as sleek as the RAVENNA, hence I use it for domestic and not so rural terrain. But you can still carry on. But not sure on discount airlines like Jet Blue or Spirit, where i hear is more strict. If you travel a lot, why not have a case for different destinations and terrain!
thanks for all the great info! Wish you'd compared the regular sized Away carry on, rather than the bigger one and then saying it's too big, lol. The regualr one is 21.7" x 13.7" x 9" which seems just as good as some of the others.
I now travel every other month for work and have been looking at these brands for a wheeled carry on (which I do not currently have) - the Away, July and Monos are not in my budget but the Level 8 seems well priced! I had not heard of this brand before so I am glad to learn about it. If I could splurge might go with the July with the battery pack. Thank you for this review!
Level 8 is amazing! The textured luggage can be perfect for you, I love it. The battery pack with July is kind of a waste, some airlines make you take it out, and it’s not as good as an anker charger. I’m currently traveling with it and didn’t use it.
@@ItsTheKellys thank you! I appreciate the feedback about the power - good to keep in mind. There is a lot more charging available in American airports and on planes now and a portable charger is small and handy.
This video is the most helpful one I’ve come across. Thank you for such a thorough review! Your videos are go-to when it came to luggage reviews! Decided on getting July as my “rough” luggage (I use a Rimowa, but need something tougher for a Europe trip) where it might get beaten up by the cobblestones and train rides, but unfortunately it doesn’t ship to Asia. Might go with Monos since it ships worldwide.
Thank you so much, that really means a lot to me. Which rimowa do you have? I would love to know more about how you feel about the quality! I’m sorry July doesn’t ship worldwide! Monos would still be great for you!
I don’t check bags and I encourage others not to either on this channel, but I can tell you, the checked versions are exactly the same, just bigger! I showed the Monos ones in my pop up store video, and compared all of the check in sizes. ruclips.net/video/WTAMwl_hb_0/видео.html
Hi Lauren! This was a great review, I have the Beis carry on and am now thinking about getting the Monos because of the size factor. Also completely off topic but your hair looks amazing, wondering if you would consider doing a tutorial on how you do your curls etc; maybe a shorts. Thanks!!!
Love this review! What bag do you usually bring for travel? I always think that travel is made easier when you have the best travel gear and essentials too. The bento bag from Nomad Lane is my best carry-on bag for travels like this. Thought I'd share it with you, too! Can you please do a review on the Bento Bag by Nomad Lane?
I love this review! I am considering updating my luggage, but I am not sure any of these can work still! The airlines I have access to are strict. Weight is 51 lbs and carry-on smallest dimension are 22 H 14 W and 9 L and personal items dimensions are 16 H, 12 W and 6 L. I love the details, as you are right what dimensions are advertised may not be what it exactly says.
The Monos is the best size for you, then. It measures smaller than 22 x 14 x 9, and is pretty light! If you are looking for something, even lighter, July has light bags that are under 4 pounds! I have reviewed that too!
Thank you for responding. The width of both were .5 and 1 inch more but maybe that will be negligent enough. Thanks for the suggestions. Much appreciated
I have 2 July bags...1 moss green expandable 2.2k carry-on I took on a summer 12 day cruise to Tasmania and 1 grey lavender check bag for my 6 week trip to the Baltics and Norway cruise via Amsterdam and Finland with a stopover in Tokyo. I had 3 seasons to cater for into one checked bag. I agree with your review comments about the ease of use for July suitcases. Both bags were a dream to wheel around cobble stones and lift when needed. Wish I'd seen your Norwegian packing video before going and maybe I'd have only take the carry-on instead of my checked bag 😂 I am going on a hikking trip next spring in Japan. I will be taking hikking poles with me. I think I will have to check-in in my bags because of the poles unless you know of an alternative. 😢
Thank you for another informative video. I've had a Briggs & Riley soft international carry-on that I love for years! I'm exploring hard shell luggage, so I really look forward to your videos. Have you thought of including Briggs & Riley luggage in your comparisons, especially their hard luggage? Thanks again, especially when you take each luggage to the airlines' sizers. Really appreciated.
