Its not even just the decibel levels that make southern better. Their overall clarity is astonishing consider how much air they pushing through those instruments. Every section is holding their weight down the the clarinets and piccolos. The only section that gets lost in the sax but thatd just cause they usually have the same lines as mellos

I have no dog in this fight. TNSU was pretty good, but they have definitely sounded better in previous years. Their tone quality has dropped. SU was SU but on a notably cleaner level. I could actually hear every instrument, even the woodwinds. The cutoffs were also clean too. I enjoyed both bands, however i found southern to be more entertaining to the ear. It’s all preference though.
They only reason TnSU doesn't give as much power as SU is brass numbers. And TnSU is powerful, SU is just off the scale! TnSU gives everything SU does except power and at times energy. But it's two different styles that's why I love watching then battle
While that's first sentence was facts that second was not. The Juke gives you volume, intonation, AND sound quality with complex arrangement. It's sounding like another unbeatable year for SU.

We learned now that this song SU plays was probably their best song all year. We also learned that JSU was the best band all year. Last thing we learned is that TnSU sounded good all year! This was a good opening battle of the year. This camera angle did TnSU no favors though. Great sound both bands.
Um.. Yeah... Shout-out to Tenn State.. But SU stay eatin.. I will give credit that Tenn S had nice tubas and Trumpets. Besides that the rest of the band was just there. You can clearly hear multiple sections with SU. While playing together. SU stay setting standards and raising the bar.
