- 🔸 This video was made to not only review the NEW Front Pocket Carry On from BEIS, but to measure it in person, after several confusing and potentially misleading measurement announcements on their website.
Measurements are important in the carry on world, because a consumer may purchase a bag to fly a certain airline because of the measurements. If a bag doesn't live up to the measurements, you could be denied boarding with your luggage, therefore incurring additional fees. When luggage is NOT returnable after use, we definitely want potential customers to know the correct size before purchasing.**

I started a return because of their inaccurate size description but they said they will charge me a handling fee - I’m trying to explain that the reason why I bought it is because of the size and yet I’m not getting what they were advertising. I love my other Beis items but I got scammed with this.

I was so excited for this piece since we travel internationally frequently, I still can’t believe that BEIS hasn’t created a carry-on that complies with most international airlines, they are missing out on a big market!

Monos and others are in the same boat..
Monos’ regular size is 45 linear inches and internationally accepted on most airlines
Wow. That is crazy, that their measurements were so out of whack! And it is very baffling that the founder is Canadian and yet the company ignores the needs of fellow Canadians. I am not a fan of Pro bags in general. It just makes more sense to have a Personal Item bag that holds a laptop and other electronics. Also, as other viewer mentioned, the fact that the front compartment is a different material results in looking like it is a different color from the main part of the bag. It is simply very disappointing in so many ways. Thank you for spotting the inconsistencies and posting this video.

Never go into business- you would be terrible at it. Look at the size of the USA market compared to the Canadian market. You’d be dumb to cater to Canadians and I say this as a Canadian. If she was ONLY famous in Canada and had only a Canadian audience- THEN it would make sense. But she is just as famous in the USA as here so she is smart to market her business to their massive population
Thanks for taking one for the team and purchasing the bag to PROVE the measurements. Unbelievable! They took out it’s expandability too, which is something I loved about the old model (just in case I buy something too bulky!). I’m still looking at Monos for my next carry on. Once Beis gets the dimensions right, the best advertisement will be Shay at the airport putting it in all the sizers like you and Brian do! 😂

I fly WestJet pretty much exclusively and have been waiting for Beis to come out with a carry on that would fit. You saved me $300+ Canadian and the hassle of returning this, as I was about to pull the trigger. There's even a review someone wrote on their website that it fits Air Canada, no problem! Thank you so much for this.
Also... do you have any recommendations for carry ons that would fit Air Canada/WestJet?
Check out Heys! Those Canadians are doing it right :) their Airlite and naturals collection fit perfectly in the AC sizer.

Thanks so much for purchasing and testing this suitcase! I genuinely don't understand why Beis can't just come out with an international size bag. And listing the wrong measurements on their site will lead to a lot of people being very unhappy. Plus, the weight being off by a pound isn't great, either. This is a big deal and I have no idea why they aren't fixing this. I can't believe they're not aware of the issue.

Im not impressed I was going to get this bag for myself and my husband for his birthday September but there is NO way this will work! We are from Canada 🇨🇦 and 100% of our flights are international I’m shocked Shea made a bag like this!!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH for remembering this! I can't believe the difference.....and...Shame on them for just not being real with customers. That would stink getting to the airport and finding out your new bag doesn't fit (when you think it will). Just more anxiety than needed

I love my Beis carry-on, and if they came out with a truly international sized bag, I would probably jump at the chance to get it. (I hope you’re listening, Beis!). For now I will stick with my Take-Off suitcase and my Bento Bag. (All purchased because of your reviews!)

So, tired of looking for luggage that fits within the airlines regulations and luggage companies that promote them as carry-on or international carry-on sized and they aren't. Like you said, why don't they just build it to fit the sizing and advertise it that way. And, then the consumer can make the choice if it is right for them instead of having to return it with a note saying, "does not meet airline sizes". Keep it up!!!!
There are very few pieces of luggage that I find that work well for international. The best ones have been the July light and the heys Airlite (or a few of their other ones). Not only are the sizes great, but the weight too, if that’s a factor.

@@ItsTheKellys Wish i saw your original Calpak video! Because I have a Calpak that I just purchased this past March(they had 2 in one sale), and the carry on is perfect size for international…now I’m afraid it will fall apart! I’m also checking in the big one (empty)to put things we buy.

Thank you SOOOOOO MUCH! I was prepared to purchase all of the “Barbie Pink” luggage. The day they launched, it went to waitlist IMMEDIATELY, so I waitlisted for each piece. I checked the site multiple times every day and about a week later I rec’d a text saying if you have previously waitlisted, please re-waitlist again. I did and when I checked later that day, all of the luggage and “main” items showed “GONE FOR GOOD”. I did purchase sone items which I will be returning and will never purchase from them again.

Thank you so much for doing this for us. While I like the innards of Beis bags, the measurements thing is a definite no-no for me. Besides, I love the brilliant colors of the bags I bought from Heys luggage (I have a knock-your eye out yellow set plus a tropical patterned large checked bag) as when I get off a cruise and I go into that warehouse room to claim my bags, I can spot them immediately. Well done!