Thank you so much for this video!! I am traveling to Thailand in a few weeks and I have been searching for a new carry on because my cheap one broke on my last trip. I want to invest in one that's actually going to last me. I am absolutely torn now between the July and Monos. I have no clue which one to choose! I dont want to have to check my bag. You also kind of have me thinking about the Level 8 one even though you say it's heavy.
Well a bit of an update: my july handle is broken, and I’m not that happy with it. All of my Monos bags have been great. Also, Level 8 isn’t as heavy as said in the video, it was a typo on the website. Also, check out Heys (I’ve done 2 reviews on them) Because they are probably way up there now for me!
Still got the away in Coast, just the smaller Carry On. Looks great, and I have a store less than 5 miles away, making potential warranty repairs easy. Only used it once so far, but no complaints yet.
Love your vids! Would love comparisons of light weight carry ons. The avg usually weights 7.0 lbs or more so would like to watch your comparisons of carry ons under 7.0 lbs
My newer version of this video (2023) discusses a few pieces that are around or under 6 pounds, and I have reviewed the lightest bag- the July carry on light :) but that’s all I have! I’m not a fan of soft sided bags or non-clamshell bags, even if they are under 7 pounds. They don’t pack as well, in my opinion :)
Another great one with the weights of each!! They are all so so heavy!!! No way!!! A 22 lb limit is meaningful when travelling!! I hope you get to review the lite July!! How long is the wait for them to arrive? (A Canadian)
My friend has the july lite expandable and used it when we were traveling together. I’ll borrow it eventually to review for everyone :) and they usually get delivered within a week of processing
I really liked the level8 bag, but I have been considering the monos, as well. The airline restricts weight to 22 lbs (personal and carry-on), so level8 would only leave 12 lbs left.
Another commenter asked me to weigh it this morning and it actually weighed just less than 8 pounds. I was shocked. It doesn’t change my order because of the lack of compression, but hopefully it can help you!
@@ItsTheKellys Are bags MILDEW proof ? I'm going to Ecuador , and wont return for a year or so. Plus its a lifetime bag. I'd think this a question for Hawaii, Japan travellers, especially extended stays. I"m leaning towards level8 . Durability.
Great video. The best I've seen during my search for the PREFECT BAG. I really need the expansion so, I guess it's Beis for me. Although I'm flying internationally. I will check the airlines' requirements. I'm flying Delta and South Africa Airlines. Wish me luck! Thanks for making the video.
Delta can be ok with Beis, it just depends on their airline share, if they use one. Carry it on with delta, and if you have to check with SA, that’s ok! I think Monos Will be coming out with expansion soon. Saw it in the comments somewhere on IG.
This was great! I’m Australian and looking at July, there are so few reviews of them around so this was super helpful. Also saw in the comments that you’re visiting the July store, I had no idea there even was a store! 😅 - now planning to visit tomorrow!
@@danykoskova3554 hey! Yes I did end up buying a light expandable carry on from them, I’ve been really happy with it - it’s a good size, seems pretty sturdy and the lighter weight has been super helpful both for travelling on airlines where they weigh your carry on bags and also just for easily carrying it up & down stairs etc. I actually checked it in last week as well and it seems to have come through pretty well (some light scuff marks that I was able to clean off). The only issue I’ve had with it is sometimes when it’s really stuffed full of things on the handle side, the handle can get a bit stuck going up and down, but I’ve had that problem with other bags as well and I find it’s just learning how to best arrange stuff on that side of the bag so it doesn’t get in the way of the handle movement 🙂
My wife and I looked at the July but we were both bugged by the HUGE branding on the side, so we went with Monos, as you said though you really can't go wrong with any bag on the list
My channel is all about carry on travel, so I don’t see myself making a video for checked bags anytime soon, but I would imagine my list would be fairly similar. Thanks for Watching!
Great review! So helpful thank you. But I looked and the two airlines I’m flying this summer have measurements that none of these qualify? Eva airlines 22/14/9, Cebu pacific 22/14/10 Now I don’t know if I can buy any was going to buy the July. Monos advertises 22/14/9 but you measured 14.5
@@ItsTheKellys do you have an opinion between carry on and carry on pro? And thanks! I really wanted the july based on your review but I don’t like the light version.
