@@bereangirl7118 I think Donati was too technical for Dream Theater. Mangini paid due diligence to traditional DT by staying within the realm of what Portnoy did. Virgil just went way beyond the realm of Portnoy and possibl6 beyond the realm of Dream Theater.
Not a fan of modern mangini and his solos and work in dream theatre, still insanely skilled and coordination is one of the best in the world and crazy limb independence but it just doesn’t do much for me personally and don’t really enjoy it as much as his solos back then, mangini was an absolute blazer and insanely fast and his solos were so interesting and creative and told a very good story imo. It prolly has to do with youth vs older age but he seems so stiff like a robot but also plays and hits way softer. Still plays everything on time and we’ll but doesn’t flow as well as before and doesn’t have that energy and power like in this video where he combines everything from flowing to chops to speed to power to independence to creativity and everything in between. He was an absolute monster.
As incredibly talented as Mike is, his solos are too mathematical for my taste. Just groove bro, it's not trigonometry class. Search Joe Travers drum solo if you want to hear my taste in solos.
7:45 sounds like "bleed" by meshuggah 3 years before it's release
I just thought exactly the same thing
this is seriously the most outrageous and outstanding drumming i have ever seen ...............a m a z i n g .
This guy is so amazing the speed and rhythm what he has is mind-boggling like an octopus with those double Notes with each hand absolutely awesome!!!
It's like best of Mangini 🔥🔥🔥 very very unique 👊👊👊
Wow!! He's actually playing a drum solo not just hitting the drums, creative, speed, one one the best I've heard!
Im speechless to bad the video quality wasnt better it kept freezing orher than that the greatest 26 mins of my day
His Ostinato is from another planet that is within his brain.
Finally some new content.... the Genie hasn't been posting much up lately...
7:50 was that bleed before bleed was a thing?🤣
DT needs to utilize this aspect of ManDjinni
Meshuggah Bleed at 7:50 (4 years before Meshuggah)
Speed, limb control AND creativity
Unreal
Mangini is Solid 👌🏼👏🏼😃

@18:16 he just brute force human nervous system, hacking the time. Kinnda like Creating Musical Time Dilation
Fast single strokes Daniel son. Fast singles.
Not his best creative session. But it’s Mike ! ❤
Wait for it...
much love
*23:04** The fastest playing of drums in Human History*
Just like "Buddy Rich" when he's playing a moller , quite a good mixture of things going on here 😊👍
Don't forget Carl Palmer, Terry Bozzio and John Bonham's triplet pattern
Tell that to meshuggah lol
There a dude on RUclips that plays this garbage with one hand smoking a joint with the other.. this is the best drummer ever lmfao
Who cares it's boring
Prime Mangini was a total beast...
This is a fake! That's the Artificial Intelligence! Amazing Mike!!!
@16:30 just so beautiful
한국에도 왔었다니 ㄷㄷㄷ
Is this him practicing or an actual solo.
He reminds me of Terry Bozzio here.
Not only technically mindblowing, but musical.
The best drummer of our time"
I don’t know if you’ve heard Virgil Donati, but that guy is technically more advanced than Mangini (if a thing is even impossible)
@@pipps1158 Oh yea he's one of a kind also. These guys are so far ahead its unbelievable".

The feeling of a robot....
Comprou a bateria nova e está experimentando!
E alguns exercícios.seria bom ser menos matemático e mais orgânico, musicalmente falando.
Technically ok, Musically :/ (...)
Like a robot
Too good for me

Technically he’s a monster . Kind of like Bonamassa on guitar, technically a monster. But I don’t feel soul from these guys !
Perhaps you have no soul.
if it weren't for the technical proficiency This would not even be worthy of a high school player.
This guy needs lessons
He’s a master technician, not a musician. Because this is loaded with technique, but there’s no music here.
What? 🤔
XD
Mangini, with all his technique and skillfulness, has such a boring, non creative playing.
hmmmm nope
XD
A lot of technic, not very pleasing to listen to
Nothing special, beginner technique exercises
no imagination of odd rhythms
Surprisingly awful.
JUST BORING.
