This was a good battle. NSU took the win for me. I loved TSU's dirty diana but something about NSU's version just makes you wanna do the stank face 😈!! It's darker but still lit. 🔥 Both bands did great but Norfolk's balance and clarity something serious!!!
Those Spartan Guards don't play. I saw a little altercation between them and what looked like an Nsu football player at the beginning of the video towards the bottom left of the screen. I also liked how they were directing traffic during the beginning of Nsu's 2nd song. True security guards!
NSU is my home band, but i attended TSU, so im mixed on my feelings. NSU really came through and said "cut the check" and TSU was like " OK lets do this again". Im hearing rumors that TSU is coming to NSU next year. I hope so...would love to do this again!!

It sounds like NSU was scouting TSU. I’m biased towards TSU but…😢. NSU came prep’d with specific goal. Norfolk came with complex dark arrangements, just like TSU is known too do. Like they picked specific songs that sounded like they were match to go against what they knew TSU would play. It’s always nice to see bands playing music in style it was written.

Naw, they cool in the MEAC…other MEAC bands are coming up so they should have more competition soon…in the meantime, they’ll continue to slap these so called “heavyweight bands” in the Deep South

Most of the popular bands since the shift of 2011(iykyk) are in the swac. And it's not alot of coverage of tennessee state especially since it seems every year the amount of other hbcus with bands they plays gets smaller and smaller

It felt like all bands started cleaning house, not putting out as much content out cause it was a giant dark cloud over the culture. Even the videos by third party creators that use to come out every week stop coming so rapidly. And I feel southern ,alabama state amongst other swac bands capitalized on the yr to 2 yr void from Nov 2011 to beginning of 2013 when the shift started to focus on majorettes and stand battles(the swac bread n butter). People gravitated towards that and the eyes as well as the sounds in some bands and thier younger contemporaries(high school feeder) sounded more swac than thier own unique sound
NSU was cleaner and sound was quite bigger than expected for there size, but I can’t be bias TSU had a pretty big sound and was cleaner than I would’ve thought. I would like to us as in NSU get more tubas, and even more brass overall if possible in the next several years . #BEHOLD 💚

Year After Year They Hold The Gold Standard In Musicianship. Being From Virginia Myself And Having Marched For Henrico High School From 06-10 I Know About Musicianship. NSU was Our Standard When We Were Performing And It Won Us Championships. RIP JOHN SCOTT OUR BAND DIRECTOR FROM HENRICO Ok ok....Tennessee Sounds Damn Good Too And Their Trombones cutting like a knife 🔪.

I was looking forward to hearing it after it got flagged in Killa Kev’s version but it was really good, but not spectacular. The Dr. Doom theme gave me that jump-out-of-my-seat feeling that I was looking for from Star Trek
So far the best 5th battle of the season. TSU sounded great, but I have to give Norfolk the W. The song selections and the arrangements were an absolute beast. I'll admit I wasn't always the biggest Norfolk fan, but this band is continuing to impress me.
I Half remembered that one, I knew it was the weekend remake but I keep forgetting the name 🤦🏾♂️. My default list for 5ths always has the question marks and I try to fill it is as we go

I served in the Navy while in Norfolk as a youngin. We always macked their girls while at home games. They thimped back then. I wasn't surprised here. They pressed TsU hard.. TsU sounded like full studio sound though.
Hot Ice is HOT ICE Golden Delight are talented but they aren’t the standard last I checked The Dancing Dolls of Southern University were considered as such. However my beloved HOT ICE can stand toe to toe with the best of them.💚✊🏾💛
@@anthonyphillips7374 There is no standard. Golden Delight is amazing and top tier. Hot Ice is easily mimicking certain details that we can all see. They’re not the only team that does this but what I can say is you don’t see any other team influencing in GD. They are 1 of a kind.
NSU all the way TSU good try. Tuba section for TSU best sounding section and should be there were about 25 but NSU Tubas held their own down. TSU band need to work on quality sound not just playing loud.