July contacted me said their overall size actually fits the requirements. So now I may go with that with yohr review but I saw you have some new vids where you like monos so ugh don’t know prices so diff lol
@@allthingsreview777 for monos or July? I saw the monos one and it’s ok… it takes a little bit of depth out but not too much. The July one is interesting (I haven’t seen it in person yet- I will in a month) because the pro part snaps off! I’m much more of a backpack person for my laptop and essentials that having it on the front of my suitcase. If you are interested in a pro bag, I do like the level 8 roadrunner too! I have it and will review it soon. (And have a discount code of 10% off)
My Monos bags looked wrecked after one trip 😢I bought 4 suitcases from them - carry-on and large sizes in two different colours. First trip, they had major scratches that would not come off and the large bag had a dent. I was so excited when they arrived and couldn’t wait to use them, so it was a big disappointment. Tried the cover on one but it got ripped in transit and it makes the bag look ugly. It’s also a pain to have on when you need to get in your bag. Thanks for the video… I’m ordering a July bag now!
Oh no! That’s the first I’ve heard about Monos! I even had a subscriber say her car was totaled but her monos didn’t have a scratch on it (that was in the trunk) I’m sorry to hear that. Let me know how you like July!
@@ItsTheKellys I think it wouldn’t have been so bad if we got a dark colour. But I couldn’t resist the light blue… I’d love to see a follow-up video on how yours performs after you travel. Glad I found your channel!
I have heard of them and have reached out several times. Personally, I think the carry on closet is ridiculous and such a waste of space, but I am trying to review it for you guys one day! Packing cubes can help you fit almost twice as much stuff in one side of the luggage :)
I love love looove you and how freakin honest you are! So refreshing that you are not just trying to get the commission on some bag like some channels do. You had me rolling when you made your hubby put it above his head to throw it higher… like, that’s real crap if you start throwing down those stupid European hotel stairs in the summertime when the 1 tiny lift is broken and the building, ( which was condemned the year before you arrived…yet they pre-sold hotel rooms to the stupid group tour anyways ) you know the kind that was built in 1605 but remolded 3 times since then and the cracks in the floors show thru to next floor down ( Venice, 1996… it’s probably underwater now… )but ya! You too would throw that damn lugged down those freakin stairs and let’s see if the wheels would survive 🤣 I have no problem with peeps making money. But thank you for actually adding value to my life! Not just hawking a product. Traveling is an adventure. The gear has to be great. Thank you for helping us all navigate that part together.
Thank you so much! I actually laughed when I put this list together, because the company I do get commission with is #3. Sure, I could have put them at number one and made money, but I’d rather be truthful! And yes, European stairs…. European cobblestone…. A suitcase has to be able to combat both of those!
Hi Lauren! I've been watching a lot of your content as well as others to compare July and monos.. however checked size for me :) but I still think it translates. I love your style and energy of sharing. Thank you! So I've decided on July and I'm curious if you have any discounts with them. And/or a link that I can buy through so you get the credit. Thanks again!
Thanks so much. July is incredible, you will love it. They don’t have anything like that for me introducing the bag to you, but if they ask you at check out just tell them “It’s the Kellys” from RUclips 🩷🩷
@@ItsTheKellys I saw that and I did that! thank you :) I just got it too.. Clay color :) the smaller check in.. my trip is for an indefinite amount of time and I don't see myself living out of a carry-on.. but want you to know all of your content really has been easy for me to translate into my needs...
I am so grateful for your video! Thank you for your honest reviews. AirFrance ruined my bag and I was able to get credit so now I will invest in a set. I was curious about almost all these bags and you covered it all. You are amazing. Also your style and makeup is beautiful! You are killing it! Love from Miami ^u^
Thank you for your videos! I started off looking at Monos, then Solgaard, and then your video had me set on July. After looking at carry on measurements I’m back to square one. I picked the perfect combo with July.. the carry-on pro with the carry all tote but it’s too wide. I need the 22-14-9 measurement. Any suggestions for a great carry-on with power bank and personal tote/bag for work/student?
It fits in all of the sizers for all of the stingy airlines, I promise the size is fine. My go to currently is Monos, to be honest. If I had to travel with only one it would be their hybrid zipperless model. Maybe one of the totes from Beis. I’ve been carrying the north/south tote all week with my computer (long and skinny) but they also have east/west which is short and wider.
love all your videos, they’ve been so helpful! i have a trip to europe in a few weeks and will be flying with lufthansa and vueling. was wondering if you’ve flown these airlines with any of these bags? really don’t want to end up checking at the gate!😭
I haven’t. I honestly started this channel when my Calpak luggage broke in the middle of my honeymoon and was looking for better luggage to replace it.
