For people that do not know this song and have seen my video versions of this with and without the click track, I mixed my live drums from this EU 2022 Show with the album music from our 2011 Dream Theater release, "A DRAMATIC TURN OF EVENTS." The pic in pic view isn't the easiest to see, but it is there so drummers can see which foot I'm using and when. I switch my left foot to being the "main" one to entertain myself, to work it out so it doesn't just sit there all night, and also because it keeps me focussed and alert.

Mr. Mangini, it is such an honor to watch your art being communicated with "Bridges in the Sky." Letting others observe your word under such a microscope concludes that your level of life/family and health balance, performance ability, courage, musicianship, drumming technique, & possibly some spiritual journey, has surpassed the most advanced players of our time. I not only sit in silence in awe observing these clips but feel a deep sense of inner peace. Your intelligence continues to raise the bar in the drumming/artist/musician community, giving students of the instrument hope and encouragement during a time where routine practicing can be difficult amid such daily distractions. Everything all coming together, in such balance, for such a brief moment, 11 minutes... enough to demonstrate what truly can be possible! A lifetime of commitment celebrated. With that said, thank you. Wishing you and your family the safest, healthiest, and most blessed day out there. -K

Its crazy that he's 60 years old and can still play like in the 90s. Kinda sad to see him aging and using more effort though 😢

I’m so sad dt has kicked him. I love portnoy but they won grammy cause of mangini and petrucci on The alien. You can’t deny that. Well its their band after all but still it sucks to see mangini leave

    • @SteveThaDrummer
      @SteveThaDrummer 8 месяцев назад

@@dharshdanube6911what's worse is this: Portnoy was the one that left when everyone else wanted to continue, then when Avenged Sevenfold told him they weren't going to hire him full time, he tried to come back to DT, only to be rebuffed again and was told they had already hired Mangini. From then on, up until this year, Petrucci and Labrie both stated on several occasions that the lineup with Mangini WAS DT and that he was not going anywhere. So to me, they went back on their words. I understand Portnoy is an original member - I was inspired by him early on in my playing after they began airing on MTV - but HE left the band because HE burned himself out by controlling too much and not sharing duties with the rest of the band. Now don't get me wrong, Portnoy is a great drummer and has inspired so many again including me, but to me he burned his bridge by thinking Avenged Sevenfold was going to take him full time, much like a cheating spouse that leaves for a mistress only to be snubbed and try to come back home. All that said, this whole thing pisses me off because Mangini poured his heart and sweat into getting in the band and busted his ass for 13 years, taking their creativity to new levels, being told he was a permanent member only to be snubbed and for what?? The man helped them get their first Grammy - not that DT ever really cared for that longtime-rigged nonsense anyway. I'm interested in seeing if Portnoy has grown from his burnout and helps write some better music than the last few albums before he quit, and for the love of all creation doesn't try and take away control from the band and derail the dynamic they've built in his absence. Either way, they did Mangini wrong, but at the end of the day, Mangini is better off as his capabilities are beyond the band.

    Blackness awakens
    Visions come alive
    Seeing through darkness
    With borrowed eyes
    Death survivor
    Take me higher
    Reunite my soul
    Whisperer of truth
    I trust in you
    To make me whole
    Sun
    Come shine my way
May healing waters bury all my pain
    Wind
    Carry me home
The fabric of reality is tearing apart
The piece of me that died
    Will return
    To live again
    Feeling myself slip away
    Suddenly dreaming awake
    Hidden memories
    Flooding back
I will not grow in the light
Until I pass through the darkest caverns of my heart
    Dance with fire
Spirit guide erase the world outside
    Messenger of truth
    I trust in you
    Transform me now
    Sun
    Come shine my way
May healing waters bury all my pain
    Wind
    Carry me home
The fabric of reality is tearing apart
The piece of me that died
    Will return
    To live again
And at last the time has come
    To unite again as one
To the power of the Earth I'm calling
    Crossing bridges in the sky
On a journey to renew my life
    Shaman take my hand
    Sun
    Come shine my way
May healing waters bury all my pain

This was absolutely incredible, one of my favorite Dream Theater songs. I haven't been able to go to a DT concert yet so the closest I can get is watching your drum cams and listening to the live albums (really hope the band puts out a live album for the new album tour). Please do more of these videos!!

Wrong! I think he ruined DT. The band is not even close of what it used to be. Tbh its not just that he’s drumming is bad but also the thing that MP was the soul of the band. He also had a big role on composing the songs. MM doesnt have any role on it.