Thanks for this! Just bought their regular carry-on for an upcoming domestic trip and am so excited to use it but started second guessing myself when I saw it wouldn't fit on international. I don't like the pocket in the front or the look of the fabric but wondered if I should exchange. Gonna keep what I've got and figure out something else for international (and hope the one I have won't give me the blues on domestic trips!). Appreciate the review!
The employees at the boarding counter DO NOT care about a carry on 1-2 inches too big.
They're not going to slow the boarding process down to measure each and every single bag.
Also, all the popular RUclips brands are too big: Mono, July, Level 8, Quince, etc.

I really was hoping Beis would be a good comparable to Level 8 as far as an international carry on is concerned. Not a big fan either of the "pro" carry-ons. Thank you for this video!
I don’t know who they designed this bag for. Either you’re the type of person who wants a fool proof carryon or you’re someone who is willing to live a little dangerously and risk having to check a bag just to have something a little roomier (I admit, I’m in this camp! I’m bringing my Beis to Spain this fall and have made peace with the fact that I’ll have to check it for my Vueling flight to Granada. So long as I don’t have to check it on my flight to Barcelona on American, it’s fine). If you’re in the former, this bag is too big, but if you’re the later, you may as well make it just as tall as the original Beis suitcase! Who cares if the suitcase is an inch shorter when it’s likely to be 1-2” beefier if you make full use of the front pocket? They’ve already thrown out the rule book on what’s acceptable for a reliable carryon size, so why not add back that 150 cubic inches of packing space? Either way, this bag ain’t fooling anyone.

What pro luggage will be best for international and doesn’t take up much space inside the suitcase. Can you do a video for all pro luggage so we can see how much space it takes up
It will be coming soon. I am actually not a pro bag fan one bit- if they make you gate check your bag, you need to take your electronics out anyway, so my laptop is always in my personal item.

💯 a deal breaker. I’m also 90% international traveler. I saw this suitcase & the weird dimensions. I called my airline & it was a swift no, too big. Thanks for confirming this and your efforts on going to the airport. It helps a lot. The fabric outer pocket is a big no. Unfortunately Beis has been shady before & their customer service doesn’t have good reviews.

Thank you, we fly air canada and I was really hoping this would fit their sizing. So glad I watched your video before purchasing. Torn between monos, level 8 and heys as they all seem like they would fit. Really hard to choose though, monos has a slight edge for me due to the extra compression, but im not sure if it will actually help me with already using packing cubes. Any advice?
I do love the compression, especially if you buy things while traveling. But I bought a lot in bora bora and the heys was still great, I just put my cubes on the side with the x strap!

It's really unfortunate that they didn't get the depth right with this one. The standard carry-on size is 22 x 14 x 9 and Air Canada is 21.5 x 15.5 x 9. So it's nice that they actually made a wider carry-on bag but really sad that they just couldn't get the 9 inch depth, which I would argue is the most important if you're trying to claim your luggage as carry-on.
Thanks so much for the video!! Really disappointed with this suitcase AND with the lack of transparency on the company's side! I love the looks of Beis luggage and would love to get their carry on but as I live in Europe it'd be a waste of money. I wonder if they realise that the reason their Sherbet collection carry ons haven't sold out on the EU website is because they're completely unsuitable for any European airline.

British airways carry on dimensions are 22Hx18Wx10D or 56x45x25 for those who measure in centimetres, so you can’t utilise the pocket in the uk :((

What airline are you flying? Unfortunately it’s likely too big, and the weekender is more of a carry on size.

You were able to get the bigger Beis carry on roller into the Air Canada carry on sizer in a previous video, how did the smaller one not fit? Would a bit of wiggling have helped?
The regular beis is skinnier than this one, and the regular one’s wheels stuck out of the sizer, therefore not really fitting. I was corrected after making that video and had to make a statement about it.

@@ItsTheKellys hi there! just to give an update, I flew on Austrian Airlines and Lufthansa (Lufthansa Group) over the festive season (VIE-JFK-LAX-MUC-VIE). I didn't fit it in the cabin sizer, but I had no issues taking it as checked in luggage and it fit in the overhead compartment. I also flew Delta Airlines, and wasn't asked to check it in (didn't try it in the bag sizer either), but it also fit in the overhead compartment.
I love how they still haven’t changed the measurements to the actual size online yet. Like what are they doing. 😂🤦🏻♀️👎

I have been waiting for this review and soo disappointed. For domestic travel, you may as well go with the original carry on that is also expandable. They should’ve just scrapped this one until they got the sizing right and added a pocket to the OG carry on. I wonder if the larger wheels will be better on carpet.

I'd love a small luggage. Great for solo trips as I'm never gone usually more than 4 days. I currently pack for my son and I in a thicker carry on but mommas getting old and weak 😅 so maybe I need 2 small carry ons
Hi Lauren, this is off the subject but is there a head pillow you would recommend for long flights?
I don’t use neck pillows! I just book a window seat and use the airline pillow :) they are too big and bulky and fall off your bag. Not to mention touching the floor on the plane when you’re not using it 🙈

Hi there! I’m taking a trip to Saint Lucia and we are flying with Delta, do you think I’ll have an issue with my original Beis carry on? Looking at Delta’s website size, it looks like it will be to big to carry on… but I wanted to hear your thoughts.
As long as it’s actually Delta and not a partner, you should be fine. They take anything.