You have two kind of plastics used on bags. One is HARD plastic, which is ....hard but fragile. (Something like plexiglass) It can not be bended much (I've seen these cases broken). The SOFT plastic can be bended and scratched but because you have the life time warranty, you do not care about any damage. I have been thinking about new suitcae 12 months and decided to buy Away in LIGHT colour! Why? Because I saw lots of dark suitcaises with visible (white) scratches, but not many cream, white coloured with dark scratches (which can be removed). 🙂 I am still expecting scratches but, hey, it is a suitcase! It is not about the things outside but the things inside. 😉
I don’t like the inside either, haha. After using the compression in my top 2 bags, nothing else compares. But that’s just my opinion. I’m happy you like your bag!
Honestly, thank you for your review! I was quite tempted to buy Beis carry on but since I live in Europe it would be quite a bumper to check it in all the time :(
I have the Away smaller carry on and it fits on all European carriers, BUT it got so scratched up after my first trip-I never check it, but after spending over $300 I was so heartbroken, I started to buy stickers on my travels and now have stickers from all over the world on it.
@@ItsTheKellys I did but I couldn’t find the difference in dimensions. I like the idea of the expansion but not if it will give me trouble on international flights.
Can you review bag durability based off the wheels as well? I think throwing them around is helpful but I wanna know the longevity of the wheels and handle rolling on all terrain!
I don’t always throw all of them around unless they claim to be indestructible. But I do update when I travel with them. Any bag I’ve traveled with on here I’ve never had a problem with wheels, and I’m always on cobblestone too!
I have the BÉIS carryon, and need another suitcase for international travel. One thing I don’t like about the BEIS is that it doesn’t always roll comfortably on hotel carpet. Between BEIS, July, and Monos which wheels do best on carpet?
@@ItsTheKellys I look forward to the update. I was in an airport this week with carpet and I had to roll it traditionally (tilted), it would glide upright like some of my others have. Hope that makes sense
I find your reviews so helpful! I am looking to purchase a carry on that fits most international carry on. I would like the bag to be expandable (just in case I overshop). I also want feature to include a compression pad. Suggestions - Monos looks great, but is it too big for international travel and its not expandable. what would you reccommend? I know your feelings on Away, though they check all the boxes! Thx!
Monos isn’t expandable but is the correct size. Heys is expandable, the correct size, but no compression pad. If you really need all 3, I guess Away is your option, but I would NEVER spend money on that bag again. I’m currently traveling with my Heys earth tone and my friend is with me with the Heys Airlite and they are wonderful.
I’m so glad to hear! Let me know if you need more help or questions! I’m trying to do a lot more helpful packing videos but I need to know what people need help with!
It would still work, I promise. Even though it’s “wider” the linear inches still add up and it never has a problem. Although I do have a new favorite this year
I am now trying to decide if I should go for the clay color July carry on or wait for the sky-blue color to be restocked. How would you best describe the clay color? It is hard to tell online. Is it more of a salmon color? It definitely seems more of a warm bronzy pink to me compared to a clay red. Thanks in advance!
This video was an amazing comparison. Thank you! Would you ever consider reviewing the Smart Birdy luggage? It's been out for *years* and I can't really find any honest reviews on it, which is sooo weird. It looks attractive and nice, but there has to be a catch since there are no real reviews. (I've found only one unboxing video with an attempt to pack, with no follow up video.)
Are you surprised by my top 5? Share your thoughts below!
Yes! I thought Beis would be top 2 regardless lol. Didn’t think about traveling international though 👍🏿

Narrowed it down to the two brands because of the bumper ends for protection from dents and dings. Maybe you can do a comparison in the future . Or give me your advice 😉
next would be Rimowa? 😂
Haha I wish. I have reached out!
I like my July carry on, looking to get check in luggage now.
Private flight attendant for 13+ years here and this was the exact video I needed! Thank you!
You’re welcome!
