  • Soquel Demonstration forest, also called DEMO for short, is roughly 28 miles from San Jose and it is situated in the Santa Cruz Mountains. For the first time ever, I will be riding down Braille Trail. This Trail happens to be one of several trails in Demo that is a local favorite. It is also #31 best mtb trail in the world according to singletrack.com
Hinh’s Mill road to Sulphur Spring Road is about 2.5 miles which is an easy downhill.
Two good thing about this park is that it is well marked with signs where the trails are located and most of the trails are covered with trees.
Sulphur Spring Road is the hardest part. You’ll make a left to Sulphur Spring Road. The trail is named after the scent of a sulfur mid way on the trail. The climb is under dense tree cover so it’s not so bad during the summer months. From Sulphur Spring Road to Ridge trail is 1.5 miles climb up. Some are decent while there’s some section that are a little steeper but short.
Ridge Trail to Flow is approx. half a mile away.
If you should want to do it again, take Tractor Trail which will take you to Ridge trail then to Braille to ride the roller coaster once more. Be careful not to wipe out!.
Braille - lots of fun single track with stunts built into it such as log drops but no worries there are bail outs to the side. You can even walk it if you do not want to ride down some of the steeper trails. This trail can be for serious beginners to advance moutntain bikers. It just depends on your speed or how hard you ride the trail.
At the "bottom" of Braille Trail, you emerge onto Hihn's Mill Road-a fire road.
Braille - From Hihn’s Mill Road back to the parking lot is 3.3 miles and approx. 600 feet climb
I will be taking videos of all my rides so subscribe to my RUclips.