I’ve reviewed so many on here, and have one playlist for luggage and one for personal items. It really depends on what he is looking for and the airline allowance!

22 is fine! Monos fits in all of them. It’s the width and depth on this one that’s bad.

I finally bought Hanke 20" ivory, not-clamshell (though they do have clamshell) for a trip on Lufthansa to Europe. ✈ I had to return the original Beis Carry-On because even that was too big for international travel! 🧳 Beis is making some poor business decisions. At least there is Lots of Room... for Improvement. 😄😆

@@ItsTheKellys Hi Lauren- this is what Beis said to me: "it was sized smaller to fit most airlines. As always, please check with your carrier first". But that's not the point- their measurement is totally wrong according to their website.

Pick block color and you'll be fine. New jets all have big overhead bins
It’s no doubt that it will fit in the overhead bin. But a lot of different airlines these days are making you put your carry on into the bins at the gate, and charging people money if they don’t fit.
Weren’t you able to get the regular beis carryon in the air Canada sizer? So the new one is actually bulkier. 😩
It is thicker with the front pocket, yes. The OG roller fit in the bin only because the wheels stuck out. It is technically too big and I actually had to make a statement about it 😂

This is very disappointing. I was so sure that I was going to purchase the Beis original carry on UNTIL I saw one of your videos. I have a trip planned to Quebec, Canada with Air Transat this December. I’m also going to France, Belgium, and the Netherlands next summer, and I am on the hunt for the perfect carry-on bag that I can take on international trips and on domestic trips, if I need to. It’s very sad to see this updated bag will not be a good choice.
When looking at the Air Transat allowance it says 9”, 16”, 20” and seems like the Monos and July bag (one of which I was considering purchasing) it still slightly too big :(
Most of the time if the width allows for 16 (and it’s 14) and the height is 20 (but it’s 22) it will be ok, because of linear inches
Didn't you post a video a while back with a bunch of Beis luggae and testing it on a number or airlines and the original carry-on actually worked fine for air canada?
I was corrected on that one and announced it in the description of the video. Because the air Canada bin is a “cage” instead of a tin bin (like most) the wheels stuck way out of it, meaning it indeed did NOT fit. However, it was thinner than this one, fitting depth wise.
Does the original BEIS carry on fit in the Air Canada sizer?
It fit a year ago when Lauren took a bunch of bags to test at the Detroit airport, but she mentioned in this video that Air Canada has been more strict/stingy about carryon sizing recently which makes me wonder if they’ve changed their sizers to be a little tighter.
It did in my original video because the OG Beis bag is actually skinnier than this one. It is def too big for air Canada, but with their unique crate like bin- it actually fit, BUT the wheels stuck out, and I didn’t realize. I had to make a statement 😂
@@ItsTheKellys thanks! We have the original BEIS carryon but for international I was thinking of getting Away Carry On (I have their bigger carry on) I know you’re not such an Away fan. Which other carry on luggage is reliably small enough for international?
@@Rsklausner the Heys Airlite is good when you need lightweight, and they have a ton of ones under 7 lbs and within the proper dimensions! I took them to the same sizer and they fit beautifully.

Bigger wheels can be helpful, and the outer pocket is always helpful for more organization/quick grabbing items, but ultimately, if you can't carry on a carry-on, what's the point?
Disappointing because I like a lot of their features overall, but I think I'll have to go to Beis for a future larger bag. Definitely not carry-on.
(Also, the capacity is huge compared to other carry-ons, which is also sadly a red flag.)
Air Canada is Rude Strict. I bought a bag in Japan to bring home some souvenirs and grabbed the first thing I found and it fit perfect by chance. It is impossible to find a U.S. bag that fits Air Canadas dimensions.
Both of my Heys bags fit perfectly in there, and my Monos carry on!
I got this just for my international trip. We are going to London to catch our cruise. Does it matter if out international carrier is American. I know American also flys within the US. 😡 I wish I would have see this sooner.
It depends on if it’s really American Airlines or if it’s one of their partners, such as British Airways.

The weight indicator is NOT a light. A red mark will appear if your luggage is over 50 lbs.
Either way, it turns red. I’ve tried to pack a Beis carry on over 50 pounds and I’ve never been able to!

Beautiful bag still too big for international. Especially Emirates they are really strict with their sizes. 8” depth 15 pound weight is insane.

That both luggages are acceptable in carryon in asian airline aslong it is not beyond 7kg
They usually have to be under 45 linear inches on about 90% of airlines. Both Beis bags are over 8 pounds, making it hard to stay under 7kg

That’s disappointing I think I’ll start focusing on roam luggage tho they are extremely expensive it may be a better invest

Deal breaker... I got the carry-on with their flash sale.When took it out of the box I immediately noticed it was too big as a carry-on and I am an international flyer. I will use it for other things but, I won't buy from them again until they make a true carry-on for multiple airlines domestic and international..