Thank you for taking the time to do this video. Beis has been the bag I had been considering but the fact that it probably is too big for carry on for international travel has changed my mind. I agree when you are spending that amount of money on a bag, you should be able to take it on any trip.
Makes total sense right? I beg them everyday to make a smaller one for us!
I was in the exact same mindset. I was going to go with Beis also but after seeing this I think I will go with July. Mainly because I think the battery charger will come in handy plus the color choices are nice.
Really would love the Beis especially with the new colors they have, but it only fits as a carry on 2 of the 24 airlines it has listed.
I did a video where I put it in the sizers. I did fit in all domestic airlines… but international- nope!
I think I’ll get a beis set for domestic travel and monos or July set for international travel (:
Thank you so much! I have a discount code for monos if you want one! In the description! I just got a second one, too!the hybrid carry on luggage!
Same here !
This was sooo hepful! Thank you for an honest and * clear * comparison review!!! July was at my top tie position before this review, love that you put cases through the torture test!
I’m glad it was helpful! July is literally unbreakable!!
Your videos are a Godsend! Need something for a honeymoon to the Bahamas. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
You are so welcome! I’ve reviewed a ton more since this video, so feel free to check out my playlist!
Sounds like a great combination 😍😍
We went with Monos because it fits most domestic airlines (22x14x9). July is too wide at 15”
Is this correct ??? to wide for domestic ??
@@BPe-ie9je yes
I’ve been eying the JULY one and your review on other brands cemented my decision! Thank you for taking them through the wringer 😅
Yes level 8 is amazing!!!! The wheels are so impressive!
It might sound silly but I like the handle, Level 8
I agree!
😤 Just when I settled on Monos. Ok gotta check out some July reviews first. Thank you for the informative video. BTW I love your fashion sense. And tattoos 👍🏽😊
Thanks Lisa! You can’t go wrong with either! Since getting my monos hybrid, it might beat July!
Me too!! Was leaning towards Monos and then I see this review haha!
I too was leaning towards Monos and now I’m checking out July 😅
How’d the bag hold up? I’m considering the Light as well.
Thanks for your honest reviews! I own two aways for 1 year now. The inside zipper is broken in one of them and the compression strap is broken in the other one. I am back on the market for new luggage again.
July or Monos 100%! I’m sorry to hear that about your away bag… their quality is not great for that price tag! 🫣
Aw you made my day! 🥰🥰🥰 You definitely made the right choice with July. I can’t wait to finally travel with mine!
Hi have you used your July? I’m on the fence between July and monos. Being monos is $80 cheaper right now too!
Thank you! I have been researching for months and had no clear winner. I stumbled across your channel and just purchased a July Family Set in Sand and I cannot wait to receive it.
Let me know how you like it!
Let me know how you like it when you use it! I’ll check out the other one you mentioned- I’ve never heard of it!
I originally ordered Away luggage before discovering Monos back in 2020 and sent it back and ordered Monos carry-on and medium size luggage love them held up well on my international flight home , I might have to get a July carry-on though after seeing youre review on it as a backup piece I think it's perfect good review.
Thanks Lisa! Monos and july are so great!
I love my Beis bag too. If I flew airlines that allowed it, I’d use it a lot more!
I’m so happy I came upon your videos. I’ve never flown internationally and needed a perfect carryon because I don’t want to check in my bags. Thank you so much!
You’re so welcome!
Your videos are so helpful fr, thank you!!
Glad you like them! 💕
Really appreciate this video! FYI: I decided to go with the Level8 (even though it's heavy) because you put it in every sizer you could find, and so I feel pretty confident this should work as a carry on for wherever I go, which for me is important. Thank you so much! :)
Awesome, Greg! It’s actually not as heavy as I said in the video, it was a mistake on their website :)
@@ItsTheKellys So what’s the actual weight?
According to my luggage scale right this second, it is 7.96 pounds
With the new weight info, would you still put it as #3?
Thanks for this video. This is confirmation that my family made great purchases. Mt husband had a July and I have a Monos. We love them
Yes!! Great choices :)
I have a ton of packing videos on here and a lot of them are for 2 weeks!
@@ItsTheKellys I am leaving in a week but I'll report back if they do check!
Living and traveling in SE Asia I discovered that some airlines have weight restrictions forcarryon luggage. My carryon wasn’t even full and it weighed too much. Fortunately I got 1 free checked bag.
Carry on weight restrictions are so silly. I wish they would do away with that!
July doesn’t do promo codes or sales ever, so I don’t have any discount for you :-/
Thank you for your reviews. They are very informative. I debated for a long time before seeing this review, between Beis and Monos carry ons and finally settled on Monos due to price and warranty. It arrived today!
Yay! Which one did you get?!
@@ItsTheKellys The Monos carry on in grey

This was a great review. Monos and Level8 have been at the top of my list and your review is so helpful.
That’s great to hear! Let me know which one you choose!
I'm just learning about July and Monos from you...July needs the Carry On Lite in the Cherry red...the purchase would be made today!!!
Yessss. I just got one in the sand color.
@@1Diostabonyou can get the quince or heys airlite- they are just under 6 pounds but still a good carry on size! I have reviews of both!
Disregard, just saw your answer about Samsonite
Thank you!

I love my monos!!! I have the carry on plus and the backpack. Ive had it since 2019. First “high end” luggage and i’m obsessed.
I’m so glad to hear that! 💕
you are the queen of this! thank you so much because this has always been such a big deal for my family, friends and others
💜💜💜💜
Loved this, super surprised! I just bought the beis! ❤
Yeah but that was all I had then and it still would have been last. I have an updated version for 2023
Ordered My July luggage set because of your view, Keep up the great work you Channel is Awesome 😍
Thank you so much Monica! What color did you go with?
Thank you so much! Since I am going to Europe and will be in Serbia. Level 8 is probably I should invest on to buy it
I now travel every other month for work and have been looking at these brands for a wheeled carry on (which I do not currently have) - the Away, July and Monos are not in my budget but the Level 8 seems well priced!
Thank you for the comparison! Can you do one for check in suitcases / trunks comparing the same brands?
I don’t check bags and I encourage others not to either on this channel, but I can tell you, the checked versions are exactly the same, just bigger! I showed the Monos ones in my pop up store video, and compared all of the check in sizes. ruclips.net/video/WTAMwl_hb_0/видео.html
Hi Lauren! This was a great review, I have the Beis carry on and am now thinking about getting the Monos because of the size factor. Also completely off topic but your hair looks amazing, wondering if you would consider doing a tutorial on how you do your curls etc; maybe a shorts. Thanks!!!
Thank you! Yes I am definitely due to do a hair video. I promise I will soon!
Great review! But I would go with Monos simply because it will fit the international carryon size restrictions. The July one seems too large.
They are honestly about the same size, but yes, Monos is incredible. The hybrid (not pictured here) is my new favorite :)
I'm so glad that you did this video, also I feel better about beis being completely sold out in the 2 colors I wanted. July it is!
Yay! Which color?!
I just got one and It will be out on Sunday :)
Heys luggage is one I haven’t reviewed yet but they do have some smaller ones too!
Great video. Very informative,mi have never heard of July.
Thank you. July is great! They are Australian and I got to visit their store recently. Amazing products!
Very thorough review! Thank you sooooo much! I really appreciate you doing this
You’re welcome!!
They would never send me one of their luggages :-/ but I keep trying
I have 3 of the 5 - Monos, Away and Beis. Monos is my fave due to the weight!
Awesome! I LOVE monos. I’m going to try the hybrid one next!
Appreciate the reviews! Always very helpful

Still got the away in Coast, just the smaller Carry On. Looks great, and I have a store less than 5 miles away, making potential warranty repairs easy. Only used it once so far, but no complaints yet.
Let me know how it holds up! Enjoy it :)
Thanks for this review! I was looking for a small, lightweight bag to travel to Japan. This was very helpful 😊
You’re welcome! Which one are you most interested in? 🥰

Yay! Let me know how it goes! My friend just ordered the light expandable and I’m so excited to see it!
Hi, Have you ended up buying their luggage? any advice?

Thank you! I’m traveling with my new hybrid one next! (That review comes out Saturday!)
Thanks for the review, I wonder have you heard of Solgaard luggage? Hopefully you get a chance to review one of their carry on closet. More power!
I have heard of them and have reached out several times. Personally, I think the carry on closet is ridiculous and such a waste of space, but I am trying to review it for you guys one day!
Packing cubes can help you fit almost twice as much stuff in one side of the luggage :)
you're so funny rolling all of the carry-ons in the snow! 😂
I think I’m gonna go with the smallest monos with the exterior pouch
I write you back about it on your other comment 💕
You too would throw that damn lugged down those freakin stairs and let’s see if the wheels would survive 🤣
I have no problem with peeps making money.
Aw thank you! Let me know what you end up getting :)
Love the comparison to the top brands; when will you do a video comparing weekender/personal bags? Thanks
I Will eventually. The hardest part about weekenders and personal item bags is there’s so many different types to compare. I have probably 45.
Which bags use a double coil zipper to prevent someone from gaining access by simply using a pen to poke the zippers?
Thanks
Beis and Monos wouldn’t let me in with a pen. Away and level8 did. My July bag is traveling right now so I can’t test it
@@ItsTheKellys Thank You 👍🏻
love all your videos, they’ve been so helpful! i have a trip to europe in a few weeks and will be flying with lufthansa and vueling. was wondering if you’ve flown these airlines with any of these bags? really don’t want to end up checking at the gate!😭
It’s been a while since I did Vueling. If you do any of the top 3 that are 22 x14x9, it should be fine
Have you reviewed calpak hard shell carry on with outer pocket? Your reviews are amazing, great information!
I haven’t. I honestly started this channel when my Calpak luggage broke in the middle of my honeymoon and was looking for better luggage to replace it.
@@ItsTheKellys thanks! I actually decided to purchase the beis beige carry on 😃! Your reviews are very helpful, thank you!
@@yc9070 enjoy it!
This was a really good and informative review! Thank you.
You’re welcome!
Great video!!! Very informative. Thank you so much. Loved it!!
Thanks Julie! 💜💜
Honestly, thank you for your review! I was quite tempted to buy Beis carry on but since I live in Europe it would be quite a bumper to check it in all the time :(
Yes it’s such a beautiful bag but it is huge compared to the little ones everyone brings around for cabin bags there!
I have the Away smaller carry on and it fits on all European carriers, BUT it got so scratched up after my first trip-I never check it, but after spending over $300 I was so heartbroken, I started to buy stickers on my travels and now have stickers from all over the world on it.
Such a bummer, right? But fun idea!
Thank you Lauren! I had narrowed down my choices to July & Level8. With your great advice I’ve decided July it is 🎉
Yay! What bag and color are you getting, Emily?!
@@ItsTheKellys I was looking at the Carry On Light in clay but it’s sold out. I think I may go for the standard Carry On in dark burgundy.
The burgundy looks nice! Have you seen that they have an expandable light now?
@@ItsTheKellys I did but I couldn’t find the difference in dimensions. I like the idea of the expansion but not if it will give me trouble on international flights.
It should be fine. It says 21.26in H x 14.17in W x 8.66in D (9.45in D when expanded.
This was such a great breakdown! Thank you so much.
You’re welcome! :)
I have the BÉIS carryon, and need another suitcase for international travel. One thing I don’t like about the BEIS is that it doesn’t always roll comfortably on hotel carpet. Between BEIS, July, and Monos which wheels do best on carpet?
Im actually going to test this soon, and I’ll have to let you know. I don’t use them on carpet often to pay attention (apparently lol)
This was a GREAT review! Thank you!
You are so welcome!
Love your video. I’m trying to be a better packer, along with finally investing in quality pieces.
I’m so glad to hear! Let me know if you need more help or questions! I’m trying to do a lot more helpful packing videos but I need to know what people need help with!
OoooK it's Monos for me. Love the bumper ends on the July case. Going with Monos cuz it's lighter
Awesome! Check out the hybrid too if you like bumpers! And use my code “ITSTHEKELLYS” for 5% off it you want a little discount. Every bit helps!
Thank you for this video! Super helpful :)
I’m happy you found it helpful!
Ugh! As of summer 2023, Virgin Atlantic carry on limit is 22 x 14 x 9 so Monos beats out July.
I’d say salmon. It’s not pink but it’s not terracotta.
@@ItsTheKellys Thank you! That helps.
I can always reach out to the company, but it does seem very small and impractical, although adorable.
